Storm Summit Bowling Ball

The Summit is Storm’s strongest symmetric ball - a strong ball is a core that spins up early front to back, not necessarily a ball that hooks a lot right to left. Historically, I haven’t gotten along well with balls that roll early - I’ve always preferred shiny pearls and hybrids, I wanted to give the new A.I. (Amplified Inertia) core a chance. The A.I. core is supposed to carry off hits better - and who doesn’t want to carry more! I can’t confirm that it makes a difference, but it definitely feels like it. I drilled the Summit 5 x 4 x 2 1/2. One thing I have noticed about the Summit is that it does lane shine pretty quickly - and that’s not a bad thing, it helps me get the ball a bit further down the lane, but still retains the smooth, controllable motion. The Summit is a very strong symmetrical piece from Storm. I got this ball as a step up from the Phaze 2. After throwing it for a couple weeks, I was extremely pleased with the way the ball reads the mid-lane and its ability to kick out the corners on "off" hits. I think the key with the Summit is adjusting its surface to fit your game. I touched mine with 2000 and finished it with Storm's step 2 to match up with my mid range speed and rev rate. The strongest symmetrical ball to date from Storm. Summit. Featuring a new core (Amplified Inertia) along with the Centripetal weight block, the Summit reads the lane early, often and pounds the pins with authority. With an extremely low RG (2.46) and high differential (.056), this ball is extremely strong and is designed for those conditions with extreme amounts of oil. It has certainly lived up to its hype thus far and I’m impressed. It’s been in my tournament bag since I’ve been able to drill it and its earned a consistent spot for now. I’ve drilled two so far and really like both. The one I’ve had the most success with is mapped out as 5.5 x 4 x 2. This puts the pin just to the left of my bridge along with a kicked CG. Also, I’ve let the lane oil shine the surface, so it looks somewhat shiny, but I wanted to keep the original teeth in the cover so I didn’t use any polish. When the asymmetrical balls don’t look great, the Summit is my go-to. I’ve mainly used it when I’ve had to create some angle and go left-to-right with it, but it’s been perfect for house shots. It’s not too quick off the friction and it picks up in the middle if I miss in. The situation is the same for tournament conditions too. It’s been a staple in my bag. (14pd) RG: 2.46 Differential: 0.056 The new Storm Summit comes with the TX-23 Hybrid coverstock, that is a modernized variation of the beloved TX-14 that is found in the the Phaze II. The core is the Centripetal HD weight block is surrounded by the ALL-NEW A.I. (Amplified Inertia) outer core. With this combination, you get Storm's strongest Symmetrical ball to date. I compare this to both my Reality and Iq Tour, and was pleasantly surprised by the results. It got through the heads, slightly better than the Reality, but very strong in the midlane, and very smooth off the backend. It has similar midlane reaction to the IQ tour, but picks up slightly sooner, with a smoother back end reaction. I am able to throw this on sport and house shots, as it has proven to be very versatile. One of the best attributes I have seen with this ball, is when I would miss right early, rather than it picking up and jumping through the nose, the ball slows down, and makes a smooth transition right to the pocket. Typically with strong symmetrical balls, I have to keep my angles tight, in order to carry a corner pin, with the Summit, I do not. I am able to still open up the lane, with out sacrificing carry, which in turn, lets me stay with the same ball longer. The Summit is going to be a very good ball for some time, so do not hesitate to add this to your arsenal.

I am a higher speed, rev challenged 220-250ish, high tilt, high rotation, and super low track player. I drilled my Storm Summit 5 x 3 x 2 using the Storm VLS and my axis point is 3 ¼ right and 7/8 up. The Storm Summit is a big symmetrical piece that I loved using on medium to heavy oil especially on my sport shot league. It was early and smooth and helped me control the backend and transition. The all new Storm Summit is Storm’s strongest symmetric piece to date, comparable to the Roto Grip TNT. Compared to the TNT, however, I believe that the Summit will be the most user friendly for a variety of players. For me this ball feels a lot more like the Storm Axiom, a ball that was very strong, and versatile both in lane play and on a variety of patterns. For me this ball allows me to move farther left without sacrificing carry compared to the TNT which tends to bog down when I get too far left. The Summit would be a ball that I take out of the bag first on longer/high volume patterns. I tend to like symmetric cores more than asymmetric ones so this ball will fit a spot in my bag that I was missing. My layout is: 5 1/4 x 5 3/8 x 1 3/8 Revrate: 325 AT: 16 The Summit for me was very slow. It looks like my Gem rolling down the lanes, only its symmetrical. Depending on what the lane is giving me, I was able to start a session playing the track area. Carry was above average along this line but as the lanes transitioned, my moves left to find the right amount of head oil allowed me to achieve optimum entry angle. I did want to keep my speed up as slower deliveries quickly read the friction. The Summit can hold its own against any big asym depending on the need. If you have issues matching up with big asymmetrical balls, then this ball should be in your arsenal. For the one ball, one league THB is a must. My Summit fits between my 900G Reality and RG TNT. I drilled my SUMMIT up with a 4 x 4 x 4 pin under layout. I use this layout on pin unders to try to get a smooth transition. I have left it box finish which is 2000 abralon. Initial thoughts were strong but smooth. The SUMMIT was seeing the friction very early but not hopping off it like my other stronger pin up balls like the DNA and GEM were. The SUMMIT is a nice add on for when your big core/big traction balls are seeing the friction early and starting to stop or slow down too much. The SUMMIT also gives the appearance of a nice ball to have another as a compliment. I am going to add a pin up layout in the SUMMIT to go with the one I have already.

Storm Summit is one of the first balls to come out of the bag if there is added volume. This ball is the perfect step down from the big asymmetrical balls once they start to burn up energy.

The Centripetal HD Core and the TX-23 Hybrid Cover gets plenty on traction on higher volume patterns but I was almost able to more left easier with this one than normally. Strong balls with surface usually stop or roll out for me when I move but as long as I closed my angles when I moved left this ball didn’t do that. It’s good on a variety of patterns, sport and house!

I was a big fan of the Axiom, which is similar in RG and differential, but the Summit surpasses the performance of the Axiom. The Summit is cleaner through the front part of the lane and provides a much stronger backend motion than the Axiom. For a low RG ball, this ball just keeps on coming when you must open your angles. The one thing the Summit needs is oil because it flat out hooks!! This ball will smooth out the wet/dry house patterns and will also provide enough traction on the heavier sport patterns

The new Storm Summit is one of the strongest symmetricals to date. Featuring the TX-23 Hybrid Coverstock along with the Centripetal HD core. One thing special about this piece though is the addition of the AI (Amplified Inertia) outer core. This combo helps the RG lower while raising the differential. Overall, the oil absorption is increased and with the outer core, it gives the ball an increased ability of going through the pins better and stronger. Since it is a hybrid, it does not burn up as I thought it may at times but still cuts through the pattern and continues nicely through the pins. I have used this ball mainly on patterns ranging from 37ft to 44ft and I am impressed. Almost anything I want the ball to do, it does. I have been testing to making the ball shiny too as I have seen others have success like this as well. While the motion is still good, I prefer mine still at the box finish (3000). It closely reminds me of the Phaze2 but I compared mine in the video linked below to the TNT, which proved to be much cleaner and not as strong overall. Hey everyone, I'm back with another ball review, and this time it's for the Storm Summit! In 15 pounds this ball is wrapped in the TX-23 Hybrid Coverstock and comes with 3000 abaron and an RG of 2.46, Diff of .056. So what do we have here…. This ball is the strongest symmetric to date and has been compared to a stronger Phaze 2 and what a compliment that is. Now that I have thrown this ball I have found it very strong and as I have said in other reviews being more speed than rev dominant I have found this ball to look best going straight down the track. I have thrown it against the 900 Global Zen Gold Label and had to move right as the Zen GL is a shiny pearl with React Gloss. I see this ball being great on the fresh and after some lane shine can be the ball you can bowl all three games of league with. The Summit surprised me. Looking at the Low RG. And Extremely High Diff. before drilling, I can’t believe the ball still motions down lane. The .056 Diff in the Summit allows for huge angles through the front of the lane with a reassurance that the ball will make it back to the pocket and still carry. It reminds me of a continuous Asymmetric ball which I like. I used a layout to slightly lower the diff by having the pin in my ring finger (5 ½ x 4 x 3 ½). I knew by design this ball was going to have a lot of hook potential and I typically bowl better with balls that hook less, so I wanted to make sure this ball had a good amount of play when I’m bowling in local tournaments. Shinning the cover does help, but I recommend through it first before changing the cover.

The nice thing is it’s the same reactive cover formula as the Phaze 2, one of the goat balls but this time the Summit cover is the TX-23 Hybrid. It’s definitely a little cleaner than our biggest covers meaning it can handle the volume and has NO problem hooking. The Summit features the Centripetal HD weight block with the AI outer core which helps create this very unique ball motion. The is the best addition the Master line we’ve seen in some time. I feel like I can use the Summit on typical house patterns as well and some of the heavier blended tougher patterns. The Summit HOOOKS tho, so you better have some volume! If you loved the Phaze 2 and want an earlier and smoother shape, go with the Summit!

I was super excited to get this ball with the new A.I. (Amplified Inertia) outer core, and wow was I not disappointed! This ball is now the first out of the bag, no matter what the conditions. The Summit is very clean and smooth through the heads. With the low RG and the higher differential, the ball picks up perfectly midlane and is strong and continuous through the back end. This ball will definitely work great for all bowlers of various styles. I dropped weight a while ago to 14lbs and have been worried about carry ever since. This is definitely no longer a concern. For me the ball moves and hits just as hard as the 15lb balls I see on the lanes.

Paired with the TX-23 Hybrid Cover, the Summit provides enhanced oil absorption for even better grip on those slick conditions. Which in turn gives you the bowler the ability to open up the lanes more I did a ball comparison to the 900 Global Zen Master, Storm Absolute and the 900 Global Reality Check at 42 ft house shot, 25 ml of oil. The layout chosen 35 x 4 3/4 x 15. In comparison to the 900 Global Zen Master, the Summit starts up quicker and is more aggressive off the spot verses the Zen Master that’s a pinch cleaner and more rounded off the spot. Through the shots you will see how the Summit and the Zen Master are very similar even going 5 and 3 left they both keep up with each other. It wasn’t until I went deep inside where the Summit out hooked the Zen Master. In comparison to the Storm Absolute, The Summit starts up quicker and overall hooks way more. The Absolute has a R2S Deep Hybrid cover with a similar RG of 2.48 verses a 2.46 of the Summit and a lower differential of 0.050 verses a 0.056 so in retrospect of numbers the Absolute should hook more but the TX-23 cover is a lot higher on the strength scale verses R2S an in turn hooks more. In comparison to the 900 Global Reality Check, the Summit also starts up quicker and stronger off the spot. The Reality Check is a much cleaner option even being an asymmetric ball with a more rounder shape verses the Summit with a more sharper shape that climbs the hill much stronger on the heavier conditions. As per the surface adjustments, the Summit at box surface is 3000 grit which will be strong a continuous and round off the spot At 2,000 Polish the ball will go a little longer and sharper off the spot In the bag, will be the Reality, Eternity, Summit, Dark Code, IQ Ruby

The Summit is the newest addition to the Storm line and for the little bit that I have thrown it so far, I can tell that this will be my go to before the Phaze II for a long time. For me, it provides a little more mid lane read with a stronger transition down lane. This allows me to use it on fresher conditions, after big asym balls like the DNA begin to burn up. I could also see this ball being a good option when polished for when the Phaze II begins to die down lane. I find this piece for interchangeable when it comes to where it could be slotted in the bag. I would recommend this ball to anyone that is looking for a good step up from the Phaze II. The Storm Summit has been dubbed the strongest symmetric ball ever to have been produced in Utah. The Summit features a core that has striking resemblance to the Marvel series core, but it is wrapped in the new AI core technology. On the outside, the Summit is wrapped in a unique color combination of the new TX-23 hybrid cover, which is an updated hybrid version of the cover on the Phase 2. I drilled my Summit 4.75x4x4 2LS to get a strong benchmark shape out of it. For myself, this ball was a lot earlier than anticipated given it is a hybrid and hooked quite a bit. While it has been something that has not completely matched up to my game, I see this being incredibly successful for speed dominant or low rev players that struggle to see a ball pick up on the lane soon enough. This ball goes through the pins very well and is already one of the top selling balls on the market. I went with a shorter pin buffer to help the response down lane. Lets just say this ball is very strong for a symmetrical. I put a little step 2 on mine and bowled on 45ft Dick Weber pattern, The summit allowed me to control the pocket, and carry well. Its very hard to throw the Summit through the breakpoint which is a good feeling. The Summit is just different especially on off hits. Even since I switched to 14lb because of a bad knee, usually I like to throw the bigger asymmetricals but the Summit is plenty strong enough to go through the pins. I've thrown this ball for a bit now. It overall is a steaple part in my bag. When I first drilled it my intensions were to be the big strong roll ball in my bag. When I need a ball to blend the over under well, this is my go to ball. If you have an IQ tour, much stronger roll, close to same motion. The new core design suprisingly keeps the pins low and moving! You can feel the sense of power this ball creates at the deck. My own personal down side, the yellow is a color my eye isn't too fond of, If you have a fairly wet or over under lane conditions, this ball eliminates that.
