Storm Absolute Bowling Ball

Our history has led up to where we are now. Absolute combines over 20 years of proven and trusted technology.

In most cases, an extra slug, or weighted disk, is needed to create enhanced dynamics, but the evenly weighted masses at both ends of the Sentinel Core upgrades this effect more than a single slug ever could. This ensures the Absolute will change direction and continue through the pins better and more consistently. This is the first single-density asymmetric core in the Storm line since the Lucid. The R&D team has also reduced the amount of weight block mass near the area where the thumb hole is typically placed. The inward angled edges increase the intermediate differential prior to drilling and allows the dynamic integrity to be preserved after drilling because the thumb hole misses the weight block. The extra intermediate differential makes the Absolute respond to friction on the lane more effectively and won’t miss the spot.

The new High Performance ball in the Storm Premier line is the Absolute. The Absolute has a brand new Core design (Sentinel) and a new coverstock ( R2S Deep Hybrid. Numbers are RG 2.48, Diff 0.050 Intermediate Diff 0.21. On paper this ball looks to be a little early and strong. I drilled the first one with a little too strong of MB. So I drilled another one with a weaker MB like 5.5 inches. (4.5 x 5.5 x 2) This ball is pretty surprising to me for an Asymmetrical Pearl. It was really pretty clean through the fronts for a lower RG core. I did sand the cover and add Storm Step 2. The Absolute still handles the league puddle very well, and still has plenty of response down lane. For me it really shined on the sport patterns. I added a light 2000 pad to help blend it out a little. For me it is a unique shape but a good one at that. When the Big solid Asyms start to bog down like the Gems, Proton or Reality's the Absolute is the ball to go to. Still stronger than the Revenants , Fate and IQ Ruby. From the reports from the PBA Storm staffers, they really like the Absolute especially with all the rev rates on tour tearing up the fronts. Great job from Alex and Hank at the Storm plant! This ball is a monster. The Absolute features the new R2S deep cover which is a new cover to the storm lineup. This cover is cleaner than the original R2S which is seen on the Hy-Road Pearl. Once I knocked the cover with 2000 to get it to pick up sooner this ball was everything I needed. It provided plenty of shape in the mid lane and tons of continuation through the pins. First night out the box, I went 752 and the look I had was unbelievable. The amount of force this goes through the pins is unbelievable. Even with my 300 rev rate I was able to throw a couple messengers. I see this ball being a versatile option either on fresh or transition on house and on transition on sport. When the stronger solids start to burn up and I still need that strong asym I will jump into the Absolute. This ball is going to be very popular!

The Storm Absolute is the newest asymmetrical hybrid in the Premier line. It features the new Sentinel Core which yields an RG of 2.48, Diff of 0.050 and PSA of 0.021 and is wrapped around the all new R2S Deep Hybrid cover. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x. 2 and I was pleasantly surprised by this ball. Normally I rarely find a asymmetrical shinny ball that I’m able to use a ton of because being of the left side and having a higher ball speed I typically don’t ever get into the stronger asymmetrical shinny balls but this one is totally different. For me its not overly strong like say a Infinite Physix or RST X-3 but it’s stronger than the Zen’s and Phaze’s. It’s very clean for an asymmetrical but doesn’t lose that pop on the backend. This ball bridges the gap between the balls like Eternity, Infinite Physix and the Zen line. Your defiantly not going to want to miss out on this one.

Layout: 50 x 4 ½ x 40 The core and cover combination of the Absolute allows it to have a very unique ball reaction; even though the core is quite strong, the R2S deep allows the ball to float through the midlane without over-reacting. It has some midlane read, but does not jump when it first sees friction. In fact, on a house shot, this ball allows me to miss a couple boards right without the ball over-reading. For me, the optimal lane condition for the Absolute is pure medium oil, but it has uses on a variety of conditions. In medium-heavy oil conditions on higher friction surfaces, the core will be enough to motor this ball through the pattern. In medium-lighter conditions on lower friction surfaces, the weaker cover will make this ball a great choice. Due to the coverstock, this ball is weaker overall than balls such as the Exotic Gem or Infinite Physix.

Out of Box ball motion is clean through the fronts with a smooth motion on the backend. I took a 2k and 3k Abralon afterwards and it was still clean through the fronts with a stronger continuous backend motion. I compared this to the Storm Proton Physix and the Roto Grip Exotic Gem. Storm Proton PhysiX starts up earlier in the mid lane and is 2-3 stronger, Exotic Gem 1-1 stronger. If you are looking for an Asym Hybrid that gets length and strong backend this is the piece to have in the bag.

It features a new core and R2S Hybrid Deep. The cover is VERY clean and responsive. Thankfully the new Sentinel cover is very strong and immediately creates a strong midlane so it doesn’t over shoot the spot. In fact the Absolute rolls so strong in the mids that it still feels like a bigger ball to me that has a little more backend off the spot. And since the Absolute is a hybrid it does that hybrid thing. It’s clean, but not too clean. It’s jerky but not too jerky. It’s right in the middle of reaction and if that’s what you’re looking for this ball is a no brainer. It feels a lot like a smoother Code Black, very similar to a Code Red.

Storm's brilliant combination of Sentinel Core and R2S Deep Hybrid coverstock makes the Absolute a strong, powerful striking machine! And with its cutting-edge design, the Absolute produced some fantastic results. So, let's take a closer look at what makes the Absolute a "must-have" powerhouse! From my first roll with the Absolute, I was highly impressed with the Sentinel Core. First, I loved how the Sentinel Core makes it turn off the pattern decisively. Unlike other asymmetric cores that tend to be lazy and take their time to "stand up" and roll. The Sentinel Core reacted crisply off the pattern without being overzealous or erratic. And being a straighter player, I enjoyed the Sentinel's strong angular predictability. Not only could I open up my angles on fresh oil, but the Sentinel Core made me look like I could put my hand in the ball! And lastly, the Sentinel Core makes the Absolute roll with conviction. The Sentinel Core has a powerful impact at the pocket and an impressive continuation that clears the deck without compromise. Those who read my reviews know I am a huge fan of Hybrid Coverstocks on a THS. And the R2S Deep Hybrid delivers results a THS player can count on! First, on fresh conditions, I like how the R2S cuts a clean path through the heads and goes through the front part of the lane without hesitation. And as the Absolute entered the hook phase, I liked how the R2S Deep Hybrid started to bite through the mid-section without causing the Absolute to labor as it entered the roll phase. And as the Absolute turned off the pattern, I liked how the R2S created a brisk resolute motion toward the pocket. I could count on the R2S to be decisive and predictable without being "jumpy" or over-sensitive as the pattern breaks down and goes away. The factory Reacta Gloss on the Absolute worked well in most conditions I bowled in. However, being a straighter, high-speed, low-rev player surface is my best friend. So, I took my factory Absolute and hit it with Storm, step #2 compound (320-1500 grit), yes – step #2! And talk about coming alive! I thoroughly enjoyed bowling game three, playing deep and targeting the third arrow. It was fun to watch the Absolute turn left off the pattern and carry with a swirling pin action even when my execution was out totally out of my comfort zone! In conclusion, Storm has created a huge success with the creation of the Absolute! With its Sentinel Core and the R2S Deep Hybrid Coverstock, the Absolute is an excellent ball for a straighter, high-speed, low-rev player like me! The Absolute features the Sentinal core with the R2S coverstock. It also comes out of the factory at Storms new Reacta Gloss finish. In 15lbs the Absolute comes with an RG of 2.48 a Differential of 0.50 and an Intermediate diff of 0.21. With these core number being slightly higher on both the diff and intermediate diff and lower on the RG it means that this is a pretty aggressive core. The lower RG will make it wanna see the lanes a lot more front to back and left to right while the diff is making it a little higher on the flare potential side which makes this ball a hook monster core wise…. Except it is wrapped with the R2S Deep cover which up until now has only been seen overseas. The R2S deep cover is very similar to R2S just overall it’s a little bit cleaner. So that makes the reaction of the absolute a little bit more unique. It has the torque of most high end balls like the Exotic Gem and the Infinite Physix except with R2S Deep it is making it a lot cleaner which allows you to play the track of the lane a little bit longer without it wanting to hook to early on you. The closest ball to this in my memory was the AstroPhysix and if you liked that ball then chances are you will love the Absolute. I recommend getting yourself one you will not be disappointed!

This ball motion has been missing in the line since the discontinuation of the Lucid. With the hybrid cover stock this ball offers great mid lane roll with plenty of backend pop going through the pins. It’s really hard to compare this ball to something else in the line with it’s unique core. I find myself having this ball in my bag for a long time. This ball is the first out of my bag on league night. With its great versatility any bowler will be able to pick this ball up and enjoy throwing it. One of the things that really stuck out to me was the versatility of this ball. You can shine it up for more angle down lane or knock the polish off and get the ball to read a little earlier if need be. This is a great all around ball and is a must in everyone’s bag. Such a unique ball reaction being a asymmetrical ball. With the 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 x 3 it puts the pin above my ring finger and the mass bias in my thumb. For me its not a ball I can stand right throw left which is what I have been looking for where I bowl at in the Northern California due to it being more on the light oil side. The Absolute for me has some IQ tour solid vibes being its not jumpy off the spot, very good control but can handle more oil than a IQ. The Absolute I am able to stand 5-8 boards left than my other balls like the super nova and proton physix which is crazy to think about also being a asymmetrical ball but due its design intent I can actually go to the Absolute after a proton physix or super nova. I can stand about 20 comfortably for almost 3 games and just move my eyes if needed. If I do need to move it would be 2 boards with the same shot down lane and im good to go. As long as you get it to the friction early enough the ball rolls ABSOLUTELY awesome! Great ball for league. Looking into getting another one that’s drilled a lil bit stronger to have for more oil yet still have control. Garrett Richardson Storm Amateur Staff

This ball took a little time to for me to understand. The motion is greatly different than anything else we have in the line. I messed around with surfaces for a while until I matched up with one. Out of the box I was not a fan. The ball was SUPER clean and once it hit the spot it went sideways. I needed it to be much sooner so I hit it with a 1500 pad. I used it there for a while, but It gave me a motion where I preferred the balls around it. I later hit it with a 3000 pad and BOOM, there it was. It then gave me a motion that was EXACTLY what I needed. I was able to start the night with it, playing straighter and continue chasing it left. Some nights I even loft the cap with it and it never hooks early and still peels off the spot. This new core and cover combo really allows the PSO to fine tune reaction with layout but it never hooks and bails! For me, Misunderstood at first but now its LOVE! This ball is becoming a league shot favorite of mine because when the bigger balls are too much for a house shot this ball seems to blend it out and check all the right boxes. I have been trying to start on a THS with the Revenant, but find that I have to force that ball. I did knock the shine off with a 2000k pad and I think that is helping the blend that I see. I will be doing that again to the Revenant as it has lane shined up and having trouble with it. I would say that the Absolute is a good ball and I think it fairs better on the THS as on a sport condition I think there are better options to throw than the Absolute. Again, not every ball will match up to your game and that’s why if there is ever a ball demo or Storm Matchmaker in your area it would be wise to get out there and throw the balls to get an idea as to what that ball will do for you and your game. It not only has a great name, logo, and colorway, but we have been long awaiting a Hybrid Asymmetrical ball from Storm, not to mention the intriguing new DEEP Hybrid cover. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). This ball gives off Intense Fire vibes in the shape and ball motion for us. The first main difference between the two is CLEANliness! Yes, this ball is probably the cleanest BIG ball from SPI we’ve ever thrown. It also has a very dynamic turn off the spot created with the Sentinel core. The Absolute fits perfectly in between a Super Nova or Gem and the IQ line. Storm has been long overdue for an asymmetrical hybrid cover so this will fit in just about anyone’s bag. It could be that first out of bag or that in between ball when the lanes start to transition away from needing a big asymmetrical solid. The Storm Absolute uses the new Sentinel Core and R2S Deep Hybrid Coverstock. This cover is one of the cleanest I’ve ever seen on an asymmetric ball. It clears the front part of the lane, with enough energy to control the back part of the lane. Now as a 2 hander, I have trouble finding asymmetric balls that roll good for me. But after the first game or two with The Absolute, I couldn’t put the ball down. Very predictable backend and for those high rev players; it controls the midlane very well. This ball fits just below my Storm Nova and above my 900 Global Reality Check. I recommend this ball to anyone in the market for a strong pearl. This is the one for you! The R2S deep is cleaner than other iterations of R2S and creates a strong aggressive shape downlane. The box surface is reacta gloss but if you want it to pick up a little sooner step two compound is a great way to shine it. The cover is also going to allow for surface changes very easily. When you compare this ball to the Infinite Physix, this ball is going to be longer downlane with more shape also. The Storm Absolute features an all new Sentinel core with a new R2S Deep Hybrid coverstock finished with Reacta gloss. The Absolute in 15 lbs features a low RG of 2.48 with a diferential of .050 and an intermediate diff of .020. I put my go to layout of 5 x 4 x 2 in my Absolute which puts the pin just above my ring finger. The first night I threw the Absolute in league, I shot 750 with it bowling on your traditional house pattern which after a game and a half becomes very cliffed. The Absolute allowed me to make small parallel moves the whole night and keep my angles closed and stay in the tighter part of the lane. On my errant shots to the right, the ball made it back to the pocket but would often leave weak 10 pins. I tried a surface adjustment and hit it with 2000 grit to take the shine off to see the difference. To me the only big difference I saw was the errant shots to the right didn’t make it back to the pocket, they would leave a 2 pin or 2-10. I didn’t really see much difference when I kept the ball in the oil. Both surfaces read the lane equally well. This is a ball that has a lot of versatility built in to it, and the bowler can play around with surface changes to find the reaction they are looking for.

It features the R2S Deep hybrid cover, which is supposed to be cleaner through the front part of the lanes compared to the R2S formula found on balls like Hyroad Pearl and Phaze V. Essentially, this helps to create a more aggressive shape into the pocket with increased angle through the pins. The engine driving the Absolute is the new Sentinel core, which is a single density core with no flip block and a shape that limits the amount of material removed from the core during drilling which preserves the core and ball dynamics. This also helps the Absolute respond to friction more effectively and consistently. Prior to throwing the Absolute for the first time, I lightly scuffed the surface with a 3000-grit Abralon pad by hand as I’ve done on most factory-shined balls. Even with the light scuff, my first impressions were that the Absolute was undoubtedly one of the cleanest balls I’ve ever thrown. So much so, that I generally found it to be inconsistent. Even after another scuff by hand, the Absolute was still extremely clean but it wasn’t reading the mid-lane as much as I would have liked. Therefore, I resurfaced it on a ball spinner with 500-1000-3000 grit Abralon pads and have let it lane shine from there. Since then, the reaction has been much improved; it’s still clean up front and sharp downlane, but much more stable and controllable in the mid-lane. The Storm Absolute is a great ball with aging lane surfaces in many bowling centers. It’s going to be a great choice for league bowlers on medium to lighter volume house patterns, and a good option to transition to in tournament play. It bridges the gap between bigger asymmetrical balls like a Super Nova or Infinite PhysiX and symmetrical balls like Phaze V or Hyroad. Also, don’t be afraid to adjust the surface on your Absolute if you’re not quite seeing what you want – it takes very well to surface adjustments even though it comes shiny from the factory. It’s ABSOLUTELY a great addition to the Storm line! Chris Pollentier Storm Products Pro Shop Staff #StormNation

Layout: 4.5 x 3 x 2 Surface: Reacta Gloss Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 8* Speed: 17mph The New Storm Absolute brings a brand-new core and coverstock to the Storm family. The new Sentinel Core brings the ability to keep overall intermediate differential after drilling allowing the ball to still read the lane strong in the midlane and create a lot of flare down lane. The new R2S Deep coverstock provides a cleaner and more angular reaction compared to the original R2S pearl coverstock. The combination of these two features gives a clean and angular motion with a strong midlane read. What I found with my Absolute was exactly what was expected. On my typical 44ft house shot I saw a lot of overall length with a sharp backend reaction. On the fresh of this pattern, it was a little too clean causing an over/under reaction. After 2 games of transition, I went back to the Absolute and I saw a perfect reaction through the pins. It allowed me to move a few boards left with my feet after an Infinite Physix and open up my angles to see a strong and angular backend motion. It was hard to get this ball to not hook super well on the pattern on the break down. If you have higher ball speed or lower rev rates and need an angular asymmetrical ball, the Absolute is your ball. If this a ball you prefer to use on the fresh, you may need to remove the reacta gloss for a stronger and smoother ball reaction. For tournament play, I can see myself using this ball later in the block when asymmetrical is still needed in such patterns that are medium to long and have higher volumes of oil.

The R2S Deep hybrid is a very clean cover. R & D developed a brand new core called sentinel to team up with this cover. Sentinel has a very unique shape designed to allow the thumb hole to miss the core for most drillings. The core design has an increased intermediate differential, increasing the balls response to friction. The combination of the core and cover in this ball create a clean, powerful reaction. R2S Deep is phenomenal at ignoring early friction on the lane. This is definitely an innovation at the top end of hook potential as even the cleanest high performance balls would struggle to clear the fronts compared to this one. Another great characteristic of the Absolute is how adjustable it is. Adding surface to the R2S Deep can make it much stronger in the oil, but the coverstock formulation seems to keep it from losing that cleaner characteristic in comparison to other balls when you add surface. So you can upgrade the mid-lane motion without having to worry too much about the ball burning up. I first tested the Absolute on our high volume house pattern. The first time I took it out was for a prebowl for league. There was a lot of down-lane hang on the freshly oiled pair we used. I wasn't having much luck in practice with getting anything back when I sent it right down-lane, but trying to square the ball up more felt very tricking because it would see the friction in the track and want to start up too soon. I tried the Absolute and found that I could be in a bit more and straighten the angle up to keep the ball from getting too far right. The Absolute responded beautifully, ignoring the higher friction in the track in the front of the lane. It also created a strong motion in the shorter window down-lane as I wasn't getting the ball too far right of the pocket. The result gave me an initial impression that this ball wasn't too strong down-lane and would look better at straighter angles. I decided to throw it again on my next league night a few days later, and I'm glad I did. I hadn't realized how much the specific condition the first time out had shaped my impressions of the ball. The backends were much cleaner this night and my Absolute was very strong in the back-end. I still had the clean, easy length but the ball could go much more left to right compared to the first time I'd used it and had no issue making it back to the pocket. The versatility of finding a look I really liked with this ball on both of the lane conditions makes me excited to throw this ball more on a variety of conditions. It's already pretty much a lock to make it into my bag for nationals this year. This ball definitely belongs in the tournament bag. To my eyes its cleaner than all the other Premier line balls currently available. It's cleaner and still more controllable down-lane than the Dark Code. It seem to be effective from whatever angle you choose to use it at, which means it should match up with a wide range of styles. Storm Absolute – all new Sentinel Core with the R2S DEEP coverstock – Box finish is with Reacta Gloss My specs: Ball speed 15+, Rev rate 425, PAP 4 and up 13/16 Layout: 60 x 6 x 65 refinished with 2000ab, used on SPL and HPL lane surfaces with Typical house pattern – both with a BIG cliff on the end of the pattern. First impression was “why do I need another asymmetrical ball”. My next impression was – why did I wait to so long to really dig into this ball, the Storm Absolute! As I stated earlier, I changed the surface because I noticed with the new Sentinel core and updated R2S coverstock – that the ball was a little late in reaction when I tried to swing the lane as much as I could, which is something I normally would have to do with strong asymmetrical balls like the Astro Physix, Parallax, and the Code series. Both the brains at Storm Bowling found that if you put evenly weight parts on the core at both ends, to me, that would cause the cover to remain unstable almost like if you added a weight puck on the core. By updating the very successful R2S with the DEEP update, which basically means that Storm made the cover for consistence because they made the additives all equal and balanced in amounts used. (More technical information at stormbowling.com) Back to on the regularly scheduled ball review, sorry – Got a little nerdy there! I realized watching a wide range of styles using the Storm Absolute during several Storm Matchmaker events, that the straighter you played, the better the Absolute worked and produced better overall carry and striking percentages. So, at a demo, I used the pro shop’s ball spinner and hit the surface with a fresh 2000ab pad and proceeded to play very straight up the track on the SPL that was there. The Absolute was no joke on worn out, beat up, no fresh oil in 2 days lanes that I practiced and bowled on a few days later. I was still able to play very straight forward up the track area and the Absolute moved a little earlier than the Exotic GEM and with a little more angle into the pocket. I feel that if you try to “hook” the whole, this ball would not be a good fit as a middle road/ “benchmark” ball. Like I said a little bit earlier – the straighter you play, the better the Storm Absolute is. The Absolute will travel with me in my tournament bag as ball #4 in the strength department. I hope you found this interesting and informative. Thanks to the crew at Bowlers' Supply, Inc, Roto Grip, Colony Park Lanes and Vise Inserts for all the support and assistance! Storm Absolute Coverstock: R2S Deep Hybrid Reactive Finish: Reacta Gloss Core: Sentinel RG: 2.48 Differential: 0.050 Int Diff: 0.021 Layout: 5 x 4 x 4 - 2LS Layout Extras: 2 1/8 Finger Depth, "X" - 4 1/2 D and 1 Inch Left Tester: PAP 6 1/2 R, 1 1/4 D Review: The Absolute is the first single-density asymmetric core in the Storm line since the Lucid. The extra intermediate differential makes the Absolute respond to friction on the lane more effectively and won’t miss the spot. Storm designates DEEP as Delayed Energy for Enhanced Performance. The Absolute is an all new asymmetric design for 2023. My first impression OOB is the Absolute is indeed very clean through the front part of the lane. Also, the ball did show nice continuation as advertised. For me, I liked the OOB finish, but may touch up slightly with a 3K or 4K pad as I roll it more. Overall, I see this as a nice transition piece as breakdown of the lanes occur. The only ball with a similar comparison I have is the Infinite Physix. The Absolute defintely clears the front part of the lane more which I'm ok with. For me, its always easier to take surface down but I like the built in length to work from due to my slower ball speed. I do feel both balls can be in your arsenal as well. The Infinite Physix is a great all around asym ball which has been noted by many sources. The Absolute off the spot continues nicely and I'm excited to see how far this ball can go. If you are looking for the latest in technology be sure check out the Absolute. This ball is going to turn some heads. Be sure to grab yours today! Michael Slatky 900 Global Staff Member York, PA

I drilled my ABSOLUTE 5 x 3 x 2. I cracked the surface first with 3000 to remove the shine then hit it again with 1500 lightly to put some teeth on it. I have thrown on a couple of cliffed up house shots mainly. The ABSOLUTE gave a couple of ways to play this wet/dry pattern. I could go right up the edge of the cliff with softer speed and the ABSOLUTE would just roll off it and hit very well. When that went away, I started more up the back with slightly higher speed and now it came back to life as it cleared the now burnt fronts easier but still had plenty down lane. I compared it to the REVENANT and EXOTIC GEM. The EXOTIC was a lot more motion down lane and was almost uncontrollable playing where the ABSOLUTE looked so good at. If there was a need to get into the meat of the pattern, the EXOTIC would have been the better play. The REVENANT was just too clean to play in the burn like the up-the-back ABSOLUTE was. The REVENANT just was too late and made me move into the dry more and then was not enough when I blended left to get away from the early burn. Drill up an ABSOLUTE if you want a versatile piece that is a slight step down from the sharp motion of the EXOTIC GEM or a little more than an REVENANT.

Absolute - Ball Specs Cover Stock: R2S Deep Hybrid Reactive Cover Stock Finish: 3000 Grit Core: Ignition Core Layout: 50 x 5 x 40 RG: 2.48 Differential: 0.050 Intermediate Diff: .021 Review The Absolute is the latest addition to Storm’s Premier line and believe me this ball should absolutely be your bag. Storm has developed the all new Sentinel Core wrapped with the RS2 Deep hybrid cover. This will ensure the Absolute will change direction and continue through the pins with more power. I tested the Absolute on a 43 feet tournament pattern, I was able to play track area with great success. The Absolute consistently read the midlane and had a lot of energy on the backend for a continuous motion with great pin carry. This is a great ball for all levels of bowlers.
