The all new Tour Dynam-X is highly anticipated for every competitive bowler. It uses the Rondure Core wrapped around with Tour Trax solid which gives outstanding versatility and control. Unfortunately, I don’t think this is the urethane replacement most people were hoping it to be but don’t let that deter you away. My first impression it hooks much more than expected. It digs a good amount in the mid lane with a smooth but strong continuation. I compared to to my Reality and it’s been a great ball down choice once the Reality starts to burn up or when I need to play straighter. The Tour Dynam-x will always be in my bag whether it’s house shots or sport patterns I think that’s what makes it so good. I will say be careful will layouts and don’t go too crazy because i have my standard pin up on mine and when I start to get around the ball the track moves close to my thumb and fingers. The technical data has benchmark sport and house pattern ball written all over it. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). This ball is the lowest Diff and RG every created by Roto and for that reason really stands out not only in SPI but the entire bowling ball market. Pair that with the modified core seen in the Rubicon series and the TourTrax cover and you have a guaranteed winner. Comparing this ball to IQ Tour you will find it a touch later and more shape down lane, obviously created by the asymmetry of the core. On a fresh house pattern you will want to tighten up your line a bit but this in turn will still allow for some miss room. For all of these reasons this ball will fit into just about anyone’s bag whether you are a tournament player or just a fall & winter league bowler. Layout: 4 x 3.5 x 5.25 The Tour Dynam-X fills a spot in the SPI lineup that has been missing for a long time--probably not since the Zero Gravity has there been an asymmetric lower-to-mid-differential ball. Featuring the Tour Trax Solid Reactive cover and a modified version of the Rondure Core that was seen in the successful Rubicon series. The RG remains low (2.47 at 15 pounds), but the differential has been halved (.026--even lower than the IQ Tour), giving you the ultimate non-urethane control piece for your tournament arsenal. Compared to the IQ Tour (one of which I have drilled basically with the same layout), the Tour Dynam-X has a heavier roll in the mid-lane due to the earlier combination of the coverstock as well as the asymmetric core, with less of a radical change in direction in the back part of the lane. When the backend is crispier and more cliffed front-to-back, the Tour Dynam-x will make it easier to tame the last 20 feet of the lane and reduce the "surprising" through-the-face shots, especially on the fresh. The Tour Dynamix from Roto Grip is a brand new concept with the modified rondure core. It has a significantly lower differential and RG compared the the original core, which helps provide less flare and less overall hook. Wrapped in the new Tour-Trax solid coverstock, the Tour Dynamix gives a much more forgivable ball motion than other balls in the line-up. Compared to the IQ Tour, the TD creates more shape down lane and is not as early. The IQ Tour is a little bit rounder and earlier. I drilled both the TD and IQ Tour 3.75x4x4 2LS and both of these give me a very controllable motion down lane. The TD helps blend some of the over/under we see on house conditions and clipped sport patterns.

A super low diff @ .026, this ball is extremely controllable down lane and basically looks like a symmetrical solid. The slight asymmetry is something we’ve seen a little of before but this ball takes it to another level. This will be the first ball out of the bag for a lot of players. It will allow the higher rev rates to control the lane and the lower rev rates/low speed to get just enough traction to be in play a lot. This should be a consideration for almost everyone’s bag.

The new Roto Grip Tour Dynam-X is a fast favorite of mine. Featuring the Tour Trax Solid cove and the Rondure core, it gives the ball the perfect blend of control and versatility. Going with 50 x 4 x 40 for the layout, it helped me play on almost any pattern and have multiple different lines to choose from. The Tour is simply a assym IQ Tour from what I have seen. I have had the same versatility with this as I would with the typical benchmark piece in the SPI line. Was able to throw this ball in league a few times before I went back to school and have shot no less than 710 and have had two 300’s and a 791 with it already. Also used this ball from pattern lengths of 36ft to 48ft and have had success. No matter the situation, I feel that I am always in control with this ball and never stuck in one spot. I compared it to a stronger assym in the SPI line, the reality. It was clear how much stronger the reality was throughout the lane and that the Tour had more shape overall and area. The times where the reality burned up, the Tour Dynam-X would make it back no problem. The Rondure Core is being used to add control and smoothness for a ball in the HP3 line. The ball intent is to create a ball motion not readily seen in the SPI line of bowling balls. In comparison to my Roto Grip UC-3 and TNT the Tour Dynam-X will have much more utility in my arsenal. My UC-3 is a bit strong for a urethane type option and my TNT is a bit specific where it comes into play. The Tour Dynam-X on 40' Don Johnson showed a nice balance of length and control. The TNT in this case was good length wise, but off the spot over and under and the UC-3 had me steeper then I desired. For me, I really desire an option for sport and league patterns where control is the key, yet I want to move away from urethane do to the earlier chacteristics of these balls during events where a lot of traffic may happen. I feel the Tour Dynam-X might be that option over balls like the UC-3 and TNT for reasons I noted above. The cover comes out at 2K from the factory so I'm debating if 3K might give it just a touch more length out of my bag once urethane is not a good option. Anything you desire in a ball to create earlier hook and control the Tour Dynam-X is what you are looking for. These type of balls are needed and advantageous in today's bowling environment. They are also tough when looking for the right combination of length and hook strength. I'm very excited about this particular ball being an asymmetric and initial use has shown the ball has nice predictable continuation in the hook phase. It’s low RG, Low Diff, Lower Int Mid Diff! And a cleaner cover! I’ve been waiting for this ball a long time! It keeps its axis better than any asym we’ve made in a long time. Things I love about the DynamX 1. I can literally throw it as slow as I want and it won’t burn up or hook too early in the front 2. If I bump the dry it rarely goes sideways. It hooks off the dry but it’s more of a gradual continuous arc. 3. It lets me play parts of the lane I can’t play with any other ball because it’s clean, hits the midlane and doesn’t overhook down lane! Already one of my favorites and I can’t wait for the pearl!

Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin above the bridge, CG kicked out a 1”, and Mass Bias 1” to the right of the Thumb. I threw this piece on a fresh 41’ house pattern. Out of Box ball motion was clean through the fronts started early in the mids with a smooth continuous backend reaction. I compared this piece to the Storm IQ Tour, 900 Global Reality and Xponent, and Storm Phaze II. IQ Tour (Symmetric) was 4-4 right with an overall smooth motion. Reality (Asym) was 2-2 right but with a smooth continuous back motion. Xponent (Symmetric) 2-2 right with an overall smooth motion. Phaze II (Symmetric) was similar shape but stronger on the backend. The Tour Dynamix has a low RG value of 2.47 a low differential of 0.026 and a medium intermediate differential of 0.010. Rot Grip came out with a brand-new Tour Trax Cover wrapped around a modified Rondure Tour Core. The differential / intermediate differential has been lowered on the core as compared to what was used in the Rubicon to create a faster revving version that stays on-line easier and longer with less change of direction due to the Differential value being cut in half. Whether you have a super high rev rate or a super low rev rate, or a rev rate somewhere in the middle, this Low RG, Low Differential, Mild Asymmetric Differential core produces a constant stable motion off your hand and all the way through the pin deck. The Tour Dynam-x is a shape that is essential to any bowler's bag. Initially, I thought the Tour Dynam-x would out-hook the IQ Tour Solid. Interestingly, I found that they picked up in almost the same spot, but the Tour Dynam-x got a little more forward off the end of the pattern, allowing me a little more control of the breakpoint. It's notable that the TD provides more control than the IQ Tour, seeing as how the IQ Tour has been the standard of control and predictability as long as it has been on the market (and that's been awhile). The TD also has the unique ability to get across the lane with slower speed and still maintain its axis/hitting power. The TD rolls like an IQ Tour but softens the breakpoint up a bit more and hits more like a big ball. What's not to love?

Any SPI line ball with the word “Tour” in it has to be a huge success right? The new Tour Dynam-X is going to be no different. This ball features the Rondure Tour Core which is a spin off of the Rondure Core that was found in the Rubicons. This ball also has a new TourTrax Solid cover. I drilled mine to serve a different purpose in my bag, the 6 x 6 x 2 layout. I wanted something that was weaker drilled on the resin side but still was kind of quick when it saw the friction. After I first threw this ball I was completely shocked that it was still very strong and never really quit on me. I think anyone who bowls tournaments must have this in the bag because it’s going to be a great ball for the fresh because of how smooth it is.

Strong mid lane reaction with plenty of continuous motion to kick the corner pins. There wasn’t a spot on the lane that I did not feel comfortable throwing this ball. Might need to hit the surface just a bit, maybe 3000 if you don’t bowl on a shot with plenty of oil but I think as this ball lane shines up it will just get better and better.

The mild asymmetry of the Rondure Tour core creates a motion dynamic that is unique even from other Tour balls like the !Q Tour series. I tested the Tour DynamX on the house pattern in my home center. We have a longer, heavier house pattern but very cliffed. I found the Tour DynamX most useful when I got very close to the friction, but still loaded up on the ball a bit. It was very Urethane-esque, where it wanted to read early and layoff down-lane. This pattern is not where I would choose to throw a ball like that normally because of how tight they are down-lane. However the higher ratio of this pattern made so that I could jam the ball into the friction early enough and create angle and actually took a little of the over-under away. I also threw the Tour DynamX in another house I was visiting for a league sweeper. This house has very quick back-ends, and I tend to struggle there because of my lower ball speed This was where I really saw the unique advantage that the Tour DynamX can provide. Where I might use urethane on a similar condition, it often makes the lanes really tricky as they transition, with most modern urethanes flaring enough to pick up in the front of lane oil, but really causing it to push into the back-end. The result being a constant need to manipulate the shape as the lanes transition and even trickier; finding the correct ball to move into when the lanes transition. The Tour DynamX gives you all of the benefit of urethane type motion without the biggest drawback. The ball going down this part of the lane with a reactive cover actually makes the lanes better for the equipment you transition to. I would recommend the Tour DynamX for everyone's tournament bag. It's also an incredibly useful piece in houses with quicker back-ends and for very rev-dominant bowlers. It takes well to hand position changes which also sets it apart from urethane as you can stay in it longer without losing carry. Roto Grip Tour Dynam-X: Rondure Core w/ TourTrax solid reactive cover. Layout: 60 x 5 x 35 with 2000 grit Abralon out of the box. The ultimate sport pattern ball has been unleased onto the bowling world. If you liked your iQ Tour, you will LOVE the Tour Dynam-X. After debuting the ball at Bowl Expo – the buzz started right there, and the buzz has not died down at all. This is the lowest RG and DIFF ball that Roto Grip ever made! So, when I received mine, I instantly had it drilled with a very proven layout I used years ago when I rolled the ball better, and with recent changes in my health and game, I thought it would be best to see if I could re-create that magic from 4 years ago. The TD-X, my new nickname for this ball, worked amazing well on 43ft and 39ft sport patterns that were fresh and then after it was beat up by league bowlers and practice, I hoped back on the lanes and saw the same pin carry and sharpness in the backend when entering the pocket with just small adjustments on the starting point of the approaches and small adjustments getting the ball between the 2 tracer boards down lane. On a fresh medium to heavy house pattern, I was able to stand 18-20 and put the TD-X right up between the tracer boards and was striking like crazy. Was able to get left even more as the pattern conditioner pushed up between the tracer boards and moved to the dry part of the pattern, the TD-X did not hook up early which like solid reactive would normally do, like my Hyped Solid, Zen Master, and Electrify Solid, and held its own and I gain a ton more confidence the more I rolled the TD-X. For bowlers that are looking to update or replace their main piece in their bag, or if you want to add to your current arsenal to bowl on some tougher patterns, the Tour Dynam-X is the ball for you. Ben Lapointe PAP - 1 1/4'' up, 4 7/8 over Layout - 5.25 x 4.25 x 3 The Tour Dynam-x is Roto Grip's next installment in their HP3 line. This piece, like the Rubicon is unique because it is an asymmetric ball in a lower line. This ball for me, is the definition to a beefed up IQ Tour Solid. While it is a tad stronger overall, it shows that same controllable motion off during the entirety of it's path. It is a true middle of the bag ball that will keep you in the zone on most patterns, and tends to be the first ball out of the bag. I could see this ball being very versatile and is definitely recommended for the majority of bowlers, because it is a ball reaction almost no one could pass up. The Tour Dynam-X features a modified version of the Rubicon core and is wrapped in Tour Trax solid. The Dynam-X core is low RG, low differential and mildly asymmetric. The cover is a slightly modified version of what you would find on the Hustle line. Layout: 4.5 x 3.5 x 3 Surface: 1000 Grit Abralon The new Roto Grip Tour Dynam-x brings a brand new core and coverstock combination that is a completely new ball reaction in the Roto Grip Lineup! This is the IQ Tour for Roto Grip but potentially better?! A modified version of the Rondure Core was brought in here with half the differential as the original for a stronger front of lane move. What's also great about this ball is its control and predictability. It reminds me of a urethane ball that is all resin. This ball is going to be great for harder conditions or where control is an absolute must. For the normal typical house pattern, this ball would be best on the fresh for lanes that tend to hook a little more than typical or for the down and in player. This ball definitely favors straighter angles over opening up the lane. If you are a player looking to find a ball to be up the lane with or looking for your next sport pattern ball, than look no further. I was able to test this ball on the Kegel Alcatraz Oil pattern which is 38ft in length with a 2:1 ratio. What I found on this ball was with my ball speed, the 2000 abralon factory surface was just a little too clean for the pattern I was bowling on. It gave me a little too much length and not enough down lane reaction. When I altered the surface to 1000 abralon, I got a much stronger footprint on the lane and it gave me more of the ball reaction I was expecting out of it. It is a ball definitely designed for the fresh as it doesn't flare a lot. At the 1000 abralon surface, I was able to throw the ball a little bit more left to right but due to its controllable nature, it didn't go through the pins as strong as I wanted. I would say this ball would be more ideal for medium to shorter oil patterns and where control is needed. All tournament bowlers should have this ball in their bag as a staple benchmark ball where urethane is too early and smooth and stronger resin balls are too much hook. The Rondure Tour core is a modified Rondure core, but they lowered the diff but kept the asymmetry in the ball and provides a rounder shape compared to the old Rondure core. This ball is going to be similar to an IQ tour shape but will go through the pins better because of the asymmetry. This ball will fit into a benchmark position in your bag but also can be a ball for when the lanes start to break down with less surface or shined. Ball Review (Dynamo X & Clone): The Tour Dynam-X will be a staple in the bag for some time to come. In this review I bowled on a very light THS that had some recreational play on it prior to me bowling. I drilled 2 Dynam-X balls as I was a big fan of the Rubicon which features a modified core in the Dynam-X. With the high friction/early hook conditions I encountered the pin down provided the best look of the 2 as it blended out the pattern real well. As you will see in the video with the pin up I begin to loft the ball a bit to get the ball to clear the fronts and provide energy down lane. I believe the Tour Dynam-X will be a great benchmark ball to throw on medium to higher volume and will be good with surface adjustments. I saw real good continuation with the pin down as that ball matched up the best, provided plenty of margin and great hitting power through the pins. With the Clone given the strength of this asym and the environment I was bowling on it was way too strong for those conditions. I winded up moving right from the Dynam-X and increased my ball speed to get it through the fronts and provide angle down lane. You will see on the first few shots when I play left to right it read too early and didn't provide enough shape down lane. Once I got right and increased speed the ball looked real good. This will be good for medium to heavier conditions and could be used either on the fresh or as a transition ball off the stronger solids.
