i had this ball almost a year now and i still love my big one...it hits hard and very unforgiving...u just have to hit your mark and watch the pins explode...i reccommend this ball who really into bowling because it is a highly maintence ball or else the ball wont react on u...its a very agressive ball very nice for crankers and stroker the only thing i dislike about the big one is the highly maintence of the ball...you have to bath and sand or polish it every 10-15 games or u can see the reaction of the ball hitting the pins wont be the same...well i do believe every ball should be in good maintence =)

I'm not native speeking english, I have no idea what means grit or scotchbrite (isn't that cleaning stuff?) or coverstock....thats why I will never make it to 100 words to post my review. Could that be a reason why there are so few posts / reviews an balls that hve been on the market for years? This is really hard, I hope nobody will read through this because it must be annoing. Have a nice day and as we say in Austria: Gut Holz! let the good times bowl! Prost LG Alex bye bye bye bye bye bye

This was my first ebonite ball. I put together some great scores and series within the first 4 months of use. But then after 6 months the cover has just died. i bought this ball for my oil lane ball, and was very impressed. The ball is versatile as well, it can be polished to react more like The One. I am disappointed to see how the ball has died though. I have never had a ball just fall on its face like this, I cant seem to bring it back to where it once was. If there are some suggestions out there on how to bring it back i would love to hear them, i hate to have to get rid of this ball already.

I wasn't sure at first if it was the fit or the out-of-the-box surface, but this thing didn't turn the corner for me. I fiddled with the fit and the surface, and now I know it's the ball. From the hype and the other reviews, I expected a strong move at the end of the oil. Didn't happen for me. Yes, it moves more on the lane than my mild Tour Power (an oldie), but it's a lot weaker than my Vertigo, and the comparison got worse with the new Total Inferno. On ligher oil, my ancient Vortex 2 outhooks and outpowers it. The only good things I can say is that it doesn't do anything surprising, which can be good if the conditions are over/under, and it makes the pins move well on light shots. I could probably get the same performance if anyone made a particle polyester ball. For me, this is an average ball, and I gave it slightly below-average rating for being a high-priced ball.<s

I posted my best ever Summer average of 221 with this ball. The out of the box performance was awesome. I'm a high rev player who likes a sharp break point and this ball delivers. Maybe at first it broke too hard some nights but I found a way to use that to my advantage. The ball seemed to be very forgiving, if you found a way to the pocket it found a way to strike. This ball comes highly recommended, if you are in the market for a great medium-heavy oil ball you have to give this one a try you won't be disappointed.

This is a really good oil ball. Make sure you have a back-up ball in the bag. Would not recomend this ball for someone just starting out though. I carry a 225 average in a scratch league and a lot of people throw this ball and by the middle of the 2nd game most of these balls are back in the bag. I also put alot of revs on the ball so i kind of think I should have bought The One instead. When there is alot of oil this ball will get into the pocket and finish! Just remeber to have a back-up ball when the lanes break down.

when i first bowled with the big one..it hooked like crazy. i put up some good scores and series. but in about 5 months the ball just dies on you. ive tried every thing to get it back in the game but it is just dead. when i did like this ball, i udes it sanded to get an earlier reaction which worked out for me. ive had friends that absolutely love the big one and the one series, but i dont like it as much as he does.unless you have money to buy a new ball after 5 months i would not buy this bowling ball. it is not worth the money.

I got this ball a couple of months ago and use it as my startup ball every time I play. I rarely need to change to something else. Had to polish it a bit though because out of the box it hooked more than I wanted it to. At my local bowling center we normaly have a medium amount of oil and I mostly play in the area around the second or third arrow. About 210 average during league play. I have shot one 1000+ score (we play 4 games in Sweden) and several 900+ so far and I also got my first 300 game with this ball.

I had it polished because I didn't want to to roll too early on me and maybe that messed it up but it would not do anything I wanted it to do. It hit the pocket very weak...unless you put a LOT of revs on it. My nephew loves it so I sold it to him for 80 bucks after I paid about 190 buck for it. I didn't care, I just didn't want it anymore. It was taking up room in my bowling bag, now I have an excuse to go get another ball. I really like Ebonite bowling balls but I guess we just were not a good fit with each other.

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BALLS ON LEAGUE IT IS THE BOMB YOU CAN PLAY INSIDE OUTSIDE AND DONT REALLY HAVE TO WORK HARD JUST DROP IT AND LET THE BALL GO TO WORK IF YOU ARE A STROKER THIS BALL WILL WORK GREAT BUT MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN THE BALL ABOUT EVERY 3-6 GAMES IAM CONCERNED THAT THE BALLS COVER WILL GO AWAY AFTER THE SPORT SHOT TOURNMENT I PLAYED IN I BROUGHT EVERY BALL I HAD HOME AND SANDED THEME DOWN BECOUSE NOTHING I HAD WOULD HOOK OH WELL THAT A SPORT SHOT.OVERALL THIS IS A REAL NICE BALL<

The ball is great for a while, then you have to play with the cover alot. i have had my best sucess with this ball inside playing deep. the ball is really great. i like the ball when it is new, but it just died. I think i am going to buy a Black Widdow. the ball has the same cover, but a more agressive block. I think the Big one is a great ball, but there are too many draw backs because of the cover is just so soft. The big one is not for someone who is wanting to buy a ball that will last for 4 or 5 years. The balls that are made today......... the One line, The Inferno line. Those balls are only meant to last one year. Overall, the Big one is for someone that will use it to make money, and dump the ball after it dies.

like my ball very very much.. The first out of the box i shot 760 with the ball (257-268-235=760 series) The ball has a lot of backend and a good reation in the pocket. I think this one of the best ball that Ebonite has put yet. I wish that I had this ball when I went to USBC Open Championship. When the lanes break down make sure you have an back up ball that can get to the pocket.. You will start to see the weaken at the heads .The ball will start to jupl 4 or 5 boards which a lot especially during competition.

I got this ball to help me hand heavily oiled lanes. I throw about 16.5 to 17.5 miles per hour and have in my opinion a low rev rate. I throw this ball at the oiliest house in my town and it has truly live up to my expectations. The pin carry is terrific and the line is very predictable. This ball will travel out and snap back on the end. I would not recommend this ball for someone with a high rev rate. It will hook like a bat out of hell. One of the best balls Ebonite makes in my opinion. I must also recommend the old Ebontie Predator Sanded as my other favorite.

I heard a lot of good things about this ball. Some people say that they love this ball. I was thinking to myself, How Can You Be So in Love with This Ball? So I decided to get one to see what the big deal was. I told my ball driller to drill this ball to hook on medium to heavy oil. The layout was shown below but it wouldn't come out. As you look at the finger holes, the pin was to the right of my ring finger and the cg was swung out to the right with a small weight hole on the right hand side. Pin: 2-3 Top: 3 oz This ball is very clean through the heads and makes a hard turn at the backend. This ball is very predictable, readable, and forgiving. This ball is unreal. When you throw this ball, it will turn people's heads. I think everyone should have one in their bag.........Well, maybe not. It will be easier for me to win games when my opponent doesn’t have this ball in their bag. But if they do, be prepared for a high scoring war. If you don't have this ball, save

The Apex line turned me away from ebonite for a couple of years. At the request of my local ebonite rep i drilled one up and tested it. i drilled the ball pin 3 3/8 from the PAP. MB 5 1/4 from pap. pin has a 1 1/2 buffer to the VAL. ball specs where 3.5 pin and 2oz top weight. i found that out of the box the ball was alittle inconsistent and tended to roll up to early having more midlane reaction then backend for me. after polishing it all i can say is WOW. the length was perfect and a tremdous drive to pocket. the drawback to using it polished is that it becomes more of a light heavy or medium lane ball. The coverstock handles sanding and polishing quite well to custom fit every bowlers style. Ebonite definately scored with this ball i will definately keep an eye on future ebonite balls. any questions feel free to email me. Andrew AMnichowic@aol.com Frank's Pro Shop for comparison this ball was drilled the same way as my Hammer Road Hawg and Morich S &D. the Moric

I have only gotten into bowling about 3 months ago. I was not using lane balls at all, I used my grandfathers Brunswick and my fathers Hammer balls. Although they were not sized to my fingers, I had no trouble controlling those balls. Now that I am used to the BIG ONE and I have mastered the way to use it, I can agree with all the other reviewers on this site. It is a great ball and well deserving of a 10 pin rating. This ball brought my average game from a 125 to a 150+ every time I bowl. I am joining a league this month and this ball gave me the confidence I needed to suceed in this league. Before I was nervous, now I can't wait. I highly recommend this ball for beginner bowlers with average to high speed, looking to establish great hooking power. This ball is the real deal!

I average 210+, I currently throw an Intense Inferno drilled left handed, and a XXL. The past few months they changed our shot so drastically that your 200+ bowlers were shooting 500's and your 160 average bowlers were shooting 700's. No one seemed to have a ball that would work with the carry down. My first night out with this ball, I shot 247 - 279 - 232. This ball worked from frame one, didn't have to change one thing... same line all night long. Went out again two days later and rolled 7 games on an un - oiled house shot, didn't do as well, but still averaged 219. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BALL !!!!!!

I can't tell you how this ball is drilled. I just told them to drill it for my style on heavy lon oil and I haven't come across any condition that this ball doesn't dominate. Even on dry it is agreat ball if you can play deep. I've done great in tournements with this ball and one was the US OPen shot with 50 feet of oil. I seen people trying to throw the scorchen inferno and they were only hooking 3-5 boards pointing off the gutter. I was playing 20 to 5 and the ball never stopped hooking it shattered the pins even if i missed my mark and hit high or light. This is a must have along with the One.

Ball is amazing, first time used shot 663, first tournament (next day) shot 702, stood30 threw between 4th and 3rd arrow, almost had 300 but was tapped first and last frame, brought it to CTF Round 2 Qualifying and ball didnt do a whole lot, due to extreme amounts of oil in a sport pattern and OB on the sides, big dissapointment, would have adjusted ball for that oil pattern. Ball drilled according to drill sheet as most overall hook, MB in 75 degree position, overall am very pleased with it, hooks to much to use in my home league, and sometime not enough or just perfect in travel league.<scri

This ball has made me a believer. In the past Ebonite has let me down too many times. What a BIG way to totally redeem themselves. Thanks Ebonite! The ball is being thrown by my 14 year old son. Long and strong layout. 3" pin with 3 1/2 oz top weight before drilled. The ball required a balance hole after drilling and polish was added. The lanes were medium and the oil pattern was long. The Big One had no trouble getting through the oil and slight carrydown. The comments are what I am observing in his shot. He is a stroker with medium revs. Targeting the second arrow, the ball is drifting out to about the second board and suddenly makes an extremely hard left turn to the pocket. An amazing thing is that it goes so long and makes such an awesome turn. The end result was 188-211-223. He tugged it a few times. Not bad for the first time out with a new ball. (The thumb was a little snug, too.) If you tug it, wave bye-bye. Throw it correctly and it will reward you. This i

You need to put something behind this one. Tried to play it nice and slow and was highly disappointed (169). The last 2 games finally threw it harder up 15 to about 7 and the magic began (234,258). All in all I would say this ball was about 7 boards stronger for me then THE ONE. Strength that really helped. If you need a ball for the oil, then I would highly recommed this ball. I used to be a full out storm kinda bowler; Ebonite's last few releases have certainly changed my mind. GO EBONITE!! If you have THE ONE, then THE BIG ONE is the next step up for those oily nights!

Is there any other ball like this one? NO... Is this the greatest ball? Duh!!! Other than the fact that this ball is super awsome i don't know what to say... only thing is if u find bone dry lanes make sure u have a back up or if it starts hooking too much or u just dont feel like moving too far left have a back up ball... that why i have my crossfire it comes in just as strong but the lanes have to be dried up or just move to the right with the crossfire Ebonite is the best company to go with hands down

This has to be the most powerful ball to grace the face of bowling since the Lane Masters "Yeah Baby" hit the scene. It is a very "forgiving" ball as long as you keep in IN THE SOUP! If your game requires a down and in shot please note: THIS IS NOT THE BALL FOR YOU. This ball almost forces you to play anywhere between third and forth arrow on any playing surface you can find. WIth the only exception to the rule being a sport shot. I was skeptical that this ball would be anything more than a dull "The One". For the most part; I was right. What I was not expecting was a ball that reacts even when you keep the speed (muscle) on with some hand in the ball. This ball definitely has potential when placed in the right hands. Ebonite maintained the wow-factor of "The ONE" with the surface savvy of a Hum-V. This ball drives on anything you throw on; hands down. Being a pro shop attendant, I've drilled up some of the most powerful ball on the market and thrown 85% of them. But this ONE has t

I attended an Ebonite Demo Day and tried this ball out. I had attended one a week earlier, but this ball was not available yet. Between the 2 demos, I tried the Nitro R2, XXXCel, V2 Power, and The One. I also had my Apex Obsession, Blade Particle, and Blade Pearl to compare reactions. There were 4 different lane conditions. My Apex rolled even on all but one condition where it hooked too early. The Pearl reacted good on that condition. None of the other balls did anything until I threw the Big One. With my higher than average rev rate, I had to play the Apex pretty tight up the track. I had to move 8 boards left with the Big One. It definately hooks more than anything I have ever thrown on oil.

Ebonite Big One Review: Ebonite is certainly on a roll with the release of THE ONE and now the BIG ONE. After a few years of not producing a reliable high end ball the folks at Ebonite R&D are now headed in the right direction. The BIG ONE picks up right where THE ONE let off, which is where THE ONE in box finish was not great on heavier oiled patterns the BIG ONE, conquers these patterns. What is also nice about the BIG ONE is that it can handle heavier oil with a very smooth 4000 abralon finish. This means that the life expectancy on this ball should be much better then previous Ebonite Hi-End hooking releases that tried to utilize 400 to 600 grit finishes and quit hooking after a few games. The BIG ONE is extremely clean thru the heads, but reads the mid-lane more then THE ONE, and still retains the strong booming backend of THE ONE. I found the BIG ONE to be 7-10 boards stronger then THE ONE. Keep both balls in box finish and you have a great 1-2 punch for medium to heavier oil
