900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl Bowling Ball

Building on the overwhelming success of the original Harsh Reality, a pearl version is a much needed addition. We kept the colors intact from the Harsh Reality Solid for the fans of the series and crafted the pearlized version. This is currently the only polished/pearl asymmetric and will be the most explosive backend reaction in the 900 Global lineup.

Cover: Reserve Blend 902 Pearl Reactive Core: Disturbance Asymmetric A.I. RG: 2.48 RG. Diff.: 0.054 Finish: Reacta Gloss 900 Global’s new Harsh Reality Pearl is an Asymmetrical piece that is good for Medium - Heavy Volume patterns. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin up between the fingers, CG kicked out 1” from the palm, and the Mass Bias an 1.5” right of the Thumb. Out of Box ball motion clean through the fronts with a strong backend reaction on a left over Shark pattern. I compared this to Harsh Reality Solid (2-2 Right). The Pearl is 2-2 left of the Solid with cleaner motion through the fronts and sharper backend reaction. The Pearl will be a good #2 ball when the Solid starts to burn up. This piece will be good for all types of styles. Check Out the Ball motion Video on my YouTube Page: https://youtu.be/slOk2PCVKH8

The 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl features the new Reserve Blend 902 pearl coverstock and the Disturbance A.I. asymmetric core. At 15 pounds the RG is a low 2.48 with a differential of .054 and an intermediate diff of .019. This ball is the perfect complement to the original Harsh Reality and then some. When the original starts to burn up and roll forward too soon, this is the perfect ball to pull out of your bag. The Harsh Reality Pearl can still handle the heavy volume oil just like its predecessor, but the pearl provides an added punch on the backend. While the original Harsh Reality is limited to how long I can stay with that ball, the pearl version offers much more usability on a wider array of lane conditions. Both the solid and the pearl need oil to be effective, but the pearl cover provides length on the medium conditions, as well as transitioned lane conditions. The Harsh Reality solid and pearl are a great one, two punch!!

The Harsh Reality Pearl excels in delivering a strong, angular backend reaction thanks to its high friction coverstock and pearlized finish. When compared to current offerings like the Roto Grip UFO Alert and the Storm Proton Physix, the Harsh Reality Pearl stands out for its more pronounced and sharper backend motion. The UFO Alert, with its hybrid coverstock, provides a more controlled and smoother transition, while the Proton Physix, known for its solid coverstock, delivers a more even and predictable roll. In contrast, the Harsh Reality Pearl’s aggressive nature makes it a go-to option for bowlers needing a ball that can tackle heavy oil patterns with a strong, dynamic backend reaction.

The Harsh Reality was a huge success in the 900 series lineup, it's now followed up with its pearl version, the Harsh Reality Pearl. Currently the only polished/pearl asymmetrical 900 ball on the market, the Harsh Reality Pearl brings back the Disturbance AI core along with the Reserve blend 902 pearl cover stock. I drilled mine at 50 x 5 x 35 to give the ball a smooth amount of control mid lane and save its energy for the backend. From a THS to a variety of sport patterns, I find this ball to be very comparable to the favorable DNA Coil (which I also have at a similar layout at 4.5" x 30). Reaction down lane, I found that the Harsh Reality Pearl is a lot cleaner than the coil, but still has that strong back-end motion. At certain times, I would find myself to put a little surface on the ball to get an earlier roll when it comes to bowling on medium/longer patterns, but it still has that smooth backend reaction. This ball would fit well in my bag for a variety of patterns depending on surface as well as your THS. Be sure to drill one up from your local pro shop today!! Thomas Coco (storm staffer)

Welcome back as we have a great one for you from 900 Global! If you're a fan of these reviews I want to thank you for watching and reading these reviews and hope it gives you some information to take back when looking to get your next bowling ball. TESTING ENVIRONMENT Length:42 Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): Broken Down House Shot BALL: 900 Global Harsh Reality Coverstock: : Reserve Blend 902 Cover Core: : Disturbance A.I. Asymmetric Core Finish: Reacta Gloss RG: 2.49 (14 Pounds) Differential: 0.054 (14 Pounds) MB/PSA: .019 (14 Pounds) ME: Right-Handed Tweener Speed: 14-15 mph Rev Rate: 210 PAP: 4 7/8 right 5/8 up Ball Layout: 5X3X4 Pin Down Using this ball on a true house shot showed the strength of what this ball is capable of being. I can say for sure and you can see from the video that this ball needs just a tad of friction. This ball is very clean and needs oil to stay on line. If you are a speed dominant player you could stay in this ball for some time, but for me with average speed and lower rev rate use this ball after I break down the lanes with a bigger stronger ball, but that allows me to know that it will be really good on a broken down pattern. In league I use this ball in game 2 or 3 after burning up the track with the OG Harsh Reality. Layout on this one was 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 x 4. Gave me a nice pin down, early rolling layout. Heavy oil machine! Bowling in the collegiate level, you run into some pretty difficult shots. Whether it be super heavy, light, long or short. This one will tear up the heavier patterns with a touch of surface. Cleaner more down lane motion compared to the original harsh reality. Definitely a ball 1-2 in my bag! Go get one!

Layout: 5 x 3 1/2 x 3 Surface: Reacta Gloss Rev Rate: 470 RPM The new Harsh Reality Pearl brings back the Disturbance AI Core and is paired with the Reserve Blend 902 Pearl Coverstock. The Pearl gives more length and a more angular backend compared to the Harsh Reality Solid. Still ideal for heavier oil, the Harsh Reality Pearl will handle a wide array of oil patterns including house and sport. For my higher rev rate, I need a lot of head oil for the Harsh Reality series to work well. The Pearl still reads the front and midlane very strong even with its Reacta Gloss finish. The Reserve Blend 902 Pearl coverstock is on the stronger side and can handle a lot of oil while still giving a nice back end finish. My THS is 44ft in length but with lower volume so I can use it on the fresh due to the lower oil volume. After game 1, it becomes a little harder to use due to the oil breakdown. On PBA patterns, it is a different story. Those all have significantly more oil volume so I can get much more use out of the HRP. When my Harsh Reality Solid becomes too forward and slow down lane, I can go right to the pearl and continue to strike as it is cleaner through the front of the lane. This ball fills a hole in the 900 Global lineup as we haven't seen an asymmetrical pearl since the Altered Reality. If you are a bowler with a lower rev rate but need a cleaner but strong coverstock, I would go with this ball. Heavier oil patterns also make this ball shine as well. The strength of this ball can make it useful for the fresh depending on the conditions. Taking the reacta gloss off the coverstock, will make this ball earlier and slightly smoother. If you use the Harsh reality Solid, this pearl will also be a great step down for game 2 or game 3 of league when you have to open the lanes up more. A pin down layout for this ball will keep the ball on line a little longer making it potentially more useful on a wider variety of conditions. Adam Chase Storm Staff

TESTING ENVIRONMENT: Length:43 Volume: Med-High Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):THS COMMENTS: Core: Disturbance A.I. Asymmetric Cover: Reserve Blend 902 Pearl Finish: Reacta Gloss RG: 2.48 (15) Differential: 0.054 (15) PSA: 0.019 (15) ME: Right-Handed Tweener Speed: 12-13 mph Rev Rate: 315 Axis Tilt: 14° Axis Rotation: 74° PAP: 5 1/8 R 7/8 Up Ball Layout: Pin Over Ring 5 1/2 X 5 X 2 3/4 VLS The Harsh Reality from 900 Global has been a great high performance piece for higher volumes of oil. The continuous motion has made it a favorite for a variety of bowlers. It was just a matter of time before a pearl version was released and the Harsh Reality Pearl doesn't disappoint. The great news for fans of the Altered Reality is that in my opinion this ball is the best replacement released to date. The Disturbance AI symmetric core maintains the great continuation and the 902 reserve pearl coverstock gives you great length and a quicker change of direction down-lane. I tested the Harsh Reality Pearl in league. I was really curious about how continuous the ball would be with the powerful core when I had to get in and cover boards. Our house tends to have alot of early friction in the surface, but our longer heavier pattern makes it so you need a strong down-lane reaction to get the ball back. I've struggled a bit with some of the high performance pearls wanting to get forward too quickly when I get left. I lucked into the perfect opportunity to test it as we were on lanes 1 and 2 (Highest friction in the house). This ball definitely HOOKS. I had to start around 20 at the arrows on this pair and I was throwing it over the left gutter by the end of the night. The Harsh Reality Pearl retains energy really well. I love a ball that can create angle in a smaller window, but not roll out when you cover boards with it. That combination really opens the lane up once you're a few games in. For a strong reaction even when the fronts get fried this is the ball. I'd recommend this ball for anyone who runs into a condition where they struggle to clear the heads and when they do their ball struggles to continue. High Rev, Low rev, high speed low speed this ball matches up for everyone at some point. Lonnie Pemberton Storm Pro Shop Staff Vise Pro Shop Staff Revolutions Pro Shop

Dual Angle Layout: 50 x 4 ½ x 70 Storm Vector Layout: 4 ½ x 4 ¼ x 4 1/8 The Harsh Reality Pearl is a strong Asymmetrical Pearl that provides great length and strong backend reaction. This ball is the closest I’ve seen to the Altered Reality to date. I drilled mine pin down due to the fact that I did not have a strong assym pearl drilled pin down so this one is not quite as strong off the spot as normal but that was by intention. This is a great ball to get left on the fresh. If your looking for a strong assym pearl then look no further. Comparison video with the X-Cell: https://youtu.be/rXHI0rUD8Ao?si=pEGg2X6CzE0cdvl2

Drilling pattern: 4 3/8 x 4 1/2 x 2 5/8 Pin position: Above bridge PAP: 4 1/2 over by 1 up Next up. The Harsh Reality Pearl. I drilled this with the same layout as my new Harsh Reality looking for the step down when the solid version starts up a little too early or there is not enough head oil to accommodate the strong surface. Bowling on a slightly beat up THS, this ball got significantly further down the lane than the Harsh Reality and made a stronger move off the break point (as expected). The core in this ball is still strong enough to get the ball started in the oil, but the pearl coverstock still helps get adequate length before a pretty explosive backend reaction. I can certainly see this piece excelling on wet/dry league conditions or anytime a bigger solid, like a Harsh Reality or Gem, sees the front part of the lane too quickly and loses energy. Fantastic 1-2 punch with it's solid predecessor. Brent Ritchie Storm Pro Shop Staff Member

The Harsh Reality Pearl features the same Disturbance AI core found in its big brother but is now wrapped in reserve blend 902 pearl. This creates a very familiar shape that was perviously found in balls like the Altered Reality and Eternity. I find myself throwing the Harsh Reality Pearl after my Harsh Reality and GEM start seeing the front part of the lane too much and going too forward downlane. The Harsh Reality Pearl is the next release in the 900 Series lineup for 900 Global. It features the 902 Reserve Blend Pearl cover and is wrapped around the AI Disturbance Core. I drilled mine 4.5 x 4 x 2 and this is another slightly tweaked layout for me. Ive thrown this ball a few times and it gives me a more blended motion than I thought it was going to be. It reminds me of the ultra popular Storm DNA Coil with how it’s smooth for a pearl cover stock. I would say the Harsh Reality Pearl isn’t as revy in the front part of the lane as a Coil would be and gives a little more back end reaction. I can see myself actually taking surface to mine to use it more on the fresh on older lane surfaces because I need it to get through the fronts but its still really smooth on the back.

Harsh Reality Pearl - Ball Specs Cover Stock: 902 Pearl Finish: Reacta Gloss Core: Disturbance Asymmetric Layout: 50 x 5 x 40 RG: 2.48 Differential: 0.054 Intermediate Diff: .019 Review The all new Harsh Reality Pearl utilizes the Reserve Batch Blend 902 pearl cover stock combined with the Disturbance Asymmetric A.I. Core to give you the strongest pearl ball in the 900 Global line. Yes, I believe the Harsh Reality Pearl is stronger than the Altered Reality. I tested this ball on a 43 feet typical house pattern with a lot of down lane transition. As mid to low rev player I struggle with ball reaction when the lanes breakdown and I’m forced to move left of the 25 board. I was standing between the 25 and 32 boards and rolling the Altered Reality to right, it continued to hit the pocket and continued to strike. My ball layout is 50x5x40. This ball is awesome. This ball will be in my bag for league and tournaments especially when there is down lane transition. This is a great ball for all levels of bowlers. Order one from your local pro shop today! 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl - 900 Series Coverstock: Reserve Blend 902 Pearl - Reacta Gloss Core: Disturbance A.I. RG: 2.48 Differential: .054 (15 lbs) PSA: .019 Layout: 5.5 x 4.25 x 4.5 PAP: 6" Right, 1 3/8" Up Axis Tilt: 16° Rotation: 51° Rev Rate: 450-500 Speed: 17-18 mph Location: Vista Lanes - Yorkville, NY Pattern: 2023 USBC Jr. Gold Lane Surface: HPL The Harsh Reality Pearl features the Reserve Blend 902 coverstock with Reacta Gloss and the Disturbance A.I. core. It is currently the only pearl asymmetric ball in the 900 Global lineup and will produce the most explosive backend reaction. The Harsh Reality Pearl will be the perfect compliment to the Harsh Reality Solid when you need a cleaner and more responsive reaction without giving up overall ball strength on heavier conditions. The Harsh Reality Pearl gave me a great look sliding on 30, looking 18 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 7-8. I was able to move left and not sacrifice ball motion and carry with speed and hand position adjustments. When compared to the Harsh Reality Solid, the Pearl was cleaner through the fronts and created more downlane motion. The Harsh Reality Pearl will be great after the Solid starts to burn up and you need a change of angle to improve your carry. It will be a number two ball on heavier tournament patterns and potentially the first ball out of my bag in league to combat the over/under. The Reality series have been reliable tournament balls for me over the past several seasons and I can see the Harsh Reality Pearl being a great addition to my arsenal. LANE CONDITION Length: 41' Volume: Medium - Heavy Pattern: THS Layout: PIN UP 4 1/2 X 3 1/2 X 1 1/4 VLS COMMENTS Reliable, Predictable and Versatile The New 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl is an upgraded replacement of the beloved Altered Reality and Eternity seeking a stronger asymmetrical option. The Harsh Reality Pearl features the Reserve Blend 902 Pearl coverstock finished with Reacta Gloss, which allows it to glide smoothly through the front part of the lane and respond sharply at the breakpoint. This makes it an excellent choice for medium to heavy oil conditions. It shares the Disturbance Asymmetric AI core with the original Harsh Reality, providing a low RG (2.48) and high differential (0.054), which contributes to its strong hooking potential and continuous motion down the lane. On the lanes this ball performs exceptionally well for allowing me to play deeper lines with confidence. I started in the track and migrated a far as 4th arrow before light pocket hits left weak corner pins. It stores energy effectively and offers impressive recovery and continuation at the back end. Its versatility, provides a strong mid-lane read and a powerful backend reaction, making it suitable for when the lanes transition for me. Even for strokers and crankers, the Harsh Reality Pearl offers a reliable and predictable motion, making it a versatile addition to any arsenal. I compared mine to the Harsh Reality Solid which had earlier mid-lane read and total hook. My 5 ball arsenal would include the Xponent Pearl, Xponent and Sublime' Overall, the 900 Global Harsh Reality Pearl is a versatile with its strong hooking potential and reliable motion make it a valid addition to any bowler's arsenal.
