Primal Scream

The Primal Scream is built to be very clean down the lane with a vicious backend motion on medium to heavy oil. It features the dual-density Impulse V2 core, which has been newly engineered to provide a 2.55 RG and .050 differential. This symmetric core provides the perfect amount of length so the Whiplash Solid Reactive shell can unleash on the backend. The Primal Scream delivers outstanding entry angle and bull-dozing continuation through the pins.

The new Primal Scream from Motiv is a great compliment to the Motiv family of balls. I have 3 of them as of today. One is drilled pin down, no hole. One is drilled pin up with no extra hole, and one is drilled pin up with an extra hole. The one with the pin up with an extra hole is the most violent on the backends, great for long oil or high volume. The Primal Scream will be one of the first balls out of my bag on high volume conditions. Despite being the same cover, these balls have defined differences in motion. The covers are all very easily modified (usually shined) for added length OR sanded for rolling earlier. Alan Grobmeier Motiv Staff www.motivbowling.com

The MOTIV Primal Scream is a green, mean striking machine with the dual-density Impulse V2 inner core and the Whiplash Solid Reactive coverstock with a 4000 grit sanded finish. The Primal Scream has a RG (2.55) and Diff (.050) which allows the ball to easily get through the front part of the lanes while storing energy for more backend “pop”. The symmetric core distributes the motion of the ball and allows the much needed continuation through the pins. I changed the coverstock to 2000 and I was able to use the ball on both medium to wet lane conditions on most oil patterns. The Primal Scream is a great addition to the MOTIV product line and should be in your bowling bag at all times. Cory MOTIV Staff Member Vise Staff Member www.Motivbowling.com

Bowler Stats-Ball Speed 15.5 MPH Rev Rate-App 280 Axis of Rotation-30 to 60 degrees Axis Tilt 9 degrees Right Handed PAP-5 over, 1/4" up The Motiv Primal Scream is designed for medium to heavy oil patterns according to Motiv. The ball is as advertised It pushes through the heads on fresh shots as well as when the heads get thin. The ball revs up very late in the mid lanes and make a strong short transition move at the end of the pattern. The core/cover combo requires me to move deeper because of the angularity of the move. I am normally somone who keeps the ball in front of me so this took me out of my comfort zone. But, it worked as I understood it would. It slides in oil and reads the friction quickly. The Core of the Ball, the V2 Impluse, revs late in the lanes and creates a lot of flair. I have to have friction right, but those who are not as rev/speed challenged as this old man may be able to use in on heavier volumes and lengths. If I tug the ball into the soup the ball skates. I had to do a good amount of adjusments with both drilling and surface prep, but once I found my matchup, it definetly becomes a tournament ball for me. I think it will be a great match up for me later in long format tournaments on The Primal Scream lets me know when to put it away as it will start leaving weak 10's and 7's on hits that look good, as well as getting into an area of over/under. If you use this ball as designed, that is on medium oil patterns of volume or length as a skid/snap reaction, it will be a very effective ball. To throw it on a burnt conditions will require a healthy polish but the higher RG should make it easier to get down the lane. With the Primal Scream Motiv has a piece of equipment to give a ball reaction that is disappearing from the marketplace and did not occur at all in the Motiv line. I'm very colorblind but the Neomark Graphic makes the ball very pleasing to the eye and give it good shelf appeal. Lane Condition: 40ft. THS on Brunswick ProLane Medium-Heavy Volume Layout: 4 ½” x 4” 70* x 4 ½” x 40 It is not every day that someone can find a ball that has the ability to cut through heavier oil and retain backend angularity while also being able to glide easily through the heads on medium conditions. On this day, however, the Motiv Primal Scream is the ball that fits this role. The newly created Whiplash solid coverstock (finished at 4000 Abralon) gives the ball the bite it needs to grip the lane while the Impulse V2 core (2.55 RG, .050 Diff) pushes the ball through the heads with ease. This combination allows for a strong, angular motion down lane and devastating power to drive through the pins. The more I throw my Scream, the more versatility I have discovered. On the fresh pattern I usually play a straighter line and have watched the ball grab the dry and quickly change direction, giving an impressive angle into the pocket. As the nights have worn on I have been able to continuously move left without sacrificing any hitting power. The ball still glides through the heads easily and gives the same strong backend motion as though it still had all of its energy stored up. On the most dramatic of nights I have moved a total of a 12-7 from start to finish and have not seen any diminished performance. If you’re looking for a ball that can grip the lane through the oil, and still retain energy for a strong backend jolt, the Motiv Primal Scream is what you are looking for. The Motiv Primal Scream!!!! Awesome, and fun bowling ball, great looking, and an absolute homerun. I previously witnessed this ball in action before I got the chance to drill it up, and i was impresssed and in love before I even drilled mine up! This ball had amazing hitting power, and awesome continous backend, I saw messengers flying and Pete Weber like angle into the pins, some even left solid 9 pins with some messnegers coming across to get them. So I put it to the test on my own, first thing I noticed was how clean it was through the front part of the lane, and the backend and recovery I received was jaw dropping, it reacted exactly how I had witnessed with other staffers throwing it, this ball out of the box rolled a little earlier, which is expected, but with polish, shot through the fronts with such ease. This ball is one of the best Motiv has ever had to offer, and a ball that can fit in everyone's hands, covering all styles of the game. I suggest you try one for yourself, and see what I mean, you WILL NOT be disappointed! Elliot Ten Motiv Staff Member

PRIMAL SCREAM- This ball is unbelievable! By far my favorite even overtaking my previous favorite The Sigma Tour. Its strong move to the pocket off the back of the pattern makes it a must have for all bowlers. Dull or Shiny this ball reads the lane with incredible repeatability and makes a consistent move to the pocket and provides that continuous move through the pins that current Motiv user have come to know and love. Laying out two different balls one pin up and one down provides me with an easy transition from one to the other as the pattern transitions without changing my look or forcing me too make a drastic move. The pin up version provides me with some added length and a strong backend motion while the pin down provide a bit tamer back end but still allows the ball to read mid lane are retain maximum energy as it enters the pocket. I can honestly say this one is a must have !!! Oh and the black and green colors make it look really cool going down the lane! Now is the time to try MOTIV –Evaluate your needs! Identify that missing piece in your bag and see how this fits! I love it and I think you will too! Never be afraid to try new things because you’ll never know what you might have missed out on! Review: The Primal scream is the latest ball from already a wonderful line from Motiv. What can I say other than that I can’t stop throwing this ball while in league and here is why; the Primal scream has a clean motion down the lane and has very predictable ball motion which I like. Also with the Primal Scream it has wicked backend motion once it hits the breakpoint, therefore the pins stand no shot once the Primal scream hits the pocket. The Primal Scream has a new and improved Impulse V2 core which gives that wicked backend and has the Whiplash Solid Reactive shell that we saw on the 2Cruel, though the hybrid version, this core and cover combination is just an awesome set for an awesome ball that you need in your bag. The Primal Scream is recommended for medium to heavy oil conditions and can be thrown in THS leagues. INNER CORE: Impulse™ V2 COVERSTOCK: Whiplash™ Solid Reactive FINISH: 4000 Grit Sanded 15# SPECS: RG: 2.55, DIFF: .050 Comments: As I said in the review I can’t quit throwing this ball. The Primal Scream is a very clean ball down the lane, has nice predictability and a wicked backend. These combinations are what I love in a bowling ball and I believe any bowler would love this as well. And when the Primal Scream hits the pocket, the pins just don’t stand a chance. From what I have seen, the Primal Scream is a ball that I can use as a high rev player in all three games in league. As lanes breakdown, I can move left, keep my target the same and with the backend that the Impulse V2 core brings, the Primal Scream just gets strong the deeper I go and I haven’t had a ball in my bag for that purpose in a long time. www.motivbowling.com Motiv Staff Player, John Robertson

Now that I have had my Primal Scream for a few weeks and have been able to throw it both well and poorly, I feel I can now post my review. Layout: 70 x 25 x 3 3/4 Weight 15lb Pin: 3 - 4 PAP: 5 5/8 right 1/8 up Revs: 450 Speed: 17 - 18 Hot off the press: The Scream was originally laid out without an axis hole. On a fresh THS, knowing the strength of the ball, I lined up on 30, swung the ball out to 10 and the ball drove right through the pocket. As my arm began to loosen up I was able to fully hit the ball and realized the angularity of the entry was too sharp and constantly leaving corner pins. A P2 hole was added to help mellow the reaction and flatten the entry to the pocket. This allowed fr about a 4 board reaction difference. League Play: With the Primal Scream I am easily able to play the extreme angles away from all the other bowlers that puts me on an island of my own. This is ideal for about a game and a half. After that, there is a burn area created by the other bowlers that once the ball hits it, I have found the Scream to over react. Likes: The colors of the ball pop. There is not other ball I have seen that has the motion of the Primal Scream. This ball does not stop driving through the pocket. I do like how I am able to adjust my release and the ball still remains as responsive as if I were following through on my normal release. By flattening my release I am able to get the ball further down lane and lengthen the break point. Dislikes: The ball can be too strong and create too much angle entry to the pocket. I would not recommend throwing this ball on light or short oil patterns. Recommendations: I would recommend this ball for anyone who is looking to get more length down lane with a late angular response to the pocket.

Ball Specs Ball Specs: Motiv Primal Scream Solid Reactive 4000 Grit Sanded Symmetrical Core Layout 60x5x45 No Balance Hole Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5 Over 3/4 Up Rev Rate 275. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed off hand 18 Review: The New Motiv Primal Scream is another great addition to the Motiv lineup. All the bowling “buzz” words apply to this one. Clean through the front - This ball really gets past the heads clean, saving energy for a very angular but predictable backend. Continuation – The Scream drives through the pins hard and it’s comforting to see the ball exit behind the 8 pin, (For a righty). Mid lane Read – This ball revs in the mids great, again saving energy for the backend. The Primal Scream covers a wide range of lane conditions due to the ability to keep the first twenty feet from dictating the ball motion. I used this ball on a House shot that was slightly on the oily side, and a flat shorter pattern. The ball was stronger than my Primal Impulse but less than the 2-Cruel. I had great recovery even when I put it right of target. The Primal Scream was very predictable as the lane broke down, and adjustments seem minor. The Scream also carried well when I moved deeper due to the entry angle this ball has. This ball also has fantastic color and shelf appeal. Summary: Clean through the front with a great angular backend. Excellent hit and carry. Predictable for an angular ball. Possibly a better core and cover match than the Impulse. Anyone that likes to watch a ball corner will love this. Glenn PBA Member Motiv Staff Turbo Staff www.motivbowling.com sportshot64@comcast.net

This new release from Motiv is an incredible addition to combat medium to heavy oil patterns. The new Primal Scream utilizes the new solid version of the whiplash cover that was first introduced on the 2 cruel and comes 4000 grit OOB. The new solid version of the whiplash is even stronger in the midlane then the 2 cruel and incredibly predictable at the end of the pattern. The re-designed impulse V2 core is a high RG medium diff combo that works great with this new coverstock on longer and heavier oil patterns. The shape of this ball with the new solid cover and tweaked impulse core creates a smooth yet strong shape in heavy oil and revs up in the midlane extremely well without losing energy downlane before it screams back to the pocket from virtually anywhere! Motiv has done it again with the new Primal Scream. With the new and improved Impulse core V2 and the Whiplash solid reactive shell previously seen on the 2 Cruel as the Hybrid reactive shell, this ball gives you everything you desire in a bowling ball. Entry angle, continuation and versatility. Oh, did I mention the colors are amazingly blended also?! The Scream is a look that Motiv has never seen before with its amazing clearance through the front of the lane it stores up energy to unleash on the back end for maximum entry angle into the pocket. The thing that sets this ball apart from the rest is its unreal amount of continuation, when this ball hooks its hooking until the pit. Come on out to your local pro shop and get MOTIVated! The Primal Scream is the perfect addition to my arsenal for a variety medium-heavy oil conditions. I drilled 2 of them, one with my favorite layout, pin under bridge on center line with a 45-degree cg kick, and the other I tried a different layout, pin over middle finger, cg under ring finger. Both balls have their place on the lanes, and all I can say is WOW when this ball makes its move off the breakpoint! Being a classic "tweener", my concerns of moving left and trying to create recovery down the lane are GONE! For all types of styles, the Primal Scream is a welcome addition to anyone looking to make bolder moves deeper on the lane, with the confidence in a ball that will make a strong, continuous move off the breakpoint. Good color combination of black/green with the orange highlights. The Primal Scream features MOTIV’s newest cover technology the “Whiplash solid reactive” cover. This is a solid reactive cover which differs from the Whiplash hybrid reactive cover on the 2Cruel. I drilled mine up for a THS pattern and got exactly what I was looking for. I found that I had to transition quicker with this ball from the high volume track area due to how strong this ball comes off the friction. I have found though that I can just start inside more and the Primal Scream creates plenty of entry angle for me to get the corners out no matter how deep I go. This has actually allowed me to start on a part of the lane with a lot less traffic therefore allowing me to only have to make minor adjustments throughout the night and eliminating the major mistakes I would see when I fell behind the transition move. The Primal Scream is an exceptional piece of bowling equipment. It features a modified version of the original Impulse core dubbed "Impulse V2." The RG has been slightly lowered from 2.60 to 2.55. The coverstock is a solid version of Whiplash, which is also used on the 2CRUEL. My Scream is layed out 50 x 6 x 40. I honeslty haven't changed the surface. I just use Power Gel Clean and every 6-12 games I clean it with a 4000 grit pad. It always seems to read the lane the right way for me. I haven't had trouble with it being squirty at the breakpoint which is neat for me with my faster ball speed. I really see this piece being an asset for me on the medium tour patterns such as Viper, Chameleon, and Scorpion. This piece is becoming my quintessential benchmark ball replacing my Sigma Tour. I consider the Primal Scream to be a high friction production with a moderately fast response to friction. I would also like to add that the Sigma Hybrid is very similar in terms of friction production, but is significantly smoother than the Primal Scream. I had heard the buzz about the MOTIV Primal Scream… about it being clean through the fronts, and a super strong angular back end finish. Even though I had high expectations, I’d have to say I was still surprised how strong it is. I drilled mine up with a layout of 70* x 4 1/2 x 40*. When you play deep inside angles, you need to have confidence that your ball will recover when you hit your spot. The Primal Scream is just that ball for me. That confidence allows me to be firm with my speed when I’m in there around the 4th / 5th arrow, without worrying that the ball will blow through the breakpoint. Here is a video of me throwing the Primal Scream. In this video I also throw the Primal Instinct, 2 Cruel and Ascent Pearl for comparison purposes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3eAB0IfCOA As you can see in the video, this ball has a pleasing crisp shape on the backend. When I hit the pocket thin with the Primal Scream – the pins really mix well… when other balls may leave a 2 pin, or worse – a 2-8-10. As all tournament bowlers know, you need to have a strong piece that allows you to play deep when the lanes are trashed. This is the best ball I’ve thrown that gives me that look. Or, if you just bowl in a house shot league and are looking for a ball that will make an aggressive move down lane to wow your friends, either way this is the ball for you. --Kevin Gallagher— PBA Member MOTIV Staff

Primal Scream Description: The Primal Scream is the third generation Primal and allows for the most overall hook potential in the line. The Primal Scream shares the same Whiplash coverstock as the recently released 2 Cruel, except that it is a solid version of the Whiplash coverstock, instead of a hybrid. Both, the 2 Cruel and Primal Scream also share the same 4000 wet sanded out of box finish. The Core in the Primal Scream is a modified version of the Primal Impulse core. Reaction: The Scream changes direction faster than any of MOTIV’s previously releases. This ball is designed to create steep entry angles, so for those who feel that they don’t see natural big backend this ball will provide! This ball is best suited on medium conditions with the potential to really open the lane up. For many, this will be the first ball out of the bag because of the ability to start and finish with it! Comparisons: I experimented with polish over the box finish of the Primal Scream and 2 Cruel and the Scream was cleaner and stronger at the breakpoint. After some surface adjustments I preferred the polish over the box surface as I felt it gave me the full potential of the intended purpose of the ball. With my Primal Scream polished I can see it filling a void and getting a lot of use when my Sigma Tour is lacking length or too smooth. My Primal Impulse tended to be too clean to use regularly and although it had recovery it is not near the recovery and torque the Primal Scream provides. Summary: This ball allows MOTIV to have a very well rounded lineup. The Primal Scream combines predictability and angularity. This one wasn’t designed for one condition or bowler style, everyone will find the Primal Scream beneficial! YouTube Video: http://youtu.be/q_0Crw50mbo MOTIV Staff Member Mike Magolan
