I've only been bowling with reactive equipment since June 2007, so forgive me for not listing my PAP, ball speed, rev rate, axis, tilt, etc. I'm still learning about all the fine technical aspects of this game. THIS REVIEW IS EXTREMELY SUBJECTIVE, SINCE IT IS BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE. YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY. This is the 1st reactive piece I bought, as recommended by one of the employees at the shop I frequent. Here is a pic of how it was laid out.: http://i32.tinypic.com/aatxlx.jpg For a "starter" ball, the Tropical is quite strong. It's advertised for light oil, but since it has the same Reactor Pearl coverstock as the Storm Agent, I'd say it's really suited for med to med-light. On fresh medium shots, my ball gets good length, recovers just before the break point, and makes little flip, more like a strong arc, toward the pocket. On fresh shots with slightly lesser volumes, my ball reads the midlane earlier and reacts in a smooth, controlled arc. I haven't had any problems

i love mine when the lanes are burned upor any other time my tropical is my money ball if you think its too strong you should have read up better before you bought it, its a strong cover stock and a weak core so it is a dry lanes ball for sure, it hits hard and goes LOOOOOOOOOOONG and drives through the pocket never a ten pin or a bad split my girlfriend has one and loves it too so theres a cranker and a beginner strokers opinions the best of both worlds can even play straight up the ten if needed straight into the pocket high flush or low always a good deal for me and my girl shot a 279 with hers and i just started teaching her 2 weeks if that ago.

First off let me start by telling you I am a cranker and I average 220+. I bought this ball for a very mild reaction. I gave it the label drilling good length and a mild backend right. Wrong. This ball hooks way to early and it doesn't stop there the backend is very sharp. I would not recommend this ball for light oil or to anyone else that cranks the ball unless you are looking for an aggressive ball. If you are looking for an aggressive ball then this should fit the bill. I do have another Tropical storm drilled for length with the pin above the fingers, and it did however give me alot better look on drier conditions. The only reason that I drilled this one different is because I was looking for a more mild backend reaction. Hope this is helpful!

I got this ball for when the lanes break down. Overall, the ball isn't extremely bad, but I think Storm is selling this ball short. It can be very aggressive. It gets down the lane very well but once it finds friction there is no stopping this bad boy! I think it flips and hooks more than my T Road Pearl does. Not so desirable. It does go very long, so I can shoot my spares with it if I take a lot of hand out of it. Carrydown seems to be another big weakness for the Tropical but I don't mind that. UPDATE*--> Took it all the way up to 4000 abralon. Exactly what I was looking for! ball skids forever in oil. Main use now is for dry, dry lanes and spares.
