Viking at RGR
900 Global Viking: Strobe A.I. sore with RB90 Hybrid coverstock - surface finished at 2000ab with Power Edge finishing product. Layout: 5 ½ x 2 ½ x 3 ½ My Specs: Rev rate 420’s, ball speed 15.3 to 15.8 mph off the hand, axis tilt of 16 degrees and axis rotation of 70 degrees, PAP is 3 15/16th up 3/16th. Tested on Pro-lane surface on a 43ft medium volume house pattern and HPL with a 44ft house pattern. The 900 Global Viking was a breath of fresh air for me in my traveling league bags. Bowling in 2 completely different houses with different lane panels, length and volume of oil, and even conditioner and cleaner differences the Viking is a great second ball out of the bag in both centers. As the guide on stormbowling.com points out, the Viking for me is a transition to burn ball for me. Being left handed, I usually don’t get to see the “burn” like my right handed team mates do, but I do cross with plenty of lefties every week. So the Viking does make a nightly appearance during the 3rd game, and sometimes earlier. I have used the Viking during tournaments when we bowl 5 or more games. The Viking has also been the 1st ball out of the bag in a center where the lanes have a TON of friction due to age and has a BIG cliff at the end of the pattern so the front part of the lane is controlled by the solid part of the coverstock and the backend is is strong arch, not an super angular reaction like a pearl cover would give. Seeing over 200 people in recent weekends use the Viking at Storm Matchmaker Live! events in Pennsylvania, I tell them to warm up with a solid or the ball they were looking to try first, then I put a Viking in their hands, and everyone was surprised how the ball responded for them once the lanes got a little lineage on it during the demo. We even had the Viking outsell the #1 demanded ball in a decade, the Phaze II Pearl at some demos. DO NOT look past the Viking as a ball to add to your current arsenal or to replace an older hybrid or pearl coverstock ball. Stop by your local pro shop to get the new Viking from 900 Global.

LANE CONDITION Length: 40 Volume: Medium-Heavy Type: THS COMMENTS Likes: Control. 15lb - Layout is 4x4x4 VLS pin under Storm website description: The Viking is built for battle. Created in small batches with precision and pride, the Viking pairs the Strobe A.I. Core with a responsive hybrid shell for motion. It's the kind of ball you can trust to show up every time. My take: Out of the box, the Viking gives a smooth and predictable reaction through the front part of the lane. It clears the heads easily without feeling too clean or skid-flippy, which is perfect for my speed and rev rate. The cover reads the midlane confidently, allowing me to see the ball pick up before making a strong, continuous move toward the pocket. What really stands out is how controlled the backend motion is. Instead of a sharp snap, the Viking provides a strong arcing shape, which helps keep the ball online and reduces over/under reaction—especially on typical house patterns. With my lower revrate and speed, I can trust it to blend the wet/dry and still carry well when I miss slightly right or tug it inside. Carry has been excellent. The Viking drives through the pins with continuation, mixing the rack well and keeping the 9-pin and flat 10s to a minimum. It’s especially effective when the lanes have medium oil or when I need something that doesn’t overreact as the pattern starts to transition and I can still play straighter thru the fronts. Overall, the 900 Global Viking is a great benchmark-style ball for bowlers with similar specs to mine. It offers a reliable, readable motion that works on a wide variety of conditions and pairs well with both stronger and cleaner pieces in an arsenal. If you’re looking for a ball you can start league with and trust shot after shot, the Viking is an excellent choice. (My comparison balls were all 900G hybrids asyms: Volatility, Reality Check and Origin. The difference in my eyes The Viking is 2 parts pearl while its predessors were 2 parts solid) #StrikingWorldwide

The 900 Global Viking has been a bit too long for me during league, so I took it down to 2000 and applied smooth edge. Ever since I did this it gave me a much better reaction down lane. I am able to play a lot straighter with this ball which is what I prefer if the lanes are really tight. I keep this ball in the shop at all times because it is a life saver most of the time.

Viking
The Viking is the newest hyrbid asym from SPI, and it is STRONG! The medium RG and strong cover formula have made this ball super useable for me. It has enough teeth for the fresh, but it creates enough length through the front part of the lane that I can use it all 3 games in league and just chase the shot in. I can always trust this ball to clear the front part of the lane and bang off the spot! Although it creates strong downlane motion, it isn't too sharp or uncontrollable. Having a ball this clean and this versatile is such a game changer because I can throw this on so many different conditions and for such a long window. You do NOT want to miss out on the Viking! The more I throw it, the more I love it!

Love this ball
The 900 Global Viking with a 4-4-2.5 VLS layout is a very simple, reliable ball that gets through the front part of the lane clean, starts to read in the middle, and then makes a smooth but strong move to the pocket without being jumpy. This layout keeps the reaction easy to control, so it works great on medium to medium-heavy oil when you want something predictable instead of a big snap. You can play it straighter or move a little inside and it will still hit and carry well, making it a good “trust it and throw it” ball when you don’t want surprises.

The Viking has been a huge hit at recent MatchMaker events. The reason? More forgiveness with miss hits both inside and outside of the spot. As compared to the 900 Global Origin you can anticipate more length, more reaction off the spot and more longevity as transition occurs. In my opinion, the 900 Global Origin was fantastic when the bowler had the look, but once it went away the Origin time was short. However, the Viking you can move more inside and maintain good reaction with this ball. My speed tends to be slower, so "bigger" asymmetrical balls burning up early can be a common occurrence and get forward quickly. The Viking gives me what I need without messing with surfaces. This hybrid blend is exactly what I need in the bag for my starter asym equipment. One final note to point out is that lane beds in the eastern region are continuing to get older and older. The need to create length and control with bowling ball offerings is continuing to grow. Global Viking review by Sandy McIntire
Introducing the 900 Global Viking with the Strobe AI Core and hybrid reactive coverstock. This ball is ideal for medium to heavy oil conditions when you need strong and continuous backend I am slightly speed dominant, rev challenged 220-250ish, low tilt and high rotation. I drilled mine 25 x 3.75 x 20. My axis point is 4 3/8 over 1 3/8 up. This ball is good for me on medium oil conditions. I made a small surface adjustment hitting the cover with a used 2k pad to get my ball to read the midlane more and it worked like a charm. Go get yours at your local Storm VIP shop today! Great with shine knocked off.
For me, out of the box the 900 Global Viking was not one of my favorite new releases. I found the reaction to be too much over/under for my liking. Asymms are very hit or miss for me. I did find a much better reaction when I scuffed the surface and removed the polish. That blended out the reaction and made the ball much more forgiving for me. It works well on my house shot, but it has been looking great in my sport shot league on our 40 foot pattern we are currently bowling. On the sport pattern it gives me a rounded shape and it very forward at the break point. This allows me to keep my angles straighter and not worry about the ball jumping off of the back of the pattern.

This new asymmetrical hybrid from Storm for me is a better version of the original Origin. Threw my favorite layout on it, 5 x 4 x 2 pin over bridge. Out of the box clean with a hockey stick backend motion. Really opens up angles for me at my slower speed. Impressive part of this ball is the continuation. There's no quit or forward for me. The free skid and clean motion along with the hard arc backend is something that fits my style. The motion also allowed me to keep moving left but still have the continuation to carry out corners. This is a transition ball that will help me keep up with the competition. I also tried the Viking with a cover change to 2000 on a heavier condition. The cover seems very versatile, earlier motion but still had some of the hybrid pop out of box. Definite ball of the year opportunity for 900 Global, a must have for the bag. It replaces the Origin and basically its cleaner and quicker and more forward. It feels more like a Pearl than a Hybrid, and I can use it to get more cleanly through the fronts and backend more. The Origin felt more like a ball 1, the first ball out of the bag. The Viking can be used like that but you’re going to have to move more towards the friction and if the backends are too sharp you’re not going to have throw something else. But if you need a ball for transition or just overall friction, the Viking is going to be great!

Viking
The Viking Bowling Ball features a hybrid coverstock that creates a strong yet controlled motion on the lanes. With the 3.75x4x2.25 layout, it offers a smooth reaction through the mid-lane and a dependable finish at the backend. Its blend of length and versatility makes it well-suited for medium to heavier oil patterns. Overall, the Viking provides a reliable and powerful option for bowlers seeking consistency and performance.

900 Global Viking Ball Review The Viking features a new asymmetrical core with the RB 90 Hybrid coverstock with 2 parts pearl and 1 part solid in the coverstock. RG 2.51 Diff .052 Int Diff .016 Asymmetrical Core Poweredge I drilled mine 5.25x4x2 using the VLS Layout System which gives me a faster response to the friction. I found the Viking to very clean through the fronts but still reads the midlane with a very responsive backend. I compared the Viking to the orginal Origin and i found the Origin to read the midlane a little earlier with a smooth motion on the backend while the Viking was cleaner with a stronger backend. I feel like the Viking will be a great ball to use once the lanes have gone through that first transition and you need more backend motion. The Viking will be stronger than the Ember or Zen 25.

The Viking is awesome!

Well, I will admittedly tell you, I will never judge a book by its cover, or in this case, a ball by its cover, ever again, because the all-new 900 Global Viking is outstanding! The Viking is a fantastic combination of Strobe A.I. Core and RB 90 Hybrid Coverstock, making the Viking one of the best balls of the year for straighter, low-rev players like me. So, let's take a closer look at 900 Global's latest success-the Viking! From my first roll with the Viking, I could tell the all-new Strobe A.I. core was created for success for any straighter, low-rev players like me. Although I drilled my Viking quite aggressively, the most outstanding feature I found in the Strobe A.I. Core was its balance, precision, and power throughout the lane. I liked how the Strobe A.I. Core had a vibrant yet balanced motion in the mid-lane that gave the Viking time to react to my low-rev hand, and that time provided the Viking with an outstanding amount of energy that exploded as it came off the pattern. I loved the power the Strobe A.I. core had; it steamrolled through the deck, and when I can watch corner pins start flying out of my way, I know I have the strongest continuation I could ask for. So, for me, there was no question: the Strobe A.I. Core in the Viking will deliver results for any straighter player like me. And ff you are a straighter, low-rev player, drill the Viking aggressively; it will respond with striking results. Those who know my reviews know I like to promote Hybrid coverstocks for straighter players, especially those players who predominantly roll on a THS. Well, 900 Global created an outstanding blend of solid and pearl, making up the RB 90 Hybrid Coverstock, and its results on a THS were fantastic. The factory Power-Edge finish on the Viking provides a great overall look. I found the RB 90 Hybrid to be clean and smooth in the mid-lane, with just the right amount of crispness to keep the Viking from being oversensitive and jumpy as the lanes transitioned. Now, mind you, 900 Global claims the Viking was designed with transition in mind for many players, and the RB 90 Hybrid coverstock lives up to all they claim. Yet, I will tell you: if you are a straighter player like me, bowling on a THS, the RB 90 Hybrid coverstock will deliver an entire night of powerful striking ability with a minor surface change. I hit my Viking with a 3000-grit Abralon pad to see how it reacted to fresh conditions. And I will tell you my Viking not only performed beautifully on the fresh, as it cleared the fronts with ease and kept that same smooth, crisp motion in the mid-lane like the stock Power Edge finish, but that minor 3000-grit surface tweak gave me the confidence to move in considerably during the transition and created an entry angle that gave me those dancing pins and actual messengers that I usually don't get to see. So, if you're a straighter player like me, the RB90 Hybrid coverstock will be a game-changer! In closing, the 900 Global Viking is an outstanding new release from 900 Global. The Viking is a fantastic combination of Strobe A.I. Core and RB90 Hybrid coverstock that will undoubtedly fit any straighter player's THS arsenal. The Viking is a vibrant, powerful ball that lives up to what 900 Global claims and then some! Lastly, to those who compare it to the Origin before rolling it, I say don't judge a ball by its cover, judge it by its results! Viking Review by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson
900 Global Viking Cover: 2000 Grit RB 89™ Hybrid Reactive with Power Edge Core: Strobe™ + A.I. Core (Asymmetrical) Color: Copper/Steel/Deep Purple Review: Seeing the Origin AKA the sleeper ball of the year go discontinued was a sad day. We were hoping the Viking was a direct replacement for this type of shape and reaction that the Origin had. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 5x4x2 (pin is above bridge). Even with a new core and different cover combination the Viking shows a lot of similarities in shape and strength. The Viking has a touch less overall hook which in our eyes makes this a more versatile piece. It is also a little bit cleaner through the front part of the lane. Usually in a 3 game league set we can open with the Origin and transition to a different piece in late game 2/game 3. The Viking is something that can work for a whole set with a volume/pattern that allows for it like some league conditions. If you like starting left and the Viking doesn’t quite do the job then this is a great ball down choice from an Origin or other SPI pieces like an Ion Max, Equinox Solid, RST Hyperdrive, etc. The look and colors of this ball really fits with the 900 Global line. They aren’t overly flashy, and they don’t have a scent, but they get the job done in more ways than one. This is a great follow up to the original Origin and a versatile piece you don’t want to miss out on. Created in small batches with precision and pride, the Viking pairs the Strobe A.I. Core with a responsive hybrid shell for motion. It's the kind of ball you can trust to show up every time.” The Viking was a pleasant surprise as from the marketing it is sold as a transition to burn ball, but I find it a touch stronger of a ball where balls like the P2P or Cove could be a transition to burn ball in my opinion. Knowing that this ball was going to be also similar to an Origin I had big hopes before putting holes in it and after again I was pleasantly surprised. Bowling with and around a lot of higher rev rate guys it really helps me see and understand this ball faster. I usually start the night off with the ION Pro Solid and get into the Viking around the end of game two/start of game three. Typically when I catch a pair with more high rev rate guys I will tend to move 2-3 boards left after every half a game. This ball can be used by players with a softer ball speed on fresh and straighter angles or as a transition ball for guys with a bigger rev rate. I think this ball will be in many tournament players' bags and with the PBA starting in a few months looking to see how many of these are used on tour. 900 Global Viking
The 900 Global Strobe AI, featuring the AI Core and RB 90 Hybrid cover, delivers a clean look through the front with impressive continuation downlane. I drilled mine 5 x 4 x 2, and this layout really enhances the ball’s ability to clear the midlane while unleashing strong, angular motion at the breakpoint. On lane transition—especially when the fronts begin to hook—the Strobe AI shines. Its cleaner asymmetrical design helps it glide through early friction, and the hybrid cover provides a strong yet controlled response when it encounters friction downlane. The result is a ball that corners hard and shapes beautifully when you need something with pop from deeper angles. Overall, the Strobe AI is a great option for bowlers looking for a clean, quick-responding asym that comes alive as the lanes open up.

PAP 5” Over 1/2 up Rev Rate 300. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: The Viking is a nice-looking ball that is very clean though the front with an angular motion upon meeting friction. On our fresh house shot the Viking went a bit too long for me but played well as the lanes broke down. The Viking has an angular move at the breakpoint and pin carry is very good. I feel the box surface will be good for the higher rev bowler or those with slower speed. At the box surface I would put this ball above my Origin EX and below my original Origin in total hook with the Viking having more back-end motion than both. I am a bit speed dominate so I sanded my Viking to 1000 than ran Rough Edge lightly on the ball to finish it with a light polish over some grit. This surface prep allowed the Viking to read the lane earlier and produced more hook with only a slight decrease in back end. Surface prep is easy and can help tune ball motion. Summary: The Viking is a good transition ball. This balls surface can be easily adjusted. The back end and hit are very good with the Viking. The new 900 Global Viking features the new RB90 hybrid coverstock finished with Power Edge, along with the all-new Strobe AI core asymmetrical core. At 15 pounds the Viking has an RG of 2.51 with a differential of .052 and an intermediate differential of .016. I drilled mine at 5x5x2 which puts the pin right above my bridge. If you love the Origin, you are going to absolutely love the Viking. The Viking is a little later and more angular on the backend than the Origin with a similar amount of overall hook. For me the Viking has better usability than the Origin. What I mean by that is I can throw the Viking longer than I could stay in the Origin. The Origin was good on the fresh, heavy oil conditions. The Viking is much better when the lanes start to break down, and I need something to open up my angles. The Viking reads the midlane very well and still has a strong backend motion. Not skid/flip by any means but strong and angular…very controllable. This ball is a must have for any 900 Global fan. Don’t sleep on this one!

Viking Review
Layout: 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 2 Surface: Power Edge with light 2000 abralon on top Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The brand new 900 Global Viking gives a pretty unique motion in the 900 Series lineup. The new Strobe AI core has a very unique shape to drill the ball in many different ways while still achieving good ball roll. The new RB90 Hybrid coverstock was added to this ball to give a strong, yet angular motion on the backend of the lane giving that pretty unique shape that you know will hook on a variety of patterns. On my 44ft typical house shot, I saw pretty good length with the Power Edge Finish. The ball is designed for more of the transition games then on fresh so I was not too surprised on this. My higher ball speed in general tends to make shiny coverstocks go too long for the most part. I was able to play around 12 to 5-8 on the fresh which is my ideal location for this pattern. I saw a little too much length and response to friction causing a lot of 10 pins. I then hit the ball's surface with a 2000 abralon pad lightly to knock off a little of the power edge polish. What I saw afterwards was a motion stronger in the midlane while still having that same backend strong motion. This is more my ideal motion. My next few shots actually started to hook a little too much leaving 4 pins. I was able to move 3 and 2 left with my feet and saw great continuation. I was more in the ideal spot on the lane which was about 15 to 7-9 down lane. This again showed that it is a better ball for the transition. After transition happened a little more, I was able to get as far left as 20 at the arrows without worrying about the ball getting too long down the lane. The higher asymmetry of .016 makes the ball stand up a little faster than symmetrical balls in the same spot. As the Viking got a little too forward down lane, a ball down to the Ember would be the next move. Compared to the Origin, the Viking gives a lot more length and backend due to the weaker coverstock in the Viking. It makes sense to potentially have both of these balls in the bag if you like the motion of the Origin and need a ball for more oil. The Origin will give an earlier and smoother shape overall where the Viking will give more length and a more angular backend. The Viking is pretty predictable for what it is which is why I feel it is unique. I know it is going to see the lane properly from many locations on the lane and on many patterns. I recommend this ball for someone who likes to see midlane roll and a strong backend motion. It would also be a good step down from the Origin and Origin EX as it will give more length and more angle than both balls. This Viking is designed more for the transition but can have a chance to be used on the fresh with a surface change usually removing the power edge polish. Adam Chase Storm Staff

Viking
The 900 Global Viking is here, and let’s just say—this ball doesn’t come to play. It comes to conquer. Designed for medium to heavy oil, the Viking blends a strong mid-lane read with a surprisingly smooth and controlled move downlane. Think of it as your personal lane-raiding warrior… minus the beard and battle axe. The Viking Hybrid coverstock offers a clean glide through the front part of the lane, followed by a strong, predictable backend that doesn’t quit early. It’s ideal for bowlers who want power, control, and just enough aggression to remind the pins who’s in charge. The core revs up quickly, giving you a stable, confident motion that stays consistent even when the transition gets tricky. No wild, unexpected lunges—just that steady “I’ve got this” energy you wish your teammates had during league night. Who’s it for? Anyone looking for a reliable benchmark ball that hits harder than a Viking after someone stole their horn of mead. Whether you’re a speed-dominant bowler needing mid-lane read or a rev-dominant bowler wanting a clean but strong motion, this ball checks all the boxes. In short: Clean through the heads Predictable mid-lane read Strong, controlled backend Hits the pins like it’s settling an ancient Nordic score If you’re searching for a ball that’s powerful, dependable, and just a little bit intimidating, the 900 Global Viking is ready to join your arsenal—and it promises not to pillage your pocketbook too badly.

wow amazing reaction
Yeah buddy! Loving mine, I love the way it rolls. It has an AI core, Asymmetrical, Hybrid reactive, Power Edge Factory finish. Once the oil carries down during transition and you need a ball with the back end to over come it...This is for sure the ball to have in your bag. Its ready for a battle out there. Such a great ball for the mid lane reaction and the added back end when the oil carries down. I have mine drilled 4 1/2 x 5 x x 3 and she scoots! Close to an Origin, for me reads the mid lane a little sooner and then makes more or a snap on the back end. I really like it, and its fun to have in your bag!

When the lanes begin to transition and you need to see a stronger change in direction off the end of the pattern, the Viking will be an excellent choice. In game two of league, the Viking gave me a great look sliding on 32, looking 18 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 7-8. As the lanes continued to break down, I kept moving left and had no problem with getting the ball through the pins. When compared to the Origin EX, the Viking was significantly cleaner through the fronts with a quicker downlane motion. The Origin was a go to ball for me last season and I can see the Viking having the same potential this year. On tougher tournament patterns when I need to control downlane reaction, I would start with the Origin EX, then go to the Viking. On the house pattern, the Viking was great games two and three once the pattern stretched out and transitioned. The Viking sets a new standard for dynamic core technology while delivering unmatched power with every shot. Stop by your local Storm VIP pro shop to check it out! Available on November 21st. Global 900 Viking
Another Great ball by Global 900. One thing you can count on is global 900 coming out with great bowling balls. They my only have a few in the line. But those few are all winners. The Viking is a striking king. 300 out the box with this one. It's clean and predictable on the back. Everything you want in a ball..

Viking
The layout is 4 1/2 x 4 1/4 x 2 1/4 (50 x 4 1/2 x 35) This ball honestly gets the job done! The RB90 Hybrid Coverstock with the Strobe A.I. core gives a great midlane read and strong backend reaction. This ball provides a balance reaction that I am looking for on medium lane conditions, or for when the lanes start to transition. The Viking is simple for my game, and gives me such a predictable read that I know how it will perform once I use it on the lanes. This ball will be in my arsenal, as it will be a ball that I can trust during transition or can use on a medium length pattern for league.
