You love the Equinox, you asked for even more hook. Here it is!
The Equinox Solid marks the return of the unmatched Solarion A.I. Core, now paired with the next evolution of Storm's Adhesion System Technology - A2S. If you' re chasing total hook, the Equinox Solid will stand toe-to-toe with the Ion Max, but with a dramatically different shape and motion. It's bold, aggressive, and built to stand out.

Storm EquinoX Solid
The Equinox Solid is the solid version of the Equinox Pearl that was released in early 2025. The Equinox Solid keeps the same Solarion + AI Core from the original Equinox but upgrades the coverstock from A1S Pearl to A2S Solid. The Equinox Solid will hold it’s own in the total hook category with the likes of the Ion Max and RST HyperDrive solid, but where many solids have a ton of mid-lane dig and not much on the back end, somehow the A2S on the Equinox Solid manages to retain some energy for backend response. Make no mistake, it’s not going to have the backend of something like the HyperDrive Pearl or the Equinox Pearl, compared to most solids, you still do get some backend response. Once the Equinox Solid starts hooking too much or too early, the original Equinox Pearl is a perfect step down. Anyone who’s rev dominant will need a lot of oil for the Equinox Solid to be useful at box surface, but that should be magic to the ears of anyone rev challenged or speed dominant. Storm Equinox Solid Coverstock: A2S Solid Reactive Finish: 2000-grit Abralon Core: Solarion A.I. Core RG: 2.48, Diff: 0.054, PSA: 0.018 (15 lbs.) VLS Layout: 5 x 4 x 2-1/2 Dual Angle Layout: 50 x 5 x 35 PAP: 5 3/16” right x 5/8” up Rev rate: 400 rpm Average speed: 16.5 mph Location: Prairie Lanes, Sun Prairie WI Pattern: Medium volume THS The Equinox Solid marks the return of the Solarion core from the original Equinox, but this time it’s wrapped in the next iteration of Storm coverstock technology – Adhesion System Technology, or A2S. This new solid cover helps to create more midlane traction compared to the pearl cover on the original Equinox. Combined with the Solarion core that helps deliver a strong and decisive motion at the breakpoint without sacrificing consistency, the Equinox Solid is designed to produce a dramatically different shape compared to other “big hook balls” on medium-oily lane conditions. I’ve been able to throw the Equinox Solid for a few weeks now, and I would agree that this ball is built for a consistent and predictable midlane reaction with a stronger motion on the backend. It excels on medium to higher volume oil patterns and provides a continuous motion along the entire lane from front to back. However, unlike other stronger balls such as the Ion Max, the Equinox Solid doesn’t burn up too quickly and it retains enough energy to still have a strong yet predictable motion on the backend. By comparison, the original Equinox would be full step down from the solid version for when you need something to clear the front part of the lane when they start to burn up or after the transition. The Equinox Solid can be highly versatile as well, so with the right surface prep (4000-grit Abralon or a bit of Reacta Gloss) it could be use on lighter oil volumes or high-friction lane surfaces where you may need just a little more help getting the ball downlane. The Equinox Solid is a strong, reliable option for a wide range of bowlers looking for a ball to deliver consistent reaction from shot to shot without compromising power and should appeal to anyone looking to add a top-end ball to their bag for fresh lane conditions with medium-heavy oil volume. Ball Specs: Storm Equinox Solid Cover: A2S Solid Reactive Cover stock Core: Solarion AI Core (Asymmetric) Finish: 2000 Grit Review: The Storm Equinox Solid is a strong, mid-to-heavy oil ball built with the Solarion A.I. asymmetric core and A2S Solid Reactive cover, giving it early mid-lane read with a surprisingly sharp, angular backend for a solid. It thrives when there’s volume—digging in early, creating a defined motion at the breakpoint, and driving hard through the pins—making it ideal for bowlers with moderate to high rev rates who need a ball that won’t quit in heavier conditions. It can be too aggressive on lighter or broken-down lanes and may require surface tweaks or deeper angles as the pattern transitions, but in the right environment it’s a high-performance option that adds serious punch to the top end of an arsenal. Equinox Solid
The new Storm Equinox Solid features the all new A2S solid reactive coverstock with the Solarion AI core. At 15 pounds this ball has a low RG of 2.48 with a differential of .054 and intermediate differential of .018. I drilled the solid at 5x5x2 which is a little stronger than I drilled the original Equinox because that ball was not as strong as I wanted it to be. I do not have that problem with the solid. This ball is stronger than I was expecting. It is still a step down in total hook from the Ion Max but the backend motion is much stronger than the Ion Max. The Ion Max starts up much sooner than the Equinox solid and is about 2-3 boards more hook. When compared to the original Equinox, the solid is good 3-5 boards stronger for me. This is one of those balls that you didn’t realize you were missing the reaction in your bag until you throw this ball. Then you wonder how you went so long without it. This ball definitely has a place in everyone’s bag.

Equinox Solid
Admittedly I did not drill the original Equinox as I wasn’t that interested in a ball “good for house patterns.” I had plenty of pearl cover balls that are clean through the front. The original Equinox featured the A1S pearl coverstock which was the same as the Hyroad 40. But what was missing from my arsenal was a strong asym which would be a nice step down from the Ion Max. The RST Hyperdrive didn’t roll well for me, I think because the RG was too high, not matching up to the strong cover. So when I saw the Equinox Solid, I was intrigued. It has the Storm Adhesion System Technology - A2S solid coverstock. It features the same Solarion A.I. Core as the Equinox which is a lower RG (2.48 for 15#), with higher diff (0.054) to ensure enough track flare for continuation and a PSA dif of 0.018. Sure enough, it was exactly what I was expecting. It is cleaner than the Ion Max and therefore has more pop on the backend. But still the cover gives it plenty of traction on the heavier oil patterns. So now when the Ion Max burns up too early and does not push through the front, but I still need something that will not blow past it, the Equinox Solid is the perfect choice. It won’t over skid because of the A2S solid cover, it will be strong in the midline with the strong asym core and yet still has plenty of backend motion. If you are looking for a strong asym for the top of your bag, but not quite the highest ball in your arsenal, I think the Equinox Solid could be the ball for you. I drilled mine with pin 4 1/2” from my PAP, PSA 4” from PAP and pin 2” from my VAL (4.5x4x2).

Storm Equinox Solid Ball Review by PJ Haggerty
The Equinox Solid is the newest addition to the Premier Line at Storm, and wow, it’s impressive. After drilling the original Equinox and having success with it, I was excited to see that our team in Utah was creating a solid version. The closest comparison I’ve seen to this ball is the Ion Max, but I’ve seen a bit of a different shape. The core didn’t change from the original Equinox, but the coverstock was beefed up with the new A2S solid which helps create a more angular shape, which is unique for a solid coverstock. I’ve drilled one so far and really like it. It’s mapped out as 4 x 3 x 6. This puts the pin below my ring finger and the mass bias below my thumb. My goal with this layout was to provide a more forward motion down-lane to compliment balls like the Roto Grip Rockstar, Ion Max, as well as Ion Pro Solid. That layout accomplishes exactly that and rolls great. I’ve left the surface alone but if I needed it to pick up a little sooner, I’d use a fresh 1000 pad to do so. When comparing it to the Ion Max, I feel like the Equinox Solid is cleaner and more responsive down-lane. I believe that’s a difference in coverstock and by having both in my bag provides a nice 1-2 punch. If you’re looking for an extremely versatile piece that serves many purposes, the Equinox Solid should be the next ball you drill! #StormNation

Equinox Solid
The layout on this ball is 4 1/2 x 4 1/4 x 2 1/4 (or 50 x 4 1/2 x 35 using the dual angle layout) If you are a fan of the Equinox, you will really like the Equniox Solid. The solid coverstock provides a smoother option on the fresh on medium to medium-heavy oil conditions, especailly on the house shot! If the Equinox is giving you too much skid, the Equinox Solid will provide you more traction in the midlane and continuation through the pins off the friction. This ball is very predictable for me; it has just enough length, midlane read and control, with a great amount of backend. If you really like the Rockstar, but is not enough for you, and the Ion Max or RST Hyperdrive has too much midlane read, the Equinox Solid will definitely fill that gap!

Taking into consideration the above Pure It Pro Shop decided to go with a short pin to PAP layout on the Equinox Solid. For more information you can reference Storm's 2LS Poster Layouts #2 for more details. Basically this layout is good for rev dominant players and can be most effective on shorter patterns or patterns where a lot of friction is showing at the end of the pattern. What impressed me the most with this ball is that for having a solid finish the ball did not dig into our 41' typical house shot immediately. Also, I did not do any cover adjustment at this time. So far this ball will shine on your higher volume fresh patterns and medium patterns. I also feel this ball is very versatile in being able to stay in it as the lanes transition. For me, the Equinox Solid did not "lock up" as some asyms in my hand tend to do. For example "big balls" such as the Storm Ion Max or the Roto Grip RST Hyperdrive do not get used often unless I'm on longer sport patterns. My ball speed dictates that I do not need the strongest of balls in my hand. In comparison to my OG Storm DNA which I have the same layout the Equinox Solid is a tad smoother and will allow me to stay in the ball a tad longer for having slower ball speed. A great ball for heavy oil. And surprisingly league too, super clean but strong at the same time. This ball is good all around choice. I would definitely recommend this ball.A+++

Storm Equinox Solid
The new High Performance ball from Storm is the Equinox Solid. The original Equinox was a huge hit among bowlers with the pearl coverstock. So Storm came out with the solid version. I needed a short pin for the shorter sport patterns. So I drilled mine 2 3/4 x 6 x 2. This gave me the perfect reaction that I was looking for in a solid Asymmetrical. It allowed me to play to the right and up the lane on the short patterns. With the Equinox solid it gave a little more tip down lane than I was expecting, which a nice bonus to help get the 10 pin out. The Equinox solid handles surface adjustments well also. Overall it is a strong 'Big" ball in the Storm lineup, but it doesn't seem to bog down a lot like some of the other big asymmetrical bowling balls. I have drilled a couple for customers of mine, they like the control and smoothness of the Equinox solid. Equinox solid seems to carry very well also. Been a big hit in our Storm Match Makers. Plus it has great shelf appeal! I would put the Equinox solid under neath the RST Hyperdrive and above the Phaze 2, Rock Star, and Gremlin. Very good strong ball for all styles! Equinox Solid Review by Kyle, Joel, & Dean Johnson
Ball Specs: Storm Equinox Solid Coverstock: A2S™ Solid Reactive 2000 Grit Core: Solarion™ A.I. Core (Asymmetrical) Color: Dark Green/Black/White Scent: Cherry Apply Slush Review: The Equinox line is FIRE! We were so glad they produced a solid version of this “house shot killer”. Don’t think this ball competes or is the same as the recently released Ion Max. This this has a whole different Identity and really stands out with a totally different shape and down lane motion. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). This ball generates a sharper, more angular motion than what you see in an Ion Max or for any typical big solid for that matter. It is a touch earlier than the original Equinox and you will definitely be standing more left with your feet, opening up the lane a bit. This is a great starting ball if you love your original Equinox but don’t think it is quite strong enough for heavy volumes or that first out of league on a fresh house shot. We can’t wait for more from this line (fingers crossed – Equinox pearl anyone?). Again, this is not the same as the Ion Max. Both balls could be in your bag and serve different purposes. When the Ion Max isn’t working for ya, give this a shot! Equinox Solid
Equinox Solid builds on what made the original unique, while adding some depth in the solid asym real for SPI. This ball is stronger than the Origin EX, but overall weaker than the Ion Max. The result is a classic big solid asym shape in a slightly cleaner/more useable package. This ball reads like a baby Ion Max for me; midlane traction and smooth continuation on the backend. Something unique about both of these balls is that for being earlier/stronger, you don't sacrifice downlane motion and they don't quit or bail at the pins. The Equinox solid is a versatile strong piece that is early, strong, and continuous. This one is gonna be the cliff-beater for league and tournaments!! -Chase Valenzuela YouTube review: https://youtu.be/E3FgDBfu3sk?si=3clYdlZMQuW2F8C6

Equinox Solid
The Storm Equinox Solid is a strong and confident addition to Storm's lineup, featuring the Solarion A.I. Core and the aggressive A2S Solid Reactive coverstock finished at 2000 grit, which is designed to provide a heavy-rolling, mid-lane controlling motion ideal for fresh medium-to-heavy oil conditions. Compared to the original Equinox (Pearl), the Solid version utilizes more surface friction to read the lane earlier and more consistently, delivering a smoother, more predictable arc in the mid-lane while still maintaining the strong, continuous backend that drives through the pins; this makes the Equinox Solid a great benchmark-type choice that fits right between the Ion Pro Solid and a slightly weaker, cleaner ball, and offers predictable traction with plenty of pop at the pocket.

Equinox Solid!
The Equinox Solid is Storms newest high performance ball. The ES features the same Solarian AI core found in the OG but is now wrapped in A2S solid. The OG for me did not roll well. It would lock up and go forward too quickly from farther left and was too strong for me to play on top of the friction with. The ES with the stronger and slower response cover lets me play more in the volume of the pattern which allows the ball to blend the wet dry better. The ES for me is not sensitive to hand position and rev rate changes so I feel like my misses don’t translate as much to ball reaction on the lane. The ES is now available for purchase from any Storm VIP Pro Shop! Review Video: https://youtu.be/xSqVnJkuemc?si=FNoebSB3UoIDNwnv

Storm Equinox Solid Ball Review The Equinox Solid uses the Solarion AI core found in the orginal Equinox but now paired the next evolution of Storm’s Adhesion System Technology coverstock called A2S The Equinox Solid is a asymmetrical core with a RG 2.48 Differential.054 Intermediate diff of .018 Finished with 2000 grit Abralon I drilled mine 5x4x4.5 using the Storm VLS layour system which is a pin down layout for me which raises the rg and lowers the total differential . It allows it clear the fronts with a continuous smooth motion on the backend. I compared the equinox solid to several on my strong bigger balls I found the RST Hyperdrive and Ion Max to be earlier with quicker response to the friction while the equinox solid was cleaner with a more continuous motion on the backend . The equinox was stronger than the Physix blackout so equinox solid is going to be a great addition to the storm lineup on heavy oil or fresh lane conditions. The combination of the A2S and the solarion core create a very impressive explosion on the pins Storm Equinox solid is available October 17th

Equinox Solid
I drilled the equinox solid 5x4x2 vls. This ball was made to be a step down from the Ion max and hyperdrive in the current spi lineup. With the new A2S solid cover (no nano), it gives you a smooth motion, but not as early rolling as the 2 solid nano balls in the lineup. Personally, ive seen success at league with the ball at a 3-4000 finish. This allows me to open my angles a bit more but still allow to ball to carry and not roll out too soon. I see this ball fitting right below those early "fresh" balls in a tournament bag. I will definitely have one of these in the bag for a long time. 10/10 from me!

Big ball in disguise!
When considering the Equinox I wanted a ball to fit my Optimum Idol Solid/Phase II slot for a higher volume house. I drilled mine 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 x 3. What I got was a much stronger and much more determined ball. It comes at a dull 2k finish. For me I’ll be letting this one lane shine for a while and only touch the surface if needed. Out of the box you can expect this ball to crave oil. Unless you have higher speed it will scream at you to move into the middle of the pattern. It’s got a whole lotta giddy up and looks and smells great. If I were to drill another one I would go weaker pin down to decrease the flare and keep it on line longer.

I couldn't wait to get to the shop and get holes in it. Fast forward to league and I picked up the ball and started practice. This ball rolled terribly and no matter what I did the ball just looped down the lane. I spent all of my 10 minutes trying to get oil on it and see if that will help the roll. Good thing for me that I was bowling with my PSO and we both talked about what we were seeing……OR not seeing. We decided to break the surface and went 500-2000 by hand and boy let me tell you that made a world of diffrence. We had planned on shooting the video on Sunday so again I was excited to see what breaking the surface did to the ball. With this touch up to the cover it came alive and rolled and did everything that I thought a solid Equinox should be doing. If you have been around and seen my reviews and videos you all know I love to be close to the track. The ball dug in when I was standing on 15 and going up 10. Equinox Solid
The Storm Equinox Solid is a reliable choice for bowlers who want early traction, smooth control, and strong continuation. For a tweener-style bowler on house shots, it’s a confidence-building piece that performs well on fresh and transitions gracefully. If you’re looking for a ball that blends power with predictability, the Equinox Solid is worth adding to your lineup.

Equinox Solid Review
Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 1/4 Surface: 2000 Abralon Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The Eqiuinox Solid brings back the Solarian AI core but this time paired with the new A2S Solid Coverstock. This ball line was designed for those house patterns from 38 to 42ft and the Equinox Solid gives added traction where the original Equinox was a little too clean. I got to try this on a typical 42ft house pattern. My first impressions of the ball were actually how strong it was. My anticipation was for it to be a little earlier and smoother than the original. This ball picked up strong in the midlane and hooked a little more in the front then I had expected. On the fresh, it actually forced me a little further left on the lane than I wanted to be. My idea of a fresh ball is to keep my angles more in front of me playing around that 7-10 board at the breakpoint. I had to move into about 20 with my feet and play about 13 to 8 to have the right ball motion. As the lanes transitioned, I still saw adequate continuation. I was able to get as left as 25 with my feet to still see good motion through the pins. As I moved left of 25, I can tell that the ball was using too much energy too quickly. This is when I would change to the Equinox Pearl. My overall impression was that it is a very good ball on the fresh that is not as strong as the Ion Max. It handles the middle part of the lane very well and isn't overly strong in the front part of the lane. I think some may see a distinct distance difference between the solid and pearl versions. A change of surface for either the Solid or Pearl will make the two balls a little closer together in terms of length. I recommend this ball to someone who uses the Equinox pearl a lot and wants a better option for the fresh. This could be a very good ball down for those who like the Ion Max and prefer to see a strong and smooth shape on the lanes. For those who bowl on low oil volume, this may be too strong overall. A Phaze 2 or Ion Pro Solid would likely be a better fit.

Equinox Solid Review
The Equinox Solid is the next installment to the Equinox series. Padded out of the box at 2000 grit, this solid asymmetrical piece features the return of the Solarion AI core that was found in the Equinox Pearl and paired with the A2S solid cover stock. These pairings make the Equinox Solid Storm’s heaviest rolling ball to date! It stands toe-to-toe with the Ion Max but delivers a dramatically different shape and ball motion. The color and design of this ball is also refreshing as well as the Cherry Apple Slush Fragrance. Ball layout: 70 x 5 3/8 x 40 in comparison to my Ion Max. The Equinox Solid tends to read a little bit longer through the front part of the lane, something that the Ion Max doesn’t tend to do with its shape. Both with striking results, the Equinox gives a more versatile result when it comes to attacking the lanes on those medium-heavier lane conditions. The Equinox Solid can perform well when the Ion Max is too early and loses its backend reaction, the Equinox Pearl is too long, and the Ion Pro Solid does not create enough shape. If you’re looking for a ball that is needed to contest on those heavier lane conditions, then the Equinox Solid is the choice for you. Be sure to head on out to your local Storm VIP Pro shop and drill one up today! Thomas Coco (Storm Staffer)
