Columbia 300 Black U2 Solid Bowling Ball

(2 reviews) Write a Review

This was the first ball ever to feature a urethane shell that was formulated to complement the inner core of a two-piece construction bowling ball  The U2 has a tapered core designed to stablilize the trajectory of the ball, creating more energy and momemtum upon impact.  The smooth, even arc to the pocket explodes the pins in a sideways motion, getting maximum interaction and carry.

Columbia U2 was the best ball of its time, way ahead of what other manufacturers were producing (late 80's early 90's). I did my best lanes with this ball and it was very well known in Mexico within bowlers the great power it had on all kinds of surfaces. The way it looks is also something to remember, those yellow lines looked great once you throwed the ball. The great performance, good pin carry and extraordinary hit power made the U2 my favorite ball on earth. I believe that Columbia should produce a new generation of U2 with new technology, it should be a blast!

UPDATE: 04/16/03 - Shot 739 with it and the only problem was operator error and one stone eight pin. I bought this ball when it came out and it changed my whole game. During the end of the "short oil era" (1990-91) this ball was the only one that left my bag. It's a cranker's dream, but it did have a few drawbacks. Being a 2-piece ball created more 8 and 9 pin leaves because this ball did not deflect like regular three-piece balls. It did rev-up early and arced smoothly on the backend. The best part of the U2 is what the pins do when it hits; it keeps them low and flying laterally accross the lane. The Columbia 300 website says this and it's a fact! With the revival of my game and the success I have exprience with the urethane Ultimate Weapon, I decided to have this ball redrilled. The pin was almost on the CG. I flipped it to the 12 o'clock position and added about one-half once of positive side weight. It worked like a dream.<scr
