Equinox Solid
The Equinox Solid is a great piece to going along with a ball like a Reality. When my Reality is leaving flat ten pins, the Equinox Solid has slightly more pop and will be a great option to go to from the Reality.

Storm EquinoX Solid – WWRD 10/17/2025
Cover: A2S Solid Reactive Core: Solarion + A.I. RG: 2.48 RG. Diff.: 0.054 Finish: 2000-Grit Abralon Fragrance: Cherry Apple Slush Storm’s new EquinoX Solid is a Solid Asymmetrical piece that is good for Medium-Heavy Volume patterns. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. I drilled this piece with the Pin up between the fingers, CG kicked out 2” from the palm, and 1” Left of the Mass Bias. 5 x 4 x 2 ½. I threw this piece on a Fresh 43’ house pattern. Out of Box ball motion started in the mids with a strong backend reaction through the pins. This piece is good for Medium-Heavy Volume Patterns. I compared this to the EquinoX. EquinoX is 2-2 right of the EquinoX Solid. EquinoX is cleaner through the fronts with a sharper backend motion. This piece will be good for all types of styles. This piece will be a good to start the League/Tournament with then switch to the EquinoX when the fronts starts to go. Big ball in disguise!
When considering the Equinox I wanted a ball to fit my Optimum Idol Solid/Phase II slot for a higher volume house. I drilled mine 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 x 3. What I got was a much stronger and much more determined ball. It comes at a dull 2k finish. For me I’ll be letting this one lane shine for a while and only touch the surface if needed. Out of the box you can expect this ball to crave oil. Unless you have higher speed it will scream at you to move into the middle of the pattern. It’s got a whole lotta giddy up and looks and smells great. If I were to drill another one I would go weaker pin down to decrease the flare and keep it on line longer.

TESTING ENVIRONMENT Type: Lakes Bowl House Shot BALL: Storm Equinox Solid Coverstock: A2S Solid Core: : Solarion A.I. Core Finish: 2000 Grit RG: 2.49 (14 Pounds) Differential: 0.053 (14 Pounds) MB/PSA: 0.017 (14 Pounds) ME: Right-Handed Tweener Speed: 14-15 mph Rev Rate: 220 PAP: 5 7/16 Right 1/8 Down Ball Layout: 42x4x28 So I had a lot of excitement for this ball and watching others throw theirs. I couldn't wait to get to the shop and get holes in it. Fast forward to league and I picked up the ball and started practice. This ball rolled terribly and no matter what I did the ball just looped down the lane. I spent all of my 10 minutes trying to get oil on it and see if that will help the roll. Good thing for me that I was bowling with my PSO and we both talked about what we were seeing……OR not seeing. We decided to break the surface and went 500-2000 by hand and boy let me tell you that made a world of diffrence. We had planned on shooting the video on Sunday so again I was excited to see what breaking the surface did to the ball. With this touch up to the cover it came alive and rolled and did everything that I thought a solid Equinox should be doing. If you have been around and seen my reviews and videos you all know I love to be close to the track. The ball dug in when I was standing on 15 and going up 10. I needed to move and found a happy zone standing around 22 and hitting 13. Equinox Solid
The Storm Equinox Solid is a reliable choice for bowlers who want early traction, smooth control, and strong continuation. For a tweener-style bowler on house shots, it’s a confidence-building piece that performs well on fresh and transitions gracefully. If you’re looking for a ball that blends power with predictability, the Equinox Solid is worth adding to your lineup.

Equinox Solid Review
Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 1/4 Surface: 2000 Abralon Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The Eqiuinox Solid brings back the Solarian AI core but this time paired with the new A2S Solid Coverstock. This ball line was designed for those house patterns from 38 to 42ft and the Equinox Solid gives added traction where the original Equinox was a little too clean. I got to try this on a typical 42ft house pattern. My first impressions of the ball were actually how strong it was. My anticipation was for it to be a little earlier and smoother than the original. This ball picked up strong in the midlane and hooked a little more in the front then I had expected. On the fresh, it actually forced me a little further left on the lane than I wanted to be. My idea of a fresh ball is to keep my angles more in front of me playing around that 7-10 board at the breakpoint. I had to move into about 20 with my feet and play about 13 to 8 to have the right ball motion. As the lanes transitioned, I still saw adequate continuation. I was able to get as left as 25 with my feet to still see good motion through the pins. As I moved left of 25, I can tell that the ball was using too much energy too quickly. This is when I would change to the Equinox Pearl. My overall impression was that it is a very good ball on the fresh that is not as strong as the Ion Max. It handles the middle part of the lane very well and isn't overly strong in the front part of the lane. I think some may see a distinct distance difference between the solid and pearl versions. A change of surface for either the Solid or Pearl will make the two balls a little closer together in terms of length. I recommend this ball to someone who uses the Equinox pearl a lot and wants a better option for the fresh. This could be a very good ball down for those who like the Ion Max and prefer to see a strong and smooth shape on the lanes. For those who bowl on low oil volume, this may be too strong overall. A Phaze 2 or Ion Pro Solid would likely be a better fit.

Equinox Solid Review
The Equinox Solid is the next installment to the Equinox series. Padded out of the box at 2000 grit, this solid asymmetrical piece features the return of the Solarion AI core that was found in the Equinox Pearl and paired with the A2S solid cover stock. These pairings make the Equinox Solid Storm’s heaviest rolling ball to date! It stands toe-to-toe with the Ion Max but delivers a dramatically different shape and ball motion. The color and design of this ball is also refreshing as well as the Cherry Apple Slush Fragrance. Ball layout: 70 x 5 3/8 x 40 in comparison to my Ion Max. The Equinox Solid tends to read a little bit longer through the front part of the lane, something that the Ion Max doesn’t tend to do with its shape. Both with striking results, the Equinox gives a more versatile result when it comes to attacking the lanes on those medium-heavier lane conditions. The Equinox Solid can perform well when the Ion Max is too early and loses its backend reaction, the Equinox Pearl is too long, and the Ion Pro Solid does not create enough shape. If you’re looking for a ball that is needed to contest on those heavier lane conditions, then the Equinox Solid is the choice for you. Be sure to head on out to your local Storm VIP Pro shop and drill one up today! Thomas Coco (Storm Staffer)

Equinox Solid - Storm's New Hook Monster?
RH Rev Rate 450 ball speed 19 pap 5 ov .5 up The Storm Equinox Solid instantly gave me vibes of a modern Reality or more recent PhysiX Blackout — strong, early, and predictable, yet with that signature Storm skid-flip shape thanks to the Solarion A.I. Core. The unique tri-cylindrical design revs up fast, reads the midlane early, and still finishes with a clean, decisive move downlane. I threw mine at 2000 grit on a fresh pattern and compared it to my RST Hyper-Drive Pearl and Ion Max. The Equinox Solid was definitely the most forward rolling of the three — it hooked earlier and stayed more forward, while the Hyper-Drive covered more boards overall and the Ion Max was the cleanest through the fronts and smoothest down lane. The A2S Solid Reactive coverstock gives this ball fierce midlane traction with a controllable backend, making it ideal for higher-volume or longer sport conditions where sharper covers tend to overreact. If you’re looking for a benchmark-type asymmetric that blends the lane, controls the midlane, and still hits hard, the Equinox Solid deserves a look. It’s a perfect compliment to the Origin EX and original Equinox, but built to handle fresh or heavier oil with more stability and confidence.

Skid/Flip
The Equinox Solid surprised me to say the least with how much skid/flip it has. I was able to play my normal line and it did not grip super early as I was expecting it to. Now what really surprised me was that I was able to move left and play 15 at the arrows and got it to recover and continue through the pins. This is something that you do not always see out of a textured solid. I have been loving this ball in tournament play especially when there is significant carry down.

Storm Equinox Solid
Core: Solarion AI Core Coverstock: A2S Solid RG: 2.48 | Diff: 0.054 | PSA: 0.018 Layout Used: 4 x 4 x 2 The Storm Equinox Solid builds off the success of the original Equinox, delivering a similar overall shape but with an earlier and smoother read. Thanks to the A2S Solid coverstock, this ball provides a strong, predictable midlane roll without sacrificing backend continuation. Compared to the original Equinox, the Solid version starts up just a touch sooner, making it ideal when you need to blend out tougher patterns or transition from a higher-end ball. It’s an excellent step down from heavier oil options like the Ion Max or Hyper Drive Solid—giving you a strong but more controllable look when those begin to read too early. If you're looking for more traction than the original Equinox without jumping to the most aggressive balls in the lineup, the Equinox Solid fits that slot perfectly. It’s versatile, smooth, and fills a key gap in the modern arsenal. Verdict: A strong, reliable benchmark-style solid that offers great control and continuation. Ideal for medium to heavier volumes when the big balls are too much and the clean covers aren’t enough.

Storm Equinox Solid review by Lonnie Pemberton
TESTING ENVIRONMENT: Length:44 Volume: Med-High Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):THS SPECS AND STATS: Core: Solarion A.I. Core Coverstock: A2S Solid Reactive Finish: 2000 -grit RG: 2.48 (15) Differential: 0.054 (15) PSA: .018 ME: Right-Handed Tweener Speed: 12-13 mph Rev Rate: 315 Axis Tilt: 14° Axis Rotation: 74° PAP: 5 1/8 R 7/8 Up Ball Layout: Pin Over Bridge 5 X 4 3/4 X 2 1/2 VLS COMMENTS: The new Storm powerhouse ball is called Equinox solid. The Solid version of the Equinox features the same Solarion AI core that powered the original equinox but this time paired with a stronger/earlier cover called A2S Solid. This cover makes the ball very diggy in the mid-lane, giving you earlier motion where you need it most on heavy oil-patterns. I tested the Equinox solid on our House Pattern after a session of senior league. I wasn't surprised at how far left I had to start. The seniors don't tend to beat the pattern up much but the front panels hook here so most aggressive solids make you start much further left regardless. I was very surprised at how well the Equinox solid continued. I got further left in testing than I had expected to without losing carry. The ball sees the mid-lane aggressively and has a pretty long transition window, giving you a predictable arcing move that doesn't get forward as fast as many of the big solids. I do feel like the extra teeth on this cover takes a little bit of the versatility away compared to the original equinox. I could make the original look smoother or quicker with hand position changes. This cover is too strong for this ball to ever really look quick, but it's also incredibly consistant on where it reads the pattern. I could bomb this through the front without feeling like i needed to help it read. I feel like this ball is definitely going to be a favorite of speed dominant players but I feel as though it is in play much longer for lower speed bowlers like myself than say a Ion Max or RST Hyperdrive. The best comparison I can think of would be the 900 Global Eternity Pi. This could work for those speedsters as a ball off of the Max and Hyperdrive or very well as a first ball out for people who are matched to a bit more rev dominant. The Equinox Solid

Core Weight • 2.48 RG • .054 Differential • PSA •.018 Layout • 4 ½ x 4 ¼ x 2 ¼ Tester PAP • 5” R, 5/8” D Tester Axis Tilt • 11° Tester Rev Rate • 300 Test Pattern • 42' THS (Typical House Shot) • Modified, Kegel Stone Street The new Storm Equinox Solid is another excellent example of Storm's relentless pursuit of innovation that will bring you the bowler to a greater level of success—the combination of the Solarion +A.I. Core found in the original Equinox and the latest mixture of Storm's Adhesion System technology, the A2S Solid coverstock, the Equinox Solid is a standalone, predictable powerhouse that any straighter player like me desires in their arsenal. So, let's take a closer look at why the Equinox Solid belongs in your arsenal. The Solarion +A.I. Core was developed in the original Equinox, and from the beginning, the Solarion + A.I. Core proved to be a strong and continuous core that devastated your THS. Now, inside the Equinox Solid, it appeared to me that the Solarion + A.I. Core had become significantly more explosive and alive for my straighter game. Whether it is the combination of the new A2S coverstock or not, I found the Solarion +A.I. Core to read seamlessly in the mid-lane, and had a crisp motion off the pattern. I liked that the Solarion +A.I. Core doesn't "wobble" because of my lower-rev rate, and I enjoyed the confidence the Solarion +A.I. Core gave me to strike as I watched the Equinox Solid fiercely stand up off the pattern, and then gave me the hard-rolling continuation I needed to kick out the corner pins. As a straighter player, I depend on consistency, power, and continuation to keep my game in play, and Solarion + A. I. Core certainly delivered in the Equinox Solid, so straighter players - pay attention! The Solarion +A.I. Core will bring you results. The new A2S Solid Reactive Coverstock on the Equinox Solid for a straighter player like me is simply outstanding! With the factory 2000-grit Abralon surface, the Equinox Solid lit up the lanes for me from my first roll. I loved the smooth, predictable traction the A2S gave me in the mid-lanes. Further, when a solid coverstock generates a crisp, angular motion off the pattern, especially on a big asymmetrical ball, it is a straighter player's dream come true! Further, one of the best features I found in the A2S solid coverstock is its overall texture. The A2S Solid Coverstock is not "chalky" or so porous that the Equinox Solid will only last for game one; instead, with its well-blended composition, the A2S Solid Coverstock delivered a consistent and predictable motion for my straighter game all night. Storm says the A2S Solid is part of their evolving "Adhesion System technology." Well, if the A2s is part of that evolving technology, I can't imagine what the future holds, because the A2S Solid Coverstock is fantastic for a straighter player like me. In closing, I found the new Equinox Solid to be an outstanding new ball release by Storm. The Solarion + A.I. Core will bring any straighter player the power and continuation they seek, and the A2S Solid coverstock will provide the traction, shape, and precision straighter players rely on. So, if you're a straighter player like me, the Equinox Solid makes a great choice. The Equinox Solid is like an Ion Pro on steroids, but with its own unique dynamics that set it apart from the rest of the competition. It hooks!
Its coming!! The Cherry Apple Slush fragrance shouldn't be the only reason to buy this ball lol. Storm had a way with the Original Equinox Pearl, and now the Equinox Solid rips up the lanes. Still has the Solarion A.I. Core and now with the Adhesion System Technology - A2S cover. This ball is outstanding on the lanes. To watch this ball go down the lanes, its shape and motion is something to watch with this ball. Of coarse it needs oil, I'm slowly throwing mine to get some lane a little lane shine on it. Its getting predictable, rolls great, reads the back end, and fun to watch! .....It's coming, for you people who are looking, be prepared! It's coming!!

Storm Equinox Solid Review
The Storm Equinox Solid pairs the A2S Solid Reactive coverstock with the Solarion A.I. Core and a 2000-grit Abralon finish to create a motion that delivers a rounded, slower, and continuous motion — perfect for bowlers who need a smooth midlane read without the sharp downlane pop of stronger, more responsive pieces. Its shape is rounded rather than flippy, allowing it to blend wet-dry conditions effectively while maintaining strong and continuation through the pocket. In overall strength, it sits below the Hyperdrive and Ion Max, aligning more closely with the X-Cell in power but offering a smoother and less angular motion downlane, making it an ideal choice when you need a controlled, stable reaction. Another home run from Storm! Tobias Myers #Stormnation

The EquinoX Solid has been specifically designed to fit between the Ion Max and EquinoX. It features the new A2S solid cover with a 2000 Abralon finish and the Solarion A.I. core. The cover/core combination will generate maximum hook potential with an angular downlane motion, which will make it uniquely dynamic. The EquinoX Solid gave me a great look sliding on 25, looking 16 at the arrows with my breakpoint around 9-10. There is a drastic over/under on our current league pattern and it did an excellent job blending it out and providing me with a more consistent reaction. When compared to the Ion Max, the EquinoX Solid cleared the fronts better and provided a stronger change in direction off the end of the pattern. The EquinoX Solid will be earlier than the original and be a great choice when the EquinoX is going too long. When the Ion Max starts to quit downlane, it will be the perfect ball to go to on medium/heavy to heavy lane conditions, especially in tournament play. Within my bag, it will be a step down from the Ion Max, but above the Ion Pro Solid and EquinoX. Stop by your local Storm VIP pro shop to check it out! Available on October 17th. Great Shape with good control
The EquinoX Solid is a bold step in the solid reactive category—Storm clearly designed it to push boundaries, combining strong traction with angular backend motion. If you fit the profile (mid/high rev, willing to tune, dealing with heavier patterns), it’s a very exciting tool to have in your bag. I’d rate it A+ as a high-performance solid, especially for bowlers who want to “go deeper” on fresh oil and demand more shape. It’s not a universal solution, but in its zone it has real potential to elevate your game.

Equinox Solid
The Storm Equinox Solid Bowling Ball with a 4x4x4 layout offers a great balance of control and strong backend motion. The solid reactive coverstock grips the lane well, especially on medium to heavy oil conditions, making it a reliable choice for league or tournament play. The 4x4x4 layout gives it a smooth, consistent mid-lane read with a strong but controllable backend finish. Perfect for bowlers looking for a dependable benchmark ball that reads early and finishes strong.

Equinox Solid
RICO Layout The Equinox Solid features the A2S Solid cover wrapped around the Solarion + AI Core. I drilled this ball Rico to combat wet dry conditions at my local center. This layout on a strong asymmetrical ball gives me a smooth controllable reaction that will not over react if I miss left or right. Although this is not a traditional layout for me this ball fills the gap between my Ion Max and Rockstar. If your looking for a strong asym solid this may be the ball for you. Bonus points on how great it smells as well.
