900 Global Portal Bowling Ball

(9 reviews) Write a Review

Some balls are made to fill a specific spot in your bag. Portal was made to open up a new one.

Portal represents a different approach to a 900 Series ball, created for bowlers looking to see what is possible when a ball can clear the front of the lane and save its energy for what comes next. Its purpose is simple: get through the heads, retain energy, and create a sharp move down lane that gives you another option when you need it.

At the heart of Portal is the all-new Conduit AI Core. Its high RG and high differential are designed to help the ball ignore traffic in the heads and maintain its energy for the backend. Paired with the stronger RB 92 Solid cover, the core gets the traction it needs while the cover helps enhance its quick response time. The result is one of the sharpest backend reactions the Global brand has ever seen.

The Portal is the latest addition to the Storm line. The Portal features the brand new Conduit AI core, is wrapped in RB 92 solid and finished with power edge. The Portal is very unique in that it features the highest RG asym core I’ve ever drilled. The Portal has a very high friction cover that is given easy length with how long it takes the core to stabilize. The portal is going to be a great option for me on higher ratio shots or the perfect ball to go to after my Vengeance and Optimum Idol start slowing down too quickly. The Portal is now available from any Storm VIP Pro Shop! Review Video: https://youtu.be/yfVXrPWbYIk?si=RwHPNRbAfziJABVP

900 Global Portal Cover: RB 92™ Solid Reactive with Power Edge Core: Conduit™ + A.I. Core (Symmetrical) Color: Red Review: This is an interesting bowling ball for many reasons. Just by looking at the core shape you can tell this ball is different. We really like how the 900 Global stuff fills those niche gaps in bowling ball arsenals. This is a shape they do not have. A solid that reacts more like a hybrid or pearl but still rolls like a solid. It is really cool for people who like that predictable smooth shape just later down lane. This ball is sharp for a solid but not as hockey stick shape as you get from some pearls, and it really blends the over/under well because of these points. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 5x4x2 (pin is above bridge). Our first thoughts are this is a ball you can start with but definitely something that you probably won’t finish with. It looks great on fresh but for the transition and carry down during back to back leagues it did not look good. It was way too smooth for the burn and lost a lot of continuation. If you are looking for a unique shape and you love solid covers this is a must have. There really isn’t any shape like this from SPI out, and I don’t remember the last time I have seen something like this from them. If you see a local matchmaker I would get signed up and get this ball a chance. • 900 Global Portal – Versatility With Strong Continuation

Posted by Jerry Calabrese on Oct 2nd 2026

The 900 Global Portal has been a really interesting addition to my bag. I drilled mine 5 × 4 × 2.5, and the first thing that stood out to me was how cleanly it gets through the front of the lane, even with its aggressive coverstock. What I really like about the Portal is how it responds to different lane conditions. On a wet/dry condition, the ball can really respond to the friction and create the sharper change of direction you want. On a more blended condition, I’ve seen it read a little sooner, make a smoother transition through the midlane, and continue strongly through the pins rather than making that sudden move downlane. For me, that combination of length, traction, and strong continuation makes the Portal very versatile. It can create plenty of shape when the lane calls for it, but it doesn't have to be a hockey-stick reaction every time you throw it. The ball gives me a predictable motion that I can trust while still having plenty of energy through the pins. If you're looking for a ball that can give you clean length, a strong midlane read, and different shapes depending on the lane, the 900 Global Portal is definitely worth putting on your radar. It has quickly become a ball that I can see fitting into a variety of conditions and giving me a reaction I can trust.

The 900 Global Portal has been a really fun piece for me to get on the lanes. This is a ball that gives me a great combination of traction, continuation, and control without feeling like it wants to take over the lane. For reference, I’m a Right-Handed Tweener with 14–15 mph ball speed, a 220 rev rate, and a PAP of 6 1/8 → 1/2 Up. My Portal is drilled 45 x 4.5 x 45. What I really like about the Portal is how readable it is through the front of the lane while still giving me enough response downlane. It blends the lane nicely and gives me a strong, continuous motion through the pins. When I need something that will create traction but still let me stay aggressive with my angles, the Portal fits that role really well. The 45 x 4.5 x 45 layout gives me a predictable shape that I can trust. It’s strong enough to handle some oil, but I can also move in with it as the lane transitions without feeling like I’ve completely lost control of the pocket. For my game, the Portal is a versatile piece that gives me the kind of motion I’m looking for: traction in the midlane, a strong but controlled move off the spot, and plenty of continuation through the pins. If you’re looking for a ball that can give you a strong, readable motion and plenty of versatility, the 900 Global Portal is definitely one to take a look at. A huge thank you to my sponsors Storm Bowling, I Am Bowling, Turbo Grips, and Pin Point Pro Shop for supporting me both on and off the lanes. I truly appreciate everything you do for me! The Portal is the newest release from 900 Global and it brings a unique shape to the brand. It was designed to create the strongest backend reaction that a ball from 900 Global has ever seen. The Portal features the Reserve Blend 92 solid cover with Power Edge and the new Conduit A.I. core. This unique combination of a strong polished solid cover and high RG/high differential core will clear the fronts and provide traction downlane for a strong finish. When compared to the Vengeance, the Portal is significantly cleaner and changes direction much quicker. On the house pattern, the Portal looked great right from the start and allowed me to gradually move left throughout the night without sacrificing carry. In tournaments on medium conditions, I can see the Portal being an excellent choice in the middle to late in the block. Within my current bag, the Portal will fit between the Ion Pro Solid and Next Factor. Stop by your local Storm VIP pro shop to check it out! Available on October 2nd. Coverstock: RB92 - Power Edge Core: Conduit A.I. The 900 Global Portal was a ball I wasn't quite sure what to expect from when I first drilled it, but it quickly wowed me! Mine is drilled 4¾×4½×2½, and this ball is significantly stronger than I initially expected. One of my favorite things about the Portal is how controllable it is right out of the box, and adding surface can make it even more predictable when the lanes call for it. With the shiny out-of-box finish, the Portal reads the lane noticeably earlier than many other shiny balls I've thrown, but it still continues through the pins with a slightly more forward and predictable shape. It doesn't miss the spot and consistently finds its way through the pins, making it a ball I can trust when I need strength without sacrificing control. If you're looking for a strong, predictable piece that gives you plenty of control while still striking at a high rate, the Portal is definitely worth a look!

  • Ton of backend!

Posted by Daniel Esguerra on Sep 28th 2026

The 900 Global Portal is a really impressive bowling ball, especially when it comes to its backend motion. The Portal gives you a smooth read through the midlane before really coming alive down the lane and creating a strong, continuous backend motion. What I really like about this ball is how much energy it saves for the back part of the lane, allowing it to make a noticeable move toward the pocket without feeling too uncontrollable. It has a really nice combination of length and backend that makes it fun to watch go through the pins. Even though the Portal has plenty of backend, it still feels smooth and predictable, which makes it easier to trust when you're playing different parts of the lane. Overall, if you're looking for a bowling ball that gives you that clean look through the front with a strong and continuous backend, the 900 Global Portal is definitely a ball worth checking out.

  • Portal to the Strikes

Alright 900 Global fans, if you want a ball that will make your jaw drop it is definitely the Portal. I drilled mine up last Friday right before I was going to sub for a friend in a house that has a ton of friction to the outside and a big tournament that has always been known to be very dry on Sunday. Lets just say this ball was moving like crazy on the backend in practice on Friday night so I started with a different ball but after about 5 fames and not liking the look I said what the heck, grabbed the Portal and I didn’t take the ball off the ball return until I was done. I was able to play straight up 10 and was able to move in a bit and the ball didn’t quit on the backend. Now Sunday was a totally different story, practice I haven’t seen that many shots clip 3 off the right. I didn’t even try the ball in practice and went to a 1000 Grit Wicked Gremlin for the first half of game 1. At this point I just wanted to see what this ball would do and played 1 shot up 10 and left a 7 pin. I moved left and was rolling 15 at the arrows to about 10 and the ball just started striking. I was able to finish game 1 with a 192 with the Portal and then each game we moved right I was able to throw 11 strikes for a 266 game 2 then went 217 and 259 for one of my highest sets in years in this tournament at 934. For games 3 and 4 I only had to move about 2 to 3 boards left and the ball didn’t quit. This ball made me look good even on bad shots. It will be in my bag for league this week.

The 900 Global Portal gives me a really strong and dependable look when I need something that reads the lane without being overly aggressive off the spot. It picks up nicely in the midlane and gives me a smooth, continuous motion through the pins that makes it easy to control the pocket. Compared to the Ion Pro Solid, the Portal gives me a little more overall strength and shape while still maintaining that predictable, controllable feel. Compared to the Next Factor, I see the Portal as the smoother and more rounded option, especially when I don't want the ball to be too responsive downlane. It gives me a great blend of strength, control, and continuation, and I can see the Portal being a really useful benchmark-type piece in my bag on a wide variety of conditions.
