wish amf still had these available. the tall core and power ring w/ the coverstock work well together. the ball is very predictable and you'll know when to put it away, but can be used over many different lane conditions and styles. you can tweak the coverstock to your liking. its good if you have 2 of them with different layouts and preparations. it will cover a lot of different shots and you'll still get great results. ball works great from down and in, or it'll allow you to open the lanes a bit if you have the shot and hand. its a really good benchmark to start with.

what a great ball. it's my brother's, and i threw it all last year, but thought new equipment would help. not so, i brought this ball back out today, and wow, even after all these years, it works like a charm. smooth arc and hits the pins like a mack truck. not made for a cranker, only strokers should use this ball in my opinion. i have it drilled to hook early, and it turns right where i want it to everytime. very consisten roll, with a look that's unbeatable. the solid black is a favorite of mine, nice and just plain looking. the pins don't care what your ball looks like, they're just go flying anyways. if you can find a ball like this online, i'd buy it, it's a great bargain.<scr

wow, what a ball. just really gives you confidence in your swing and release as you see it smash the pocket. great ball for the college bowler, and it's easy to swing out as well. I've just now started swing my balls out more and this was a great choice for that, comes back early. i'd recommend this for those with a lower ball speed though. if you're speed is a little fast, slow it down, and then try to use this ball. if not, then maybe use some more revs, but i'm not sure how that'll work out for you.

I bought this ball a LONG time ago when I was in 11th grade and when I read the first review of its making by AMF. I was taken by all it coul give so I saved up my money and bought it hoping it could improve me at least 10 pins. However, I improved over 30 pins and I have nothing bad to say about this ball. It's worth every penny and almost got me into the All States. So even now that it is discontinued, if anyone could find it, buy it! because it is one of the best if not, is the best AMF ball ever.

Conistent ball for oily lanes at factory finish. When shined, great skid/flip reaction. In its' timeframe, was probably the best or near best ball out there. Great depth (shined) and great carry. AMF tried to improve and/or improvise the Nighthawk to increase their market; however, each subsequent Nighthawk had its' shortcomings. The original however, still is used by quite a few and continues to rack up high scores. One dull and one shiny and you are ready to tackle any conditions. Today, there are better balls on the market for current conditions - but, there are quite a few balls on today's market that don't measure up to the original Nighthawk.

Over all its a great ball. But must have the lane conditions to play it on, I would buy a New one if they make it again.. Amf are good balls I have four of them I have the nighthawk, Nighthawk M2, Amf XS Bone, Angle eveluotion. Amf balls are very true to form depending on the way you have them drilled, I most of the time have them drilled stright up no side weight at all. That way I can make the ball roll how I want it to they roll very well ,.. And hit very Hard I shot a 790 with the NighthawkM2 256, 278, 256, Never missed the pocket Hight game this year is 290 left the 4 pin the first frame the threw 11 in a row..

This is a ball i got off a friend. I needed something thats gonna absolutely keep my faith. This ball has a dull finish and where i stand with this ball is about board 35 (im a lefty) and i throw it out towards the 2nd arrow then it just glides out, and out, and out towards the gutter, but then its consciouness warms up and switches on as it hugs the edge and comes back with a soul of its own and then it will glide with acceleration into the pins with a force unknown! I usualy thunder the ball down at pace, but even if the bal doesnt hook, have faith my friend the slower you put this ball it will ask and plee for control from you and remember you are in control :-)

When I saw Brian Voss throw it on TV I loved the reaction he got.He threw it shiny down and in and got the most amazing skid /flip into the pocket.A few days later I was browsing a pro shop in Birmingham and bought one on impulse.I drilled it with the pin over the fingers about 6 inches from the PAP and the mass bias in the strong position.Well I was able to duplicate Brian's reaction after polishing the cover, the only problem was that I had to thread a needle to get it to the pocket.I guess i'm not quite as accurate as Brian,LOL.Dulled the cover and it read the mid-lane better making it more predictable. At this point I could hit the pocket all day long, but it hit like a water balloon.Tried it on a lot of different conditions with a lot of different surface preps, but never really found a niche for it.Now I mostly use it in my weekly practice sessions when I want to practice my spare shooting.Since it only carries about 2 per cent of my pocket hits it is ideal for this purpose.

I love this ball from the day i got it till now. This ball has just been a great ball for me as it has my high sanctioned series and the first day i got it i did very good with it. I have a pretty big top wieght so i mean one it gets down there it will hook and if i don't throw it fast enough right into the head pin so i have to be careful about that when the lanes dry up. The day i got this ball i shined it up and will not use it unless its shiny because the reaction i get is a very good one and i wouldn't want it any other way so everytime i bowl shin shin shin. I mean this and my triton are very equal, besides hook, but i love them both and wish to use them a lot more than i have.<scr

The Original Nighthawk is probably the most controllable ball I have ever owned, and that is why it goes everywhere with me. It clears toasty heads and track areas nicely, without rollout. It also makes a good fresh condition ball when there are dry outside boards to work with. I polished the ball before I even drilled it, to be sure that it would skate through dry heads easier. I'm sure it is much more agressive with the factory dull finish. Overall- smooth, controlable arc, even with a very agressive skid-snap drill pattern (pin over ring finger and CG just under it, mass bias in strong position), and extremely strong roll. 10 of 10.<

When this ball hit the maket it liked a medium-heavy shot, but today I would consider it more of a medium ball. The ball got down the lane and had good pop on the back. Polished it made more of a dramatic flip, dull it roll up well to handle heavier oil, but didn;t loose hit. The Nighthawk could throw pins around with ease. This ball created a new line for AMF, but I believe the original was the best of the bunch. This ball was one of the more versitile on the market during the time it was available. This one deserves a strong 9
