Visionary Purple Ice Executioner Bowling Ball

(8 reviews) Write a Review
This Executioner was designed to combat the toughest of lane conditions. This light load particle pearl rolls like an old urethane on steroids, with the hit and carry of a strong reactive. With the executioner core and a newly designed coverstock, this ball is a must have for tournament and tough house conditions. This is NOT a monster hooker, but what this ball does offer is CONTROL - the best component when the lanes are not forgiving. This ball features Visionary's dominating Executioner core. The core/cover combination produces a slightly higher RG than the other 2 executioners, but retains the same built in mass bias with the bottom neck at a 30 degree angle. The mass bias can be ignored and drilled like a standard two piece with great results, or the angled neck can be treated like any mass bias for exotic drillings. The angled neck is located on a line from the Pin through the CG at a distance 11-1/4" from the pin past the CG.

Since I started throwing Visionary, I have been happy with the performance from their equipment. The Purple Ice Executioner I received from Visionary came with a 2 - 3 pin with a 2.5 top weight, just like I asked. Ball Specs. Weight 15.20 Pin 2 - 3 inch Top Weight 2.5 oz From other reviews with Visionary's equipment, I was looking for a ball to fit in - between my Burgundy Gryphon and Green Gargoyle. The Burgundy is set up to roll quicker and arc while the Green with the same layout and factory surface skids through the front part of the lane and jerks on the backend. Before drilling this ball, I altered the surface by using Track's Clean and Sheen and 3 - M Finesse to keep the strong grit but provide some lenght through the heads. The layout of this ball was a 5 by 5 layout( One of my Favorite Layout) with the pin under the ring finger to achieve my goal. The surface I tested this ball on was 38' oil pattern on old wood with a burned track at the 8 board. This ball roll

Urethane on steroids!!! Specs: 16lbs pin out of 3-4", don't remember the top weight, and it's drilled with the pin 1" over and .5" to the right of the ring finger. The CG is in the center of the palm in order to put the MB in strong position. Visionary was right on the money with this baby because it takes care of the S*#@ shot you might bowl on following open play. It will roll true and continuous through oil, early and maybe just a bit too early if there isn't enough head oil to get to the mids. The reaction shape is that of a sweeping arc half moon type. It's pretty aggressive once it starts moving the other way, but definitely needs dry to turn over. Also watch out for oil in the backends, the ball will skate a little making carry an issue. I achieved better results playing with a high track instead of spinning it, the ball really didn't react right to my lower track release. It hits well and carries well if you use it for the purpose it was designed for. This ba

Got this ball drilled to be a hook-stop type ball....haven't really tried it on that condition yet as every shot i've seen has enough oil in the heads for this one to skate at least 30-40 ft. Like I said in my dislikes, the ball is very condition specific, and unfortunately I haven't found that condition yet for it to shine on. When I do get the ball to the pocket, it hits very hard, which seems to be typical of all Visionary balls i've seen. I have trouble believing this is a urethane ball...more of a particle pearl. However, if this is the case, it's probably the worst particle pearl i've thrown. For the type of reaction I get out of the ball, I would want it to be at least 5-10 boards more...you can't really play a tight shot with it, it jumps WAY too much.

Picked this up last night after buying it from www.buddiesproshop.com, thanks to those guys. Drilled it up last night for league, put the pin one inch up and one inch right of the ring finger, with the CG swung right about 4 inches below the pin. Bowled on a typical house shot, heavy oil in the middle ofthe lane with medium-dry on the outside, past the ten board. Started out confused at first, heard this ball was supposed to be this big sport ball, so I figured it would dive off the lane, but it doesn't. It's has a nice smooth arc and it doesn't bother with the skid/flip like many of the balls out there now. I was standing on 20 all night, tossing it out to 7 and it was riding in to the pocket beautifully. If I missed my mark left, it would sit in the oil and just ride right into the pocket for a crushing hit (which did leave ten pins). If I got it outside of 7, it would track out and then just explode to the pocket carrying everything in it its path. I know scores real

Got his ball as part of my test staff membership. As a suggestion from Visionary I just drilled this up as a label leverage drilling. Ball had a 2 inch pin so I put the pin under my ring finger and the cg in the center grip. Hit the cover with 800 grit polish. This ball is very even and controllable. The move on the backend is so smooth its unbelievable. The ball is made for sport conditions and over under and performs very well. As with my other visionary balls the hit is amazing. If your looking for a good sport shot ball or tournament ball this should be your number 1 choice. Tets Staff Member Pete M.

I'm still tinkering with this ball. Adjusting surface condition for a variety of different shots. I am primarilly stuck on using this on a sport condition, like they recommend. It works well polished with clean back ends and about 35 feet of oil. With the layout I have on this as well as the 3000 polish it becomes a big snapper on the backend. Anything less it hooks too early. It does I drilled it to do, but I haven't seen that many conditions for it lately, so that is why I have shined it up. Maybe a little bit too much now. Overall, pretty satisfied with it. I've had a 300 with it, so it can't be that bad!!!!!!

I had this ball drilled up 4X4, no weight hole. Out of the box, this ball did not hook (@ 600 grit!), and hit like a half pound of feathers. I thought maybe it was me, but a friend of mine drilled one up totally different, throws the ball totally different, and had the same problem! I brought the surface up to 800, and all of a sudden, it was a much different ball! Clean through the first 38', then a hard arc in the back, and messengers sent whether they were needed or not. This was on a fresh shot, heavy in the middle. I need to try this ball on other conditions, but it looks like a solid ball.

UPDATE 7/31: Rolled 300 last night in league play with the Purple. What's not to like about this ball? It's almost hard to miss the pocket -- and the carry is ample. The ball is deceiving -- no big move on the back end so it doesn't look like it's doing much, but always seems to blow the 5 and 7 on half-pocket hits, and somehow snaps out the 10 on what look like automatic half-10s. Visionary just started shipping the Purple Ice Executioners on July 1. Mine showed up on July 3, and I had it out on the lanes the same day. This was a pretty easy house shot -- but susceptible to a lot of over/under with the wrong ball in your hand. I tested the Purple Ice against my Crimson and Charcoal Executioners, and a new Ebonite Apex Aggression. The Purple Ice worked just as advertised. It had the least overall hook of the four balls, which let me play straight up the boards. If I got it started a little right, in the dry, it didn't jump early or on the nose, generally held pocket, though
