This ball is amazing it's very aggressive but also very controllable I drilled mine 5 x 4 x 3. It's my league ball of choice between this is the phaze 2 to me its stronger than the phaze 2 but very similar

The Bionic gives me that little extra length I need when the asymmetrical balls wont allow me to get through the heads later in league play. On fresh I can still open the lanes up a bit but the ball can be a little speed sensitive to start. I can play multiple angles with ease. And just focus on making quality shots. The Bionic gives that iconic Storm shape everybody loves to see down lane! I highly recommend this ball to many bowlers as this will be one of those eye grabbing pin hopping balls. Dual Angle: 55 x 4 1/2 x 25 Storm Vector: 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 1 3/4 The Storm Bionic features the NRG™ Hybrid cover stock wrapped around the Torsion™ A.I. Core. This ball looks good, smells good, and rolls GOOD. This ball is much stronger than I anticipated but what do you expect from the little brother of the Ion Max. This ball really gets into a heavy roll and just crushes the pins.

Drilling pattern: 4 3/8” pin to PAP with a 2 5/8” pin buffer. PAP: 4.5 over x 1 up. Pin position: Above and slightly right of my bridge. I’ve personally been looking for a suitable ZEN SOUL replacement for a couple of years and I think I may have finally found it. The STORM BIONIC provides everything the ZEN SOUL did, with just a little more aggression. The cover stock seems to be a touch stronger but still has the same great down lane motion. I used this ball on both a THS as well as the 2025 USBC OC pattern and the conclusion was the same. The ball has enough teeth to dig in the oil, but the core retains enough energy to make a very strong motion down lane. This ball fits perfectly when there is some carry down and you need to start opening your angles and playing through the oil in the middle of the lane. Not surprised to see Kris Prather with an entire arsenal of Bionic’s at the Pete Weber PBA stop. First off this ball surprised us with how strong it is. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). This is stronger with more backend than a Phaze II. Honestly, it shapes a lot like the Origin with a smoother and more controllable start through the front and mid parts of the lane. For the price point this is a great buy. Probably one of the strongest symmetrical hybrids that SPI has ever put out. We see this piece being a first or second out of bag. Once the front part of the lanes starts to get beat up this ball will start to read quite early. We have been opening up with this ball before transitioning to an IQ AI or next factor. I chose to start my reviews with the new Bionic. The bionic continues the great success of the Ion Series of balls. The Bionic features the Torsion AI core which is an evolution of the Element Max™ Core featured in the ion max. This symmetric slightly lower diff core is teamed up with the NRG Hyrbrid cover. The combination creates a great gap filler when you need to transition away from the balls that had a more aggressive mid-lane read. I tested the Bionic on our house-shot after it had a session of senior bowling league. This is usually a great indication of mid-league transition on my normal leagues. My first impressions were that the ball was a little smoother than I had expected. I still didn't have issues with carry, and I didn't feel like I needed to manipulate the ball much to get it to go through the pins. The Bionic was very consistant. I had a pretty good amount of area to miss in or out and still carry. When I threw a comparison ball it gave me a little better idea of the lane conditions. My Phaze II picked up almost immediately and looked much flatter in the back-end which indicated that there was more wear on the lanes than I had initially thought. This made me appreciate how great this ball would look as a transition piece off of the stronger balls, particuarly the ones with earlier covers. I threw my Vengeance as well and it was even earlier and slower down-lane. The amount of transiton that I was seeing would normally be an indication of my need to go to cleaner balls with higher RG's like balls in the Road line or even down to something like a hustle. I moved further left to see how the bionic would handle covering more boards and I definitely hit a wall. There was too much early friction so when I pushed it right it couldn't recover and when I tried to keep the break-point in it would read the front of the lane too hard. I wouldn't take this as anything disparaging about the Bionic, it's not a ball designed to deal with excessive friction, if so it wouldn't be as usable on fresher conditions. The bionic is enough ball to be a first ball for people with higher revs or lower ball speed like myself. It stays in play really well in the transtion which is where most people who are a little more speed/rev matched will like it best. The Storm Bionic is a strong, versatile piece that fits beautifully into a serious tournament arsenal. Drilled 5 x 3, this layout gives me excellent length through the heads while still maintaining a smooth, controlled motion down lane. The NRG Hybrid cover keeps the ball clean through the front part of the lane without burning up early, and the Torsion AI Core provides that predictable, continuous motion off the breakpoint. It’s not overly jumpy — just a strong, smooth arc that blends wet/dry really well. This ball is a perfect addition to the Storm Tournament Collection from Storm Products. It fills that benchmark/transition slot nicely and gives you confidence when the lanes start to change. It’s also an awesome complement to my Roto Grip Transformer — giving me a slightly cleaner look with that smooth, continuous finish when I need a different shape.

Storm Bionic 70x5x40. Symmetrical hybrid. This ball is so versatile and will fit perfectly in just about everyone's bag whether you are a league bowler or tournament bowler. It is very predictable and continuous. It blends out the lane perfectly. It reminds me of the Zen Soul which is a ball that I used a lot when I needed to go to something I could trust. I anticipate being able to use this Bionic on any pattern potentially on the fresh and throughout transition. It is clean but still picks up exactly where it needs to. I threw it first on a fresh Red Square dead flat pattern and Bionic had absolutely no issues digging through the oil and continuing as I got left and opened up my angles. Release date 2/27/26. Now onto my review portion of this ball. When I heard there was a new “ION” ball coming out I was as excited as can be. I have loved all the ION’s of the past, but what was different about this one was it is the first Symmetrical ION and comes as a Hybrid. I have been using the Equinox Solid as my first ball out of the bag on a fresh condition and I decided to test them out side by side. What we saw was that the Equinox Solid would dig into the lane earlier but the Bionic was very easy to get through the fronts but had the same back end reaction. Both balls get to the same place down lanes and have the same strength so I don’t see where a player would need both in the bag. Here is my review of the STORM Bionic.  1st and foremost, I absolutely love hybrids.  The 900 Global Cove and Viking are two essential balls for my tournament arsenal. The Bionic fits right in the middle of these two.  Bionic: Coverstock: NRG Hybrid Reactive Weight Block: Torsion A.I. Core Factory Finish: 4000 Abralon Flare Potential: Medium-High Radius of Gyration (RG): 14lbs - 2.48 Differential (Diff): 14lbs - 0.047 Fragrance: Cherry Cobbler When I first read that this ball “fits” almost all oil patterns, I was very doubtful.  I thought, how can this ball cut through the fresh and maintain its strength in the later blocks?  Then I saw this ball had the NRG Hybrid Coverstock.  Some of the previous balls that had this coverstock were the Physix and the All Road.  Both were excellent balls.  I decided to drill using the dual angle measurement: 40 x 4.5 x 20.  First impression:  This ball is clean through the heads and is strong on the backend.  For a guy who doesn’t have much hand, this was very surprising.  Honestly, seeing this is a symmetrical piece, I was expecting a rounder shape.  Every time I could use this ball, whether it was testing or bowling league, I could not go up the boards for it was that strong off the end of the pattern.  This is great in a way because I do get to avoid the “track” and can stay in the oil much longer.  Once this ball encounters friction, it tends to move to the left.  I can see bowlers using this as a benchmark ball to read an oil pattern.  It is great on a fresh, typical house shot.  When you have a transition, you can move left easily, and this ball will retain energy.  I did try it on two challenge patterns that had lighter oil (23mL and 25mL), and while this ball does work on those patterns, you must rely on speed and/or keeping it in the oil.  The Bionic takes well to surface changes. I took the surface to 3000 off a resurfacer, and this ball impressed me. Still got the length I desired, but not as sharp a backend as a box finish. Now that the ball has lane shine (after 15 games), it is getting sharper and sharper. Overall, this ball is one of the better symmetrical releases from Storm.

The Storm Bionic is my go to ball for league. I have always liked NRG and Micro Trax coverstocks and this ball is no different. I get a very strong and predictable motion. For me this ball is the perfect amount of length and angle. My carry percentage is through the roof due to the angle and continuation that this ball has. I managed to shoot 300 with it the last night game 1. This is one of those balls that you can throw all 3 games. As you move left and get around it, the ball becomes more responsive. I can’t wait to get this ball on a sport pattern and see what kind of results I can get from it.

Well, it is tournament season, and wanted to test out the 1st new addition to the SPI 2026 Tournament Edition, the Storm Bionic! My layout is 5 x 4 x 2 (50 x 5 x 30 using the dual angle layout). This is an updated hybrid symmetrical version of the Ion Pro. The Bionic is very versatile to start on the fresh and for transition! It provides me a great amount of length, a quick yet, predictable response off the friction and energy going through the pins. If you are a fan of the Ion series, this will be a great ball to transition from the Ion Max, and is a step up from the Ion Pro Solid. This ball can be very responsive off the friction, so it does provide some good backend off the friction. I can use this during transition from balls like the Ion Max, Vengeance and/or Transformer to find that balance of predictable motion that I like.

Core - Storm Torsion AI Core RG - 2.47, Diff - .050 NRG Hybrid Coverstock 4000 Grit Layout 4 x 4.5 x 2.5 Out of the box the Bionic is a 4000 grit hybrid coverstock designed to be a symmetrical piece that can handle any condition and any bowler. My expectations for the Bionic was to be a go to benchmark piece that could be under the Vengeance. I was skeptical at first with the 4000 surface but I was not disappointed. The Bionic did lane shine rather quickly but I did not experience any changes in performance. First night on the lanes I was able to use the Bionic for all three games rolling a 685 out of the box. BALL OF THE YEAR??? Wow, this ball is the perfect benchmark controllable all purpose ball for most bowlers. From the design to the roll, this ball has it all. This is the one that you will be seeing all over, don’t miss out, I’m sure glad I drilled this one. I drilled it with a 4 inch pin. It is stronger than my Ion Hybrid in the mid lane, and continues through the pin deck. This ball just doesn’t quit! I love mine. Perfect for the league night and for the tournament bag = WIN WIN!

The Bionic seems like it has some superpowers inside of it. The lower RG and higher Diff really give this ball a different look than most. I threw it two shots in practice and decided not to use it to start the night but towards the end of game 1 the lanes got a little weird to me, so I said why not give it a shot. The first ball of game 2 it jumped through the face and left a 4-10. I made a minor adjustment off of that and proceeded to throw the next 6 in a row before I left a 9 pin. I even had a 9 pin standing and a pin came and smacked it out in the string of 6 in a row. I used the ball all the way up until game 3 frame 4. The ball motion just wowed me especially at 4000 grit and I am normally not a huge fan of hybrid coverstocks.
