LANE CONDITION Length: 41' Volume:Medium/Light Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):After league THS COMMENTS: Layout: 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 X 1 Polished OOB with Power Edge SPI page: Building off the breakthrough success of the original Ion Pro, the Ion Pro Solid strengthens the Premier line with its continuous asymmetric benchmark shape. My take: Broken down league lanes were definitely not the ideal lane conditions. This like the hybrid does require oil in the heads to clearly take advantage of the polished cover and booming backend motion. I would definitely begin league on a medium/heavy THS playing the track or outside of it staying firm and up the back creating a forward motion off the breakpoint. Easily migrating once you get to game 2 & 3. The strong cover from the PhazeII has enough power and forgiveness for me to use the entire set. The Hybrid is much smoother and controllable, but this one is more fun to watch scatter the pins across the pin deck. So Visit your local VIP Proshop for yours. #stormnation

ION Pro Solid by RGR
Storm Ion Pro Solid Ball facts: Element Core wrapped in Storm’s A.I. outer core technology with the proven TX-16 coverstock. Cover is prepped at 2000 ab with Power Edge factory finish. Bowler facts: My updated specs: Rev rate 420’s, ball speed 15.3 to 15.8 mph off the hand, axis tilt of 16 degrees and axis rotation of 70 degrees, PAP is 3 1/2 up 1/2. Tested on Pro-lane surface and older HPL on 44 ft house patterns with lower volume used for the junior and senior leagues, 44 ft house patterns with larger volume, and patterns that ranged from 33 ft to 39 ft sport patterns. The Storm Ion Pro Solid has made a HUGE splash on the market in recent weeks and seeing at the International Bowl Expo, and recent PBA and PWBA events in person, I felt the urge to drill one and see what the hype is all about. The Ion Pro Solid is the next ball in the ION line that has been a top pick the past 2 seasons with the Ion Pro and then followed up by the HUGELY popular Ion Max. My Ion Pro Solid, aka IPS, is laid out with 4.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 and left a factory finish to get a real comparison against my Ion Pro with Power Edge and my current favorite ball, the Rock Star with Power Edge added onto the coverstock. What I found when using these 3 balls in practice and going from fresh condition then about 10 games into the IPS was a much better fit for my game once the pattern started to get used up a little bit, where the OG Ion Pro and Rock Star would lose its punch in the backend because of the carry down and the fronts getting used up, the IPS rolled and reacted much better. It is a much better transition ball then a fresh shot ball for me and Pro Lane surface and a 2nd choice on the HPL panels that has a higher volume house pattern from front to back and left to right. The Ion Pro Solid will replace my polished Rock Star in my league back. My league bags will have the Rock Star #1, Ion Pro Solid, Hyroad 40, which is replacing my Equinox, RST Hyper Drive, the all new Gremlin which is replacing my Attention Star, and finally Hustle Earth. With the fall leagues just around the corner, check out your local pro shop for all the information on the all new summer and Bowl Expo releases and look out for the Storm Matchmaker Live! events near you. Ion Pro Solid
This is the best duo you can get. This ball goes hand in hand with the Ion Pro OG model. Does all the right moves in the right places. When the OG is to early the solid is cleaner. When the OG is not enough down lane the Solid is good..

Ion Pro Solid
The Ion Pro Solid is a cover swap of the Ion Pro Hybrid that came out last year that promised to revolutionize the benchmark ball concept. I still love the original Ion Pro - with its hybrid version of the TX-16 coverstock from the Phaze 2, but with that little extra punch from the asymmetric Element A.I core. The Ion Pro Solid gets the same TX-16 solid from the Phaze 2, but with a Power Edge twist to it. That makes this one of those rare instances where the solid version goes longer than the hybrid version - but only because of the finishing treatment. The original Ion Pro Hybrid was finished at 4000 instead of Power Edge. I’ve had a few customers take the Ion Pro Solid down to 2000 or 3000 to get it to read the lane sooner and be a little less angular and have had great success with that. I think that puts the Ion Pro Solid right in Phaze 2 territory. The Ion Pro Solid with Power Edge will be a great complement to the original Ion Pro with just a slightly different shape to it. I’m still considering a surface change on mine to create a little more separation between the Hybrid and Solid versions. Building on the successful asymmetrical benchmark reliability of the original Ion Pro, Storm has elevated the Ion series to a powerful new level with the Ion Pro Solid. Starting with the proven dependability of the Element Tour A.I. Core and now wrapping it with the TX-16 Solid coverstock, the Ion Pro Solid is an absolute game changer for straighter and low rev players like me. The Ion Pro Solid showed some wonderful results, so let's take a closer look at why the Ion Pro Solid belongs in your arsenal! Initially developed in the original Ion Pro, the Element Tour A.I. Core remains the predictable, asymmetrical powerhouse in the Ion Pro Solid. However, what I found to be a pleasant surprise in the Ion Pro Solid was that the Element A.I. Core has a more predictable spring or "pop" to it compared to the original Ion Pro. Not only does the Element A.I. Core have a smooth and predictable motion that straighter players love to see with asymmetrical balls. But with the Ion Pro Solid for whatever reason, the Element Tour A.I. Core had a more pronounced crunch to it as it exited the pattern than the Ion Pro. I loved seeing the rolling power the Element Tour A.I. Core had as it came off the spot, and when it started rolling, there was no stopping it. The Element Tour A.I. Core has a relentless continuation that we straighter players love to see. Sometimes a ball's core and cover combination can bring out more of the core's dynamics. With the Ion Pro Solid, that is precisely what I found. The Element A.I. Core in the Ion Pro Solid offers predictability, pop, and power, making it an excellent choice for any straighter player like me. The TX-16 Solid coverstock, paired with the Power Edge Finish, provides the Ion Pro Solid an excellent starting point for straighter players like me. However, the beauty of the TX-16 Solid lies in its adaptability to surface changes, with results that are evident from one pattern to the next. From THS shots to challenging patterns like the Taj Mahal, the Ion Pro Solid adapts extremely well, giving the bowler the ability to dial it into their game and the tournament pattern. For me, on a THS, the Ion Pro Solid was great all night with a light 4000 grit Abralon. Early on, the TX-16 Solid cleared the fronts with plenty of room, allowing my Ion Pro Solid a predictable mid-lane read and a crisp turn off the pattern, while still retaining a powerful continuation that you can depend on. Then, as the night progressed, that same lightly sanded 4000-grit Abralon finish gave the TX-16 Solid coverstock the ability to blend out the wet-dry condition, so that even in game three, my Ion Pro Solid was smooth as silk through the worn conditions. So, if you're a straighter, down and in league bowler, the TX-16 on the Ion Pro Solid will undoubtedly keep you in your game with just the right tweak to it! In conclusion, the Ion Pro Solid is another Storm success in their Premier line. The superb combination of the Element Tour A.I. Core and TX-16 Solid coverstock takes the Ion Series to a whole new outstanding level with the Ion Pro Solid, especially for straighter players like me. The Ion Pro Solid is not only predictable and stable, like the original Ion Pro, but it also has a great "snap" to its roll that will keep you striking all night. Ion Pro Solid
The Ion Pro Solid features the same Element Tour AI Core as the previous two Ions, but the new solid is wrapped in the TX-16 solid reactive coverstock. This is the same coverstock that is on the Phaze II except on the Ion Pro it is finished with Power Edge. At 15 pounds the Ion Pro Solid has a low RG of 2.47 with a differential of .035 and an intermediate differential of .014. I drilled my Ion Pro Solid at 4x4x2 which put the pin above the bridge. This ball is my new benchmark ball and the first ball out of my bag. The reaction is extremely smooth from start to finish. This ball reminds me of the original IQ Tour but only with a few boards more of total hook. The Ion Pro Solid is best suited for medium oil conditions. This will be a must have for any serious tournament bowler as it provides the consistent reaction needed when bowling on tougher, low scoring conditions.

Make space in your bag for this ball!
Rev Rate: 350 rpm Avg. Ball Speed: 14.5 mph PAP: 5 1/2"" x 1/2"" up The Ion Pro Solid quickly earned a spot in my bag after just a few games—it’s one of those balls you can trust no matter what part of the lane you're playing. Compared to the original hybrid version, this one gives a stronger and more continuous motion off the spot without being jumpy or unpredictable. It clears the fronts really well thanks to the Power Edge finish, but what stands out most is how reliably it shapes up across the lane. Whether I’m playing straighter up the boards or moving in and opening up my angles, it keeps that smooth, benchmark-like read I count on. What I really appreciate is how this ball handles transition. On tougher patterns or in league when the lanes start to break down, the Ion Pro Solid gives me a clear picture without overreacting to the wet/dry. It blends the lane nicely and gives me the confidence to stay aggressive with my release, knowing it’ll finish strong. From the Ion Pro, to the Ion Max, the Ion Pro Solid rounds out the series in fantastic fashion.

Storm Ion Pro Solid
Layout: 40 x 4 ¼ x 40 I do consider the Ion Pro Solid to be a benchmark ball, as advertised, with one caveat – surface adjustments might be necessary, depending on the bowler. To be able to use this ball on the fresh medium/heavy oil house shot in my home center, I hit the Ion Pro Solid with a 2000 pad straight out of the box – and this ball responded! It gives me a strong midlane/backend arc, and while it gets through the fronts easily, it is not allergic to oil at all. I knew that the box shine would create too much of a skid/flip reaction for what I needed, so the surface prep change was necessary. While I can use this ball on fresh with surface, I have also found that if I let it lane shine a bit, it forms an amazing 1-2 combo with the Attention Star S2, with the Ion Pro Solid coming in to play when the S2 starts digging in too early.

Review
If you like those benchmark shapes, the Ion Pro Solid will be a great addition to the bag for those fresher to early transition conditions. I have found success with this out the gate although with more utility as a step down off the bigger and stronger asymmetrical's. This ball is clean, continuous and controllable. For league, I usually transition to this game 2 after the Identity becomes too smooth down lane. I am able to play up the lane with this as well as open my angles up and swing it a bit. These types of balls are always great to have as they keep you out of trouble and in play when the lanes are either hard or easier with margin built in.

Ion Pro Solid
Finally the solid version is HERE! I've already thrown this ball a ton as a compliment to the IQ Tour Solid and original Ion Pro. Compared to the O.G., this ball is rounder off the spot while not being terribly early. It slows down in the mid-lane but doesn't jerk or get off line like the original sometimes tended too. Compared to the IQ Tour Solid, this ball is very similar but the asymmetry helps it get off the spot a little more. It's better across the lane than the IQ and provides a great option in the middle of the bag that's versatile, smooth, and benchmark-y. This one is a winner! -Chase Valenzuela

The layout is 55 4 3/4 x 75 The ION Pro Solid provides a round and continuous shape downlane. The combination of the TX-16 solid coverstock, the AI core and tne Power Edge finish on the coverstock provides the perfect combination of a ball that you need on your typical house conditions. With my layout, the pin is down below my fingers and the mass bias is kicked out to allow the ball to naturally do what it’s designed for…. great length and a continuous and predictable motion when it see friction. This ball is staying in my bag, especially for league. Make sure to grab this! You won’t be disappointed!

Ball Specs: Storm Ion Pro Solid TX-16 Solid Reactive A.I. Asymmetric Element Core Finish Power Edge Layout 4.5 x4 with 2” Pin Buffer Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5” Over 1/2 up Rev Rate 300. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: I really like the Ion Pro so I felt like this would be another good ball for me. I also like the shiny solid blue color with the yellow gold logos, and the smell is appealing too. I drilled the Ion Pro Solid to compliment the benchmark intent of the ball and took it to the lanes for a test. The Ion Pro Solid rolls smooth and predictable with a nice forgiving move on the back. The A.I. Core hit is noticeable on this ball and the pins seem to be lively at impact. The word benchmark may be overused in describing bowling balls, but I feel Storm nailed it on this one. The Power Edge finish on this ball creates a better angle for me than some benchmark balls I have used. I see plenty of these balls being rolled on sport shots and house shots and it is very effective. The Ion Pro Solid goes through the pins very well which results in excellent pin carry. I put this ball just above my Hyroad 40 and under my Exotic Gem in total hook. This ball seems to work well for many styles of play. The folks we have drilled these for really like this ball. I did most of my testing with the Ion Pro Solid on a house shot and this ball blended out the pattern very well. I also used this ball a few games on a flatter modified house shot and got the same great results. Summary: The Ion Pro Solid has very good benchmark motion. The forgiveness and hit are very good. This ball could be a must have for most bowlers. Glenn Wendel Storm Pro Shop Staff gwendel@comcast.net www.stormbowling.com

Ion Solid
Ball Specs: Ion Solid Coverstock: TX-16 Solid Core: Element Tour AI Finish: Power Edge Fragrance: Blueberry Donut The Storm Ion Pro Solid is a versatile, benchmark-quality bowling ball that offers a strong and consistent reaction across medium to heavy oil conditions. Featuring the proven TX-16 solid reactive coverstock and the low-diff, asymmetrical Element Tour A.I. core, this ball delivers an early midlane read with a smooth yet powerful backend motion. Compared to the original Ion Pro Hybrid, the Solid version hooks sooner and provides more overall board coverage, while still maintaining control and predictability. Bowlers will appreciate how the polished surface helps it glide through the front part of the lane, then dig in with authority without overreacting on the backend. It shines on house shots and performs reliably on tougher sport patterns, making it a great choice for league bowlers and tournament players alike. The ball’s low RG (2.47) and modest differential (0.035) allow for a controllable, benchmark-style shape that doesn't quit on the backend. Crankers and tweeners will enjoy the stronger midlane continuation, while strokers will appreciate the clean motion and easy-to-manage shape. It slots nicely between the Ion Max (more traction) and the Ion Hybrid (less hook), rounding out a three-ball arsenal with purpose. The polished solid surface can be adjusted to 2000–3000 grit for more traction if needed, and bowlers looking for a dependable asym to read transition zones or blend out wet/dry conditions will find this ball hits the mark. With its bold Capri Blue color and consistent performance, the Ion Pro Solid stands out visually and on the lanes. Ideal as a first-out-of-the-bag benchmark or a go-to in transition, this ball delivers a blend of strength, control, and versatility that makes it a standout in Storm’s lineup and a worthy addition to any serious bowler’s bag. Ion Pro Solid Review by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson
Ball Specs: Storm Ion Pro Solid Coverstock: TX-16™ Solid Reactive with Power Edge Weight Block: Element™ Tour A.I. Core (Asymmetrical) Color: Capri Blue Review: Game changer! This ball shape and reaction is best described as all the GOATs combined. We are seeing OG Hyroad, baby Phaze 2, IQ Solid vibes but in an asymmetrical piece. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). It is hard, and also very early, to say this could take the Phaze 2 to its grave but it may do so. The versatility of this ball and the way it reacts to surface changes makes it very dynamic, and backs up the slightly high “benchmark” price tag. You can expect to use this ball pretty much the way you find yourself using a Phaze 2. It looks good on the fresh, it looks great moving left, and it looks even better on sport patterns. This is a ball that you keep multiples drilled with maybe two different coverstock variations to use in a tournament. It is that good. Ultimate Benchmark
by Ryan Burks, BTBowlingSupply.com The Ion Pro Solid lives up to its reputation as the ultimate benchmark. It’s a ball that every serious bowler should consider anchoring their arsenal with—versatile, strong in the midlane, and incredibly tunable for different conditions. ? Layout & Surface Adjustment I drilled mine 5x4x2, looking for a clean yet readable motion with a controlled shape downlane. Out of the box, I found the ball a bit too flippy for my eye—great motion, but it over-skated the fronts on certain conditions. To dial it in, I hit it with 360-500-1000, followed by a generous layer of Storm Power Edge. That combo unlocked the look I was hoping for—strong but smooth midlane read, with a round, continuous motion and predictable finish through the pins. ? Where It Excels This ball shines on medium to longer patterns and handles a variety of lane surfaces thanks to the versatile coverstock. Whether you're bowling on older wood lanes or modern synthetics, it blends the lane well without being overly sensitive to friction or oil. ? Shape & Motion The motion is benchmark smooth—reads early enough to give confidence but retains energy and makes a controlled, continuous move through the pins. With the surface tweaks, it avoids that over-under reaction and becomes a great ball to build moves off of. ✅ Final Thoughts Surface Prep is Key – Customize it to your game. It’s incredibly responsive to surface changes. Versatile Core/Cover Matchup – Predictable, playable, and powerful. Perfect First Ball Out of the Bag – Great for reading the lane and adjusting from there. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) The Ion Pro Solid is a trusted read piece and a workhorse benchmark that adapts to many environments. With the right surface prep, it becomes a killer tool on both house and sport conditions.

Ion Pro Solid Review
layout: 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 2 Surface: 2000 Abralon Rev Rate: 470 RPM Tilt: 13* I was very excited with the announcement of the new Ion Pro Solid. I was a huge fan of the original Ion Pro and expected this one to be no different. The ball reaction I got, was just as I expected but better. Clean through the front, strong in the midlane and ample continuation. Definitely my type of ball! The Ion Pro solid brings back the Element AI core and paired with the TX-16 Solid coverstock found on the Phaze 2. I got to test this ball on my typical 44ft house pattern and the 46ft Johnny Petraglia sport pattern. On the House pattern, I actually saw a little too much length on the 44ft with the polished finish. It was forcing me to be too close to the friction and then with my rev rate, it would see the friction too hard. I changed the surface to 2000 to get the hook a little closer to me while allowing it to still continue well. The 2000 surface really did the trick for me. It allowed me to move into the center part of the lane more on the fresh and gave me area left and right of target. As I moved into about 25 with my feet, the ball still had no trouble continuing through the pins. At times in the transition, the ball actually read the lane too hard still. As I got into 30 with my feet, the ball was now in front of the transitioned hook spot in the front of the lane and it gave me decent length and continuation still. I had no fear that the ball was going to be too lazy down lane. This is definitely a ball that will make my bag on a wide variety of patterns. On the Johnny Petraglia pattern, I saw the same shape as the house pattern but needed to keep my breakpoint closer to the 10-12 range. The lower differential of the core got the ball down the lane and gave me plenty of hold if I missed left of target. However, the downfall was missing outside of that 10 range, it had trouble making it back up the hill due to its lower strength core. When I focused on keeping my target left of 10, it really shined well. As the lanes transitioned and I moved my feet even more left to about 30, I had no trouble seeing continuation still. The only time I had issue when I hit my target was when I got into about 40 with my feet. The solid coverstock had trouble turning the ball hard enough to go through the pins well enough. I was able to ball down to the original Ion Pro with a little hand rotation and was able to see a little better shape overall from that spot. I can recommend this Ion Pro Solid to a wide variety of players and conditions. Like the original Ion Pro, I see a lot of benchmark vibes with this one while still giving great continuation. From house patterns to sport patterns, this one will shine on medium oil the best. This ball can easily be used on the fresh or as a transition ball depending on the conditions.

Cover: TX-16 Solid Reactive Core: Element Tour A.I. Core RG: 2.47 RG. Diff.: 0.035 Finish: Power Edge Fragrance: Blueberry Donut The Ion Pro Solid is Storms newest premier line release and predecessor to the Ion Pro and Ion Max. This ball for me fits perfectly between the other 2 Ions, as it gets much more length than the Ion Max with the Power Edge Finish, but also has more traction in the midlane and pops on the end than the original Ion Pro. I feel this ball is very versatile on many different oil patterns as I have been able to throw it all 3 games of league, and on a couple different medium length sport patterns as well. It also takes to surface adjustments very well, as I knocked the shine off with a 1k pad and it helped pick up in the oil a little earlier but did not lose much on the backend. This is a very versatile ball and will fit many styles on many different patterns.

Ion Pro Solid Review
The Ion Pro Solid is the newest addition to the Premier line, Ion series. It features the TX-16 Solid Cover stock, that is found from the legendary Phaze II, paired with the Element Tour AI Core. Known to be a solid, its Power Edge finish makes the Ion Pro Solid deliver a more enhanced backend motion and versatility compared to the Ion Pro Hybrid and Pro Max. Ion Pro Solid layout: 45 x 4 x 35. Tested on its 43ft league pattern at my home center of Hudson Lanes in Cortlandt Manor, NY, I was quite impressed with the ball motion the Ion Pro Solid can create. With its Power Edge finish, the ball tends to clear the front part of the lane smoothly and clean with ease, giving strong and predictable back-end motion. Fresh oil and lane transition played a factor where the more I opened my angles, as well as moving my feet, the Pro Solid still tends to be very versatile, giving constant down lane motion one could expect. This ball would be right in the middle of my bag if bowlers want to line themselves up with the Pro Max, Pro Solid, and Pro Hybrid in that particular order. The Pro Max tends to pick up a little early, and while the Pro Hybrid would have similar length, the Pro Solid reacts stronger at the end. I would highly recommend the Ion Pro Solid for bowlers looking to attack the lanes on those medium/heavy conditions whether it’s on your THS or sport patterns. Be sure to stop by your local pro shop and drill up an Ion Pro Solid, you won’t be disappointed! Thomas Coco (Storm Staffer)

Ion Pro Solid
Getting my hands on the new Storm ION Pro Solid has been a game-changer, especially when comparing it to its siblings, the original ION Pro and the ION Max. The ION Pro Solid truly delivers on the promise of a continuous, asymmetric benchmark shape. Where the original ION Pro (with its hybrid cover) provided a smooth, controllable mid-lane read and a predictable backend, the new Solid version definitely offers more pronounced traction and an earlier, more consistent roll through the mid-lane. It feels like it digs into the oil just a touch sooner, giving me a more reliable breakpoint on fresh conditions or when I need to play a bit straighter. While the Max is my go-to on heavy oil condiditions, the ION Pro Solid provides a more controlled and continuous motion than the Max, making it far more versatile for typical league patterns or transitioning conditions where the Max might be too much. It's the kind of ball you can trust to get into a roll and maintain energy through the pins without over-reacting, a true benchmark piece that strengthens the Ion line beautifully.

Smells Great Hits Great
The Ion Pro Solid is a great addition to the Ion series especially with the Power Edge. It really gets down the lane and has a great backend reaction. I used the ball in a center where the back ends tend to have a lot more friction. I was able to keep the ball right around second arrow where there is usually a good amount of volume and it had no issue recovering. One other nice thing I noticed where I had limits moving in with the Ion Max was the ball held a lot more energy with the help of the Power Edge. It reminds me of how I was able to move with the Ion Pro but it just gets a bit further down the lane.
