900 Global Viking Conquest Bowling Ball

The Viking Conquest by 900 Global is the latest addition to the Batch 900 Blend and it’s the strongest ball in the current lineup. Our gurus in Utah have created the RB94 coverstock which is the strongest version that’s been made to date. If you drilled a Viking or saw one go down the lane, that ball gave us a clean and whippy motion, but the biggest difference between that and the Conquest is the coverstock. This ball is digs hard and still provides a strong motion at the end of the pattern. I’ve drilled one so far and have had a bunch of honor scores with it. It’s mapped out as 5 x 3.5 x 1. This puts the pin a fair distance above my ring finger and the CG just above my thumb. I like the shorter pin-VAL distance to try and maximize flare without the ball burning up. Also, I put a small amount of polish on the Conquest just to take some of the teeth out of the cover. That’s helped the ball retain energy but still dig hard in the mid-lane. I feel like the Conquest compliments my Viking, Rocket AI, and Gremlin Tour-X extremely well. If I’m following a bunch of urethane or if there’s some sludge down-lane, the Viking Conquest plows through it extremely well and it’s currently in my bag wherever I go! Go drill one!

The Viking Conquest has been a pleasant surprise with its smooth, dependable motion and impressive versatility. It gets through the front of the lane cleanly, reads the midlane with confidence, and provides a strong, continuous backend that isn't overly sharp. Whether I'm bowling on fresh conditions or navigating transition, the Conquest gives me a predictable reaction that allows me to stay aggressive while maintaining excellent control. The 900 Global Viking Conquest has been an outstanding addition to my arsenal. Mine is drilled 55×4.5×40 with a PAP of 4 1/8" right and 7/8" up, giving me a strong, forward-continuing motion that excels on higher-volume oil and shorter sport patterns where controlling the backend is critical. The Conquest reads the lane with confidence and keeps its motion predictable through the pins. I've also found that adding polish transforms it into an excellent option for blending out the wet/dry on a typical house shot while still maintaining its strong, reliable shape. Its versatility and predictability make it a ball I can trust whenever I need a controlled, continuous reaction.

Viking Conquest is the newest solid asym in the SPI lineup. I thought this ball might overlap with the Alpha Crux too much when it was first announced, but I have actually found that this ball separates itself in terms of shape. For me, Alpha Crux is pretty clean, pretty smooth, and a little forward down lane. While Viking Conquest is about the same strength, it seems to make a slightly more aggressive move off the spot, while also continuing through the pins a bit more. I would almost call this ball a baby Ion Max in terms of shape. It has the same midlane pick-up, same sweeping continuation through the 8-pin, but overall, I think Ion Max still has more hook potential. If I need a solid that feels a little cleaner, this ball is a great option. Especially for blending out over/under conditions or softening up my breakpoint on something flatter without feeling like I'm giving away any hits. The single density core allows me to keep my angles shallower, where with Ion Max I find myself having to get deeper and steeper to keep the ball on line. WOW. This ball is strong. I was looking at a new big ball to fit in the arsenal and this ball fits perfect. It’s still very continuous down lane which is hard to find when a core and cover are this strong. I loved the original viking so to be this is a great upgrade to start on the fresh oily lane conditions.

The next release in the new but very impressive 900 series line is the Viking COnquest. Following up from the surprisingly popular Viking, the Conquest invades us with a solid reactive coverstock. WIth updating my equipment last year from 14lbs back to 15lbs, at the encouragement from Staff Manager Mike Sinek, I replaced my Attention Star with the Viking and it did not disappoint me at all. The ball motion and pin carry are identical on both balls and I still enjoy using my Viking when needed. Looking to replace my Roto Grip Hyperdrive RST solid, I went with the Viking Conquest with a little stronger layout then the RST I had. I was thinking I was going to get the “soft” and little earlier reaction, but instead I got a pin blasting medium length ball reaction with a mid to strong reaction in the backend. I rolled a 300 game in the first set with it and I was 5 boards right of my usual starting target with the RST and using the same target down lane at the end of the pattern right between the two tracer boards. One of my best sets I had in 2 years at Colony Park Lanes with the Conquest and I usually have to switch out of solid coverstocks by the 3rd game, but I am able to stay in the Conquest all the way through 4 to 5 games with only minor adjustments. I am very impressed with the Conquest and it will be the FIRST ball out on the rack at Colony Park Lanes and Hanover Bowling Centre without any hesitation. This ball gives me exactly what I want when I need something to pick up in the midlane and still continue through the pins. It reads the lane early, gives me a strong and controlled shape, but doesn't feel like it burns up and quit down lane.

Strongest ball I’ve get thrown. A few boards stronger than my Alpha Crux. Going to work great on anything over 30mL or if you are very speed dominant.

Layout: 4 x 6 x 1 1/2 Surface: 2000 Abralon Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The new Viking Conquest brings back the Strobe AI core from the original Viking but now is paired with the new RB94 Solid coverstock which is 900 Global's strongest cover to date since switching the naming conventions. Designed for heavy oil, the Conquest is early and smooth but continues better than some other traditional Strong Solid Asymmetrical balls. I was able to test this on the 2026 PBA Badger Pattern which is 50 feet. I went with this layout because I tend to bowl a lot on older lane surfaces. My typical 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 pin up layout generally reads the lane too strong up front for these type of stronger coverstocks. The layout I used slows the overall transition down so it gets down the lane with ease and then can rev up normally. This allows me to use this type of ball more often than I would typically be able to. What I saw was pretty clean through the front of the lane but with a strong midlane roll and fairly good continuation. On the fresh, I was able to play both up 5 and up around 12 at the break point. The center I am in has a good amount of friction towards the gutter, so I was able to play out which may not be traditional. Compared to my typical layout mentioned above, this current layout was a few feet cleaner overall allowing me to roll the ball in front of me without it hooking too early. As the lanes transitioned around board 5, it was hard to stick with it as the pattern then hooked a lot early on and moving left was outside the capabilities of the pattern. Playing around 12 at the break point, I was able to have a lot of hold on the 50ft. I was able to get the ball as far right as about 8 and can keep it in around 14 so ample room for error. What was nice this time as the lanes transitioned, I was able to move left with my feet and play the oil. The Conquest was strong enough to read the oil but still clean enough to push through all the oil when I missed inside. As a result, it will be a ball to consider using much more on a variety of patterns. I recommend this ball for those who want a stronger option then the Vengeance and that is asymmetrical. Designed for heavy oil again, it will mostly only work on fresher conditions. If your house pattern has enough oil, I would consider this one. It is not as smooth as a Storm Ion Max and stronger than the Roto Grip Transformer. Those who like to throw the ball more up the lane will enjoy this ball more as well. Those with a higher rev rate and who like to hook the balls a lot, may struggle with this one. Smooth traction is probably the best description. The Viking Conquest is designed for volume. As the fronts begin to dry, it can begin reading too early and lose some downlane motion. When transition develops, a cleaner ball with more length becomes the better choice (Viking). Bowlers looking for a skid/flip reaction or dramatic backend angle may also find the Conquest too smooth for their style. Best lane conditions would be fresh house shots with higher volume, longer sport patterns and flat tournament conditions where control is critical. Lets call it my benchmark heavy oil solid asym. *Comparison to the Original Viking: Although both balls utilize the Strobe A.I. core, they create distinctly different shapes. `The original Viking (Polished Hybrid) clears the front part of the lane more easily and responds more aggressively once it encounters friction. It is an excellent option once the pattern begins to transition or when additional backend motion is needed. *The Viking Conquest is significantly sooner, creating more traction and a smoother overall motion. For my arsenal, the V-Con is the ball I start with on fresh heavier conditions before transitioning into the original Viking as the lane opens up. The Viking Conquest offers a smoother more readable shape, it emphasizes midlane control and continuous motion, making it easier to repeat quality shots on a variety of patterns. In the Arsenal: The Viking Conquest serves as my heavy-oil benchmark asymmetrical. It fits above the original Viking by offering earlier traction and increased control while sitting just below the Harsh Reality in overall hook potential. This is ball is designed for heavier volumes of oil. This is that “big ball” to have in your bag if you are facing heavier oil patterns. The Strobe A.I. core along with the strongest coverstock, RB 94 (out of 100), provides a balance of midlane read and assertive backend reaction. I drilled mine 4 3/4 x 4 1/8 x 2 1/4 (50 x 4 3/4 x 30 using the dual angle layout). This layout provides a balanced motion of midlane read and backend reaction. I chose this layout to provide a little more versatility from front to back, along with keeping my angles much closer to start with, and gradually give me a little more angle as the lanes transition. I love the 900 Global Viking, so I had to get the Viking Conquest. I bought 2, getting one drilled pin up and the other pin down. I love how the Conquest goes down the lanes. Its a high flaring, Heavy oil, Fresh Oil ball. The new RB94 coverstock is amazing and matched up with the Strobe AI core, this ball " Leads the charge " and calculated domination! It reads the mid lane very well, and its awesome to see what it does after that. It looks amazing rolling down the lane and it sure takes charge! If your looking for the 1st ball out of your bag during league, or bowling on some sport shots, this ball will amaze you. We were huge fans of the Origin line but were disappointed in the overall popularity of the Origin EX. So far we are liking this big solid asymmetric release a lot more. The original Viking looked great on fresh oil and sport patterns but we feel it didn’t blend the lanes or allow you to stay in a bowling ball with that cover for multiple games. This stronger cover doesn’t seem to lock up mid lane and provides us with less over/under reaction. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 5x4x2 (pin is above bridge). It is in our eyes a better option on fresh, heavier oil options than its original form. Keep in mind this is the strongest core/cover combination 900 Global has used in the recent era. If you like a ball that hooks, this is the perfect fit for you. This ball compares in shape and strength to the Equinox Solid and Ion Max Solid but has characteristics that set it apart. The Viking Conquest has been a really solid ball for me with the 4 × 4 × 2.5 layout. It gives me a strong read in the middle of the lane while still continuing well through the pins. When I need something smooth and predictable, this is a ball I can trust.

As a one-handed bowler with a 14.5 mph ball speed and a 350 rev rate, I'm always looking for equipment that can handle heavier oil without giving up continuation through the pins. The Viking Conquest is the newest addition to 900 Global. This asymmetrical ball features the returning Strobe AI Core (found from the original Viking), wrapped around the all-new RB 94 Solid Reactive Cover-stock. With a 2000 abralon finish, and a high flare potential rate, the Viking Conquest is 900 Global’s strongest hooking ball to date. I drilled this ball at 50 x 5 x 35. My first impression was, wow, this ball is strong! Be that it may, it still creates a smooth and controllable ball motion down lane. The Viking Conquest hooks earlier than the Alpha Crux but doesn’t flare as much in the back end with striking predictability. If I had to line up a comparison of solids I would go: Alpha Crux > Viking Conquest > Equinox Solid. The Viking Conquest would be a great 1-2 punch to complement the original Viking when contesting on heavy/fresh lane conditions and you need a big core ball to play straighter angles until the transition opens up, resulting in switching to a pearl/hybrid option. While I felt the original Viking went a little too long for me this is not the case with the Conquest. I was able to move far left (for me) and the ball never stopped. I am very happy with the motion, drive and carry I see from this ball. This ball will perform best in oil and on heavier sport or tournament patterns. I will put this ball above my Vengeance in total hook and at the top of my hook chart beside the Aloha Crux. I tested the Viking Conquest at my home center on a longer Kegel Pattern with plenty of volume so I Could really get an idea of what they did with the new cover. I noticed right away the ball was picking up the mid-lane very aggressively. Even with the added volume I saw shape before the end of the pattern and the ball was pretty forward off the back of the pattern. I expected to be forced left with the length of the pattern but I could belly the ball much more on the fresh than I had expected. I had more forgiveness on small misses right as a result so I was pretty happy with the ball motion. I think the Viking Conquest will look best for speed dominant/rev challenged players and on higher volume patterns. I couldn't expect this to be in play much longer than game one on your typical house pattern. I've been throwing the 900 Global Viking Conquest drilled 4 x 4 x 4, and it's been an excellent choice on heavier oil patterns. The layout gives me a strong, readable motion with an early midlane roll while still maintaining plenty of continuation through the pins. The Viking Conquest is a lot smoother than what I was expecting and it rolls a little weaker to me than my Vengeance. It also seems to not be as over/under for me like the Viking was. I will be curious how this ball will be on some tougher conditions. 900 Global has definitely been making some really good equipment and has some shapes that the other brands might not have out. It really helps fill out most bowlers’ arsenals.
