Layout: 70° x 4 1/4" x 35° When I heard that once you throw this ball, you will forget about your Versa-Max, naturally, I was very skeptical. However, those fears were laid to rest quite quickly. The Melee is everything that was advertised. It has better mid lane, and stronger pop in the back, but still maintains the overall Versa-Max like shape. One thing that I’ve noticed with all the new Brunswick balls (going back to the Wicked Siege), these balls go through the pins better than any other balls I’ve seen, and they just keep getting better and better. The obvious choice is to compare this to the C*System Versa-Max. Both balls have the same general shape, smooth. However, the Melee is stronger in the mids and has better backend reaction, a definite improvement (and a welcomed one). I am looking forward to tinkering with the cover of the Melee and comparing that to my dull Versa, which is possibly my favorite ball of all time). --The opinions expressed are solely those of the writer and not of Brunswick Corporation--
