Brunswick Ultimate Inferno Bowling Ball

(226 reviews) Write a Review

Reaction Characteristics The Ultimate Inferno is a heavy oil ball designed for bowlers who prefer Reactive over Particle coverstocks. The Ultimate Inferno uses the same core as the original Inferno but combines it with a solid 800-grit dull version of Activator coverstock. Compared to the original Inferno: -The Ultimate Inferno will match-up better to oily lane conditions, longer patterns and heavy carry down. -The Ultimate Inferno will match-up better for bowlers who struggle with excessively long ball reaction. -The Ultimate Inferno will match-up better on heavily oiled - over/under lane conditions. Brunswick’s new Activator Coverstock has quickly established a reputation for excellence in ball reaction, durability and longevity of ball reaction. On the lanes, Activator Coverstock is clean through the heads with excellent mid-lane recovery and a strong arcing back-end reaction that creates powerful pin action.

I bowl wednesdays in a house with a 40 foot heavy oil pattern with clean back ends. I was bowling my EPX T1 , and noticed it couldn't handle the floor well enough, it kept sailing on the carry down just enough to give me a inconsistant back end, failing to come up several times. I have alot of hand, with good speed, a high track, and high rev rate. I bought the Ultimate Inferno, drilled pin at 3 o,clock, with the cg out a little of the mid line. For strongest reaction. This ball rips throught the oil better than any ball ever made!!! It rolls through carry down as if it isn't even there. Most consistant, powerfully strong, arcing hook ever. It is the absolute Heavy oil ball of this decade. Length : Early roll Hook: Serious hard arc Carry: you better believe it. It is a must have ball, for anyone wanting to move in oil consistanly, with plenlty of drive through the pocket.

this ball is a great heavy oil ball and a ball for carrydowned lanes. if it hits the dry at all it will hook way too early and wont stop.i only used it for 120 games or so and it died alredy. this is the first ball i hav experienced that with. this ball probably wasnt the right ball for because i only hav a medium ball speed and put more than average revs on the ball. overall this ball was way too strong for me. its a good heavy oil ball and hits like a truck. i dont know why it was the best selling ball last year. the hammer saw blade should have been. i mostly had to play either deep inside or 3rd arrow -2nd arrow

I originaly bought this ball in June 2004, then I bought another Ultimate inferno in october. I have owned over 30 balls over the years, and this is the only time I ever bought the same ball twice. The only problem with this ball is I did notice a change in performance sooner than normally, but the performance is really good. Wow is this ball verstile. I've used it on house and several different sport patterns, and its very consistant. It has a very controled arcing backend and is easy to create several different entry angles. If your looking for a very controlable benchmark ball, this will fit the bill. By far the best ball I've bought in years.

On a scale of 1-10 I give the Ultimate Inferno a 9.5. I really do hope I can bowl a 300 game with it before I am done using it. Not sure if I’ll do anything about the cover stock. If the ball does end up having problems I may just get another Ultimate Inferno or get an Intense Inferno. In closing is worth getting if you have to deal with medium-heavy lane conditions. I promise you will not be disappointed with this ball. Thank you for listening to my report on the Ultimate Inferno. Take care, HopefulBowler

Over all this is one of the best investments that I have made on a bowling ball. With the sheer this ball has I take it every were with me. It startes out strong, as the night goes on and the plastic balls push out the oil the inferno begins to lose its power and precision. In the thrid game I ruined a possible 300 in the seventh frame I missed my mark by just 1 board, I still hit pocket but left a waving ten pin. I have been leaving more ten and seven pins. But when the ball comes off your hand right you will know it. BEST BALL I OWN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have sustained my highest average in my life with this ball. I have had multiple 700's and have brought my average up to as high as 210. I only consider myself to be a 195 ave. This ball does not leave many 10 pins and does not track out as fast as some of the other junk out there. Brunswick is a consistant company that you will not have many failures with. The only thing that I dont like is that they discontinue products just to make more $. When you get a great ball like this one you should keep it on the market for more than 6 months.<scri

I am on my second Ultimate...and I am still disappointed. I thought it was me, but this ball just dies after about 6 to 8 games bowled. I had the surface refinished on my first one.....but no good. The hook just fades. I clean it and clean it, but it just does not come back. The only way I get the hook back is by slowing down my ball speed.....that just is'nt right. I find that it leaves a ton of 10's and 9's. So I am moving on now.......I thought this was my solution for oily conditions......you live and you learn. I get more hook with mt Smokin than this ball. 9/23 edit.....Last time out i tried it again. Soaked up too much oil and needs a resurfacing I think. I don't know what to do. Got a tip to try the Total Shock & Awe. Think I will try it.

I iv got mine drilled pin above the ring finger with the CG swung out and it still rolls up fairly early, so a bit of scothbrite and polish does the trick to even it out. This matched up with the Legends Satisfaxion is a killer partnership, dont really need to carry anything else in the bag on a league night. I would definatly say its well worth the money. As for the coverstock iv had my sanded and polished a few times and its still going strong. So can say i agree with a lot of the reviews on this ball

This is really a great ball that also looks nice!!!! Excellent ball for heavy oil. Very nice smooth reaction. Great smooth rolling ball that is very predictable after you re-sand the ball. After using this ball for 3-6 games the ball will not react the same. It really is a pain to sand it to 600 grit then to 800 grit every time after 3-6 games of use, but is definitely worth it when you are bowling with it after sanding it....nice smooth reaction!!!! I would recommend this ball to anyone who can put up with it!!!!!!! It is a very good ball though!!! Threw a pretty good game with it, 264!!! <s

When I posted my last review, I hadn't had a chance to really throw the Ultimate Inferno on the lane conditions that it is really made for. I had been throwing it on lighter oil condtions and having to throw it harder than I am comfortable. Tonite I got a chance to bowl on prime conditions. Newly stripped and resurfaced lanes with a 40 ft pattern. My god, this ball just cut right through the oil. Tracked out nicely and then hit its break point, faced up and flushed the pocket every time. All I had to was get it near the pocket and I would strike. The entry angle was perfect and I never left a 10 pin. Left a couple 9 pins but that does happen. I ended up shooting 224-226-241 for a 691, my best series this summer. I love this ball, and I can't wait to get into a league with oily lanes when I can use this every week. Definately gonna get another one of these when this one wears out.

It's an extremely versatile heavy oil ball that hooks and just keeps on hooking...there is no stopping this ball. When it hits, it will carry just about anything. Be carefull though, if you get this ball too far out with too much speed, it will recover, but the entry angle will be too extreme and it will leave a lot 10 pins. Once your line starts to break down, get this thing off the rack immediately, or you will start leaving splits everywhere. But I have to say nice things about this ball cause the first two times i threw it I shot 635 and 612....not bad for getting used to it and throwing it on a summer league house shot. All in all, a great ball, but not as versatile as my Columbia Messenger Titanium Low RG.

This ball has become my go to ball when lanes are oiled. I purchased this ball for a local tournament. Drilled it up about 2 hours before the tournament began and never missed the pocket. My average was 183 and I shocked myself a few times. In the first 5 game set 244, 249, 215, 225, 237= 1170 and I made the cut. 2nd 3 game set 269, 235, 238=742 series. I made the final cut and finished 3rd overall. Won enough money in pots and brackets where the ball paid for itself on DAY ONE. I am now averaging 210 in a summer league. Brunswick you have a winner and keep making great balls like this.

This ball was crazy out the box. Shot 690,702,and 711 the first three nights i used it,But after the ball broke in it didn't give me the same kind of perfomance.I have used this ball on a variety of shots including sport shots, tournaments, and house shots.I performed pretty well, just look out for dry lanes.Anyhow would highly suggest this ball to anyone who is lookin for a good ball at a decent price.I can't wait to try the new strike zone to see if that works better for me. Another Brunswick classic
