Storm Nova Core---Ignition Core Coverstock---RX2 Hybrid Reactive Late for the review but couldn't skip this one...the Nova deserves a great review. Out of the box, the Nova is strong and smooth. After a few games, lane shine sets in and it adds a touch of length and angle on the backend. It fills the small gap between my 900Global Reality and Roto Grip RST-X1. Since getting the Nova, it has been my go to ball on any shot with medium-heavy oil. I can still control it on medium stuff and it fights though the oiliest stuff we see in my area. So much versatility for a strong ball. Reminds me a lot of the RST-X1 as far as versatility goes...but it is definitely stronger. I can't wait for more releases with the Ignition core. It's been a hit for years overseas in the Gate Series and I am sure it will continue to gain popularity here in the US. Best Storm/RG/900G release for me since the Phaze 3 (my favorite).

Where do I begin... let's start by saying that at first I did not like the Nova. For me it just read too early and was very smooth with the original box finish. I even tried polishing it but it just made it miss the midlane. With storms recent move to the 4k fast surface I thought I would try that and see what happens, couldn't be any worse. All I can say is holy cow this surface on this ball was perfect! The continuation I was seeing was incredible. I also put a pin down dark code and a 3.5 inch pin zen at the same 4k fast finish to compare. I am really gonna like the 4k fast finish. Hope you enjoy the video! I'm a little late to the party with the Storm Nova, and I wish I wouldn't have waited on it! I went with a 45 X 5 x 65 layout, and the predictable, strong, continuous motion I get is what I needed and wanted out of this spot in the bag. Generally, hybrids and I have a great relationship and this is no exception. The 3000 grit finish is the happy medium between mid-lane and length. Being low RG and asymmetric, it fits closer to the top of the bag, but still under a Reality or a Gem. If either of those seems to be too much too early on whatever you're bowling on, this is the small step down from either of those.

I would strongly suggest a Storm Nova to a wide variety of players. Whether you're a stroker, tweener or a cranker. This Nova has a wide footprint of users in my opinion. The Storm Nova is outstanding. Within the first two days, I had to drill a second one. I loved my first one that was drilled pin up so much, I had to drill a pin down version. Neither one disappointed. Both were very complementary to each other. For me they were a touch early for our HPL lane surface in Rockford, so I hit both of them with a 3000 abralon pad. This will allow the ball to glide through the fronts a tad easier and still retain that amazing motion down-lane that the Nova provides. I drilled my NOVA up with a 60 x 4.5 x 30 layout. This put the PSA just slightly in my thumb. I have thrown it at box finish and also hit it with a 2000 pad for a longer pattern to try on. I like the motion this NOVA offers. I was able to keep it slightly tighter with smaller angles on a slick 46 foot pattern and the ball hits well. I was also able to start and open my angles up with it and still get recovery so a duller hybrid that doesn't quit in the back. I threw it side by side with some other balls that I like on longer/higher volume patterns like the TREND 2, the new GEM, and the INCITE. Where the TREND 2 was a better ball down option, the NOVA stretched the pattern a little longer for me before I put the TREND 2 in play. The GEM was a much earlier move and the NOVA became the better ball down option off the GEM. The INCITE even though a hybrid cover was much slower at the spot compared to the NOVA. The INCITE would be a better option if the volume was higher but the pattern a little shorter where the NOVA might take too much angle to get to the pocket. Possibly polishing the NOVA lightly would make this a good ball down option using this strategy of INCITE to start with. Pick this one up if you want a ball that is versatile and can compliment both your big hitters and your stronger mediums with cover changes.

In addition, I liked how the R2X had a smooth, consistent traction as it made its way through the mid-lane! Although this cover is quite strong, I liked that it didn't overreact or get too "jumpy" when the conditions had just begun to break down. I found that the R2X works best on fresh or higher volumes of oil. However, I also liked how the R2X Hybrid allowed a straighter player like me to move in with confidence and not fear, standing 27 and looking at 15! Trust me that is an incredible feeling for a higher speed and rev-challenged player! In conclusion, the Nova is an impressive new release from Storm! The Nova is a bowling ball that I can see myself throwing a lot in multiple environments. The Nova features a revolutionary Ignition core which is paired with an innovative R2X coverstock technology. A strong asymmetrical core has a lot of flare potential and this coverstock seems to get down the relatively easy. I drilled my Nova with a pin-down layout with hopes of stretching the roll phase and reducing the flare potential. I am pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the Nova as well as its continuation. The Nova seems to be quite versatile and responds very well to changes in release. The R2X coverstock allows the Nova to stay online easier and the Ignition core produces enough continuation for more open launch angles. I believe the Nova fits well between the Proton PhysiX and the Dark Code. I think the Nova works best on fresh medium patterns, especially at the bowling centers that have older/more worn lane surfaces. The Nova allows me to start with straighter angles and then open-up my launch angles as the patterns transition. I also believe that, with a little more surface, the Nova works well on shorter patterns when there is a lot of carry-down from urethane bowling balls. Lastly, because the Nova is quite versatile, I think it works well on fresh house-shots as it blends the over/under reaction quite well. The Nova will be my go-to asymmetrical bowling ball in the upcoming tournaments.

Storm Nova Ball Review Hey everyone, I'm back with another ball review, and this time it's for the Storm Nova and in 15 pounds this ball is wrapped in the R2X Hybrid Coverstock and comes 3000-grit with an RG of 2.49 and a Diff of 0.051 and .019 Mass Bias Layout for this ball is 3.5 X 4 X 2.5 This ball right her was a bit of a shock to me as I am someone that doesn't have the big rev rate and bigger balls tend to burn up in the fronts for me as I personal stick to cleaner balls. From what I heard from other staffers and talking with my PSO we decided to pull the trigger with this ball and I was surprised for sure. I know many that shined this ball as soon as they got it, but I kept it at the box 3k and just to see what it would do on a tighter pattern. I was able to keep the ball in front of me and didn't see it burn up in the heads and has stayed in the bag. At first glance, this looks like another big dull asym, with one purpose: cut through oil. But this ball is more than just a snow tire. The Nova is the most angular dull asymmetric ball I've ever thrown. Not only can i use the surface to blend out wet/dry, but i can step left and go around the lane without sacrificing carry. This ball is the best of both worlds.

They wrapped R2X Hybrid around the ignition core. R2X is supposed to fit between R2S and NRG covers which should make it a bit cleaner than the nano covers. The Ignition core is as strong as you would expect from a core with a diff in the 50s and and psa diff of .019. I tested the Nova in my home center on our high volume pattern. Anticipating a very strong reaction I opted for a bit weaker drilling over-all. I had hoped to stretch the transition of the ball a bit so it didn't use that massive amount of stored energy at once. I'm definitely glad I didn't drill it stronger because despite my attempts to tailor the reaction with this layout, the Nova for me definitely uses it all at once. Even with the considerable volume it never misses the Midlane. I had hoped for a little more continuation but I've definitely found myself having to go away from the Nova pretty quickly as the lanes transition. It does work fantastically well when you need to play straighter angles in the oil however. I found a great niche for it there on a very "sharkish" pattern. This ball will be better for bowlers with less hand or on greater volumes of oil.

Storm Nova Ball Review by PJ Haggerty The latest addition to the Premier line at Storm is the Nova. Under the hood is the Ignition Core which is designed to rev up fast and create a quick response time down lane. Because the core is so strong, the flare potential is over 6" which means the Nova is designed to hook! The coverstock is the famous R2S which can be found on several successful balls Storm has made over the years. I've drilled one Nova so far and really like it. I mapped it out as 5 x 4.5 x 75. This puts the pin above my bridge and the mass bias just to the right of my thumb. When comparing the Nova to a Proton Physix or similar asymmetrical balls currently in the line, I believe the response time is quicker with the Nova. Also, I've had success using it on multiple types of patterns. On the longer patterns where I need to keep my angles tighter, I've seen the Nova "dig" enough that it hooks in the right spot. On the other hand, the core is big enough that it looks great on short patterns also. Overall, if you need a big core with a ton of flare potential that can be used on several types of patterns, the Nova should be the next ball you drill. #StormNation

Speed at cameras 15.5 Review: The new Storm Nova is a very strong sanded hybrid. I first compared it to my Incite and it was much stronger especially down lane. I then compared it to my Zen Master and it is similar but stronger overall. After testing this ball on a few patterns, I feel it is best when you can start it in the oil and get to the friction further down the lane. When I got the ball to the dry too quick it used too much energy early and did not react on the back as much as I would have liked. In the oil it is a very good predictable strong ball. This ball at box surface fits between my Zen Master and Gem. This ball has been selling well and was a hit at our last ball demo. I took my second Nova and polished it up. It is beautiful but really cuts down on the hook. If you have a higher rev rate or low speed the polished finish should work well, if you are lower rev or roll fast I would leave it sanded. Surface changes are great because they can drastically change motion and if you don't like a change you can put it back to box. No harm no foul. If you are looking for a nice strong predicable ball that hits hard the Nova would be a very good choice. Summary: The Storm Nova is a strong rolling ball. The Ball reads oilier patterns very well. The Nova by Storm is by far one of the heaviest rolling bowling balls that I have thrown in the past few years. The combination of the R2X Hybrid Reactive cover stock and the Ignition Core is Phenomenal. My coordinates are 300 rev rate (on a good day), loves playing right and close to the dry and my PAP is 5 5/8 over and ¾ up. The layout I used was 5 ¼ X 4 ½ X 1 7/8 and did change the cover to hand spun 3000 to add a little shine. This layout is a favorite of mine because pin placement gives me a little push, mass bias is kind of strong and the buffer helps it transition. The Nova wants to start up early and loves the oil. However, even with my lower rev rate the Nova will turn the corner down lane and still get the corners out. I hit in with 3000 so I could play closer to the friction and be comfortable on the fresh league pattern. That was a success but after several games and the front part of the lane started to burn up the Nova forced me to open up my angles way too much for me. I was uncomfortable throwing away from the pocket, but the Nova was in its comfort zone. The Nova surprised me because usually the bigger Asymmetrical bowling balls want to make a move and then sort of stop. This did not happen until I was crossing around the 4th arrow and even then, it was impressive. I did not have an asymmetrical to compare but I did have a 900 Global Zen Master and a Helios. The Nova was a good 5 to 10 boards stronger at the arrows but the Zen Master's backend was very similar to the Nova's. Heavy rolling and unrelenting but forgiving at the same time. Overall I was impressed by the Nova and will recommend it if you need help in the power department. The Nova is a beast and will be apart of my tournament bag because the Nova fits the Heavy Oil or Longer Pattern Niche.

As you move left this ball seems to look better and better. We like that the ball gets into a roll early but doesn't give up down lane. This is a ball that can give you a lot of confidence with its versatility. Playing with steeper angles or also playing straight down the lane allows this ball to look equally as good. After a few games and some shine on the Nova, I found it to be even more versatile. I could take some handout of the ball and play straighter or move inside and wheel it. For me the Nova sits right under the 900 Global Reality. When the Nova is going a bit too long or too much oil I can switch to the Reality. The same goes when the Reality is picking up too early, I can move into the Nova to get it down the lane further before reading the friction. This ball is good and is going to be seen everywhere! WOW. Not to say I was skeptical of this ball, but it exceeded all expectations. It is much stronger than I could have anticipated based off the numbers. It does not stop when it hits the pins. Sometimes it can be a little more unpredictable than I would like in that it can decide to jump on me when I don't move quick enough, but for the most part I have no issues controlling this ball. When it hits the pins it doesn't stop, leaving solid 8 pins is not a thing with the Nova. We most recently saw the R2X hybrid cover on the Hy-Road X which is one of my all-time favorites. So it is no surprise that I am matching up well with it once again, the difference being the asymmetric core giving me a little more punch down lane. The Nova for me is extremely versatile, I can move right and get on it and it blends the pattern really well, or I can move left, let it roll more and it gives me a much sharper reaction down lane. I see the Nova getting a ton of action when I am bowling on sport patterns.

I wasn't sure exactly how to drill the Nova to fit in the bag so I put this layout on the Nova (70 x 3.5 × 80). I was pleasantly surprised with the results. This is not a ball I am going to personally circle the lane with which is fine. I could kind of tell that from the headquarters videos and early Staff reviews. I see the Rubicon as cleaner and the Nova as earlier and more round, yet they are similar in shape/strength and are great complements to one another. I think the Nova will prove to be a nice ball for tougher patterns and will match up for big rev rates that need a blend ball and lower rev rates looking for extra help. The Nova features the R2X hybrid cover at a 3000 grit sanded finish and the new to us asymmetric Ignition core coming in at a 2.49 RG, .052 differential, and a .019 intermediate differential in 15 pounds. R2X hybrid isn't new, but it's only been used twice before for the Virtual Energy and Modern Marvel, while we've seen the solid version most recently on the Hy-Road X. The Ignition core is a new core to the US, it's been used several times overseas, specifically in the Gate series, and is strong, very continuous and tumbly. The overall package gives the Nova an incredibly versatile reaction. The cover is medium strength, so while surface will help it hook on heavier volumes, shine will help it reach down to drier conditions than you might expect. The core gives the reaction a more gradual but climbing and momentum building look to it. If you raise your speed and/or lower your revs, the Nova can be very smooth and blendy, but if you slow roll it, you can hook the whole lane and get a sharper and more dynamic reaction. This first addition in a world wide release has been a huge success. For those that like ball motion similar to the 900 Global Reality and the Storm Proton Physix are really enjoying the Nova which overall hooks slightly less than the ^ balls. For my video I went with the box finish, which for most will work extremely well. One recommendation I share for slower ball speeds such as myself is hitting solids with a 4K or 5K abralon pad on a spinner to gain a touch of extra length through the front part of the lane. Also, you can allow the ball to lane shine slightly which after a few games, you'll notice a little extra length out of most solid coverstocks. This ball is what I would call a more tame version of a "hook monster" with great control and will allow more opportunity to open the lanes a bit before jumping into another ball. In regards to transition, I really enjoyed the 900 Global Volatility, but once the lanes changed I had to jump out of that ball very quickly. The Nova definitely allows more forgiveness for a bigger ball in the arsenal. Be sure to try out a Storm Nova and fill that gap for fresh league and heavier volume tournament patterns. When i first heard about the Nova, my first thought was is this the new physix. But was i wrong this ball is much stronger. This is storms new big asymmetrical. This ball is not quite as early as a proton physix, but i ended up polishing mine to have it store more energy going through the pins. For all you high rev players like myself, if you dont have enough volume this ball rolls great at 2000 polished. For all you players that play down and in, leave this ball right at box finish and you won't be disappointed. Pick your favorite layout and you'll be off to the races.

The Nova is Storm's newest ball in their asymmetrical line. It is similar to the Proton Physix and Reality, but of course is slightly different. The Nova will be the first ball out of my bag on medium patterns, and on long patterns will come out when the Proton Physix is hooking too early and burning up. I polished the Nova, then hit it with a 2000 abralon pad, and that helps it retain more energy. I believe that is the way to go if you are going to throw it on house shots or anything that hooks a lot. I really like the color pattern on the Nova as well. Being green and red, it is very readable going down the lane and looks flat out good! The Electrify Solid utilizes the new Ignition Core and the R2X Hybrid reactive cover. We tested against the Helios Idol and Altered Reality. The Nova reminded me of a stronger Reality. The Nova is a little sooner than the Reality so I don't feel like it will be as versatile but still more versatile than 90% of strong balls. During testing, the Nova got better the deeper we moved. We tested on a lighter oil pattern with crispy outsides so not the ideal condition for the Nova. The Altered Reality performed the best because the pattern fit it better.
