Ebonite Apex Addiction Bowling Ball

Tournament and league players can’t get enough of the confidence in heavier oil conditions that Apex Addiction provides. With 2% silica particle loading in the Big Daddy™ reactive resin, the new Mac Daddy™ particle resin coverstock creates more overall hook potential, a stronger break point angle and boosts Addiction’s strength in long oil, carrydown situations and “out of bounds” areas. The super low RG, modified Fusion core features lower core torque to promote the stronger revving motion required for more consistency in the midlane. The Motor The Apex Addiction utilizes a super low RG version of Ebonite's highly successful asymmetric Fusion™ core. The original Fusion core was modified by eliminating the lightbulb extension. The elimination of the lightbulb protrusion creates a small flat spot. This results in a reduction of the mass bias to .003, slightly more than a traditional pin out ball (.001). The lower mass bias increases the transition time from skid to hook to forward roll, allowing the ball to conserve more energy when it encounters friction. This conservation of energy provides a sharper breakpoint angle. To provide the early rev needed in longer, wider heavy oil patterns, the density of the inner core was increased to place to provide an RG that is near the lower ABC limit. The BOMB logo will be located roughly 6-3/4 inches from the pin, on a line through the Center of Gravity (CG). The Tires The Mac Daddy™ particle coverstock is a new formulation from the Ebonite R & D laboratory. The Mac Daddy features a combination of the new “Big Daddy” Wheel reactive resin and a low, 2% load of silica particles. The Mac Daddy cover was engineered to provide a completely different hook motion than Ebonite’s other particle coverstocks. The new reactive resin base (Big Daddy) was engineered to provide a stronger breakpoint angle and more backend continuation, while retaining predictability in the midlane. The silica particles provide consistent traction and are the same size, and in the same low volume-loading levels as found in the Big Bang™ and Big Easy™ particle coverstocks, found on the Apex Adrenaline, Reflex, and Intensity. The Addiction comes factory textured with 1200 grit sandpaper. The Mac Daddy particle coverstock is easily tunable with polishes and scuff pads to provide the desired breakpoint and hook potential. The Combination The Apex Addiction was engineered to provide the earliest, strongest ball reaction ever in the Apex line, giving the player the confidence to be aggressive in the long, heavy oil patterns. The Addiction will roll sooner than both the Apex Aggression and Adrenaline. The Addiction generates a breakpoint angle stronger than the Aggression, similar to the Adrenaline. The combination of the strong breakpoint and early roll will allow the player to play inside as well as outside angles (actual lane play will be determined by the player and the lane condition). Surface Texture Having the correct surface texture will enable the Apex Addiction to perform at its peak. The 1200 grit factory sanded finish is designed for heavy oil conditions and faster ball speed players. Test the box finish in your bowling center. Should your ball speed be faster or your lane condition be heavier oiled or a longer pattern (causing the breakpoint to be too far down the lane to produce the proper reaction) we suggest dulling the ball with Ebonite Powerhouse Matte Finish or Sandblaster, or scuffing with a burgundy scuff pad or 600 grit sandpaper. If your ball speed is slower or your lane condition is lighter oiled or a shorter pattern, the box finish may be too aggressive, causing the ball to lose energy down the lane. We suggest polishing with Powerhouse Particle Polish. This will delay the breakpoint, allowing the ball to retain energy longer. Please consult the surface friction guide for further information. Maintenance It is imperative to maintain a clean surface to allow the oil-displacing pores in the ball’s surface to function properly. Powerhouse Energizer Cleaner and Powerhouse Ball Scrubs contain a potent combination of organic and inorganic cleaners designed to deep clean the dirt and oil from the ball’s pore structure. Both products are legal for use during ABC competition as well as after the conclusion of competition. The micro-fiber, Powerhouse Oil-Free Towel will provide more absorption of oil and dirt than standard terry towels.

It's a good ball out of the box. It hits hard when it goes into it's forward roll. Like any ball, you have to throw it right and have the right lane conditions for it to perform. It died on me after 50 games or so. Then I had it revived and it died on me after 15 games. I found myself having to play up the boards and eventually it became my spare ball. It's not a bad ball if you are patient enough to baby it after every game. I don't like how much time it's spent in the pro shop instead of on the lanes.

I have this ball drilled up 90 degrees, Pin 3 3/8 from PAP, bomb ~7" from PAP, it is sitting right on the track. First off, there is 6"+ of track flare. On a flat, heavy oil shot, ball didn't work well until oil started to break down, then it became a monster. Updated 4/06: Ball has become my go-to ball when the shot is confusing. It carries very well and the drilling gives me a very controllable, strong arc. The coverstock is strogn enough to not over shoot the break-point. Still a great ball!!

Bowl on Wood lanes and it hooks so much. Really like it got it drilled aggressive and hits very hard. Lots of revs and just a overall great ball. I would recomend this ball to somebody if there looking for a hook monster. Got it for 80 with shipping on Ebay, good place to buy balls. Adverage 115 but only been bowling for 5 months. 14 years old so not a great bowler yet, but learning. I heard good things and bad things about this ball, so i thought i would give it a try. I really like it and would recomend this ball.

So far so good..............I have read reviews where some bowlers can't get this ball to hook. I find this hard to believe. This ball is great in carry down situations and provided me with great consistency from a reaction and carry standpoint. I typically prefer to play straight up #10 board with a medium hook over a ball that can hook out of the house. This is the first ball with a significant hook that I can roll with confidence from outside # 5 and with great results. My review is from a ball that is out of the box with no modifications a standard drill position and semi-finger tip.

When I first got this ball I was skeptical because I have heard some good and bad reviews about the Addiction. But when I it drilled and threw it for the first time i shot my high game of 253 and and my series of 668. I play from 13-15 board and throw i with a average speed of 16 mph. You usually have to play this ball around the 3rd arrow. This ball hits the pocket with so much energy that it shatters the pins. The rolls early so that it will hook in any amount of oil. However once the lanes start to dry up put the ball in the bag.

This ball has a wide impact on the pins. This is a great ball in the heavier oiling, since it was made for that. This ball is quite hard to control when the lane gets dry and dull. Always keep the ball clean to further improve its power. It has a great shot to the pocket. I have mine to its max and has a rolling effect. I think the only problem with ebonite balls are its pin because when it gets heated lightly the pin gets softer. All I can say is that this is a very strong ball and just always keep it nice and intact.

I got this ball towards the end of the regular season. I can't remember the exact specs of the ball, but I know it has a 3 in. pin and I think the pin is located under the right of the ring finger. This is a great ball for medium to heavy oil. It carries pocket hits and light hits well occasionally leaving corner pins. From what ive heard, this is one of the best of the apex series just not what I was looking for. I might have to buy something else if I rin through a lot of oil this upcoming season. Shout outs to all the bowlers in the 518 PEace

i bought the addiction looking for heavly oil ball that i could swing abit or atleast be somewhat forgiving in the oil. Clearly this was not case for this ball. i had decent success playing the middle of the lane. Thrid arrow and second worked as long as i did not get the ball out to far and kept my speed up. In the heavy oil i found that the addiction just could not recover if throw out to the dry boards. too frequently it would roll out or just fail to make it back to the pocket. Not the hooker i was looking for. in fact on most oily conditions i am forced to play down and in with the addiction. Anyone interested in this ball i would recommend a hammer blade drilled slighly agreesive. i will save you $50 odd bucks and virtually be the same ball but the hammer carried much better. if you like playing deep inside in the heavy stuff then go ahead and give this ball a try. just do not throw it out more than a few to a couple boards or say hello to solid three pin. i drilled m

HORRIBLE. The ball was a piece of junk. The ball for a cranker was nothin but a dry lane ball. A ball u could throw deep inside on dry lanes. The ball has no backend reaction. I had it drilled stacked leverage a fairly strong drilling and the ball never flipped. It jus rolled. Maybe a good ball for a stroker but for a cranker its a waste of money in my opinion. The whole apex series has been a disappointment to me. None of them rolled good. I was hoping that the apex addiction would be a very strong ball but im glad i tried one b4 i bought one.

i bought the addiction for oilly lanes, the ball was dull and looked like shit. The ball would turn in about half way down the lane and lose its energy by the time it got to hit the pins. so i polished it up heaps to see how it would change, the ball went long as it should and snaped so hard. i was impressed!!!! Now i love my addiction and will always carry it with me to tornaments. With the polish the ball lookes much better and the colours look divine. Bring on the oilly lanes as i will carve you up!!!!! with my addiction!

This is one of the best balls out there in my view, awesome carry, cute back end. Extreme high reccomendation !! I find this ball will only suit the medium rev count as if too much is put on it, it turns left too much. I bowl on synthetic lanes and with my X-Factor i bowl between 3rd and 2nd arrow...this ball is made for third arrow on oily conditions, put it away if you find it is diving too early as you wont score ! I only bowl with Ebonite balls usually although i own an X-Factor, due to this is pure brilliance also !! Good work Ebonite !!<s

this ball is terrific on heavy oil or at least medium oil. you can play the whole lane whenever you want to, if you know how to change you releases. plus if you want to play inside it has a nice beautiful arc to it, and explodes when it hits the pins. overall this ball, pretty much take good chunks of oil, and that it shouldnt be played on dry because its just going to hook the whole lane. the heads need to be oiled for its best performance. and i wouldnt be writing this sentence if i didnt need any more words.

I like the new Ebonite Apex Addiction. Last Friday, the guy from the pro shop told me, since I got the Storm X-Factor Deuce, that the guy who owned the pro shop and an Addiction for sale. I took it, rolled a game with it, and shot a 258 with it. The guy told me the one who was selling it wanted $100 for it. So, I gave the guy 50 this week, and giving him 50 next week for it. This ball is so amazing. I took it to Williamston this past Saturday for the Regionals in the Pepsi Storm Tourney. You are probably wondering what happened. First, if you were to win in your division during regionals, you would advance to states in Raleigh. Needless to say, I am goin 2 states all in thanks to the Addiction. Very nice Ebonite.

This ball rolled like an old truck with a flat tire, excuse me not just one flat tire, two. The ball loped pathetically down the lane. This ball would not transition into a roll at all. The drilling was simple. Over the label cg in center of grip with pin next to ring finger. Top weight was 3.2 oz.. Small hole 33/8 from pin on pap. Cream puff of a ball and it showed. Actually a creampuff would have hit harder, and tasted better too. This ball was given to me by another person who felt the same way I did. He was a straight player, and I saw on it pretty good. I don't know who in the world would like this pile. YUK!!!

I sped my ball speed up to 19 MPH and this ball still bounced off like it got hit by one of Tyson's punches. The core on this ball is centered and brought down further for more density. Now you'd figure a dense core means big hit. WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! This ball hooks so much because a centered core can change direction with a lot more ease, however this easy change of direction means deflection. Go read a physics book if you don't believe me but believe that this ball sux. I have never left so many 7 pins up in my life. P.O.C. grade A trash<sc

This ball is great! it hits a ton and leaves nothing standing, Killer must not know how to throw a ball or he would not say it hits like a ping pong ball, this ball just blows the pins away. I have had this ball since the 1st of the year and watched as my average just keeps going up, My average is now 208 and it doesn't seem that will stay as I keep getting better and better. You must know your lane conditions, because this ball doesn't like it dry. When the lanes dry up, get out another ball. This ball is for medium to heavy oil.

Someone needs to put this ball in the hall of shame! it deflects off the pins like it had just hit a solid brick wall and what's even worse is it chips and cracks like you took a hammer to it. The ball has no consistency with hook even though I threw it the same way twice and if you throw to far inside, it hooks way over to the brooklyn side. If it goes to far outside, it won't come back. What a terrible waste of Urethane. If you payed a lot for this ball, I feel just terrible for you.

I think that this ball is great. before i got this ball i had a columbia 300 messenger ti but it doesnt compare to the addiction. the first time i threw it at demo day i knew it was the ball 4 me. it hits real hard no matter where(pocker or brooklyn). i jus started bowling this year for my high skool and its only been 3 months throwing a hook. awesome ball i would def. recomend this ball as long as u use it for heavy oil. dont use it on dryer lanes or ur gonna jus waste it. its got one of the best backends i saw. even though im not the best bowler i still get a good hook and my friend thats avg.s bout 190 had to stand in the left gutter and throw it to the right gutter and then have it come back thats how much it moved 4 him.

I keep getting fished in, a ball gets good reviews, I try it, it rolls OK, after about 25 games it stops hooking and I go back to my Brunswick balls, it seems like the boxes are getting stuffed or something on here, My last two E balls did exactly the same thing, stopped hooking after a couple of weeks and then cracked apart, must be the weather, yea right, I think I will stick with the name brand from now on. I have to write 17 more words now so I am going to ramble on a little more.

Out of the box, this ball's a winner. A definite oil ball. It finishes much harder than my Aggression, which was supposed to be an oil ball. We used a standard drilling for this one, nothing fancy. As far as hitting power, the ball drives through the pins. It carries off-hits pretty well. On a super-oily house shot, I'm averaging an ungodly 244 with it. (I'm not that good.) It's a superb match of ball vs. lane condition. Please don' t throw this ball on dry lanes. You'll give it an unfair review and lose the respect of your fellow bowlers.

Great ball!!!!!I would recomend for most players. Out of the box, I go 208, 279, 203. Would have been better, but for some reason I kept wanting to hit up on the ball, causing nose hits. About the only style this ball wont help is straight ball bowlers, or heavy crankers. This ball does love the heavy oil though. I had the ball drilled up to roll early, and it never onced rolled out before reaching the pocket. Carry isnt an issue. I left 3 10 pins, a stone 8, and a stone 9. I I think ebonite did a great job on the coverstock and core match.

Wow... got this ball today. Threw a couple to make sure it fight right. Went down to the local lanes medium oil with carrydown (don't strip the lanes for the ladies)and threw a 729 (235,258,236). First 700. Hits well, carries well. playing center approach throwing over 13 out to 8. I may have to change the surface with my speed on a tournament shot. Didn't roll out on me with nice breakpoint angle. Box finish 1200 grit sanded; drilled pin down and right 1 inch; bomb left of thumb 1 1/4 down about 1/2. Looking forward to tomorrow 1st shift with drier backends.

I saved money for a long time to buy an Ebonite Apex Aggression. Then i saw it on the internet and fell in love with it, got it some days later. So I went to a competition with a ball I had never tried before. I was so nervous, i thought that i`d really screw everything up. But I didn`t. I threw 239 for the first game. Everyone was stunned about that. The 2nd game was 201 and the 3rd was 225. then the last game came and i was the certain leader. So I thought that i`d try some other technique. The last game - 269. OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!. My first four games with addiction and my best four. Can`t wait for the next tournament. I love U Ebonite. The Apex line is the greatest ever.

I got the ball a couple days ago. From a paycheck at work. I was stoked. Got to bowling that day and it wasn't doing very well. Then I got some help from the guys I know at the alley and I got it rolling better. They also told me that they hadn't clean/oiled the lanes in awhile so i was happy. They threw my ball and told me it had alot of potential. Even though they hate Ebonite. I took it to the bowling meet i had a couple of days ago and it flew down the lane. I used my roll to pick up what it left if it left anything at all. I was set to go. We swept east and heelan how you like them apples fellas???? Ha ha WOLVERINES ARE TAKING IT THIS YEAR KIDS, THE HOUSE IS COMING DOWN.<scr

I aint goin to give you people any BS i love this ball!! Its worth its price and will be ripping up my racks for many years to come. The Proactive coverstock gives this ball great grip in tough oil. trust me i kno about this. It cut right through it like butter, not only that but the actual ball breaks very nicely, more angular than round. The ball also has good length as it can retain most of its power. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DONT EVEN WORRY ABOUT THE HOOK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!JUST KNO IT HOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
