Powerful. Precise. The Typhoon builds momentum with every rotation before unleashing its full force downlane. Built for light to medium oil conditions, the Typhoon delivers length up front and a strong, controlled motion off the backend. The Reactor Pearl coverstock clears the front part of the lane with ease, while Power Edge fine-tunes friction, creating a clean and consistent transition. Designed for everyone—even those who prefer lighter weights—the Typhoon delivers even more performance than expected from a Hot Line ball.

Typhoon Bowling Ball Review
I drilled up my TYPHOON 4 x 4 x 2. This stacks the CG/Pin over my ring finger. I lightly scuffed it with a 3000 pad to just get the gloss off. The TYPHOON is a good read for our center with its 20+ year old panels. It floats thru the front and has a good shape in the back. It is a great ball down option compared to the ROAD WARRIOR and OPTIMUM IDOL PEARL. When those balls are too much early or down lane, the TYPHOON shines as the next option before going to the TROPICAL BREEZES.

Light - Medium Oil
Well, Storm has done it again. It is a light/medium oil pearl ball for sure. I threw it right out of the box, I liked it. But for me, everyone is different. I thought it still jumped a little to much for me on the back end, so a 3000 pad came in handy. It still read the mid lane, but it just tamed down the back end snap. It cane in very handy for wood lanes. Even synthetic once they break down Its always a great ball. I like to play straighter, so this ball gives me room when the lanes break down, or different harder oil patterns. It comes into play.

Storm Typhoon
The Typhoon is a good ball to have in your bag when the lanes get drier. I can count on this ball to give me great length down lane and still have a controllable but strong backend motion. I am able to stay in a position on the lane without having to make a drastic move longer with this type of motion Typhoon offers. When this ball sees a little oil it does have a smooth backend motion for myself and when it sees a bit of the dry it wants to continue down lane and still give me a nice backend motion. The Typhoon is a cleaner, higher RG addition to Storm’s line-up. Inside this bowling ball is a simple yet trustworthy Atmos A.I. core which gives us core numbers that we don’t often see. On the outside of the Typhoon – the proven Reactor coverstock and, of course, the Power Edge Finish. Since this core is not very strong, I drilled my Typhoon with a simple pin up layout which is 5 x 4 ½ by 2. We don’t often see ball manufacturer releasing bowling balls with cores that produce a little higher RG with medium differential, so naturally bowling balls like the Typhoon are always intriguing to me. My initial thoughts about the bowling ball is that I do like the length that I get out this core and coverstock combination. The Typhoon has no issues getting to the end of the pattern. It also seems to respond to friction a little slower when compared to similar bowling balls, which is a bonus in most cases. The Typhoon does remind me of the Revenant; however, I believe that the Power Edge Finish on the Typhoon makes the window of use a little bit larger as that finish seems to tackle patterns with higher volumes a little bit better. I can definitely see the Typhoon working very well on longer oil patterns, especially when bowling on higher friction lane surfaces. For those who have a little bit more ball speed, adding just a little bit of surface would help the Typhoon create a more even front-to-back ball motion. In the world of worn lane panels, I believe everyone should have a cleaner, higher RG bowling like the Typhoon in their arsenal.

Storm Typhoon
The Storm Typhoon is the latest release in the Hot line, typically the Hot line shares the Reactor cover stock with the Tropical Surges, but with stronger cores than you see in the Tropical Surges. This is the case with the Typhoon, a beautiful deep purple Reactor Pearl cover with a Grape Punch scent. The Typhoon has the Atmos AI core with a much stronger 2.53 RG and 0.039 differential in 14 pounds compared to the 2.60 RG and 0.025 that you see in the 14 pound Surges. I was a big fan of the Electrify - particularly the short lived solid version of it, so I can hardly wait to see if we might get a solid version of the Typhoon down the road. The Typhoon will rarely be your first ball out of the bag unless you’re extremely rev dominant or bowl on a very, very dry condition. I’m not rev dominant, and seldom bowl on very dry conditions, so this is going to line up near the bottom of my bag, likely for use in 5-8 game tournaments that don’t get re-oiled. Overall, I’ve been impressed with the Typhoon and have been a big believer in the A.I. core technology since it was introduced in the Summit in 2023. I really believe that it provides better carry on off hits - even if it’s only in my head. Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 My Specs - Speed - 16 mph, Rev Rate - 315. PAP 5 1/8 x 7/8 Up. Storm Typhoon
Storm Typhoon Layout: 35 x 4 1/4” x 40 Finally, the “Hot” line has returned! The orange and purple Tropical Heat is one of my favorite bowling balls of all time, regardless of price point. The ball motion of the Typhoon definitely reminds me of that bowling ball, just updated. The Typhoon gets through the front part of the lane very easily- much easier than balls such as the Road Warrior or Optimum Idol Pearl, but similar to the Zen 25. The backend motion is strong but not quite flippy, and is a bit less overall than the Zen 25 as well. This ball is right at home on medium-dry lane conditions, though I hit mine with an old 3000 pad and it is now really good on medium patterns.

I've been waiting along time for something like the Storm Heat to come back! Wow the Typhoon nailed it. The typhoon is the Heat with a big upgrade AI technology. Its a lot of ball for the price.

Typhoon
Storm brings back the popular Hot Line with the release of the Typhoon. This new release features the Reactor pearl cover with the Atmos A.I. core. At 15 pounds the Typhoon has a medium RG of 2.53 with a differential of .042. I drilled the Typhoon at 5x5x2 putting the pin above the bridge. The Typhoon with its Power Edge finish, glides easily through the front part of the lane and has a strong continuous motion on the backend. For me it fits in between the Road Warrior and the Electrify line of balls which was released a few years ago. The Road Warrior is about 4 to 5 boards more hook with a much quicker response on the backend, and the Typhoon is about 2-3 boards stronger than the Electrify solid with a much stronger backend motion. This ball is an excellent option for drier league conditions as well as later in tournament blocks when you need a ball to get down the lane, as well as bowlers with lower ball speeds and higher rev rates. Bowlers have been asking for the Hot Line to come back, and Storm listened and delivered another winner!

Storm Typhoon
The Typhoon is the newest medium RG symmetrical pearl in the Storm line. Anecdotally, this one reminds me a lot of the Revenant. Clean, smooth, and a little lopey/slower response overall. This combination is unique to the market because you get the length and downlane motion, but its far more controlled and less sideways. This shape is a great way to battle early friction and calm down quick backends, when you typically have to pick one or the other. This ball has quickly made it into the middle of my bag, it fits just ahead of the Hustle line in a gap that has long-needed to be filled!

Storm Typhoon Ball Review by PJ Haggerty
The newest addition to the Hot line at Storm is the Typhoon. After hearing the news of its development and seeing how the Typhoon was built, it was easy to figure out that this ball is designed for medium-to-lighter oil conditions and/or older surfaces. Our engineers at Storm had the old Tropical Heat ball in mind when designing the Typhoon, and if you remember the Tropical Heat, that ball was excellent. With an RG of 2.53 and differential of .042, that tells us that this ball wants to fly through the front of the lane, still provide some flare, and come off the a spot with a quick response time. I’ve drilled one so far and it rolls great. It’s mapped out as 4.5 x 4.5 x 2. This puts the pin above my ring finger and a stacked CG. After my X-Cell, Ion Max, and Origin are done working hard, the Typhoon is a nice ball to open up my angles and create more shape. With surfaces getting older and rev rates increasing, the Typhoon could be a great addition to your bag. Go drill one! #StormNation

Storm Typhoon
Drilled my Storm Typhoon (4 x 4 x 2). Medium Rev rate and medium speed bowler. The Storm Typhoon is silky smooth through the front part of the lane storing energy to make a strong angular movement coming off the end of the pattern smashing the pins as the Storm Typhoon drives through the pin deck. The Storm Typhoon will be a great ball for lighter oil pattern or after the transition has settled down and the pattern has started to break down. #stormnation #SquadRG #strikingworldwide

Typhoon!
The Typhoon is Storms newest hot line bowling ball. The Typhoon features the Atmos AI core wrapped in Reactor pearl. This creates a motion that perfectly bridges the gap between the Zen 25/!Q Tour and the Hustles/Tropicals. The Typhoon reminds me a lot of the old school Storm reaction. The Typhoon feels almost like a carbon copy of the 2Fast which just so happens to be the first ever Storm ball I drilled! Review Video: https://youtu.be/Jv0YEUa5CXs?si=ROFJJI7ITCqo5TrJ

The new Storm Typhoon features a new core called the Atmo AI that is inspired by the core in the Tropical Heat line. The Reactor cover has been a staple in Storm's cleaner releases and you can count on the Pearl Reactor cover to give you great length on even dry lane conditions. I was excited for this release as the Tropical Heat solid was one of my all time favorite balls. The core/cover combo alway let me stay closer to the friction. The Typhoon gave me just what I hoped for. I tested it first on a fresh house pattern. I started playing right up the track, just letting the ball do the work. The ball is clean and what really sets it apart is it's motion down-lane. Where most cleaner balls now tend to over-react off the friction, causing you to open the angles sooner, the Typhoon gives you an even, continuous roll. With a small change to add some tilt however, it will give you a bit more angle making it very versatile in the window of playing nearer the friction and allowing it to be useful throughout the lane's transition. This ball is a great addition to the bag for anyone who is rev-dominant or struggles to create the ball speed to deal with drier lane conditions. It's also incredibly useful in tournament bags and I'd recommend trying one when the lanes get tough. Natural Disaster
The Typhoon for me is a great ball when the lanes are torn up. The first time I had tested the ball was after 2 shifts of league on a Friday night. The ball got through the front part of the lane with no issue at all and was relatively steady throughout the entire shot. The overall motion I wanted originally was smoother and more controlled, well this ball delivered that.

Further, because the Typhoon is above the entry-level market, it is an excellent choice for those looking to get into the sport of bowling. As a new bowler, you can “grow” into the Typhoon and then build your arsenal around it, making the Typhoon a great first ball. So, let’s take a closer look at how the Typhoon will be a good fit for your arsenal. The Atmos A.I. core brings a smooth and stable motion to the Typhoon. I liked how the Atmos A.I. core generated a good amount of energy as the Typhoon went down the lane. I found the Atmos A.I. Core provided a stable mid-lane motion, yet built a lot of momentum for that core size and shape. And, I have to admit, I was surprised at how the Atmos A.I. core unleashed its stored energy at the pins. The Typhoon hits harder than you would think, as it gave me an explosive reaction through the pins. I would say she A.I. technology surrounding the Atmos Core certainly brings that extra punch we straighter, low rev players like to see and keep us striking. So, I would tell you Storm did a good job developing the Atmos A.I. Core. The Reactor Pearl coverstock gave me a bit of a struggle at the beginning. The factory Power Edge Finish certainly provided a clean look to the Typhoon. Still, I found the Typhoon to be a bit “jumpy” off the pattern for my down and in style. So, I took my Typhoon and started sanding it from 1500-grit Abralon all the way back up to 4000-grit Abralon, to see how the Reactor Pearl would react. And to my surprise, the Typhoon came alive for my game! With this surface change, the Typhoon on a burnt house condition and much drier conditions was smooth, clean, and most of all predictable off the pattern without sacrificing the energy you would normally lose with more surface. So, whether you are a seasoned bowler or a beginner, having the surface adaptability of the Reactor Pearl coverstock, the Typhoon will make a great ball choice that you can tweak to fit your style of bowling and the conditions you want to use it to bowl on. In closing, Storm has done an excellent job of designing the Typhoon. I found the Typhoon a superb choice for down-and-in players like me who need that smooth and consistent motion on drier lane conditions. And for those looking to get into the sport of bowling, the Typhoon is an excellent choice for your first ball as the Atmos A.I. Core and Reactor Pearl coverstock will deliver exceptional results that will help you grow as a bowler! Storm Typhoon
The new addition to the Storm Hot Line is the Storm Typhoon. First off must say the Typhoon has great shelf appeal and great Grape Punch scent. I drilled my Typhoon 4.5 x 4 x 1 3/4 pin up. The Typhoon has the Atmos A.I. Core with the Reactor Pearl coverstock. The Reactor coverstock was used recently on the very successful Tropical Heat series. Which was great low end bowling balls with good mid performance value. The Typhoon is very clean and smooth roll for a .042 diff core. I have used the Typhoon on our wet/dry house shot. Straighter through the fronts was a better reaction for me. As our house shot has a lot of friction to the right. When the Typhoon hits the friction it wasnt sideways but a very strong response to the dry. For me and my unique roll I really need to add some surface to the Typhoon to blend it out a little. The Typhoon has more motion down lane that say a Exponent Solid and is overall stronger than the RG Hustle Series. For me I can see the Typhoon getting used during the 3rd game of league or later blocks in tournaments. Typhoon
The Storm Typhoon and Road Warrior serve very different purposes on the lanes. The Typhoon, with its Reactor™ Pearl coverstock and Atmos™ A.I. symmetric core, is designed for clean motion through the heads with a smooth, controllable backend—perfect for light to medium oil conditions, especially late in league blocks or on dry house shots. In comparison, the Road Warrior features the R2S Deep Pearl cover and Inverted Fe2 A.I. core, making it a bit stronger that the typhoon, I could see these balls being a good 1-2 punch at the end of league nights or late in tournament blocks when the lanes break down. The all new Typhoon is a great option for bowlers who need a go-to piece when their stronger equipment starts to read too early or lose energy. Got to your local VIP proshop today to get yours!

Unleash the Storm within
Storm Typhoon Pattern: 43’ House Shot Layout: 40 x 4 x 40 Finish: Box (Power Edge) The Storm Typhoon marks the return of the “Hot” line but with a more modernized edge. The combination of the Reactor Pearl coverstock and the signature A.I. core technology finished with Power Edge makes this ball deliver even more performance than you’d expect from the original hot line that bowlers have been accustomed to. When throwing this on a typical house shot, it presents length with a strong, controlled motion on the backend. It was a lot stronger than I expected, however, this is a good transition piece. Throwing it on a fresh house shot made it struggle to turn the corner but as the lanes opened up, the Typhoon would come off the spot nice and clean… 10 back! I could see this ball being in play for all styles and all weights. Trevor Kopas Storm Staff Ambassador Pro Shop Operator #Bigboybowling

Storm Typhoon Ball Specs: Atmos A.I. Core with Reactor Reactive Coverstock Cover Finish: Storm Power Edge Layout: 6 x 6 x 1 My updated specs: Rev rate 420’s, ball speed 15.3 to 15.8 mph off the hand, axis tilt of 16 degrees and axis rotation of 70 degrees, PAP is 3 15/16th up 3/16th. Tested on Pro-lane surface on a 44 ft house pattern with lower volume used for the junior and senior leagues, a 44 ft house pattern with larger volume, and patterns that ranged from 33 ft to 39 ft sport patterns. What the Typhoon is all about: While looking into the specs of the recent release to revive the HOT LINE from Storm, I came across the new Atmos A.I. core is derived from the Tropical Surge core that has been around for several years and the core shape reminds me of my MOST favorite Roto Grip ball of all time, the DareDevil. When I saw the core picture, that took me back in time to the 2016-2017 season where I had my best season of all time mainly because of the Roto Grip DareDevils. So I took my current specs, compared them to my specs from 2016-2017 time and laid out the Typhoon with a 6 x 6 x 1 layout to give a similar but stronger backend compared to the DareDevil I used 80 percent of my league matches back then. The overall reaction is a little sharper than the DD but the length downlane is close if not identical. The check-mark reaction is still predictable and the direction change is strong, not as strong as the new Roto Grip Ultimate Wrecker but when hitting the heavier oil in the pattern, the ball does lose some of its “punch” but the drive is still there. A step up from the Tropical Surges and the Hustle lines, the Typhoon fits nicely into all three brands of SPI’s line ups. It's not overlapping anything currently in our lines and it is awesome to see the HOT LINE back and full of power!

Typhoon Review by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson
Ball Specs: Storm Typhoon Coverstock: Reactor™ Pearl Reactive Power Edge Core: Atmos™ A.I. Core (Symmetrical) Color: Royal Purple/Steel Scent: Grape Punch Review: Everyone loves a good mid level pearl bowling ball. This has been a long time coming to say the least as we have not seen a hot line bowling ball since the Electricy a few years back. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). This is a ball that is in play for a long period of time because of its versatility. Changing covers on mid level balls is also very popular for that reason. From what we have seen many people are experiencing great success with taking the power edge off if you experience more of a traditional house shot, or a house shot that puts a lot of volume down. If you loved the Electrify Pearl but need something a bit stronger this is a great compliment. It really does almost give off HyRoad Pearl vibes with similarity and smell, although we know nothing will ever replace that ball. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: I have always been a fan of balls like the Electrify or Match Up and believe the new Typhoon fits into this category. When I tried the new Storm Typhoon, I noticed how this ball did not skid up front on the fresh but still got down the lane very well and had a strong move at the break point. It seemed the Typhoon was revving up but not reading the pattern too early. I really felt like the A.I. core addition aided in the hit of this ball. I struck on some light and high shots that I thought were likely to leave something, but it was nice when everything fell. The pearl cover works great with the Power Edge finish on this ball. The new Typhoon also has a nice grape scent. I would put this ball over my Surge pearl but under my Equinox in total hook. This ball should be a great addition in my line up for when the lanes start to burn up or when faced with a light oil situation. Summary: The Typhoon gets down the lane easy and has great back end motion. This ball hits hard and has great carry. The Typhoon will be a great ball for lighter patterns or high rev bowlers. Typhoon
I drilled the new storm Typhoon 4.5x4.5x1 to give me a pretty strong rolling layout. Out of the box this ball smells amazing and looks amazing. The resurrection of the storm hotline and reactor cover stock from the tropical heats was enough to catch my attention! My first reaction of this ball is it is incredibly clean and slow for a low-end pearl ball. It reminds me a stronger hustle in a way. This ball is prefect for clearing the fronts but still reading the middle and providing enough control to crush the pocket. If you are a fan of the hustle line or tropical surges (midnight and solid purple) then you definitely need to grab one of these to upgrade your bag. 10/10 from me!

Designed for light to medium conditions, Typhoon will be one of the weaker balls in your arsenal. I have found this to be a step down off the IQ AI and will be utilized if I am seeing tons of hook and need to tame the reaction or if I am looking to move back right as this ball will easily clear the front part of the lane without hooking early and provide a controllable shape down lane without overreacting.

Typhoon Review
Layout: 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 2 Surface: 3000 Abralon Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The Storm Typhoon is the first ball back in the Storm Hot Line in about 2 years. A ball reaction that has been missing for those medium oil conditions. The new Typhoon brings the new Atmos AI core paired with the reactor pearl coverstock found currently on the Tropical Surge Line. The core brings a medium RG and Medium differential specs to make this ball most useful for medium to lighter oil conditions. The shape of the Typhoon is very clean with a pretty sharp backend. Ideal for most house conditions where length and angle are most useful. I got to try this on my 44ft typical house pattern. On the fresh and box Power Edge finish, I saw a lot of length for my style even with my higher rev rate. On my house pattern, the Typhoon is not ideal as it tries to create too much angle down lane which gave me that typical over/under reaction. As the lanes started to burn up more, this ball became better as expected. I brought the surface to 3000 abralon to bring the ball's breakpoint a little closer to me and to allow for a little more predictability. This change saw a better overall shape on the lane and gave me more confident in its reaction. On my house pattern, I saw the Typhoon to be most in play in game 3 and/or beyond. Compared to other angular balls in the storm lineup, the Typhoon had me move further right with me my feet due to the weaker coverstock. Generally, I see a lot of over-reaction with angular balls when I move closer to the friction. The Typhoon was a little different here. It was still angular but read the midlane a little stronger giving me the right shape on the lanes. Sometimes I get in the habit of moving too far left with my feet due to the ball I am using in league. This Typhoon will be in my bag as a "just in-case" ball because it allows me to move back to the right more frequently. I recommend the Typhoon to those who bowl on high friction lane surfaces on a house pattern that is not too long in length. I think the ideal conditions for this ball will be in the 38-42ft range for typical house patterns. it would be a nice step down in length from a Phaze AI and Equinox. It does produce a fair amount of angle down lane so the shape is pretty nice who like to see that skid/flip type of ball motion. This ball would also be very good for a longer game tournament on a condition where length and angle is required. Lower rev rates and slower ball speeds will also like this to help the ball get down the lane more especially closer to the friction. Adam Chase Storm Staff
