This was my go to ball for any lane condition. With the stacked drill pattern this ball was smooth but hit well. Revs well in the midlane without grabbing to early and hitting flat. The ball hit best when it was slightly high in the pocket. On a typical league shot you cannot get a ball the will be much easier to play than this one. If it leaves a 10 pin then move a board right and you'll clear it every time. On a short, light block, sport shot league the ball would burn out early without more ball speed. Other than the extremely light lane conditions this ball was phenominal. On the issue of cracking: I NEVER leave my bowling balls in the car or in other extreme temperatures. I had stopped bowling for about 3 months and I had about 8 bowling balls all in the same closet in the center of the house and I had only two balls crack on me -- both were Ebonite balls. A brand new (less than 50 games on it) V2 Sweet and this Obsession. I believe it is due to small pockets of air

Great ball on long oil, but what good is that if the ball cracks with less than 100 games on it? First ball I've ever had that cracked sitting in the house. Reported to Ebonite and no relief offered due to warranty alone. $170 down the drain. Tells me that Ebonite doesn't stand behind its products. As a matter of fact, Ebonite suggested that I hadn't even given the company an opportunity to offer compensation for the ball, so Ebonite couldn't possibly help me. Ebonite never made an offer to compensate me, so I could not refuse an offer. Ebonite ended up making no offer to compensate me and dismissed the cracked ball due to warranty alone. At this point in time, my perception of Ebonite is that they are in the business of cranking out tons of product with lax quality controls placed on the product. Ebonite does not really stand behind its products. And Ebonite does not deal sincerely with its customers. Yeah, I'm a bit pissed to the tune of $170. Expennnn

I polish all my equipment and this is no different, i had it drilled leverage for good length and huge backend reaction, which is exactly what it does. The ball gets down the lane and the takes a very strong move to the pocket without a big snap. It just arcs in very hard and plows through the pins. I find that you down get a lot of messengers but you really get a lot of clean strikes, with all ten going down right away. It has a great carry and really gets the ten pin out a lot. An excellent ball from the Apex line

Perfect ball for cranker on a sport shot with out of bounds just throw it down the 2nd arrow and u will be fine. The ball i have drilled with the pin above the ring finger and the cg in the palm it on dry lanes it rollout way to soon even if u throw it 19 mph. I've never been an Ebonite man but I got a pretty good deal on Ebay for this one. I had it in my garage for six months and finally had my local pro shop guy drill it for me and it worked great tonight. I used the Ebonite #2 drill pattern and the ball stored up energy pretty well with a smooth move to the pocket. The ball does not seem to hit as hard as my Storm equipment but it carries just fine. The ball seems to be forgiving so far, if I got a little too far outside it made a nice move to the pocket but it wasn't snappy. I'll probably post more later when I get a better feel for the ball.

I wanted this ball drilled up for control (pin and cg are ~1-1.5" from PAP) and that is exactly what I got. Straight out of the box, I tapped 10 pins for 3 games. I used a 2000 grit abralon pad (in-box is 1000) for a little more length stopped tapping. This ball is fairly versatile and works on everything from the dry mediums to oily mediums. This ball is not good for either extreme, but no ball is good for all conditions. It has become my benchmark ball. Ebonite Apex. Ebonite Apex. Ebonite Apex. Ebonite Apex.

Very conditon specific ball. Great for heavy oil to medium oil with a few adjustments. Once the oil starts leaving, please say goodnight to this ball and put it to bed for the night. Had this ball drilled for heavy oil reaction and it does what it supposed without any type of struggle. You don't need to force the ball down the lane. A nice smooth release to your mark and you won't have to worry about the ball reacting too early. It WILL come back and come back HARD. This is the 4th Ebonite I've owned over 30 yrs and haven't been disappointed with ANY of them. Currently have a Turbo X, Shooter and now this Obession. The Shooter is the first ball out of my bag to test the lane conditons and the last ball I'm using at the end of the evening once the lanes start breaking down. Another winner from Ebonite. Don't spend more money for a heavy oil ball when this is all you need to have.<scri

I drilled this ball with a 5 " pin, under the fingers and the bomb in my track, 120* drilling. This ball is a heavy rolling ball that will have no trouble reading the midlane. After polishing with Particle Polish I was able to get the ball down the lane and the drilling gives it a smooth reaction toward the pocket. This is a good ball to use in oil. If you cannot get it down the lane, do not be afraid to adjust the surface to get the reaction you are looking for. This is the hookingest ball in the Apex line.

I have owned all 5 of the Apexs and by far I liked this one the best. I am a cranker but I bowl on a very heavy oil shot and this works perfect in it. The ball for me drilled is 3 3/4" pin with a maximum mass bias for a full roller with the dropped ring finger for more turn. This ball does not hook as hard as my other balls but it works perfect when I have to adjust to a down and in shot. Hit right on 10 board and BOOM 95% of the time with leaving very few 7 pins. Perfect ball for a stroker bowler.

I love this ball. im mostly a brunswick kinda guy but i figured id try something new and for 130 i wasnt going to change my mind. but i love this ball. ive thrown it on everything but heavy oil and i love it. its jus like my time zone except it comes back harder the the zone. smashes the pins totally. but when u burn ur line out u have to move, change ur shot, or put it away because it becomes to aggressive. I think i shot about 5 games before i put it away today and i think i didnt shot under 220 with it. its a freakin awsome ball..

Great ball so far, i mean i havent really thrown it mcuh i threw about a game with it when i first got it today (2-9) but once i found a shot on carry down and found the feel for the ball i started hittin the pocket and makin pins fly around. its drilled up with the pin split inbetween the fingers and the bomb placed about 3/4 inch right of the thumb with about 1/2 oz positive weight. freakin awsome ball on what ive thrown. i cant wait till i get to test it for good out on a sport shot or something because thats what i mostly got it for. i have a time zone to take up the house shots n crap. now thats another great ball go check my review on that too. the price i paid wasent bad at all, my local dealer told me 130 out the door. cant beat that for a ball that goes 219 on the market. ill update more once i throw the ball more or on a shot.

I got this ball because I was in a slump when I bowled on heavy oil lanes. My friend reccomended it to me so I listened and got my first ball that not from storm and I wasn't dissapointed. I bowled about 20 games with it and I only went under a 200 4 times! This ball put my average back in the 190s from 175. I was really impressed with what this ball did in my high school tournament. I shot a 245,221, and a 268. Even though this ball is great I still need my fear factor because the apex obsession hooks early. So when i get my 6 ball arsenal I take out my power charge and put in my apex obsession. I never thought I would say this but thanks EBONITE.

great looking ball and easy to controle should of bot a different ball. good for strokers need to buy more aggresiv ball like the vicious strike. im going to buy it soon. I carry a 200 avg but know i could carry way higher and still dont know what to do with it so throw it out and buy a different ball that hittes harder. it hits hard but not what i want. highest game with it is a 259 and i have had it for three monthes now. i need more backend on my balls to get threw the fronts

Specs 15# ball 2-3 inch pin 3oz top weight Drilled pin below ring finger - stacked. This ball is great. Recommend this ball to anybody the bowls on heavy oil and has a fast ball speed like me. This ball comes out and starts hooking in a smooth arc about 5 feet past the arrow and slams in to the pocket. Best ball I have owned. Clears the deck but starts to leave corner pins when the lanes dry out, time to change balls then. Also forgiving when crossing over the head never left a split only a corner or solid 8. Only draw back is it soaks up oil like a sponge had to clean it every 4 games or I started to see it fade.

I would highly recommend this ball for those strokers with normal to fast ball speed, it will hit them hard. this kind of particle cover stock really is not for snapping the ball, its for just rolling it on an even hook. also, on some synthetic, medium oiled, house shots, this ball does pretty well polished, it has more of a snappy turn to it. scotchbrite is also very good to use on this ball to get a little more surface for those oily conditions. the polish i prefer is control it made by neo-tac, or reacta shine by storm because it really gives it that extra length still allowing the hard turn to the pocket!

This balls hooks really early and will give you good length. It hits harder than a majority of balls. my first shot i left the 7-10 split and i picked it up with this ball. You have to sand or scotch-brite the ball or it will go a little long. the ball might jump the first couple of shots but once you work a track into the ball it works nice.If you turn the ball over this ball wont hook at all through the backends. get this ball. make sure you put a good drilling pattern on the ball like put the pin a 3 oclock.
