Hey everyone, I'm back with another ball review, and this time it's for the Storm Summit Peak. In 14 pounds this ball is wrapped in the TX-23 Pearl Coverstock and has the Centripetal HD packed inside the A.I. Core with an RG of 2.46, Diff of .056. The layout for this ball is 5x4.5x1.25 Symmetrical ball with POP! I am really loving what I see from this ball. For me it's a great ball down from the Absolute Power on a THS. I had one drilled pin down, I had it hit it with 500 then 3000. All depends on what you already have in your bag, and you want something a little different. I have an Absolute Power, I wanted something to hook less, I have a Revenant, I wanted something more. Then the awesome Virtual Energy Blackout. So for that I wanted something a little more controllable. With what I had done...it was achieved! Rolls awesome, reads the mid lane and doesn't over react. I really love the Storm Summit Peak. I drilled mine with pin over my fingers. It's a perfect transition ball. The Summit Peak gives me a clean, smooth ball reaction. For me, the Summit is a perfect complement to my 900 Global Sublime. On the house shots conditions, I begin with the Sublime and when it become to miss some punch at the end, I keep the same place and change for the Summit Peak and it give me the backend reaction that I need. The Summit Peak is the newest pearl symmetrical ball from Storm. If you know Storm, you know this is thier bread and butter! The Summit Peak gives me a clean, smooth ball that still tips enough downlane to provided a great transition piece on flatter conditions, while also being a great league ball on most house shots. This ball is the return of a shape we got out of balls like the Axiom Pearl and original Trend, but the latest version uses A.I. core technology. This new Storm tech makes the ball rev up quicker while still keeping its axis and continuing downlane. This combines control and dynamic ball motion in a way we haven't seen from Storm until this year, and the result is a reliable shape that never misses the midlane and also still hooks plenty downlane!

The Summit Peak was one of the first 3 balls I drilled since switching back to 15lbs earlier this month. The factory finish of Reacta Gloss went a smidge longer than my eyes like to see during warm ups and practice time. Similar of pearls released with Reacta Gloss, I took it into the pro shop and put it into the Haus machine and used Vise’s 500 grit pads for 1 minute then applied all new Storm Smooth edge and the reaction in the mid lane and backend became a tick earlier like my eyes like to see. Overall, I was able to play over and around the normal track area at ABC North on the left side of the lanes. I was able to stay between the 2 down lane markers and adjust my starting point to provide consistent shots to the pocket. Only left a few corner pins and one 8 pin, which is much better than my normal carry at ABC North with symmetrical hybrid and pearl balls like the Hyped Pearl, TnT Infused, and Sublime, which are my 1st out of the bag stuff. The Peak has definitely earned a spot in my league bag after using it several different days on fresh and heavily used lanes. The new Master line release is called the Summit Peak. A pearl version of the TX - 23, and advancement of the TX-16 cover featured on the Phaze II, wraps this one up. I tested the Summit Peak in league. The first week I opted to take it out game 3 when my solid balls were seeing to much of the front of the lane. I was pretty surprised with how smooth is ball was. While it is certainly cleaner than the original Summit was, I feel that this core so dominates the motion of this ball, that it tended to tip up pretty fast. Even with the longer pin buffer I opted for, the ball seemed to get forward pretty fast when trying to use it so late. I kept it in play by moving even deeper and really opening my angle up early, getting the ball to bounce off the friction earlier and sort of set at the pocket. It worked well enough for 220 or so but I felt like I was having to really manipulate the reaction to get the ball through the pins. I decided to try throwing the Summit Peak on the fresh the next week. I much preferred it in this role, in spite of its Pearl Cover the ball read the mid-lane very well even on the fresh and controlled the back-end reaction really well. This may not be a typical reaction for bowlers with more ball speed than me, or who bowl in centers where the fronts don't hook so much. I think the summit peak will work out well as a transition ball for bowlers who really liked the original summit. It also makes a good alternative for a first ball out for people like me who want a sort of "solid" reaction from a ball that doesn't necessarily give them the early solid-type read on the lane. Storm Summit Peak Ball Review Layout VLS-5.25x4x2.25 Dual Angle-50x5.25x32 Surface-Storm Reacta Gloss Storm Summit Peak will be a great addition to the master series. It will be a great compliment to the orginal Summit with increased length and a stronger backend motion. So when you feel like the orginal summit or Phaze 2 is reading the lane too early the summit peak will be a great option. Summit peak for me will be a great transition ball when I need more length and a stronger backend motion.

I'm glad Storm elected to go with the pearl version of the Summit as the original was too strong to utilize on most conditions. I have thrown the peak a bunch already and am a fan of what I seen, as I been looking for more versatility for a medium benchmark pearl to utilize when my other balls become too smooth and slow. The peak is the strongest symmetrical pearl in my bag and I will look at this as a step up from the Xponent pearl when I need a stronger mid lane read than the cleaner/angular pearls. I believe this will be a great option for most bowlers to capture that step down off the bigger asymmetrical and symmetrical solids.

Dual Angle Layout: 45 x 4 ½ x 30 Storm Vector Layout: 4 ½ x 3 7/8 x 1 7/8 Summit Peak is another great Symmetrical Pearl from the SPI brand. This ball is super clean and responsive down lane. When you need a ball to get left and know its going to recover then this is the ball for you. On the fresh it was a little too angular for me but when the lanes start to transition, and I have to move left this ball starts to really shine. A great 1-2 combo between the Summit and the Peak.

(14pd) RG: 2.46 Differential: 0.056 Layout: 2 x 6 x 5 - 2LS Layout Extras: 3" Finger Depth, "X" - 4 1/2 D and 1 Inch Left Tester: PAP 6 1/2 R, 1 1/4 D Review: The Storm Summit Peak features the Centripetal HD weight block and is paired with the newer Amplified Inertia outer core. Essentially, this means to the bowler is more length and more motion off the spot compared to one of the all time greats, the Phaze II. Also, compared to the original Summit you can anticipate more length with the Reacta Gloss finish. Something that folks may not be aware of is the RG and Differential values are the same for 14 to 16 pounds in the Summit Peak. For my review, I rolled the Summit Peak at the factory Reacta Gloss finish and also bowled with the Summit at a 3K finish that I prepped four sides with a new Abralon pad. Also, I prepped a Phaze II the same as ^ for comparison purposes. In addition, both the Summit and Phaze II have a 5 x 4 x 4 - 2LS layout. My Summit Peak I changed layout a bit and went with a 2 x 6 x 5 - 2LS and also drilled the fingers a touch deeper to get through the fronts a little bit more on your typical THS patterns. In comparing the Summit Peak to the original Summit and Phaze II I was pleased the Summit Peak went through the front part of the lane a bit easier for me. As a slower two handed player the Summit is more of a higher volume sport pattern ball for me. The Summit Peak OOB Reacta Gloss finish definitely increased length. However, I will take a touch of the finish off with a 3K Abralon pad by hand to smooth the ball out. For me it was a little sensitive to the wet/dry in testing. The plus side is I feel with the layout and surface prep I have a big sym to work with in league. I do feel I need to test my angles more with the Summit Peak as with many big syms angles can get the ball forward quickly. I will say to the eye the A.I. technology does benefit on light hits. I had a few that carried when missing right a touch. Be sure to try out a Storm Summit Peak and fill that gap for fresh league and heavier volume tournament patterns. Summit Peak Layout 4.25x4x4 Ball speed - 15mph Rev rate - 390 This ball is a great step down from the sublime and a huge compliment to the original Summit. With the pearl cover it gets down lane 3-5 feel longer than the Summit, and about 2-4 ft longer than the Sublime. This helps it keeps energy through the pins so well. The Peak is still strong enough to throw on fresher hous shots and does not force me to the friction as much as some other mid level or even weaker balls do. The Peak gives me a more pronounced change of direction off of the pattern than the IQ Ruby allowing me to chase the dry much deeper and still get the corner out consistently. The AI outer core has the Peak hitting the pins very hard as well. For me the AI core gets the ball reving easily off of my hand letting me stay smooth through release and not feeling like I need to grab it to get the ball to Rev up. This lends it's self to much more consistency shot to shot.

Layout: 5 x 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 Surface: Reacta Gloss The Summit Peak brings back the Centripetal HD Core with AI Technology with the new TX-23 Pearl Coverstock. Based on how early and strong the original Summit was, I expected the Peak to be a cleaner and more angular version. It is definitely accurate. Comparing the two balls, I saw about 2-3 feet longer and a more defined ball motion down lane. It still gave me that more controlled look but continues through the pins really well. This ball is predictable yet angular. It reminds me more of the 900 Global Zen as a straight comparison. Compared to the Storm Phaze 5, the Summit Peak is overall stronger and is more continuous. The Peak is strong enough to use potentially on fresh lane conditions and versatile enough to use for 1st and/or 2nd transition. Its more rolly nature can be great on both the right and left hand sides of the lane. So far it has been great for me on lower volume and higher volume house patterns. The Peak will work well for many styles and lane conditions and makes a great step down from the original Summit or Phaze 2.

Fresh 43’ house pattern, Out of Box ball motion was clean through the fronts with a sharp backend reaction. Compared to the Summit, this piece is cleaner through the fronts with a sharper shape on the backend. I also compared this to the Storm Journey (2-2 Right) and Fate (3-3 Right). I am a huge fan of the 900 Global Sublime, I feel that this feeds off of that ball very well, they have similar motion, however, the Summit Peak is more responsive off the friction. I have seen the most success with this ball when I move left and need to loop the lane, it allows me to do so without losing pin carry.
