Brunswick BVP Goliath Bowling Ball

BVP- Brunswick Value Performance Advanced Particle Technology and a new core system have resulted in the Goliath, the hgihest hook potential ball in the Brunswick's history. Burnswick's Hook Potential Scale, formerly 10-150, has been expanded to 10-175 to accommodate the 160 hook potential rating of the Goliath. Medium RG: Goliath's new inverted bell core system is a medium RG design that is a perfect match to the Goliath high traction coverstock. High traction coverstocks can roll too early when combined with lower RG cores. The Goliath core helps create mid-lane recovery and a strong arcing backend reaction. Medium RG Differential: With an RG differential of 0.044 the Goliath inverted Bell Core System will provide plenty of track flare for most bowlers without encountering the problems associated the problems associated with over-flaring.

Don't like the tracking? Change the surface! This ball has the most flexible cover stock I've ever seen in my 40 years of bowling. It puts many others to shame! I've tried 4000 Abralon for a down and in and 1000 for a 2nd arrow shot . All work well. My favorite finish is a grey scotchbrite with a stance 2 marks left of of center shooting outside 3rd in soup. Often on an early roller the energy is burned up before it hits the pins but this ball delivers a punch. The ball has a stronger finish than my No Mercy, and will hold the line better than my No Mercy for more frames.

Bought this ball for my 9 year old son. Now it was only the 10lbs ball so the weight block isn't same as heavier weights. My son was throwing a plastic maxim ball before moving him to this. He was able to get his maxim to move on home alleys (out to 5 board and back). He was heading to a Provincial tournament in a house known for heavy oil. So I went and bought him the BVP Goliath. Drilled the ball with pin centered above fingers. He was the only person in the alley who could get any movement in his ball. This included the (180+ ave. Seniors). He had to move his line a bit and play second arrow (10 board) but his backend was great. First 3 games he rolled on the ball won him the Provincial Hi-Low Doubles Championship. He shot 100+ pins over average with this ball on "foriegn" lanes. Ball was worth the $$$ I paid

I got this ball to help out on my house shot. I was looking for something to give me about 5-8 more boards on heavy oil. I drilled this ball with the Pin 4 1/2 and the CG 4 1/2 from my PAP. This ball is ok but I think I drilled it wrong. I got scared from the reports of how early this ball rolled so I tried to compensate by drilling this ball so it would get further down the lane, plus heavily polished the ball. The ball does roll smooth but it gets a little to far down the lane before it starts to read the lane. The ball does hook but not more than anything I already own. But I will try taking the polish off and adding a weight hole to bring the ball to negative weight. This should help to bring the breakpoint back on the lane and even out the jumpiness. All in all I would recommend this ball to someone that is a stroker looking to play a tweeners line or a tweener looking to play closer to a crankers line.

overall you cant go wrong with this ball for the price and versatility it has...my "coach" and i have polished and sanded this ball for different conditions..and it works well each time as long as i do what im supposed to do! but i mainly use this ball now for oily conditions only and have threw my first 600 with it! i feel brunswick has done a good job with the BVP series..i have just ordered the rampage and cant wait to see how it does on dryer conditions!!..anyone who says the BVP line doesnt match up well just really arent bowling

When I need to know what a bowling ball is gonna do; this is the ball I use. The house condition I play is straight around the first arrow and hooks towards the pocket. The typical house condition I play is a top hat condition; with 8 dry boards to the outside but oily in the middle. The other bowling alleys I play in the area tend to have like an inverted block condition where the middle is drier but the outside arrows stay oily. In this case I play around the 8 board with a little more speed and get the same result. I have acheived many 200 games with this ball. I am very pleased with the overall performance. But if the lanes have excess oil this ball won't turn hard enough when it reaches the backend or if lack of oil is the condition, another choice of ball would be recommended.<scrip

From what I have seen of this ball it is very impressive. It is playing the same line as my old Timberwolf and eventually will probably replace that ball . I have it drilled with the pin above the ring finger and the cg kicked out about 2.5" from grip center.(3" pin) This drilling was intended to keep the ball from being too early and flat to the pocket (my other brunswick particles were terrible because they did that) It has worked beautifully so far. The hit and carry seem to be top line.(first night out I left a high-flush seven pin and messenger went to the right wall and all the way back to the left side to clear out the seven) Reads the lane very consistienly and controllably but still has enough energy to clear the deck. Will update review after I throw on more patterns.

When used on the proper condition, the Goliath is amazing!! If I may, the two previous reviewers were staing that the Goliath did not hook at all. What they were seeing (or not) was that the ball was rolling out on the dry boards before you could detect the ball was hooking. Also, any high load particle ball IS NOT designed to be used to "hook the lane". They are designed to keep you in control when less aggressive equipment is unpredictable. As a former Pro Shop operator, when a customer asked me what the biggest hooking ball, at that time, was, I would ask them to define what they beleived was hook. Most people define hook as what they see at the backend. If you want backend hook, you want a reactive ball.

I bought this ball to replace a damaged Crush/R and a stolen Stinger. Both of those ball hooked very hard for me. I like to play second arrow, and let it come back in. If I try that with this ball, it seem to find the 4-7 pocket (I am left-handed). With wither of my pervious balls, I would pick up a 10 pin by setting up with my left hand in line with the first arrow, and thowing my regular shot over the first arrow and it would hook over to the 10 pin., this one will pick up a 8 or 9 pin that way. It may be the way the ball is drilled, bu the guy that did the drilling for me said it is set up to hook very hard. I also have a Zone, which is my spare (7 pin) ball, and it hooks harder than this one does. Not real happy with this one...

well i got this ball from a friend when i traded him for the intense inferno. this ball did nothing, i mean nothing at all. sure it had its pocket if i played the outside straight up, which i dont like to do. well the lanes werent even oily and everything else was between 2nd and 3rd and this ball was out on first arrow some how managing to hit pocket. i really dont understand how i ball drilled to hook early wont do much. it flares almost have the ball but it just wont move much. dont know what else to do. dont get this ball if you want a choice between the nemsis and the golaith.

I'm happy with this ball for the money. First day I got it, shot 257. I've had 11 in a row a few times with it. But I've also had some low-scores with it when I try to force it to work on certain conditions, or I do anything other than roll it straight up the back. Still, it's pretty darn versatile. For me, it does not skid/snap at all though, despite what the box may say. It's a smooth arc (which is what I expected from this ball anyway). I wonder, has anyone tried polishing there's at all? *EDIT* Ball soaks up oil like crazy. Have to clean it/scuff it after every 3 or 4 games, or else it glazes over and goes really straight. Kinda of a PITA. Lowered rating of this ball.

this ball is very good for the more oily shot. this ball would go great with the nemesis which is also a great ball, that would be a great arsenal. people say that this ball is like the swamp monster, but i dont think it is like the swamp monster at all, i have bowled with a swamp monster and this ball and this ball is much much better. so dont listen if people tell you that this ball is junk because it is much better than they will tell you, believe me. if you want this ball to roll great than drill it with the pin between below the fingers and the cg below the ring finger
