The R2S coverstock formula is what set Storm apart from the rest of the field. The Torrent is finished with a 2000-grit matte finish that digs through more oil yet amplifies control at the breakpoint. This much forgiveness is never unwarranted.

Im really injoying the ball motion the torrent has to offer, very controlling and super smooth able to play lots of patterns and lots of different angles with this ball.ball is out of box finish no surface adjustments, for me with this ball i love it the way it is.Reminds me a bit of the victory road solid same colours or very close to but ball motion very close to same but torrent has alot more roll and control the shape this ball does down lane is amazing, carry is great to.Cant wait to see what else storm comes out with really injoying all the balls they have to offer in there line up.

The Torrent is the replacement solid covered ball for the Rocketship in the Thunder Line of balls from Storm, the Bowler's Company. The Torrent uses the proven R2S solid cover, with a tweaked version of the Booster core called Booster HV, which raised the Rg to 2.56 and lowered the diff to 0.044 in 15lb bowling balls. The Torrent also comes out of the box with a 2000 grit abralon finish, which creates much more traction than the Rocketship out of the box. The Torrent has a Navy/Hunter green color combination that reminds me of the Victory road solid. I used a 4 x 5 x 2 ¾ layout on my Torrent, the same layout as I used on one of the Rocketships I drilled, and reviewed late last year. Out of the box, the Torrent reads the lane much quicker, and covers more boards overall than the Rocketship, due to the box finish being so much more aggressive. For me, the reaction covered way too many boards, and needed too much oil to get it down the lane, and be usable for most conditions. I smoothed out the cover with a used 4000 grit abralon, on the high speed of of a two speed spinner. This smoother finish made the Torrent get down the lane about 5 feet longer, and have a harder move off the spot, and through the backend. The overall shape of the Torrent had a little too much backend reaction for me with this surface finish. The next step was to use Storm #1 compound, and really get rid of the underlying grit that came from the factory finish. With this cover preparation, the Torrent is now closer to what I had originally anticipated the ball motion to be like. With the cover being the same as on the comp Rocketship, the Torrent has more length and a touch more backend motion than the Rocketship. I had very high expectations for the Torrent, as I really like all three balls that had the Booster core. The Torrent is a good ball, but seems to have a little bit smaller of window of use than what my Rocket, Sky Rocket and Rocketship have. With the box finish, the Torrent needs a lot of oil to get it down the lane, but the great thing about the R2S solid cover, is surface changes can really dial in the reaction for you. Thank you for taking the time to read my review of the Storm Torrent. As always, bowl up a Storm!

This ball motion is one of my favorites especially for sport patterns. This cover and core combination gives me something like the Roto Grip Rumble which allows me to attack the lanes straighter and more aggressive. This always me to keep the ball in front of me going to my breakpoint but not go so hard of the back of the patterns. Will be an exce llent shape for short patterns and centers with high friction. This ball is also very versatile as I have thrown it with shine and surface and received two different reactions. This torrent with shine allowed me to play straighter and gave me more down lane reaction compared to the one with 2000 surface which read the lane sooner and continued throughout the pattern

The Storm Torrent is the newest addition to the Thunder Line. Typically, the Thunder Line provides the best bang for the customers buck, and the Torrent fits that description perfectly. Looking at the numbers (2.56/.044), that tells me this ball might need some friction for me to use it effectively. I can definitely see the Torrent being a piece to use at Nationals based on some early reports of how much friction there is. I've drilled one so far and it's mapped out as: 5 x 4 ¾ with a small hole under my axis. Because I plan on using it when there's some friction, I left the surface alone at 2000. After throwing it approximately 20 games or so, I think this will be a great ball for Cheetah, Viper, and any of those patterns around 40 feet or less. I think it makes sense when the Sure Lock or No Rules are too strong, but you still want something with a relatively slow response time. I believe the Torrent will be the smoothest ball in my bag moving forward. If you need a great benchmark ball to use on multiple patterns, drill a Torrent! #StormNation

The Torrent is the newest ball in Storm's Thunder line. Its has the solid R2S Coverstock with the Booster HV core. I drilled mine 5x4.5x4.5 60x5x70 pin down no hole. I personally think the Torrent has similar ball motion like the Optimus Solid with more backend motion. The overall strength of the Torrent is its smooth continuous ball reaction. It doesnt rev up too early or jump too hard off the friction. I think it would be a lefty's dream ball to play up the boards. Also the Torrent was a great choice for USBC nationals in Vegas and other sport patterns. Torrent is a good fit for anyone's tournament/ league arsenal. Rev Rate: 400 Ball Speed: 17.3 Axis Tilt: 7 Axis Rotation: 45* PAP: 3 3/4 horizontal, 7/8 up Layout: 40 x 4 ½ x 40 I wasn't sure what to expect from the Torrent, so I drilled it like my Rocket Ship so I would have a point of comparison. I thought the Rocket Ship got pretty good length, but the Torrent goes longer, not only because it's sliding, but because it stays on axis much longer. This ball doesn't even try to start flaring until about the 40' mark. This makes the ball a bit sharper than the Rocket Ship, which isn't a bad thing. Using it on a house pattern, I've had no issues. It rolls quite well. Using it on fresh 39' Viper, it rolled pretty good, but once the pattern started to open up, it became a bit unpredictable. I like the Torrent and really want to try altering the surface and rolling on different sport patterns.

The Torrent is the February release from Storm into their historic Thunder line. The Torrent is a HyRoad Solid with more overall reaction. This is accomplished by using the R2S solid coverstock and the Booster HV core. The Torrent is aggressive in the midlane and very continuous down lane. The layout I chose for the Torrent was pin over the fingers with no hole. The dual angle numbers are roughly 75 X 5 ½ X 45. My coordinates are rev rate around 300, medium ball speed, right handed and my PAP is 5 5/8 over and ¾ up. I threw the Torrent on a THS and it surprised me by the overall reaction. Usually at the start the Typical House Shot has a ton of over under but with the Torrent that was minimalized. I was able to keep my angles pretty straight but not as straight as the HyRoad Solid. The Torrent reminded me of the Rocket Ship through the front part of the lane but that is where the similarities ended. Even though the Torrent is smooth and unassuming for 30 feet the backend motion is deceivingly strong and continuous through the pin deck. I was able to move left and the Torrent motored through the carry down. My rev rate and the box surface on the Torrent was reading a little too early late in the practice session so I switched to the Street Fight to get my angles under control. Overall, the Torrent is a good versatile benchmark bowling ball with power. It is like American Express never leave home without it!

Ball: Storm Torrent Specs: 4000 grit AB with a label drill with pin above ring finger Lane info: SPL installed in early 2010's and using KEGEL Ion with Fire conditioner w/ defense – C cleaner What I Liked: I changed the surfaced to 4000 grit AB to give it a little more length because the reaction off the pattern with the box finish was very strong and very quick. For me, 2000AB read real quickly off of the pattern, taking it to 4000 grit AB allowed it just that smoother transition off of the wet and onto the dry, made it more manageable for me. Very Strong – I stress Very Strong solid reactive cover ball. I feel that is ball would be the first piece out of my bag when I bowl at the ABC centers that have the newer Brunswick panels without taking a second thought. Great strong piece without having to go to an ASYM core solid.

I had a chance to drill the Torrent with the layout of 5 1/2 x16x45. My PAP is 4 1/4 x 1/4 up. This ball with this layout reads the mid lane really fast with my rev rate and higher ball speed. This ball compared to an IQ Tour solid picks up faster when the IQ goes too long. It's a great choice to add in someone's bag if you need a ball between the Sure lock and IQ.

Storm Torrent Layout: pin above the bridge, cg 2 inches directly below it. Condition: 40 ft HPL house shot I drilled the Torrent to be my bench ball. The layout I put on this ball is very good for me. It gives me a nice read out of my bag to see how the lanes are playing. The ball is very smooth of the spot, keeps the pins low and strikes a lot for me. My wife calls this the Earth ball for its rich blue and green color scheme and a strong lavender scent. It has a sharp look going down the lane and a good shelf appeal. Whatever your preference, performance or look get out to you local pro shop and pick one up, you won't be disappointed. This ball is available now. If you are in the Evansville, IN go see Nick Austin at The Bowling Place located in Arc Lanes. Bowl up a Storm

Orientation: Right Handed Rev Rate: 375 RPM Speed: 16-17 MPH PAP: 4 5/8 straight across Location: Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO Pattern: High Volume THS Layout: 60, 5 ¾ , 40 If you loved the Rocket series, the Torrent is going to be a must have. Storm modified the core to be a little longer and flippier than the Rocket series. The cover is the IQ Tour Solid, Rocket Ship cover which is super clean, smooth and versatile. I can use it on fresh and transition with it the whole set. The Torrent generates plenty of midlane and creates a ton of backend and can be used on a house condition or a sport condition.

I drilled this ball with the pin below my ring finger for Heavy Oil, Long Pattern PBA Shots. My PAP is 4 5/8 X 11/16. The line I played was 30 to 12. The ball reaction I received from the Torrent was quite surprising. I was expecting the ball to be slightly weak while playing this line due to the lines being freshly oiled. The reaction I got was quite the opposite. When the ball reached 44 feet it rolled up inside the pocket quite smoothly and aggressively. It kept the pins low for great pin reaction. I average 217 for 8 games with this ball. This will make a nice ball to have for long, heavy oiled lanes.

The Torrent is the newest ball in Storm's Thunder line, and on paper it looks like a slightly weaker Rocket Ship, so I wasn't sure how much difference I was going to see. It actually hooks a few boards more than the Rocket Ship, and is earlier and smoother, reminding me of a stronger Victory Road Solid, and is different enough from the Rocket Ship for the release to make sense in the line. I feel like the shape is the biggest difference from the Rocket Ship, as it starts up several feet earlier and is smoother, while the Rocket Ship gets easier length and is sharper on the backend. While they might be fairly similar on house patterns, sport patterns is where you'll see the Torrent shine from straighter angles, and the Rocket Ship be better once the shot moves to deeper angles. I said on my video for the Rocket Ship that IT was the very definition of a benchmark ball, and the Torrent may have just proven me wrong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkJEXhaWT88

The Torrent is a very smooth and controllable bowling ball. I used a 4x4x2 layout for this ball as that is generally a good layout for multiple patterns. I tested the Torrent on a fresh THS (typical House Shot). This ball fits in between the IQ Tour Edition and the Fight. I like the control factor of this ball. I was able to keep my angles tight; not to open which I generally prefer. For me, this ball will serve me 2 purposes; as a bench mark ball for league play and a option for shorter oil patterns to begin a squad with. If you like smooth and controllable this is a great ball to add to your bag.
