I can not say enough about the Zen25. It's very similar to the OG Zen, but the recent upgrades have made something amazing, even better. The cover is new with RB-83 Pearl, and the same Zen core is in there, but now wrapped with the AI additive. I put a 5x4x5 layout on mine, and the combo of roundness, responsiveness, and continuation is beyond impressive. This is one of those balls I can play absolutely anywhere on the lane and have success with. When I threw it up against the OG Zen, the original seemed to be a little quicker off friction, and ever so slightly more forward, where as the Zen25 made a more gradual move left and kept pulling through the pins. This is absolutely a homerun by 900 Global.

I am slightly speed dominant, rev challenged 220-250ish, low tilt and high rotation. The 900 Global Zen 25 is a symmetric pearl reactive that has high flare potential. I drilled mine 60 x2 5/8 x 30 (short pin) and hit it with some surface 500/1000. My axis point is 1 3/8 up and 4 1/4 right. I love this ball because It doesn’t overeact on me. Layout: 45 x 4 1/2” x 35 The Zen 25 immediately reminded me of the Zen Gold Label – very easy through the front part of the lane, with a quick, decisive move down-lane. Due to it's slightly skid-flip nature (though I would not call it “violent”), it is best at home on medium to medium-dry or broken down patterns. It is a great choice to go to after the stronger shiny balls (Origin, Equinox, Attention Star) get to be too much. I have found that it is not as sensitive to oil as the Gold Label could be, which certainly increases its versatility. If the lanes dry up to the point that even the Zen 25 is too much, then one of the shiny Hustles is a perfect step-down.

The latest addition to the Batch 800 series at 900 Global is the Zen 25. There’s been several versions of the Zen before this one and they’ve all been impressive The Zen 25 is living up to that same hype. The 25 features a new pearl coverstock (RB-83) and that’s wrapped around the usual Meditate core. While still providing players a low RG of 2.48, the 25 is designed to be clean through the body of the lane but provide a quick response time when changing direction. The RG will help players retain confidence that the ball will not ‘miss the spot’ too. I’ve drilled one so far and love it. Honestly, it rolls so good that I’m not sure I’ll drill a second one because I wouldn’t know how to make it better. It’s mapped out as 5.5 x 5 x 2.5. This puts the pin just left of my bridge with a slight shift of the cg. From a surface standpoint, I haven’t touched the cover. I’ve thrown it directly out of the box and it rolls great. We bowl on a high friction surface and it’s been usable during our normal league on the house shot as well as some sport conditions once the pattern transitions. The Zen 25 will go with me everywhere I go for the time being. It rolls great and compliments balls such as the Origin, Ion Max, and Rock Star. Go drill one!

-900 GLOBAL ZEN 25- Cover Stock: RB83 PEARL RG: 2.47 DIFFERENTIAL: .053 LAYOUT: 4.5X4X1.75 ZEN 25! The meditate core is back paired with A.I. Technology and the new RB83 PEARL cover stock. We’ve been throwing this ball for a few days now and it’s impressive. More length than the Phaze A.I. and more angular off the breakpoint. This ball will be used more when there’s a lot of friction built up in the front part of the lane. The Phaze A.I is a much rounder shape and will be used earlier in the set than the zen 25. Compared to the original zen you’ll see it be longer and sharper off the breakpoint.

  • Zen25- If original Zen and Gold Label had a baby…

Posted by Darren Wong on Feb 14th 2025

The Zen25 is the best of both worlds. The original Zen was one of Global 900’s most universally loved balls. It had the ball motion typical of Global balls where it tended to roll forward down lane. While I never threw the Zen Gold Label, it appeared to me to have strong, continuous back end motion. The Zen25 blends the best characteristics of both. It features a new Reserve Blend (RB) 83 pearl reactive coverstock which pushes easily through the fronts, but doesn’t overshoot the midlane. Inside the symmetrical Mediate core from the original has been boosted by A.I. The RG is on the low side so it revs off your hand, then with a high differential it has a smooth continuous ball motion down lane. It’s a great ball to fit in the middle of your arsenal and should be good on many conditions. The description of effortless length, explosive backend reaction in a smooth and controlled motion is exactly right. I drilled mine 4 ½ from my PAP.

Zen 25 Lane Condition: 43ft House shot Layout: 80 x 4 1/4 x 40 Finish: Box (Power Edge) The Zen 25 release is a nice resurrection of the OG Zen Pearl from 2020. Compared to its predecessor, the Zen 25 features the same Meditate Symmetrical Core that was originally used in the original, but this time combined with the signature A.I. tech outer core to allow the ball to have a controlled yet powerful motion. Featuring the new 83B Pearl cover, the Zen 25 adds itself to the 900Global High-Performance lineup that is made for medium-heavy oil patterns/conditions. Overall, this ball shapes earlier than its predecessor, (2020 Zen Pearl) and provides a slightly sharper angular motion thanks to the PowerEdge finish. If you’re looking for a versatile and strong Pearl to add to the bag, I’d highly recommend visiting your local STORM VIP pro shop and try this one out. You won’t regret it! The Zen is back!! The new Zen 25 features the new Reserve Batch 83 Pearl coverstock with the Meditate A.I. core. At 15 pounds the Zen 25 has a low RG of 2.48 with a differential of .053. I drilled my Zen 25 with the same layout as my original Zen which I liked so much. The layout is 5x5x2 which puts the pin above my middle finger. Comparing the 25 to the original, I see 2 to 3 boards more total hook from the 25. The RB 83 cover has some serious “teeth” to it so this ball reads the midlane very well for a pearl and has a strong continuous arc motion on the backend. I didn’t think the original Zen could be improved upon, but 900 Global has done it. The new Zen 25 is much more controlled and predictable without sacrificing any total hook or hitting power. This ball is one that will be in my bag for a long time! Don’t miss out on this one…this ball is a definite winner!!!

Zen 25 is the new and improved pearl Zen we have been waiting for. Featuring the same great Meditate core enhanced with A.I. tech, this Zen revs up more strongly and continues better than the original. The Zen 25 also features a new pearl coverstock that can handle more oil than the original. All of this combines for a fresh take on what SPI is known for: strong pearl balls. Compared to the Phaze A.I., the Zen 25 picks up in the midlane more, and has a more gradual and continuous hook shape. For me, the Zen 25 has been a great 2 ball in league behind a Summit Ascent or Phaze 2. I can get as deep as I want with the Zen 25 and it never misses the spot and always splits the 8-9! You do NOT want to miss this one. -Chase Valenzuela

Global ZEN 25 Ball specs: Mediate symmetric weight block with A.I. core wrapped with the all-new RB 83 pearl reactive coverstock. Cover is prep with Power Edge finish compound. Layout: 5 x 5 x 4 Tested on Pro_lane and HPL lane surfaces with 42 ft and 44 ft house patterns with both centers using new KEGEL Atlas machines. Here you go… During my practice and testing, I was impressed with the overall shape and reaction of the new ZEN 25. I may be one of the few people that did not fall in love with the OG Zen. I was more the Zen Gold Label guy. Which brings me to my next point, Comparing these 2 Zens, I found the ZEN 25 a little earlier in backend reaction, but not as sharp as the Gold Label. The Zen 25 reminds me more like the Hyped Pearl from Roto Grip from a few years ago. Not a benchmark ball for me, a half step down, my current benchmark ball is the Storm Equinox, so it will be one step down, with the next step down would be the all new Roto Grip Rock Star, then the Roto Grip X-Ray. Going up from the Equinox would be the Attention Star S2 then Global Origin to complete my current winter / spring arsenal out for league play.

LANE CONDITION: Length: 44ft Volume:Medium Type: THS Cover: Lightly scuffed 2000 by hand with lane shine Layout: 4 x 5 x 2 VLS The Rebirth of Zen The 900 Global Zen 25 is the Rebirth of the OG Zen in the 801 series high-performance lineup engineered for medium to heavy oil conditions. It features the same Meditate Symmetric Core wrapped with A.I. tech known for its low RG and high differential, which promotes a powerful controlled motion. Wrapped in the NEW RB 83 Pearl Reactive coverstock and finished with NEW Power Edge polish, providing an improved cleaner skid through the front part of the lane and a larger angular backend reaction. Bowling on the new 44' THS league pattern it was definitely earlier than the OG but with a profound readable motion compared to my OG. I beleive the newer tech is a great improvement on a proven ball. In my video I compared it to the original Zen I can see the 2-3 board difference in reaction. Still maintains the big tumbling roll I expect but with better continuation. I was able to get a full league session in and near the track without typically making a big jump left or changing balls. So the ability to handle volume and transition was paramount. The new RB83 pearl and Power Edge polish are the biggest factor allowing the ZEN25 to maintain energy longer Comparisons with other balls in the SPI line (Summit Peak, Optimum Idol Pearl, Phaze AI) you would see a notable difference in shape and response to friction as well as the hook/roll phaze. Not as forward or hockey reaction, but a rounder shape suitable for bowlers seeking a ball that offers both control and power. The NEW 900 Global Zen 25 is a versatile bowling ball that delivers a strong backend reaction and consistent performance on medium to heavy oil patterns. Visit your local VIP Proshop today.

  • The Original Zen - for 2025

Posted by Rich Kollmeyer on Feb 11th 2025

The 900 Global Zen 25 goes back to the Zen’s roots with a strong symmetric pearl. The 2025 version gets the Reserve Blend 83 coverstock compared to the S77 on the original. The Zen 25 rolls a bit earlier than the original, but that may be in part to drilling differences - I drilled the original pin down and never really seemed to match up with it - I’m one of the few that didn’t throw the original a lot. The Zen 25 seems to be more forgiving - perhaps it’s due to the addition of AI to the outer core or the switch to Power Edge for the finish, I’ve found it to be great at getting down lane and provides a bit more overall hook. The Zen, the Zen Gold Label, and the Zen 25 are going to be very similar balls and if you’re looking for a replacement for either of those, you won’t be disappointed. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: The Zen line has been well received by many bowlers. Bowlers looking for length through the front and a more angular breakpoint when a ball sees friction will find good use for this ball provided you have good revs or friction to help the ball grab. The Zen 25 is a good looking ball and the Zen line always gets attention. For me and others I have drilled for, this ball just seemed to go too long. I do not have a lot of revs and it is just too long on what I bowl on. When I did get lined up the carry especially on light hits was very good. I feel the Zen 25 would be better suited for me at one of our higher friction centers here or on a burn shot. I would call this a weaker (due to the length) to medium ball. This ball fits between my Tropical Surge Midnight and my Origin in total hook. I think this would be a good dry house shot ball or be suited for the no thumb bowler. Summary: The Zen 25 goes long and recovers when it sees friction. The Zen 25 is good on dry or the burn. This ball should be good for higher rev rates. • Zen 25 is Zen Ball Good!

Posted by Devon Radford on Feb 8th 2025

This Zen 25 is a huge upgrade from my Original Zen. The layout is 35 X 4 X 40, which provides me a smooth, predictable, yet continuous motion through the pins. With this layout, I can keep my trajectory angle to the pocket closer, and with this 83 pearl coverstock, it’s definitely clears the midlane with ease, and stores enough energy for the pins. Definitely great for a ball to transition. I willl get another Zen 25 to open up the lane and really allow more flare for lanes that require a little more dynamic down lane response. But overall, Zen Ball Good!

Coverstock - RB 83 Pearl Reactive Finish - Power Edge Core - Meditate Symmetric Core RG - 2. 48 Differential - . 053 The Zen 25 is the newest ball in the 900 Global 800 Blend Series Line. Back is the proven, reliable Meditate Symmetric Core, but with A.I added, wrapped with the brand new RB 83 Pearl Reactive. The Original ZEN was one of my favorite pearl balls in a long time and was very excited to try the Zen 25, and it did not disappoint. The new RB 83 Pearl cover definitely is very clean through the front part of the lane, but the core takes over in the midlane and helps it pick up a little quicker than most pearl balls, while still having plenty of backend. Compared to the original Zen, the Zen 25 is cleaner and gets the down the lane a little more, with a sharper backend angle.

Ball Specs: Zen 25 Cover: RB 83 Pearl Reactive Core: Meditate Symmetric AI Core Review: The 900 Global Zen 25, released on January 17, 2025, is the latest addition to the Zen series, offering a fresh take on one of the most successful ball lines in recent history. It features the trusted Meditate™ Symmetric Core, now enhanced with A.I. Core technology, improving energy transfer and pin carry with a low RG of 2.48 and a high differential of 0.053, allowing for a strong yet predictable motion. Wrapped in the RB 83™ Pearl Reactive coverstock with a Power Edge™ polish, the Zen 25 easily clears the front part of the lane before making a sharp, angular move off the dry. Designed for medium to heavy oil conditions, it provides more length and a stronger move at the breakpoint compared to the original Zen, delivering a skid/flip reaction with increased hitting power and pin curry. Compared to other Zen models, the Zen 25 fits between the Zen and Zen Soul, offering more length than the Soul but a more angular motion than the original Zen, making it a great benchmark ball for those seeking a strong yet controllable pearl symmetric option. Layout: 4 1/2 x 3 x 2 Surface: Power Edge Rev Rate: 470 Rotation: 60* Tilt: 13* The Zen 25 is the newest rendition of the original popular Zen series this time with AI technology. The Zen 25 uses the Meditate AI core paired with the new RB 83 Pearl coverstock and finished with Power Edge polish. This combination gives a slightly earlier read and more down lane motion than the original Zen. The Zen 25 is unmistakable in terms of its great presence on the lane and on the shelf. The red, black and silver color scheme really makes this ball pop. I was able to test this on my 44ft typical house shot. On my house pattern, I saw ample mid lane roll and strong continuous and angular backend. From this ball reaction, it is best used during the transition game 2 and/or game 3 when there is more overall friction. This ball reaction tends to be too responsive for the fresh but can work in the right environment. One week, I tested the ball in league on the fresh, the ball reaction was close to being right but was slightly too angular for what I needed. Ended up working great for games 2 and 3 opening up the lane more left to right. The following week, I was on a pair with more overall friction and the ball was fantastic on the fresh. The lanes started as if it were game 2 essentially so was able to blend the lane more consistently. I think the best place to use the Zen 25 on the fresh is for more medium length or medium oil volume environments. Long patterns and high volume make the ball have trouble slowing down in the right spot. Adding surface to the coverstock can of course make the ball read the lane earlier for those conditions. I recommend this ball to anyone who loved the original Zen and wants a replacement, those looking for a first transition angular ball or those who just like to see more of that angular backend motion. Comparing this to the Storm Phaze AI, I saw the Phaze a little cleaner overall with more angular motion. The coverstock strength of the Zen 25 makes the ball read the midlane stronger with more of a continuous backend. I can see the ability of having both balls in the bag on lane conditions that require more angular motions overall. The Zen 25 would be first out of the bag followed by the Phaze AI. This ball is a must have as it is the perfect pearl symmetrical to blend out the lanes when they transition. I have found this to be my step down off the bigger asym or solid symmetrics when I begin to open my angles up. I have found this more overall than the original Zen and a step up from the Phaze AI. If something cleaner is needed I can go to the Phaze AI or if I am seeing more oil and need it to slow down faster and stay on line the Zen will be the ball I go to. This is usually the first ball out the bag when they transition and my angles begin to open. This ball is predictable and gives plenty of continuation. This ball works well on both house and sport conditions. https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fshorts%2FYFbBE31gGig%3Ffbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR0xYweMK_zbFdjX5ZOnBn--6UvnUyMxM7MvI-RtZyE32wJIesULtFJAcQA_aem_oQ8pPpcFBNCT2tKfDlsV7A&h=AT1OV0tWePP3T_bcGh1tf_ZqD36vIPLFc-kbm8crQLO_BBVyhIE5kXwkk7RfDoiGRJOQhgHEJY0CTl9s6trHWLKLDaTquw02GDE0rA9ceLAxwI66SvzhGHsaBS7neCpda37usCmxP9H-aAxvva5KrQs&__tn__=-UK-R&c[0]=AT0SzJhhBxYADZEzYvMOgfnG_QBiauN-PXAU6uFKDbhJMu88veok8tkfRewku9tDaBmEn15UtSYGZSEMbfcDBYtk0GI0HgWU3E-yLLXbCwZBDUxgsLHK16Vy9FNyc4XKQ3lLrQ65BYDteM5wp3gM80C6HCl8t9p1i98Rm0Wigvt9lq0pNhqeSoHCv_F-Jc7F73x6e7OkEeDBdg7uD1wHNMg

I drilled my ZEN 25 at 4.5 x 4 x 4.5 which is pin under the ring finger for me. This was an old favorite layout for me on strong pearls and I used to put a weight hole down if more flare was needed. Obviously, no weight holes anymore but still wanted to see this strong of a ball with a smaller transition. I have thrown it at the box finish which is power edge polish. This ball is very strong. I threw it up against some other pearls that I have in the PHAZE AI and OPTIMUM IDOL PEARL. I also recall my original ZEN motion as I had one up until about a year ago. The ZEN 25 is very continuous with this layout compared to the other two which both have pin up layouts. It corners slightly less than my PHAZE AI and definitely moves more than my OI PEARL which has a weaker layout over the middle finger. I almost think I could go pin up on the ZEN25 and have close to the same motion as the PHAZE AI so might be overlap to have both of these in your bag at the same time unless you do something like one with a pin under or keep surface on to separate them both. If you found your ZEN with the original, this one is slightly stronger. If you still plan to keep both, then maybe touch your ZEN 25 with surface to get some gap between them and you should have a great 1-2 punch!

The Zen 25 added with A.I technology and the new RB 83 Pearl Reactive Coverstock. The original Zen was just okay ball for me, as it had a tendency to go forward for me with my ball roll. With the new coverstock on the RB 83 which is cleaner for me and gives me better motion down lane. I drilled mine with a 4.5 inch pin up. Zen 25 is going to be a better option for me. I have used the Zen 25 on house and the medium sport patterns. I have it below the Idol and summit ascent and above the RG Hustle's and IQ's. The Zen 25 should be a big hit with the great colors and good medium ball motion that it provides. Shooting a 278 out of the box on a higher friction lane surface with a 41’ medium volume house shot sure didn’t suck. I knew what to expect but this soared above my expectations. Expect a ball that reads the mid lane exceedingly well and shapes through the pin deck. In transition, when moving to deeper inside angles it did struggle with over under but when the backends were still clean the ball reaction was truly spot on.

The Power Edge finish provides a great blend for a skid/flip reaction in the 800 series line. For me, I left the OOB surface on this ball and have not changed it at all. Currently, for THS conditions I'm rolling on two older HPL surfaces that have a lot of friction. I noted above I did not have a need to adjust the surface of this ball. For me, my high rev rate and slower ball speed generally preferes some surface on most pearls. As a general rule, I personally prefer more control of bigger pearls in the arsenal. Instead I slightly adjusted my layout to not be as quick downlane and that has been the right call. I was able to test the Zen 25 on a 43 foot typical house pattern. The Zen 25 for me was an easy read as I sent it down the lane. Along with several other testers most have been impressed with the Zen series of bowling balls. Compared to two original Zens (1500 polished and Reacta Gloss) the Zen 25 goes a touch less through the front part of the lane. In addition the Zen 25 has great angle similar to the original Zens. I'm excited to see how long I can stay in the Zen 25 as lanes transition. More to come on this ball. Be sure to try out the 900 Global Zen 25 and fill that gap for league and medium volume patterns. Drilling pattern: 4 3/8 x 2 1/2 PAP: 4.5 over x 1 up Pin position: Above bridge I have been waiting a very long time to put a new Zen in my bag. The original Zen is one of my top 3 favorite balls of all time and the Zen Soul is probably in the top 5. There is something about the Meditate core that really matches up well with my game. I drilled this ball very similar to my original Zen but the end product is distinctly different. My original Zen liked to read the middle of the lane harder and be a little tamer/rounder off the end of the pattern. The Zen 25 goes a bit longer before making a much sharper move off the breakpoint. I tested this ball on a fresh THS and when thrown well, the ball hits like a truck. The carry was incredible. However, on shots that were a little left of target, the ball did what it was supposed to and made a very sharp turn and I left two separate 4-9 splits because the ball was so sharp downlane. Maybe once a little oil gets in the cover it will tame it down a bit, but this will definitely be a good ball for moving left and opening up your angles. It is certainly fun to see this type of motion when needed, and the carry was very encouraging. This ball is significantly stronger than my other shiny symmetrical piece, the Xponent Pearl, and I believe both will be useful at different times. Brent Ritchie SPI Pro Shop Staff Member
