Storm Road Warrior review by Lonnie Pemberton
TESTING ENVIRONMENT Length:43 Volume: Med-High Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):THS Coverstock: R2S DEEP Pearl Core: Inverted Fe² A.I. Core Finish: Power Edge RG: 2.55 (#15) Differential: 0.045 (#15) ME: Right-Handed Tweener Speed: 12-13 mph Rev Rate: 315 Axis Tilt: 14° Axis Rotation: 74° PAP: 5 1/8 R 7/8 Up Ball Layout: Pin Up 5 X 5 X 2 1/2 VLS Long awaited new addition to the Storm Thunder Line is finally here. The Road Warrior features a pearl version of the super clean R2S Deep cover that was featured on the Absolute and absolute power. This time the engine in the ball is the legendary Fe2 core enhanced with A.I. (Amplified Intertia) technology. The result is a clean angular and incredibly forgiving shape. I tested the Road Warrior in League. I waited until game 3 when I really got pushed left. My hope was that the Road Warrior would work as a Hy-Road Pearl Replacement. Sure enough when I had to cover boards the Road Warrior gave me the the length and hook I needed. To the eye it is a slightly earlier and a little rounder than the Hy-Road pearl. I had expected this as it's the difference I normally see with the A.I. version of cores. The difference was much less pronounced than in other balls, I believe because of the cleaner R2S Deep cover on the Road Warrior. Because my greatest need was for a ball to throw on the driest conditons that's where I was most interested in seeing the reaction of the Road Warrior. Too far left was not an issue I ever ran into throwing the Road Warrior. I did also throw the Road Warrior on a fresher condition later in the week. I obviously had to be much closer to the friction, but I was surprised at how useful it was on the fresh conditon. Responsive balls can be pretty over-under when the lanes are fresh here but the Road Warrior was a little smoother seeing the earlier friction so the over-reaction wasn't as pronounced as I was used to seeing with balls like the Hy-Road. The Road Warrior definitely fills a gap that needed to be filled. This ball is incredible when you need to see the ball hook down-lane and its so clean that it really combats the early friction. I think this ball is going to be a must-have for any one who sees to much friction develop as they bowl and especially invaluable for anyone who bowls longer format tournaments. Very Nice Ball for drier lanes!
The Road leads to this new Warrior! This ball rolls so well. I normally adjust the surface on a bowling ball out of the box, but Storm is breaking the surface! I kept this one out of the box. For me, yes Light/ Medium oil. I also bowl in a bowling alley with wood lanes and this ball rolls very good there. Then even on synthetic lanes, if you need a straighter ball, A ball to go through the mid lane burn, and still react on the back ends, this is the ball. I'm really happy to see this ball roll, happy to read it on the lanes and happy to learn off it.

With the Hy-Road pearl being discontinued this was a ball that was missing from the lineup. It was designed to be a dependable and versatile ball that can help bowlers of all styles conquer dryer conditions. The Road Warrior debuts the R2S Deep pearl coverstock with the proven Inverted Fe² weight block enhanced with A.I. core. The pearl cover with Power Edge is clean through the fronts and helps save up plenty of energy to create a powerful backend reaction. The Road Warrior gave me a good look sliding on 27, looking 16 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 7-8. As the lanes transitioned and I moved left, it continued to look great. When compared to The Road, the Warrior is a couple boards stronger and is much more continuous. The Road Warrior may not be the first ball out of my bag for league or tournaments, but I can see it coming into play once stronger balls struggle to take out the corner pins. Storm Road Warrior
Road Warrior is going to be the absolute replacement for the iconic Hy Road Pearl. With the Inverted FE2 AI core and R2S Deep Pearl cover this ball makes a similar motion as the Hy Road Pearl but maybe a couple of feet sooner. I drilled mine 4.5 x 4.5 and I absolutely love this ball when the left side gets fried. It really allows me to either stay on top of it longer or even open my angles up and watch it hook down lane. This ball will an absolute hit later in blocks when you need something to really get through the front half of the lane. If you want to replace your Hy Road Pearl or just looking for direct replacement than look no farther.

For me this isn't the first ball out of the bag, but after a game or two and the spot is blown up I find this the perfect match up. This will allow me to stay near or at least close enough to the track without having to give up the pocket. I find this ball to be good for those starting out or need a little more punch down lane. For the advanced players this will be the ball you want in tha tournament bag. No matter if the heads go away or the backends are hooked too much this ball will help you stay in play. Storm Road Warrior
Thnk Hyroad Pearl, but on steroids. This was my first impression of the new Storm bowling Road Warrior. The core of this ball is the prove FE2 AI core and this ball is wrapped in R2S Deep Cover. The colors that were used on this ball really pop as well. The first thing that struck me about the Road Warrior is its impressive ability to handle a wide range of lane conditions. Whether I was dealing with heavy oil or lighter conditions, the ball performed exceptionally well, providing consistent hook potential and a smooth transition through the backend. For me, this was everything that I loved in the Hyroad pearl, only much better. What I appreciate most about the Road Warrior is its versatility. It performs well across various styles, whether you're a straight bowler or someone who prefers a more aggressive hook. The adaptability makes it a fantastic choice for league play, or tournaments. While this a ball can be used on the fresh, this ball for me excels later in the day where I have to get the ball through the fronts. The cover makes this ball glide, but I have no doubts the ball will come off the spot strong, allowing me to be confident when throwing it away from me. The Storm Bowling Road Warrior has solidified its place in my bowling bag. If you're looking for a bowling ball that excels on a variety of lane conditions while still offering style and comfort, the Road Warrior is an excellent choice. Dual Angle Layout: 60 x 5 x 25 Storm Vector Layout: 5 x 4 ¾ x 1 3/4 The Road Warrior features the R2S Deep Pearl Reactive cover stock wrapped around the Inverted FE2 A.I. Core. This ball is super clean through the heads but really packs a punch on the backend. I was hoping this ball would replace my lightning black out at the bottom of the bag but its just too strong for that. The ball has been my go-to ball down in late game 2. The new smooth edge polish just makes this ball stronger.

Game 3 Savior
The Road Warrior was a ball that I specifically wanted for game 3 or when there was a lot of traffic on the right side. It has shown me that it is predictable and reliable down lane. This ball also has worked great for me on shorter patterns where I normally struggle. This ball has found a place in my tournament bag and it is my savior for league if the lanes get that bad.

Storm Road Warrior by Casey Murphy
Orientation: Right Handed Rev Rate: 400 RPM Speed: 16-17 MPH PAP: 4 ½ over and 1 1/8 up Location: Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO Pattern: High Volume THS VLS Layout: Layout 1: 4 5/8 x 4 x 2 ½ (Pin above bridge) Layout 2: 4 ¼ x 4 x 4 (pin below bridge) The new Road Warrior is a pearl version of the Road. I was just 50/50 on the OG Road. It was a little confusing due to the stronger Hybrid cover. Sometimes it wanted to stay on line and sometimes it wanted to hook early. It had its times but I could never quite dial it in. The Road Warrior solves that problem. It’s a little weaker pearl cover and that dials in the reaction perfectly! It get’s plenty of length, but I would NOT call it a comp to a HyRoad Pearl. Its much stronger than a HyRoad Pearl, which is good because since weight holes went away I haven’t been able to throw my HyRoad Pearls as much because they’re too clean. The Road Warrior feels more like a cross between a Wrecker and a Hyroad Pearl. The result is a rollier, while still angular and clean. It’s a VERY unique shape. Storm does it again!

Road Warrior Review
The Road Warrior is Storm's newest "Road" ball to date, and it's a good one!! It is the predecessor of the legendary HyRoad Pearl. With the Inverted FE Core found in the Road, along with the Deep RS2 Pearl Coverstock and Power Edge finish, the Road Warrior is designed to keep dry lanes in check and be cleaner in the fronts, yielding more energy and more angle through the pins. I drilled mine at 50 x 5 x 35. Testing it on a 42ft league pattern at Fishkill Bowl in Fishkill, NY, the Road Warrior had quite the impression I was looking for. With a weaker cover stock, the ball was clean as expected, going through the fronts and midlane, resulting to a longer read and down lane motion. I found the Road Warrior to fit in my bag in between the Phaze AI and Optimum Idol Pearl. The Phaze AI had more angle, whereas the Idol Pearl was a level below the Road Warrior with a smoother finish. The Road Warrior would be much preferred for when the lanes are on the high friction side, a game 2-3 ball during leagues and late blocks during tournament play. Be sure to stop by your local pro shop and drill up a Road Warrior today!! Thomas Coco (storm staffer)

As a fan of the recent discontinued Hyroad Pearl, the Road Warrior with the new PowerEdge and AI is more than a comparable replacement!! I went with a longer tall pin with a 5-1/4” pin to PAP and 2-1/4” buffer specifically for toasted, late block lanes where I need to stand way left and get the ball right. Compared to the Hyroad Pearl, this one is earlier not surprising with the PowerEdge aggressive polish on the cover. This is a must to have for those lengthy tournament blocks when you’re needing to keep the strikes a coming from deep inside. The peppermint scent is a nice calming aroma therapy to boot ? Road Warrior
A pearl Hy-Road RETURNS!! This take on the timeless favorite features R2S DEEP Pearl and the same great Inverted FE weight block, only this time with A.I. core technology. The result feels like a Hy-Road Pearl with a slightly stronger/smoother cover that can handle more oil than the original, while still being clean and never reading the front part of the lane. The A.I. core also lends itself to smoother ball motion and a longer hook phase. Practically, this ball is a way more useable version of the original Hy-Road Pearl for me. It flares a bit more, continues longer and revs up a tick earlier. This version of R2S DEEP Pearl feels stronger/more capable of handling oil than R2S Pearl, which makes this more of a medium-strength ball and less of a super weak/clean ball for me. You don't want to miss this Hy Road Pearl 2.0! -Chase Valenzuela

I threw this on a fresh house pattern. Out of Box ball motion was clean through the fronts with a sharp continuous backend through the pins. I compared this piece to the Lightning Blackout & Hy-Road. Lightning Blackout was 2-2 Right. Started earlier in the mids but not as sharp on the back end as the Road Warrior. Hy-Road was 3-3 Right but a smoother shape on the backend. This will be a good piece to go to when the front part of the lanes starts to dry up. If you are looking for a medium price point piece this would be good to have in your bag. The Road Warrior!
Road Warrior • Storm • Thunder Series Coverstock • R2S Deep Pearl • Finish Power Edge Core • Inverted FE2 -A. I. Core Weight • 15 lbs. RG • 2.55 Differential • .045 Layout • 4 ½ x 5 x 1 ¾ Tester PAP • 5” R, 5/8” D Tester Axis Tilt • 9° Testers Rev Rate • 250 Test Pattern • 42’ THS (Typical House Shot) • Modified, Kegel Stone Street Storm continues to elevate the success of their “Road” series with the release of the Road Warrior. The Road Warrior combines the Inverted FE2’s Core proven reliability and Storm’s ground-breaking A.I. technology, all wrapped with the next-generation R2S Deep Pearl coverstock. And leave it to Storm to mix all these ingredients and produce the next generation of excellence in the Road Series. So, let’s take a closer look at what makes the Road Warrior an excellent choice for your arsenal. The Inverted FE2 has always been a smooth and well-balanced core that has given us straighter players the predictability we have come to depend on from the Road Series. And now, inside the Road Warrior, you get the same legendary, well-balanced motion of the Inverted FE2 core. Plus, you also get the dynamic shape and strength that A.I. Technology brings to the SPI family of bowling balls. I like how the Inverted FE2-A.I. Core rev’s in the mid-lane without sacrificing energy because of my slower rev rate. I also like how the Inverted FE2-A.I. core provided a consistent motion regardless of where I was rolling the Road Warrior on the lane. I was also highly impressed at how the A.I. technology brought a vibrant, well-defined motion off the pattern, giving my straighter game the consistency I like to see. Lastly, I liked the added punch and power the A.I. technology gave my Road Warrior because, with that extra energy and continuation, I could carry those lighter, softer hits that would typically leave me with a single-pin spare to shoot. So, it is easy to see how the Inverted FE2-A.I. Core is an excellent choice for any straighter player. The R2S Deep Pearl Reactive with the Power Edge factory finish initially gave me a bit of a struggle. For my straighter game, I found the factory surface didn’t allow the Road Warrior to bite in the mid-lane where I needed it to, and I had a hard time making the hill. However, when I took my Road Warrior to 1500-grit Abralon and followed that up with Storm’s new Power Edge polish, my Road Warrior lit up the lanes for my low-rev, straighter hand. I found that the surface change of the R2S Deep Pearl coverstock brought excellent consistency and traction in later-night conditions. I especially liked how the R2S Deep Pearl gripped well along the shim line as the night progressed. The R2S Deep Pearl allows the Road Warrior to conserve energy. And I like how that conserved energy allowed the Inverted FE2-A.I. core to deliver a robust sweeping motion at the pocket we straighter players want to see. So, I found that, overall, with the correct surface adjustment to fit your game, the R2S Deep Pearl will deliver results for any straighter player’s game. In conclusion, the new Road Warrior by Storm is an excellent fit for any straighter player’s arsenal. Whether stand-alone for a new bowler looking for a more vigorous motion than they get from a level one ball or a seasoned bowler looking to compliment their more aggressive arsenal, the Road Warrior is a good fit. And if you are an owner of the original Hy-Road, put the Road Warrior alongside it and enjoy the results of a “Road” arsenal one-two punch! Road Warrior Review by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson
Ball Specs: Storm Road Warrior Coverstock: R2S DEEP™ Pearl Reactive with Power Edge Core: Inverted Fe2™ A.I. Core (Symmetrical) Color: Sapphire/Steel Review: You have to pay a lot of respect to any ball in the “road” line. It is partly what helped build the Storm brand to what it is today. Throw this ball and you will quickly understand why they call it the road warrior. This is one of those pieces that is a must have, one of those pieces that is always there when you’re left with little to no options as the day goes on. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). We actually didn’t expect this ball to look that great on the fresh but since we are a higher friction house it could be an option for higher rev players. For those lower rev players however it may not be enough for the first couple games of a typical house shot. For the average player this ball will come in handy once the fronts get a little beat up or especially when the lanes fully break down in a tournament past games 3 or 4. I am sure you will be seeing this in a lot of tournament bags. Must have! Road Warrior
Storm Road Warrior Coverstock: R2S Deep Pearl Finish: Power Edge Core: Inverted Fe² Powered by A.I. (14 pd) RG: 2.55 Differential: 0.045 Layout: 5 x 4 x 3 1/2 - 2LS Layout Extras: 2 1/8 Finger Depth, "X" - 4 1/2 D and 1 Inch Left Tester: PAP 6 1/2 R, 1 1/4 D Review: The Road Warrior features the newer Amplfied Inertia core technology. This core as you would expect will help The Road Warrior in providing a predictable shape at the end of the pattern. As A.I. core technology has been previously tested that means a few extra percentage points of carry can be anticipated. For my review I compared the Road Warrior to The Road. For me, the Road Warrior cover/core combination is much better than The Road. Although The Road for me worked well at times, the stronger REX coverstock tended to burn up energy and I would leave a few too many single pins. The Road Warrior using R2S Deep is a pleasant add to this ball. If you recall, the Absolute Power has an R2S Deep base as well. The Road Warrior bonus is that it is finished with Power Edge compared to Reacta Gloss. On The Road the Reacta Gloss had to be scuffed off a bit or the ball would tend to hit a touch weak. The Road Warrior during its initial testing is a world of difference in terms of great balance in length and continuation. I am pleasantly surprised how the OOB finish looks on the Road Warrior and will test even further before changing the surface. The Road Warrior will fit well for your medium type THS patterns. I recommend if you have/had The Road or a Night Road you'll be fine refreshing your arsenal with a Road Warrior. SPI has really upgraded the middle of the arsenal with the Road Warrior. I'm definitely excited about this ball from Storm. Please be sure to visit your favorite pro shop today or https://youtube.com/channel/UC1VA-MgFBo9mIZde-G3T11A for my occasional ball videos. Road Warrior Review
Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 4 Surface: Power Edge The Road Warrior brings back the Inverted FE AI Core along with the R2S Deep Pearl coverstock which has never been seen on a domestic ball to date. The AI of this The Road warrior is the predecessor to the Hyroad Pearl and has a lot of high expectations. The Road Warrior brings back the Inferted AI Fe core found in The Road along with the R2S Deep Pearl coverstock which has not been used yet stateside. The Road Warrior provides a lot of length very similar to the Hyroad Pearl but reads the midlane stronger due to the AI core. Even though the coverstock is in fact weaker, the core allows the ball to still read the body of the lane well. The combination of the core and cover really matches up with this ball. On my 44ft typical house shot, I felt that I didn't need as much dry on the lanes for the ball on the lanes. It was clean as I expected but got into the roll phaze faster than I anticipated which I feel is great for my style. The Road Warrior will be great as a later transition ball due to the clean characteristics of it. Those who have lower tilt or slow ball speed on higher friction lanes, will really enjoy the Road Warrior. It probably won't be ideal on the fresh especially with the power edge finish. Bringing the surface down without the power edge will bring the hook closer to you and make it a little more useful for fresh. I would choose The Road more often on the fresh as the coverstock is stronger and more rolly overall. What i do enjoy about this ball is the ease to open the lanes up and creating more down lane hook. This ball creates a lot of angle down lane making it ideal to play the inside part of the lane. This ball would be most ideal to be paired with The Road or a step down from the Phaze AI. Adam Chase Storm Staff

Storm Road Warrior
I drilled the new Storm Road Warrior 5x4.5x2 using the vls system. I drilled this ball to give me some length while still retaining energy for the end of the pattern. This ball has the R2S Deep pearl coverstock paired with the Inverted Fe Ai weight block. I dont think a match up in storm lineup can be more iconic! This ball gives you a slightly cleaner motion compared to The Road from earlier this year. Bowling on 43ft I saw this ball cut through the front part of the lane nicely. Im not sure if this ball will see much league action from me, but this will for sure be in the tournament bag. Me personally I have this ball slotted in the 5 spot in a 6-ball arsenal. I highly recommend picking one of these up on November 22nd!

Burn Master
The BURN MASTER! If your looking for a ball for when the fronts go, is clean through the midlane and ALL BACKEND. THIS IS THE BALL FOR YOU! Sometimes with stronger symmetrical pearls they hook too soon and roll more like their solid counterparts. Not this ball. This is the ideal tournament ball for game 6-8, if your house has a lot of friction or if the pattern tends to get cliffed by game 3 of league. This ball is one that will stay in your bag for a long time and get you out of trouble when your bigger balls start burning up and getting to early!

Road Warrior
The Storm Road Warrior is an exciting upgrade in the Road series, offering enhanced versatility over both the original The Road and the Hy-road. Featuring the R2S DEEP Pearl coverstock, the Road Warrior provides more length and sharper backend motion than The Road, which is smoother and more consistent across a wider range of conditions. Compared to the Hy-road, the Road Warrior delivers a more aggressive finish, making it a better choice for bowlers looking for more backend punch and sharper angles, especially on dry to medium oil conditions. The Road Warrior offers more dynamic motion and greater versatility for a wider range of conditions. Go to your local SPI proshop and pick yours up on November 22nd!
