Well now, this ball, #1VC00289, the 289th production Ricochet off the assembly line, has a 3 inch pin from CG. I've had this drilled up with pin 1+ inch right of ring finger and CG 1+ inch right of center of grip for a nice skid flip. Played that on wood house shot and it recovered from just about anywhere. Of course that was due more to the invisible bumper along the outside dry than the ball, I think. And then had it redrilled with pin 2+ inches right of ring finger and CG 2+ inches right of center of grip for smoother arcing curve. Can't play a medium speed wide swing shot on short oil sport conditions because it slows down too much when it hits dry. But can play down and in with min hand or even 2-3-4 arrow with a little more hand, just so's ya keep up the forward momentum. But that requires a more precise shot. This ball loves conditions where there is enough oil to release whatever spin you put on it. If it's bone dry, might as well throw yer spare ball. Or ju

Though i havnt had time to post a review on this ball, i have had it for a while now, close to 3-4 months. I was fortunate to pick this ball up blank from my friend by trading my eraser blaze, man doesnt he feel like an idiot now. This ball has been my go to ball since i drilled it up. Pin is about 3/4 of an inch above my ring finger w/ the cg in the palm. Ball gives a nice consistent reaction and amazing carry at the end. Have been searching for another but good balls such as this just disappear and it makes me sad :-( why did columbia discontinue this.

Even though im a kid this balls is so awsome because the backend is powerfull when it hits the pocket. This ball just takes everthing out and leaves nothing. I really like this ball because when i got this ball my average quickly improved from a 165 to a 180 . The backend is so strong when it hits the pocket cause of me revalution that i have on the ball and where i have my ball drilled. I also have a extra air - hole drilled to because it takes the 7 8 9 and 10 out with no problem at all. NEVER USE ON DRY

overall it opened the "deep inside" shot my coaches felt I didn't have.....And for the most part it allowed me to "area" bowl with about a 10 board "area" that with the right speed I could sit on all day.....also I don't see the track that I do with my other equipment and that saves on my wallet. This ball hits as hard as any other ball I have thrown and it will carry an unusual amount of "lite" hits.....Hey you can't beat this ball for the price two thumbs up Columbia I knew you could do it !!!!!!!

if you throw it with high speed on medium heavy or heavy oil , you can also throw a spare ball, the reaktion is the same. if you slow up it is a great ball with ton of backend. the surface will get mate after throwing it 200 games and it is grey and not black. if you polish it again, you can throw it in the waste. it is all over then. has a great finish when it is new and leaves some 9 pins made a 279 out of the box on the first day. nice ball but the surface dies quick.

My first Columbia ball and what a bad experience. Ball didn't give good reaction to lane and didn't carry well. I bowl on different lane conditions and haven't found a shot that suits this ball. I've had other people tell me how they like this ball on this condition or that. Not for me, ball is too finicky, if anything worked best on a fresh shot until carry-down. I tried having this ball redrilled to see if a different layout might help and that just didn't help either. I even had it scuffed up to see if it might help read lane better and get rid of some of it's skiddishness. No luck. For me this ball is 2 thumbs down.

played with this ball for several months, predictable ball. rolled some of my highest games with it, several 279s, 289, and thus far my highest 290. found that the ball wasn't all that it was hyped up to be, said to be a backend ball? only on a nice crisp backend did i find the backend that was said to be there. otherwise i found that the ball had a nice even predictable arc. maybe it's due to the rotation that i get from my release i don't know. regardless of what it be, the ball was the best in my bag.

Worth the money. I drilled my ball for backend and it sure gives u it. Lots of controll. Never seen a ball hit so hard highly recomended for compitive bowling. This ball is not a ball to learn how to throw a hook. When bowling on dry lanes beware. Rejuventation recomended every 2 to 3 months ball just sucks up oil. Have not had any damage problems. Very nice particle ball. when i got this ball my average went up ten pins. It is also a very tough ball to pick up a ten pin with. i was very supprised how much hook you get in the middle of the lane. This ball will definatly stay in my bag for a long time.

THIS IS THE BEST BALL TO START OFF WITH THAT EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. AS A YOUTH BOWLER WE BOWL FIRST THING IN THE MORNING WHEN THE LANES ARE FRESH AND THERE ISN'T ANY BALL BETTER. THE BALL CUTS THROUGH OIL LIKE A KNIFE CUTS THROUGH BUTTER. AND THE BACKEND ON THIS THING IS SOMETHING THAT JUST MAKES YOU SAY DAM. SO MUCH HOOK AND POWER THERE ISN'T NOTHING OUT THERE THAT HITS BETTER. THIS BALL WILL STAY IN MY BAG FOR YEARS TO COME. THE ONLY DOWN SIDE TO THIS BALL IS THAT IT DOESN'T REALLY LIKE THE DRY LANE PATTERN HOOKS TO MUCH FOR THIS CONDITION.<s

This ball is very good for few games tournments. More than 6 games the ball loses some hook and looses that truck hit that the ball have at the beggining. I dont have complain about splits, I rarely have them. I got a lot the 10 pin. Ball is in the line, get a good hook, it's in the righ spot but sometimes the 10 pin stay there. It's very good for 2nd ball in a tournment when the heavy-oil lanes getting dry. Resuming, is a good ball. Clean the ball very often. The most it get cleaner, the best is the performance. Sorry about my english. I'm Portuguese.

when i first got this ball i was just coming off a ball that i had used for about a year and a half. thats a long time to go without a new ball because of the amount of bowling that i do. almost every ball that i own i buy because of its backend reaction, and this one was no exception. I drilled this ball up to be incredibly aggressive on the backends, and i got jus what i was looking for. This ball skates through the heads and the midlane, and then creates a backend reaction that would rival any. In fact, with my old ball, which was tracked out and burnt up, i was throwing around 10 at the arrows out to about 3 and hitting the pocket hard. With this ball, i was throwing around 19-20 at the arrows, out to around 5-6 and demolishing the pocket. This ball has more backend than a mac truck. however, the only problem with this ball is that unless you can consistently stay behind the ball when releasing it instead of rotating around to the side, you're going to lose reaction, becaus

I have owned 25+ balls, have 8 working balls, and this is by far the hardest hitting ball I have ever seen. Messengers and pin action galore. The backend flip is very decieving, it sometimes doesnt look like it will finsh, then it just explodes. I can throw it down and in or swing it, and it always come back. There isnt a strong reaction from the transition from the heads to the gradual dry. If you dont throw this ball, it will roll out on you. I drill with heavy top, and like to swing a little. If there is oil and ball speed, I have incredible results. The ball needs to be put in the bag after 2, but by then its done what it should. I have averaged 220's + always with this rock.........<

i think this ball is a good ball for the right kind of bowler. if you throw a hard ball stay clear of this one. if you're looking for a good backend hook look no further. i think this a very valuable piece in your arsenal. this ball is good for a most house lane conditions. this ball hammers pins like a bulldozer. i just wish this ball would carry further than it does. i think if you polish this ball a little more you'll love it. I myself cannot throw this over 15m.p.h. thanks for reading this review.

This is an awesome ball, and i dont even own one! I threw a buddy of mines and it was the most astonishing ball i have ever held. The late predictable reaction was the most amazing i have ever seen. i swung the ball out and was never let down, it slammed back to the pocket every time. i also threw a down and in shot and it had a very tight and powerful reaction and hit awesome. Possibly, no, definitly the most amazing ball i have thrown in 4 years. The Reation Ricochete is a must get ball for any arsenal of balls.

I have never used a better ball for all around conditions. You can get deep with dry lanes and play a little down and in with oil. The ball has a great turn after the break point. it never stops arcing. the only problem I have had is pushing the break point down the lanes on dry shots. That is probably me not being able to play deaper that 35 and third arrow, But that's why I have a 4 ball bag. I find the break piont around 40 -45 feet to work best for me and the ball. The stikes just keep coming, light heavy and forget about flush, the pins just explode.

I find the reaction ricochet to be an overall good ball for most shots, it goes long and snaps back big like it should. I had this ball for about 8 weeks now and have only found a problem hooking it when there is an exsessive amount of oil applied to the lane, which is not a usuall thing where I play, its mainly medium. The ball seems to hit pretty hard when it comes back but does not carry as well. A wee bit too expensive, you can find a ball just as good as this one for a lot less

I can use this ball on league conditions almost anyplace, but I really think this ball found a comfortable place in my tournament arsenal. Out of box specs: Pin out 3 inches, My Ricochet is drilled in a 5 x 4 1/2 pattern. The pin is directly above my ring finger, and the cg is swung out just slightly. The ball gets good length, and saves all energy for the backend of the lane. For me, it fits in just behind my ROLL for overall hook (isn't that what its supposed to do?). If the ROLL starts coming up heavy, I can switch to this ball, move 3 boards right, and do everything else the same. The ball WILL find the pocket. It hits excellently, and carry is above average. However, it loses a pin in rating because it WILL NOT hook on oil. If there is carrydown, forget about it. However, it will cover a broad range of conditions. Great ball, Great line.

the columbia ricochet is a great ball - i drilled mine 12:00 pin next to the ring finger about 2" above. this ball was a great ball on sport shots along with some of the collegian shot i bowled on. i had several 279 + games with this. the problem i ran into was when i purchased another ball that did about the same as the ricochet-- i started to work with the coverstock - i polished this ball to 2000 to see whaty kind of reaction i could get--- i got no carry - alot of roll out an the ball lost a tremendous amount of hitting power.

I've had this ball for a while, and have been able to try it on many different conditions. I got it drilled with the pin over the bridge and the CG in the center of my grip. When I got it I thought I might be able to use it on heavy oil because of the "massive backend hook." No, if I threw it like 12 MPH, yea, or if there are dry outside this ball will grab early. I was able to use it in the city tournament, I pulled it out and upped my speed, 6th frame of the last game, and struck out except for one frame when I went high. But in the end, this ball hits very hard, and has a very consistent and controllable backend. But if you want real backend, buy one of the Traumas or a Rip.

This is a great ball. Anyone looking for more backend reaction should go get one drilled up. You can play just about any lineout there. Move deep and swing it and it retains enough energy to snap around the courner, down and in and it has enough length to hold its line into the pocket, pull it through the middle, it will slide through the oil and still recover to carry the ten pin. This is a great ball for anyone looking for more backendand more carry. No doubt the best ball in the columbia line or any line for that matter. Thanks columbia for another great ball.

Now this is a ball to rave about. This ball can handle all ranges of medium oil. Out of box this ball revs up great, gets down the lane well and has a dramatic turn on the back end. I must say this ball hit great, but consistancy is a must. This is a great ball when your on top of your game, but can be difficult to control if your not. If you lower the grit of polish on this one it will roll up a little earlier, and still hit great (this also keeps the ball a little more playable). Great ball by Columbia. 9 out of 10.

If you want to buy this ball you need to have oil on the lanes because this ball hooks hard. The good thing about this ball is that it has alot of backend and you can get the angle that you have always dreamed of to where you can get the pins to EXPLODE.This ball is a good ball if you have a house that oils them medium to heavy but if the lanes are dry there is no possible ways you can get it to stay on the lane. So keep bowling and never give up. Have a good day

This ball comes in shiny and with a very tacky feel. This ball was laid out 4 3/4 by 4 1/2. First time I threw it on a second shift condition with a good amount of carrydown though the middle. The ball turn the corner extremely hard of the dry spots but didn't care much for the oil in the backends. A little disappointed I waited to throw it on the fresh the next day. On the fresh this ball went more sideways in the backends then my ReactionRoll. Big reason for that is that the Ricochet retains a lot more energy then Roll. With the added friction this ball absolutely destroyed the pins. Then I tried it one more time. This time on second shift again but after I threw the Reaction Roll for about 5 games and burned up the lane a little. The ball still got through really clean and now had tremendous pop in the backends. This ball needs friction. Don't expect this ball to make U turns in oil. Over all a very goodball for medium and fresher lane conditions. Chris(BuddiesProShop.com) <scr
