The Lab Series is the future of exclusive bowling ball performance. Built in a lab where possibilities are endless, and innovation is the only acceptable outcome. The Level is the first ball in the new Lab Series. Each product in the Lab Series represents countless hours of experimentation, refinement, and the use of groundbreaking materials. The goal of the Lab Series is to explore chemistry and weight block paths never pursued before in order to give bowlers ball reaction that is completely different from anything seen in the industry. The Lab Series is not limited to a specific type of ball reaction. Some of the earliest and smoothest directions will be explored in the Lab Series as well as some of the latest and most angular paths. Bowlers will find the Lab Series is for those who understand that excellence has no ceiling, who recognize that true innovation comes at a premium. These products are created without compromise, designed for bowlers who demand the absolute top of performance.

Wrapped around the new Level is a new coverstock material that has physical properties never seen before in the bowling industry. This makes the Level a great choice when consistent, continuous, predictable ball motion is needed.

Storm displays its versatility in this release. This ball is something new to there already successful lines of equipment. Using the SPI Lab, Storm was able to create a nice blend of core and cover to create a perfect mimic of urethane reaction in the Level. I would highly recommend this ball for Sport conditions and even house shot if you’re looking for something a little weaker for your arsenal.

Layout: 4 x 4 x 1.5 Surface: 1000 Abralon Tilt: 13* Rotation: 60* RPM: 470 The new Level is a brand-new design in the newly formed Storm Lab Series. The Level was designed to mimic a urethane-like shape while being completely resin. The new Equalizer AI Core was designed to have a high RG and low differential just like traditional urethane cores. The coverstock is the new RPM (Regenerative Polymer Matrix) cover which is designed to be predictable and keep its surface finish for a longer period of time. I got to test this ball on my 44ft Typical House Pattern and a 40ft Sport Pattern. On the House Pattern, the Level gave me early hook and a continuous ball reaction in the back part of the lane. Unlike more traditional pieces, the Level gave me a consistent backend motion that did not stop because of the lower volume of oil. I was able to use the ball on the fresh more up the lane in order to tame the backend down where the lanes wanted to over hook with normal resin. Due to my higher rev rate, the lanes broke down a little quicker than I anticipated, and I had to put the ball back down after about 6 frames of use. For game 2, I went back to normal resin and opened up the lane like I traditionally would. In this instance, the level gave more of that urethane feel where the differential is too low to give enough of a pop down lane. In game 3 where the lanes became wet/dry, the Level was great once again. I was able to move back to the right and closer to the friction and go back up the lane once again. The low differential here actually helped the ball get through the front while the continuation of the ball gave me ample room left and right of target. On the 40ft sport pattern, I saw more urethane-like ball reaction. It gave me early roll and control at the back part of the lane. Compared to the IQ 78U, I did see more continuation down lane while giving that early hook we expect with urethane. When the lanes are challenging, this level certainly is the answer. The Level is more forgiving down lane while still reading the pattern very well. It has consistent motion without losing its dull surface. This ball would be best used for medium to shorter lane conditions where straighter ball motion makes the most sense. While it does give more left to right motion then traditional urethane, it was more successful with straighter angles through the front of the lane. In conclusion, The Level is a really nice step between urethane and resin balls. It gives the early motion of urethane while giving more distinct continuation like resin. I would recommend this ball to bowlers who like to use urethane but don't like how urethane breaks the lanes down, bowlers who are looking for a fresh option on medium to shorter length conditions or those looking to control those wet/dry house conditions. Dual Angle Layout: 55 x 5 x 25 Storm Vector Layout: 5 x 4 3/8 x 1 ¾ The Level features an all-new cover stock material, the RPM (Regenerative Polymer Matrix), which is wrapped around the Equalizer AI Core. This ball, in my opinion, is the Storm equivalent to the Hammer NU Blue. This ball is the perfect bridge between Urethane and Reactive. As someone who struggles to throw Urethane, this ball is exactly what I needed. When most bowlers are throwing Urethane, I’ll be throwing my Level with similar results. I tried my Level on a few different house shots and the ball seemed to check very early, which is to be expected from a Urethane alternative. If you’re like me and do not seem to have the revs for urethane then look no further than the Level.

It's a new Level in bowling technology! I have a Storm 78 Urethane, It's a Level above that! I had my Level drilled to hook. Itrolls so well in my hand. I can't really say its a "league" ball for me, but its a fun ball for sure. I average 220's about 14mph, It leaves a lot of 9 counts for me playing more straighter up and in. If the shot gets a little tuff, at least I have this ball to fall back on, I know how it reacts, I know how it rolls. Sport patterns, when the league shot gets a little cliffed, over / under reaction, it is a ball to grab to get a grip on the shot. It's just amazing what Storm has done with the new technology. The ball smells pretty good also!

Right handed 235 Average 17mph 350 rev rate The Storm Level utilizes a brand new cover technology and a new core. This combination will give you and early rolling balls, but you still have some downlane motion. The new cover absorbs oil quickly, so you won’t see carry down like you will with traditional urethane. For me, I drilled this ball for my sport shot league where I need to manage the lane from front to back. I have liked what I have seen on shorter patterns. I have used it in my house shot leagues, but I find I do not have the area that I can create with other balls, which is fine as I did not drill it for house shots. I recommend using a higher flare layout so you get fresh cover with every revolution.

The Level is Storms first ball released in the Lab series. The Level features the RPM cover wrapped around the Equalizer AI core. The RPM cover is marketed to be the fastest absorption cover that Storm currently offers. The RPM cover combined with the Equalizer AI core provides a very early, stable and controlled piece for shorter and flatter oil patterns. The Level for me will be a great option when I need a little more traction than my Pitch Black but balls like the Harsh Reality and Physix Blackout are too strong. The Level is now available in all Storm VIP pro shops! Review Video: https://youtu.be/vAaLwVC3Ht8?si=k3xwyedev4UvzD86

Ball Specs: Storm Level Coverstock: RPM™ Solid Reactive 1000-Grit Abralon Core: Equalizer™ A.I. Core (Symmetrical) Color: Black Scent: Grapple Review: New ball, new line, new cover, new core. The first “LAB” series bowling ball is here and it has some major shelf appeal with the matte black finish and a futuristic white trimmed out logo. This new ball is “not urethane” but has urethane shape characteristics with the hitting power of a reactive ball. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). Compared to the Pitch Black the Level is stronger overall, picking up about the same length down lane. The biggest noticeable difference besides stronger motion is the power through the pins. A major issue with the average league bowler is their rev rate does not match the tour professionals… so when they see that urethane ball on TV carrying the corners and don’t experience the same hitting power it is a little bit of a let down. The Level helps solve this problem. For lower speed players or players who like that urethane shape, who also need that extra hitting power this is the piece. We are excited to see this on tour and in the hands of league bowlers who have a new tool in their bag that is unlike any other. The Level is the first release in Storm's all-new Lab Series, an Elite Series designed to bring excellence and absolute top performance to a player's game. And I will tell you the Level lives up to all Storm claims it to be. From the all-new Equalizer A.I. Core to the revolutionary RPM (Regenerative Polymer Matrix) Coverstock, the Level was terrific. So, let's take a closer look at what makes the Level so successful! The Equalizer A.I. Core has an all-new type of design. Without getting into the technical jargon, I will tell you the Equalizer Core has an exceptionally smooth and predictable motion through all three phases of ball motion, i.e., skid, hook, and roll. Further, rather than seeing the temperamental jumps and squirrelly motion straighter players like me tend to see as the pattern breaks down, I liked how the Equalizer A.I. Core was continuous and steady when it found friction, providing me a predicable angular motion I could depend on, especially in late night conditions. Lastly, there is no doubt that the A.I. Core technology added to the Equalizer makes the Level deliver a hard striking blow and provides the continuation I depend on as a straighter player. As a straighter player, coverstock and surface can make or break a night of bowling for me. However, with the all-new RPM (Regenerative Polymer Matrix) coverstock found on the Level, Storm has changed how I look at coverstock and surface. The RPM coverstock blends the lanes beautifully in all types of conditions. I especially like how the RPM Coverstock weaves its way through broken-down and worn-out THS conditions with a smooth and effortless motion. Further, as a straighter player, I usually find myself in a nightmare when I come across urethane on the lanes. However, with the RPM Coverstock found on the Level, I enjoyed blending through the push and carry-down caused by urethane and still maintaining my line without losing power at the pocket. That makes the RPM Coverstock a unique solid-reactive cover that certainly is a game-changer for straighter players like me. The 1000-grit Abralon surface on the Level is an excellent fit for straighter players looking to bowl on fresh THS and medium-type patterns. However, depending on your speed and rev rate, consider bringing up the Level's surface to 2000 or 3000-grit Abralon to best fit your game. I found 2000-grit Abralon worked best for me overall, especially in late-night conditions. But most importantly, be prepared to wipe the oil flares off the Level after every shot; I loved how the Level finds oil even when you think it's all burnt up! In closing, Storm has done a fantastic job creating the all-new Lab Series Level! The Level is smooth, strong, and predictable and belongs in any straighter player's arsenal! Orientation: Right Handed Rev Rate: 400 RPM Speed: 16-17 MPH PAP: 4 ½ over and 1 1/8 up Location: Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO Pattern: High Volume THS VLS Layout: Layout 1: 4 5/8 x 4 x 2 ½ (Pin above bridge) Layout 2: 4 ¼ x 4 x 4 (pin below bridge) The Level is a brand new ball in the industry! The Design intent: Control ball that absorbs oil! The LEVEL does this. Out of the box it rolled GREAT in front of me, it did all the right things. It acted like a control ball, but was a little cleaner and a little more backend. When trying to make it do the ‘thane thing, I had to hit with 500 or 360 to get it to pick up early enough, but once it did…..WOOOOOOWWW. It rolled plenty early, in the right spot, backed off enough through on the backend and continued through the deck. Then when I tried to throw it harder and jam it, it did that too. I’m not exactly sure what this ball is…..it’s definitely a control ball. ‘Thane replacement, maybe. At the least something I think I can throw a LOT! Disclaimer: This is not a UC3, Zen U, Pitch Purple, etc……It’s truly something new.

  • Level - Short Pattern King!

Short pattern king without a doubt. I have had a hole in my bag for years, when it comes to short patterns I have really struggled to find something that gave me the forgiveness that the Level does. My lower rev rate and tendency to play straight keeps me pretty far right which can get me in to trouble often. The Level allows me to stand way right, keep the ball in front of me and still be able to make the corner unlike my previous urethane balls. Can't wait to put this one to work in some tournaments coming up!

Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin up between the fingers and CG kicked out 1” from the palm. This bowling ball is the groundbreaking debut of the Lab Series. I threw this piece on a Fresh 43’ house pattern. Out of Box ball motion started in the mids with a smooth backend reaction through the pins. I compared this to the IQ Tour 78/U and Tropical Surge Purple-Navy. IQ 78/U was 5-5 right. Started earlier in the mids with an ok backend reaction. Tropical Surge Purple-Navy was similar line but was smoother through the fronts with a little more on the backend. This piece fits between the two pieces I compared them too. This will be a good piece to start off a block or game 1. This piece will be good for all types of styles. I think this is the best option if you’re not a fan like I am of urethane. I dilled the new Storm Level 4.5x4x2. Normally id drill urethane balls a bit stronger, but since this isn't a urethane ball I used a "reactive" layout on it. I recently used this ball at a tournament on a short pattern and it didn't disappoint! The level hooks significantly more than the pitch black, so if your revs match up well with your speed, or you're speed dominant this ball will work wonders for you. The all-new RPM cover allows the oil to be absorbed to give you the same consistent motion each shot, unlike urethane that doesn't absorb oil. This ball gets a 10/10 from me!

The Lab Series from Storm is going to be precise ball motions and countless hours of R&D and it completely shows with the all new Level. Featuring the RPM (Regenerative Polymer Matrix) Solid cover and the Equalizer AI core, that has an RG of 2.59 and diff of 0.027. I drilled mine 4 x 1 and this ball is very very special. It starts up as quick as urethane but continues more in the back similar reactive resin. Ive throw this ball for quite some time now and I would say this will be either a ball to start the block with or to use just urethane to create more shape down lane. If you aren’t a fan of urethane or struggle to shape it down lane, then the Level is the perfect ball for you.

900 Global iconic Zen line is back in 2025 with the all new Zen25. It features the brand new RB 83 Pearl cover and the trusted Meditate Core with AI technology added. I drilled mine 5 x 3 and WOW the Zen is back. The Zen25 reminds me of a combination of the original Zen and the Zen Gold Label. It is as strong as the Zen but clean as the Gold Label was. Compared to the Phaze AI, it is cleaner with more of an angular motion down lane as the Phaze is more rounded. If you are looking to open up the lane and watch the something create a ton of angle down lane, then look no farther than the Zen25.

The Level is the first ball in the new Lab Series and was designed to generate a consistent, continuous, and predictable ball motion. The Level features the brand new RPM (Regenerative Polymer Matrix) cover which contains proprietary additives that increase oil absorption and helps maintain the intended surface of the ball longer. Powering the Level is the Equalizer™ A.I. Core that was created to be one of the smoothest cores ever designed as it encounters friction. The Level gave me a great look sliding on 24, looking 14 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 8-9. I was able to move left or right by manipulating my hand position and speed and was impressed with the forgiveness of the Level. It gets rolling early, but continues through the pins. When compared to the Pitch Black and Summit Ascent, the Level is cleaner and more continuous than the Pitch Black, but much earlier than the Ascent. The Level will be excellent when urethane is too forward off the end of the pattern and I need more continuation and will provide a bridge from urethane to reactive equipment as patterns transition. I had the Level drilled at 65 x 3 3/8 x 35. My launch ball speed is at 16 mph. This ball gives me an earlier read once it reads the friction and a nice smooth continuation through the pin deck. I'm able to go a little left to shape it, but I must keep the same ball speed, and keep this ball closer to the friction. This is a good to start off on the fresh, and I'm able to keep my angles tighter to pocket. The AI core definitely provides more punch and pin action. This ball is great for anyone that wants a smooth, yet continuous motion to the pocket, and is a ball designed for all styles; from the croker to the cranker, and definitely great option for two handers. I'm a one-handed tweener and I enjoyed throwing this ball! Once the coverstock settles in, this ball is absolutely amazing! I'm definitely getting another one with a different layout to have a different motion!

The Storm Level is definitely a unique release that should fit into a gap in any tournament bowlers bag. For me, it slides into my bag just above the 78/U providing just a bit more downlane motion while allowing me to play the pattern close to the friction. In my video review below, I played the same pattern 3 and 2 left with the Level compared to the 78/U. https://youtu.be/BEJr3ODSb_I

The first release in the SPI Lab line is called the LEVEL. This unique cover formulation called RPM helps to create urethane shape without utilizing urethane material. This means the ball will absorb oil, reducing the carry-down that you see with urethane balls. I first tested the Level on a broken down house shot. It wasn't my first choice for environment but it was all that was available. The biggest immediate difference that I noticed between the Level and my urethane balls was its ability to shape more down-lane. The early friction was a bit of an obstacle for the urethane balls but the Level really continues much better. I feel like it does this without a dramatic change in down-lane shape which means it should give you the same great control as urethane when the backends are hooking or you need to control flatter lane patterns. I did get a chance to test the level in league later in the week. I struggled a bit more with the fresh pattern because our lane panels want to hook early, but our pattern is longer and higher volume. This is pretty much the worst environment for balls which roll early and slow down in the backend but I did see more use throwing the level left to right than I did with Urethane in the same spot. The level gives me an even smoother but earlier alternative to the Tour DynamX which is a favorite of mine. This ball should be a staple in the tournament bag and great for anyone who needs to control the back-ends. The reduced carry-down should make it particularly useful for lefties and speed dominant players who want to stand on top of the friction, but don't want to lose the backends as quickly. The Storm Level is a versatile, mid-range ball featuring the Level core and RPM™ Solid designed to provide a smooth yet aggressive reaction with strong mid-lane traction and a powerful backend, making it ideal for almost any oil conditions. In comparison, the Pitch Black, with its Controll™ Solid Urethane is much more controlled, offering a low-hook, smooth motion for smaller angles and precise lane play, with minimal backend movement. The Storm IQ 78/U, featuring the C³ Centripetal core and Controll™ 78 Solid Urethane coverstock delivers a more predictable, controlled arc with less overall hook potential, designed for medium to light oil conditions where smoothness and consistency are prioritized. While the Level offers more hook and backend energy than both the Pitch Black and IQ 78/U, the latter two are better suited for controlled, smooth reactions on specific oil patterns, with the Level standing out for those looking for more angularity and a stronger overall reaction with similar motion. Ball is drilled 4x4x1. This ball has some pop on the backend that I really wasn’t expecting. So is it urethane no but does it have the tendency of it yes. I feel when I throw urethane I don’t have enough hand to make the corner down lane so I always struggle but with this it gets through the heads very good and stores enough energy to go through the pins like a truck. So if you are looking for the ball that will be great on like that 38-39 feet patterns this will be terrific in your bag.
