Orientation: Right Handed Rev Rate: 400 RPM Speed: 16-17 MPH PAP: 4 ½ over and 1 1/8 up Location: Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO Pattern: High Volume THS VLS Layout: Layout 1: 4 5/8 x 4 x 2 ½ (pin above bridge) Layout 2: 4 1/4 x 4 x 4 1/8 (pin below bridge) The Harsh Reality is a solid AI version of the Reality. I had the OG Reality relatively clean and more downlane than most bigger solids. This was great until I needed something bigger and slower to handle more oil and be controlled on the backend. The Harsh Reality solves that problem. The cover is definitely earlier than the OG Reality. The great thing is the AI core allows the Harsh Reality to keep it’s axis a little longer and not roll out like some of the bigger balls tend to. The Harsh Reality is the new standard for big strong solid asyms!

And now, with the powerful, newly upgraded Harsh Reality, 900 Global has taken that Reality's success to a whole new level! The Harsh Reality is an impressive new release that belongs in any straighter player's arsenal. So, let's take a look at what's behind the great success of Harsh Reality! The Disturbance A.I. Asymmetric Core is built on the proven Disturbance Core found in the 900 Global Reality family line that we straighter players have come to love. And now, with the addition of the outer A.I. Core surrounding the Disturbance Core, 900 Global has brought power to a whole new level! I found the Disturbance A.I. Core to be aggressive in the mid-lane as it fights to find its balance and relentless as it makes its turn off the pattern! I loved the intensity I found the Disturbance A.I. delivered no matter where I rolled my Harsh Reality. Whether poetry off my hand, tugged inside, or leaked right, the Disturbance A.I. Core never failed to get me back to the pocket! And with my higher-speed, low rev-rate game, I could count on the added performance of the Disturbance A.I. Core to kick out those dreaded- oh-no, I missed ten pins! Now, make no mistake about the Reserve Blend 902 Solid Coverstock! It is designed to cut through oil and perfectly complements the Disturbance A.I. Core. I loved how the Reserve Blend 902 Solid made my Harsh Reality –"hook out of the box." If you can imagine a straighter player on fresh oil, making a five-board move left with his feet and eyes and still crushes the pocket. You will begin to understand the strength the Reserve Blend 902 coverstock brings to the Harsh Reality! The Reserve Blend 902 Solid dominates in heavy oil. It even enables a straighter player like me to swing the lane a bit and enjoy striking more from the benefits of a wider entry angle! And with that wider entry angle, your score has no choice but to go up! In closing, the Harsh Realty by 900 Global is a powerful ball that belongs in any straighter player's arsenal! With the Disturbance A.I. Core and the Reserve Blend 902 Coverstock combination, 900 Global has produced the most optimized Reality destined to strike and bring outstanding results to your game on fresh THS conditions! And it will give us straighter players the added confidence to keep moving inside and opening our angle that keeps striking all night long! So, stop by your local Storm VIP Pro Shop today, and don't hesitate to put the Harsh Reality in your arsenal! It's that good! • 900 Global - Harsh Reality

Posted by Kristijonas S. on Apr 4th 2024

The Harsh Reality is new release from 900 Global that features Disturbance A.I. Asymmetric Core and the Reserve Blend 902 Solid coverstock. The name speaks for itself, The Harsh Reality is one of the strongest bowling balls to date. I used the original Reality a lot and it was one of my favorite asymmetrical bowling balls; therefore, I drilled my Harsh Reality with the same pin-up layout: 65 x 5 x 3/4 x 30. For me, throwing this bowling ball with the “out-of-box” surface was very difficult as this Harsh Reality was so strong that I found it hard to keep the bowling ball on the right side of the head-pin. I quickly brought the surface up to 4000-grit and the ball reaction was much better as the bowling ball got down the lane much easier. It is still a very, very strong bowling ball. Honestly, to throw this bowling ball with the “out-of-box” surface, there has to be a lot of oil on the lane and the lane itself needs to be pretty new and slick. After a slight surface change, my Harsh Reality looked decent on some medium to longer patterns where the backends where very responsive. I have also tried my Harsh Reality on a standard “house” pattern and this bowling ball is great at blending the “wet/dry” conditions. One thing I will add is that this bowling ball went through the pins very well for me. Bowlers that like bowling balls like Gem or Super Nova, will find the Harsh Reality very useful. The Harsh Reality is nothing like its predecessor, where the Reality was Strong Core/Weak Cover. This ball is Strong Core/Strong Cover. This ball is really good on the fresh with HEAVY volumes of oil. This ball really wants to dig into the lane, hook a lot and then just roll to the pocket.

Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 The original Reality has been a staple in tournament bags since it was released in 2021. The Harsh Reality builds on the original with a slightly stronger cover, so it reads the lane a little bit sooner than the Reality. The biggest change is the addition of the AI Outer Core technology. The Harsh Reality is a good ball for the fresh on longer and heavier oil conditions. With a lower RG and 2000 grit finish, it will be able to dig through the heaviest of oil. The 900 Global Harsh Reality features the new Reserve Blend 902 solid coverstock and the Disturbance A.I. asymmetric core. At 15 pounds the RG is a low 2.48 with a differential of .054 and an intermediate diff of .019. Finished at 2000-grit abralon, the Harsh Reality needs a good deal of oil to be effective. Once the Reality was discontinued, you knew 900 Global would have to release something they were sure would be able to fill its shoes. They did not disappoint…for me, the Harsh Reality hooks a few boards more than the original Reality and has the same strong backend motion which made the original such a fan favorite. The combination of cover and A.I. core make this the only ball you will need for the longer and heavier volume oil patterns. If you find the out of box finish is a bit too early, try bringing the surface up to 4000. This will provide a little more push through the front of the lane. Just remember, this ball is designed to hook in oil and that is exactly what it does!

The Harsh Reality uses the same core from the Reality but it’s wrapped with AI technology and new stronger coverstock. The Harsh Reality will read the mid lane better than the orginal Reality but with a strong continuation on the backend. The Harsh Reality will be a great option for heavy oil or those longer patterns when your Eternity Pi isn’t strong enough. I have also found that when your bowling on a wet/dry lane conditions the Harsh Reality is very good at controlling those conditions. My layout for the harsh reality is VLS-5.5x3.25x2 Dual Angle-40x5.5x30 The Harsh Reality will be a great addition to the 900 series line. It will be a great compliment to my Eternity PI. The Harsh Reality will be great for heavy oil lane conditions and the Eternity Pi will be a great complement when the Harsh Reality is burning up or to slow. The Harsh Reality compared to the original Reality. The Harsh Reality is earlier and more continuous than the original.

The new 900 Global Harsh Reality is the newest installment in the SPI Lineup. Being brought in as an upgrade to the original Reality, The Harsh Reality features the 902 Blend solid cover and the Disturbance core with A.I. technology. Compared to the Reality, the Harsh Reality is slightly cleaner through the front part of the lane and a little more responsive to friction. The Harsh continues to want to eat through oil, but it is not as smooth as the original. The Absolute Power is a complete step down from the Harsh Reality as it is much cleaner and responsive to friction. The Absolute Power allows your angles to be opened up more while still maintaining a smoother ball motion. I have all three of these balls layed out very similar. With the Harsh Reality being 5x4x4 2LS, Reality being 4.75x4x4 2LS, and the Absolute Power being 4.75x4.25x4.5 2LS, I see completely different shapes out of all three of these balls. I do not see the Harsh Reality being a replacement rather than a compliment.

PAP 5” Over 1/2 up Rev Rate 300. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: I really love the original Reality so when I heard it was going away I stashed a few. I was then told a new stronger Reality version was coming out. Now we have the Harsh reality. This ball has great colors and a stronger cover and definitely reads the lane sooner than the original. This is good if you have more oil up front or overall but you do sacrifice some back end recovery that the original had. I had to move in to the oil and roll the Harsh Reality faster during the testing to get the best results and I am looking forward to getting the ball on the heavier patterns to see what it can do. I have not seen a difference in hit with the A.I. technology in this particular ball like I have seen in other balls that have incorporated it but I feel the conditions I have used the Harsh Reality on have just been too dry for the best results. The Harsh is stronger than the original and I would put it almost with the original Gem in total hook. Summary: This is a very strong ball from Global. The Harsh Reality provides an earlier read and more hook than the original. The Harsh Reality will be a good choice for oily conditions. Ben Lapointe PAP: 4 7/8 over and 1 ¼ up Layout: 5.25 x 4.25 x 3 The new 900 Global Harsh Reality is SPI’s newest hook monster and man does it ever live up to its name. In comparison to the original Reality, I do not see a ton of similarities. The Reality was a touch cleaner on stronger off the spot than the Harsh. The Harsh sits for me between the Gem and the Reality which for me brings excitement. I found I did not match up with the original Reality or Gem. The Reality being a little too clean for a big ball and the Gem being a little too chuggy. The Harsh is the perfect combination of the two. I can see this piece being great out of the top of the bag on longer oil and heavier volume short patterns when urethane isn’t in play. Go get yours today!!!

Harsh Reality is the newest Big Cover and Big Core ball from SPI. I have really enjoyed throwing the Reality family of bowling balls. I was a little worried when the Reality went away, but hot on its tail was the Harsh Reality. I feel like this ball is a bit stronger than the original Reality. The cover being the Reserve Blend 902 Solid feels a lot like the strength of the Proton Physix. Global says that chemically, it’s similar to the S84 Solid that was found on the original Reality. Although we have the Gems out there, I prefer the shape of the Reality’s. This ball also has the AI core with after throwing them for a year, I am getting very fond of them. It really makes you think about certain hits, like, “I wonder if another ball would have carried that”. This a ball that needs some volume to be effective. I am going to drill a pin down one to see if I can make it something to use on softer patterns and house shots. 900 Global Harsh Reality: Tech specs: Disturbance Asymmetric core with all new A.I. technology with the all-new Reserve Blend 902 solid coverstock. Factory finished at 2000 grit and the ball has a HIGH flare capability. Ball layout: 4 x 5 x 2 3/8 th – 2000 grit finish Bowler specs: 15.5 mph and rev rate in the 380’s and my is PAP is 3 ¼ and at zero up/down and tested on Pro-Lane at ABC North Lanes in Harrisburg, Pa. Having drilled the OG Reality, which to me had the roll and shape of a stronger version of one of my all-time favorite balls – the Roto Grip Epic Odyssey, I was excited to drill an even STRONGER version of the Reality. The prior 2 balls in the Reality series, the Altered Reality and the Reality Check were both hit or miss for me. Both of them were very “condition specific” for me. The Harsh Reality is THE strongest in overall core / coverstock I have ever rolled. A TON more energy going off the end of the pattern and entering the pin deck. It just might be “me” but I really do think I hit the ball hit the pins harder. More of a solid sound hit even on the half and light hits. The coloring for mine is really easy to see and read the ball roll and reaction, I can see the “creamsicle orange” and flat gray colors really well and the coloring has me see the reaction a good deal better than any other recent solids. The Harsh Reality is now the TOP DOG in my arsenal. My go to arsenal for the 2 different centers I bowl in, one center has Pro-Lane and the other center has really worn in HPL, are as follows: Harsh Reality, Attention Star, Absolute Power, Optimum Idol, Hustle RIP, and Lighting Storm spare ball / or Ocean Blue Ice Storm (depending on my mood that morning when I pack up and head out.)

The 900 Global Harsh Reality is a really good replacement for the original Reality. For me, is the perfect line that I like to play just front of me with a big oil conditions. The Harsh goes a little bit far on the lane and hit also harder than original reality. I also can play longer with even if the lane become dryer because the Harsh reality is able to continu to closed correctly to the pins when I goes left. Compared to the RotoGrip Magic Gem, this one read more the mid part of the lane and closed less harder at the triangle. I also compared the Harsh reality againts the 900 Global Xponent. The Xponent did average the same think but really less strong. If the you have heavy oil condition, the Harsh is perfect and if is more med oil condition, go with the Xponent. It can also each others were a good 1-2 punch complement. It can also be a really good choice for bowlers who doesn't have lot of rotation. For sure, the 900Global Harsh Reality will be my trustable ball for heavy oil conditions. #strikingworldwide !! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJQxB4Ev5L56n0H958rouPw

Designed for those heavier oil conditions, the Harsh Reality will be a go to on the fresh for when there is a ton of volume, length and/or lane tightness. I found this ball close to the X3, from Roto Grip, although with a bit more overall shape. I intend on utilizing this ball more on sport patterns when I need a big ball to get it to slow down sooner and control the lane. For the league bowler who is lower on the rev side this would be a good option to go if you like those big asymmetrical bowling balls.

Hey everyone, I'm back with another ball review, and this time it's for the 900 Global Harsh Reality. At 14 pounds this ball is wrapped in the 901 Reserve Blend SolidCoverstock and has the Disturbance A.I. Asymmetric Core with an RG of 2.49, Diff of .054, and a 0.019 PSA.. The layout for this ball is 5x4.5x2 This one I am very pleased with as I haven’t thrown A ball from this line, but something spoke to me. Using this ball on a high-friction lower volume of oil showed the strength of what this ball is capable of being. I can say for sure and you can see from the video that this ball needs oil. This ball is very chuggy and needs oil to stay on line. If you are a speed dominant player you could stay in this ball but for me with average speed and lower rev rate I haven't been able to get a full game out of this ball at league but, that allows me the knowing that it will be really good on a higher pattern and/or a sport shot. In league I use this ball in the track for about half a game then jump into the Attention Star and usually that ball I can stay in the rest of the night by making smaller moves to the left than I would have to if I stayed in the Harsh Reality. I had just drilled up my Absolute Power two weeks prior and decided to drill this bad boy up to roll a little earlier than it. I have been blown away with how strong this ball is on fresh it just grips and continues through the pins. While both balls are strong, the Power definitely has a bit more length than the Harsh with a sharper backend. The one thing I have noticed is the AI Core Technology is truly a gamechanger with how the Harsh Reality gets through the pins. This should be a very popular ball on fresh or patterns with more volume.

The Reality line has been one of 900 Global’s most versatile asymmetric lines to date. With the ability to cover a wide range of ball motions that covers most lane conditions, the Reality line has become a must-have in the bag. The Harsh Reality is the next big ball in that line. The Harsh Reality is the type of ball you pull out of the bag early when the lane conditions are that of a higher volume. This ball really likes to dig into the oil and make a strong overall motion. The Harsh Reality takes the core shape we all loved from the original Reality series and combines it with A.I. core technology. When you combine this more dynamic core with the 902 Solid cover, the result is the strongest Reality I've thrown. This cover creates more traction than the original, and even backends more than the Reality Check due to the A.I. core. This ball is gonna be my first choice on heavy oil conditions, and also a great option to blend out the "cliff" on those over/under house conditions. This strong solid asym is early, blendy, and surprisingly tippy. This ball outhooks all the soild asyms I've had in recent years. The DNA, Gem, and Eternity Pi are all overall weaker and less dynamic downlane than the Harsh Reality.

The 902 solid cover on the Harsh is not quite as early as I was expecting, but still digs hard. It reads the fronts even in heavy oil without getting off line too quick. The AI plus the high diff of this big asymm core really shines, because it makes a strong medium response move down lane. I was expecting the Harsh to be more of a replacement of my original Reality, but the core definitely tips a bit harder. Because of this I will probably keep mine at 1000 - 1500 grit as my go to finish to best fit in my bag. Bowler stats: Left handed PAP: 5 x 1/4up Rev rate: 400

This specific design is intended to maximize control with more hook potential then its predecessor the 900 Global Reality. This ball is definitely a number one ball out of the bag you are looking for but with a twist. The Harsh Reality just like the OG will allow you to continue to open the lane up as transition occurs a bit more than some other offerings. At times, "big asyms" tend to quit and the next ball down is not quite enough yet. The Harsh Reality should fill the gap on longer and higher volume patterns and will allow you to stay in a bit longer then previous releases. You should expect a continuous, strong reaction throughout the lane. Also, 900 has kept the Int diff lower on the Harsh Reality to achieve some length down lane so the ball as designed does not "hook at your feet" and "quit". This has been the legendary wow factor of the OG Reality and it continues on here. Plus being the first A.I. offering in the 900 line makes it even more attractive to possibly catch that up to five percent carry difference being discussed around Amplified Inertia. As previous noted above, the Harsh Reality will work best on longer and higher volume patterns. If your desire is to stay in your big asym longer as the lanes transition this ball will not disappoint. If you want the biggest hooking and most powerful 900 ball today in your bag this is the one! The Harsh Reality is 900 Globals newest 900 series ball. For anyone that was a big fan of the Reality like myself, as soon as you heard it was discontinued, I was hoping the Harsh would be close. The Harsh features the same core as the original but is now wrapped in reserve blend 902 solid. The Harsh for me is just a touch earlier and stronger overall but still allows me to play in the same zone as my Reality. The Harsh having AI core technology slightly increases the overall diff and reduces the RG. The Harsh for me is going to be the perfect ball down from my GEM and ball up from my Summit.
