Storm Lights Out Bowling Ball

With the new Lights Out, Storm is helping you put the LIGHTS OUT on the competition! The proven Turbine™ core offers a medium RG and ample flare potential which works for a variety of styles on a countless number of lane conditions. Previously powering the Tropical Heat™ series, this core shape allows you to control your roll pattern and, ultimately, your ball reaction. Need a little more hook? Just place the pin in a stronger position and you’re ready to roll. However, to enhance the reaction of the original Tropical Heats, Storm wrapped the Turbine core with a more aggressive R2S™ hybrid reactive coverstock which really moves down lane. Its responsive nature grips the dry boards and turns the corner when needed. This stronger shell can be prepped with a sanding pad if needed, but give it a good look first with the factory finish as it provided an optimum motion in testing. The Lights Out by Storm, it’s a Hot line ball with serious attitude…just like you!

Lights Out PAP - 4 3/16 over 1/4 up Ball Speed 17-18 mph Rev Rate 300-350 Right Handed Layout 37 x 4 x 34 Surface Preparation: OOB What I was looking for: I was looking for this ball to have an overall smooth arcing motion but still have the lovely pop on the backend that you get out of hybrid balls. What I got: As for the reaction, this ball rolls exactly how I wanted it to. It starts picking up fairly soon gets into transition very smoothly but still doesn’t hold back on the backend. It hooks a lot more than I expected it to. This ball goes very well with the new Freakn Frantic. It actually hooks about the same amount but it picks up a little bit sooner due to its Hybrid Coverstock. When this ball starts hooking a little too soon I go to the Freakn Frantic. Perfect 1-2 Punch for house shots and medium sport shot conditions. I can’t wait for more balls in this series, great ball for the lower price point. Steven Fagan Storm Pro Shop Staff Lexington, KY

COVERSTOCK: R2S™ Hybrid Reactive WEIGHT BLOCK: Turbine™ Core FACTORY FINISH: 1500-grit Polished BALL COLOR: Midnight/Charcoal Pearl DUROMETER: 74-76 Rex D-scale FLARE POTENTIAL: 3” - 4” (Medium) FRAGRANCE: Apple Fritter WEIGHTS: 10-16 lbs. SKU: TOB My layout: 60 x 3 3/8 "x 40 My PAP: 4 3/4" over 1 5/8 up The Lights Out from Storm is a ball I was pleasantly surprised with. I always liked balls that get rolling early that somehow still glide through the heads. I am a straighter player that rolls it early, with an average ball speed. It is important for me not to fight the heads with early rolling balls. The Lights Out excels for me because even though it gets rolling early, the ball still goes down the lane very easily storing plenty of power for the pocket. This ball fits in below my IQ Tour Pearl, and above my Freak’n Frantic, and Fringe, in my bag. I think if the Tropical Heat and the Hy-Road had a baby, it would be named the Lights Out. I have seen a few other people including non staffers throw this ball, and I really liked the way it reacted for everybody. Like the Freak’n Frantic, the Lights Out is another great value for its price point. If you have a little drier lane condition, or a shorter pattern, pick up this ball and shoot Lights Out!

Lights Out Ball speed 17mph, 400 RPMs, layout: 65 x 6 x 25 When I decided to get the Lights Out, I had a definite missing piece in my arsenal at the low end. I felt that I was forcing my crossroad and victory road pearl late in tournaments where the conditions were calling for a low end high pin ball. So that’s what I got. This ball is amazing, it gets through the heads the cleanest I have ever experienced and has a very controllable strong backend move. This ball allows me to stay right longer because it is so clean through the front and also allows me to make a big jump left as it has no trouble making the corner when the track gets scorched. This ball is a must have for tournament bowlers that need a ball to help them get left late in the day. Storm has a winner here. Jordan Jung Storm Amateur Staff Vancouver, BC, Canada.

The Lights out surprised me with its overall power and reaction down lane. It is very strong for a lower end Storm ball. This replaced my Tropical heat in my bag. The R2S Cover gives this ball a tremendous amount of length to push down lane. I love how well it sets up and hooks through the pocket. Flare potential is way above 4” in my opinion and rivals all mid to lower end bowling balls. For the price point you are getting a strong and powerful bowling ball. If you are looking a ball that gets to the spot and still delivers, this is the ball for you. Even if you are just starting out and want to move up to reactive, you will not be let down by choosing this ball, plenty of hook to go around.

My Lights Out Layout: 60 degrees x 4 5/8" x 2 1/2" When the Lights Out was first announced I was pretty excited to give it a try. Having loved the way my Fast rolled I was sure this was going to be an instant favorite given they shared the same Turbine core. The only difference being the R2S hybrid on the Lights Out versus the R2S pearl which covered the Fast. The Lights Out was definitely getting the same layout as my Fast. Once I had the chance to throw the Lights Out I saw the same roll that I had with my Fast and a ball which provided a strong reaction off of the dry boards down lane and tremendous continuation. The R2S hybrid cover provides good length in addition to its strong reaction to friction. Storm intends for the Lights Out to be a replacement and performance upgrade to the Black/Silver Tropical Heat hybrid and that is exactly what the Lights Out provides. Anyone who loves their Tropical Heat hybrid but is ready for a fresh piece to replace it needs to take a look at the Lights Out. VIdeo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGCIiVADu8U Conditions I have used the Lights Out on: 40' THS, 42' THS, Bourbon Street (40') Where it fits in my bag: The Lights Out fits just about the same place in my bag as the Freak'n Frantic as far as strength goes but is the ball I will go to when I need that extra kick off the dry. It's just below my IQ Tour/IQ Tour Pearl/Reign of Power and just above my Black/Cherry Tropical Breeze. When I use it: When I want to start in the track on a house pattern or medium length challenge pattern. Later in a block when other balls are quitting on me downlane.

The Lights Out is one of the best balls I have thrown in a long time. With a 4 ½ by 4 layout the ball reacted very good. It read the mid lane very good but didn't pop off the spot. The reaction was very controllable and blended with the pattern. As games went on carry down came about and the ball struggled to make the corner. Flat 10 pins is what you would see from this ball out of box on carry down for me. If you hit it with a little surface like 3000 the ball still rolls nice but gives it just enough to read through the carry down and carry then 10. To me this ball has a desired reaction that everyone need in there bag from house to sport conditions. Wes Newman Storm Advisory Staff Vise grip Staff Bowlarama Lanes Proshop

Storm Lights Out Ball Review After only drilling a couple Tropical Heat’s and one Tropical Breeze, I had my expectations set as to what the Lights Out was going to be like. But, I was pleasantly surprised on how much this ball hooks! For a ball in our “Hot” line, I feel like it definitely a step up from the Heat series. When the lanes really start to hook and your angles are forced really far open, the Lights Out will be a perfect match. I have always been hesitant on drilling balls with smaller cores and weaker covers because I’ve noticed they don’t go through the pins very well. The Lights Out is anything but that and goes through the pins great for a ball with a tremendous amount of length. I drilled mine 4 ½ x 4 ¼ with a tiny hole on my axis approximately 3’ deep. I made sure to put a weight hole in this ball to ensure the ball will flare enough and the flare rings would be far enough apart. Out of the box, I feel the Lights Out has a very quick response time to friction. I recommend lightly grazing the surface with a 2000 or 3000 pad just to knock the original shine off. This will help the ball hook in oil and not be so quick off the friction. If you are looking for a piece when the lanes hook a lot, if your center has an old surface, or simply a replacement for one of your lower/mid-range balls, a Lights Out will fill that gap nicely!
