AMF Nighthawk SPT Bowling Ball

(9 reviews) Write a Review
NIGHT HAWK SPT The Night Hawk franchise just took a wicked curve. Thanks to AMF's exclusive SPT, this new ball has the strongest reaction on the back end of any Night Hawk to date. Its tall core with dual flip blocks offers more torque, which means you get a sharper back end than you'd ever imagined. A sharper back end means you can work from a higher entry angle, which offers more area, better carry and, ultimately, higher scores. Core: Dual torque blocks -- Multipiece Coverstock: SPT (Super Particle Technology) Radius of Gyration: 2.584 with a Flare potential of 6" (0.48) Hook Rating: 13-23 Backend: 20 Finish: 1000 wet-sand sheen finish Weights: 12, 14, 15 and 16 Color: Burgundy with white logo

This was another Shickdaddy reject that I used with success. Bowled a very old house with Guardian on the heads, started with the ball polished and the lanes sanded it for me. About 600 grit worked gret at this old house. The ball would find the hole even when I missed baldly, and would usually carry to boot. I shot 11/12 strikes with it on a night when I had trouble keeping it in a 5 board area at the arrows. Never found a house anywhere else that this ball worked that good in. A couple of games here and there, but seemed like the ball wasn't enough or was too much most of the time.

great versatile ball to have in your arsenal. it'll let you play from down and in or you can swing it but not much. it'll let you play tighter also (inside 15). its very consistant in its roll, and it won't get away from you. i havent encountered any over/under yet. the coverstock is easy to work with, but wether dull or polished, you can expect the same look. and it hit great. you may not get the flying messengers with this one, but you'll still carry most of the light hits and get a good mix. diffenetly worth getting one if you can find one.

I would recommend this ball for a tournament bowler that is looking for a ball to fit in under there extreme heavy oil ball, but there are many other balls out there that will cover the conditions that this ball covers plus alot of other conditions. My dad gave the ball a try after I replaced it and found that it was a great ball for lanes with carry down and burned heads when it is polished. I was never able to get more than one solid game out of it before the over under reactions would start and I would have to change balls again so I gave up on the ball and replaced it.

It was a great ball.........for the first 2 games. I had just recieved the ball used from a friend, and it didnt even fit my hand, yet i could throw it. So I bowled with it....I have a 205 average, but it had been on the downfall when i have been using my storm fire power, so I decided to just give the ball a shot, what the hay. So first game....269....hehe not bad, but i wasnt comfortable with it.....2nd game....279....had 9\ then 9\ again then finished out with strikes....thats right, 10 in a row. and i forgot to mention i got 11 in a row on the first game if u include practice. But i have a chance for an 800 series right? WRONG ball totally wore out and ended up without a 700.....148....can you say embarassing? anyways, great ball for first few games, but make sure you have more than this in your arsenal.

Ball is a passable one. Pin 2.5 - Top Weight - 3. It's over 3 years old now, but I still find it useful in cutting through carrydown. No flip, but a solid move to the pocket. Hits mediocre because of the weak backend, but as long as you hit the pocket, you should be pleased. Ball takes off on dry lanes, even with a low rev rate. Not an exceptional tourney ball, but it works if you need to pull out that 4th game, or if you bowl frequently (like me) on lanes with carrydown. A side note... I have had this ball refinished about 4 times now. The coverstock is relatively thin and wears easily... Ball needs careful cleaning, and you should probably resurface it every six months, even if you don't use it frequently. EDIT: Recently kicked the ball outta my bag... Don't know what happened, it just kinda stopped moving... Ah well...<scri

I picked this one up on ebay real cheap, $36.00 plus shipping undrilled. Not bad for a ball that goes for around $125.00 brand new. Anyway, it's 16 lbs., pin out 3-4, top weight 2.5, drilled stacked leverage 3/38 X 3/38 with a balance hole. I left the cover in it's original condition. It definately is a strong ball especially the way I have it drilled. On a drier lane condition it rolled out way too early and was practically unusable. But then again, this ball isn't designed for dry lanes. On medium to heavier oil is where this ball really shows it's stuff. I play from about the middle and throw out near the channel. For a particle ball, it gets down the lane nicely then makes a strong move to the pocket. No snapping action here. I throw around 15 - 16 mph with good rotation. This seems to be a good speed for this ball to overcome the carrydown. Any faster and it won't make the turn as well. However it doesn't seem to be as effected by carrydown as other reactive balls I have throw

This is really a great ball. I use my high rev throw when I throw this ball which works out great. The core produces lots of flare for great recovery. This ball gets though the fronts better then about any of the particle balls that I have thrown. This ball has a very strong backend and gets a very good entry angle at the pins, which gives the ball a good carry. One of the best things about the ball is how it hits the pins; this thing hits hard, real hard, and just makes the pins explode. I think this ball is a great ball and would be well suited for high to medium rev players that have a good ball speed. I don't think strokers would enjoy the ball quite as much. This ball offers a lot and is one of the best balls I have thrown. I also have an extreme chaos which is very similar to this nighthawk; both are great balls.

I just recently got this ball and it is drilled at 1 oclock nad it has a balance hole. With this ball I stand at about the 15 board and throw it to the 5 board and it comes back with ease. Waht I really like about this ball is that it has a TON of hitting power. this is one of the best balls I have ever had for taking them pins down. This ball does soke up oil but all you need to do is heat it up with a heat gun and it will be like new again. If you like a ball that has power then this is the ball for you.

Drilled flip leverage (pin and cg 33/8ths from axis, with pin 1" from VAL). Gave me great length from this ball, which I polished to 1500grit. The 1000grit sheen is too much surface for a heavy handed player, even with a high RG drill. Very smooth break point, thanks to the particle cover, and hit with great power Regular cleaning is a must with this ball, as they soak the oil up like a sponge.......must get the oil out of these quite often, otherwise it's skids ville....Another great ball in the NightHawk series!! Bargin if you can get one!!
