Had been out of bowling for 12 years, and decided to upgrade eqiupment. (Johnny Petraglia LT-48 and Columbia U-dot! )Local proshop owner swore by the Hyde, stating it was one of the most under-rated balls on the market. Couldn't have been more true. Have used it since 2004, and I've raised my every-other week league average from 160 to 191 with little effort. (beer league) Rolled my first sanctioned perfect game in November (218-233-300-751), and although I've since purchased Ebonite's Infinite One and the Raw Toxic Hammer, the Hyde is still the first ball out of the bag. Currently looking for another one on E-Bay as a back-up!

I don't know why i haven't put a review on here for this ball but here it goes. I got this ball about a year or 2 ago from a friend for FREE. I got it re-drilled and told the pro shop to not make it too aggressive. i was pleased with how it was drilled. Like i said in my Likes section it rolls out nice then revs up really quick then dashes to the pocket. It likes to snap sometimes but its more of a strong roll. This ball is a nice compliment to the Jekyll. I have both so i will post a review for that as soon as I actually throw it again cause i haven't thrown it in a while.

awesome ball. Cant beat the price. carry the corner pins good. Ball has a lot more control when you polish the ball. Then when you keep it at factory finish. I would recommend this ball too any one who shot is medium. Keep this ball dull if your throw it on heavy oil. This ball works a lot better polished on medium lane conditions. The HYDE is probaly the best ball out there for the money your going to spend. Thron a couple differnt Columia 300 balls, by far this is my favorite and this the best one I nhave thrown.

Do not get this ball unless your regular bowling alley keeps their lanes well oiled! The ball tracks pretty smoothly through the wet but just cuts across when it hits the dry. It has lead to some pretty interesting spare shots to say the least. I am a palm bowler and rev the heck out of the ball so bowlers with lower revs may like this ball. Despite the light weight, this ball packs a punch and really sends the pins flying. I tried polishing this ball to reduce the grip but the particle cover stock keeps on gripping. I think I am going to have to get another ball and this ball is going to be sitting in my closet.

I drilled this ball up with the pin under the fingers between the bridge and the cg out about 1/2 inch. This ball revs up very nicely, with a smooth, consistent arc to the pocket. Played this ball about 15 to 5 and it hits a ton! Expected it to roll a little more in the oil, but I'm very satisfied with the overall roll of this ball. Didn't want a weight hole, so I probably could have kicked the cg out more to get a better snap. Can recommend to any beginner bowler, wanting a ball that will hook, especially with slower speed, but won't empty out your pocketbook.

overall this is one great ball. I would reccomend it to anyone who wants to upgrade to a nice mid price ball. Not exactly the best for heavy lane conditions if you are looking for a good backend. Not the strongest hitting ball in heavy oil patterns either. I also had a lot of crossovers because i pulled over my body but hey whatever works right? So now I am looking to upgrade to columbias Alter Ego a very nice ball thats been reccomended to me by lots of people. Also one of my teamates had the ball and it worked great for him and so I am thinking i will give that ball a try.

This is a good ball for the price. Ball is too aggressive and blows right by the pins leaving carry problems. I suggest that this ball be polish if you want the skid flip reaction out of reactive. Overall I like this ball, but to a certain extent. This ball keeps breaking my heart when I crush the pocket, pins start flying, messangers rolling and the 7 pin stands laughing at me. I have had this ball for about 3 weeks already and I guess I have to get use to it. I'm thinking about going to storm but their balls don't last very long. I have my ER polished up for dry lanes because the ball doesn't hook anymore, even after I had oil baked out of it and resurfaced. Columbia makes quality balls and I'm looking forward to getting the higher performance balls in the future. Good job Columbia

Ball is drilled 5 X 4 with X-hole 0.5" past PAP. Drilling provides length, arc and set. I was looking for a ball to read the oil pattern and provide a smooth, clean arc to the pocket on both wet/dry and toasty conditions. The Hyde fits this bill perfectly. When most solid particles grab too early on toasty conditions and most reactives jump when reaching the dry, the Hyde is patient providing a strong controlled arc to the pocket. Smooth reactive oiler from Columbia that is cleaner than particles, but just as controllable. Great for wet/dry conditions as makes smooth transition when reaching the dry. Ball revs early and reads midlane well. Not the biggest hooker, but covers alot of boards. The length is shorter than most reactives as the ball reads oil pattern from start. Starts hook early arcing all the way to the pocket. Hit is good, but not sensational. Works better on toasty conditions than particles due to cleaner reactive cover. Not jumpy at all. Too strong a

What an awesome buy, and for as hard as this ball hits the pocket, you would think it would be a high performance ball. I have bowled with it for about 3 months now and what consitencey. It is a pretty forgiving ball if u tend to be a little off the pocket. Would defintely recommend to anyone-you wont be disappointed. Beware though of heavy oil or dry lanes- Heavy tends to skid more and not want to make it to the pocket-SLOW DOWN AND MOVE OVER TO THE RIGHT (RIGHT HANDED) Dry you dont have a chance- put it away (not made for that) and pull out the Jekyll.

I love the ball, hits like a semi truck, need to figure it out so as to hit the pocket consistently. on occasion when i do the pin action is amazing, can not wait to finaly get the ball figured out. (this is first time throwing a 3 finger hook.) It is much better in the oil then in the dry, as soon as it goes into the dry backend it just cuts, almost a 90 degree angle, thing is nuts. I absolutely love this ball. I would recomend this ball to any one who does not want to spend all kinds of money, but wants an awesome ball.

It is an incredible ball for a bowler who is looking for power. Not a good ball for someone who doesnt want a top of the line in my opinion high performance ball. Get this ball asap I will personally gurantee a happy buy. This is the best buy for any bowler craving a strike ball or spare ball it can do both with ease. I dont think that Jekyll is worth it maybe get the Ebonite Prime Time or Hammer Vicious Pearl Reactive. Dont be fooled by wrong reviews spend the money and be happy and get a great ball for yourself.

i like this ball. it hits teh pocket really really hard. i have like 5 boards both ways from my mark to hit for a strike. it really helps on off days. right now i am using my icon as a spare ball. if you have any suggestions for a spare ball put them under columbia message board i think new ball or something like that. i have used 3 columbia balls in a row and i cannot complaine. they all have worked well for me. overall i really like this ball. i think it works well. and i suggest it to anyone who bowls.

i like this ball......it was what i was looking for. i was looking for something to hook on medium-heavy oil. i am also throwing The Game and The Icon. i have been very impressed with columbia 300 bowling balls. i now have 3 balls for 3 different types of lane conditions. i was using the icon for everything but now it seems to not be curving as much. i have over 250 games on it but my average has gone way up. so overall the hyde is a very good bowling ball. if you need a ball for medium to heavy oil this is the ball you should go for.<s

I won this ball in a raffle from my summer league. Lucky for me I didn't have to pay for it because I'm less than impressed with the Hyde, or Columbia for that matter. Anyway this ball is 16 pounds and it's drilled label, and it rolls down the lane and hooks into the pocket just like any other medium to heavy oil ball out there. The hit is just like every other ball, nothing special at all. I guess if you love Columbia than you'd like this one as well, but I'm not really interested in it. I'll stick with Visionary or AZO anyday.

got this ball a few weeks ago and my scores hav been on the rise since! this ball really hooks a lot without much effort and my friends were all stunned! so are they wif my scores nowadays.. u can jus hook the ball and let it find the pocket itself with minimal error as the ball path is very predictable.. but u mus note that this ball is condition specfic and u should not try this ball on dry/very dry or oily lanes or it would not hook well.. this ball is real cool but i wonder why few users got this ballz, sigh..

I was looking for something between the big breaking hook of my Wicked and the tamer arc from my Silver Streak (tame drilling pattern on the Silver Streak). The Hyde was a good choice, providing a really crushing finish but with a much more predictable break point and not as much snap as the Wicked. I could not use this ball for the first 2 games of our scratch league, but with some lineage on the lanes, I used it for the last 2 and was impressed with its reaction...plus 88 for the last two. This is a nice little monster and has a permanent home in my bag.

Bought with the Jekyll, which was my replacement for the Monster ScreamR, to counter the times when the ball would skid down and hit soft. Really this was bought with choice in mind, especially for the tournament conditions. After bowling the Jekyll down a couple of times i tried the Hyde, and it began to hook in on the oil, as was expected. At the end it had about 4 more boards of movement from the second arrow, but with a more consistant arcing movement, as opposed to the skid snap of the Jekyll. I moved in to the middle of the lane to test out the hook on the heavier patch of oil. bowled the 23-15 line, which needed a bit of tweaking, but once the angle was found the ball HIT. While the Jekyll was leaving the odd 9 and 10 Pin, the Hyde took them all down without the need for tap-outs. In saying that i am not exactly the mosts consistant bowler, and heavier hits left some awkward splits (5 10 and 4 10) whenever it hit head. Brookie swept them all away however. Two great b

If you want a ball that works well on medium/heavy oil, then this ball not only delivers the big hitting capacity you come to expect from the current balls on the market, but it also delivers a very big and controllable hook. This is a perfect ball to build your arsenal around if you're thinking of taking your bowling to the pro level. Oh, and don't think I've only tried this with the big hook and big crank...I've taken the ball inside as well, and it holds better than I expected, and with the big turn you get that nice late hook right up through the 8 pin. Great ball for a great price...<s
