Storm Gravity Evolve Bowling Ball

The game has changed and so should we. Stepping back, we realized amateurs and professionals around the world have been clamoring for a heavy-rolling, fast-migrating core akin to one of the most famous of all-time: The Shape-Lock HD Core. This shape can power through just about anything. “HD” is short for high density, which lowers the RG and raises the differential of the weight block. And with SPEC at the helm, expect heavy roll with no shortage of higher scores and more strikes.

The Gravity Evolve since adding this to my bag has been one of the first balls I pick up. With my loft and what this balls offers using the Spec cover it's a great match on fresh house shots. Blends the pattern for me well. 5 x 4 x 40 was my layout. This ball gives you a different shape than the other balls in this line and a good addition to your bag if you're looking to change it up.

The GRAVITY EVOLVE can be the ball you use to start the fresh or play those patterns with oil upfront that are needing quicker movement/read in a ball! Patterns used for review are HP modified. Pattern A: 42Ft, 28.56 Mls, 5:1 ratio Pattern B: 43Ft, 29.86 Mls, 4:1 ratio PLAY The Gravity Evolve out of box comes ready to get rolling quick. The two patterns played have a little more volume of front and tend to keep quick/early swings limited until the transition/line breakdowns occur. Pattern A: On this pattern the gravity was too much ball fast when playing in the areas 10 to 14 at arrows and 3 to 7 down lane with regular release. If I wasn't careful the out of box surface would dig in quick and demand constant speed to hold line. The best move was to move in and allow the Gravity Evolve to use up some energy before making an aggressive arcing motion to the pocket. Pattern B: On this pattern the Gravity Evolve was able to use the extra food and volume to make a good play for a big swing with regular release. It was a bit more forgiving to play the tack area with consistent speed. Moves left opened up and made for movement. NOTE A: The Gravity Evolve wouldn't be a ball I would use with regular release in playing the lanes further right. Definitely would be a back off the ball and play up the back more while increasing tilt. NOTE B: The Gravity Evolve is a movement ball on these patterns. If you're heavy handed you can get out and let her go. Just be prepared to make moves and chase the oil. Unless you know how to read the roll and use her to burn up and bump pattern recovery! PLAY CHANGES: To see what would occur when changing the surface to polish..... the Gravity Evolve became very angular when I bumped or got it out to the friction. The turn off the corner was hard and very unforgiving if I played lazy or had inside misses left of target. If you polish this ball at higher rev rates and moderate speed be prepared to get after it. LOW DOWN: Early read on the Gravity Evolve is for the lower rev players its ideal to utilize on most house style patterns. If you like to hook a ball you will ball down. The real key is going to be the versatility of your game vs what your trying to do. This ball is one I would use with compound finish for most league style patterns and get around the traffic early. Pair this with a Hyroad X and you have that one/2 combo!

Storm Gravity Evolve Layout: 4.5 x 4 x1.5 Storm Pin Buffer Rev Rate: 325 ppm, 7 degree of axis tilt, 40 degree of axis rotation Testing Information: 42-foot THS (medium volume) Kegel Machine – Brunswick Anvilane The Storm Gravity Evolve (SGE) utilizes the Shape-Lock HD Core and SPEC Solid Coverstock. We tested the SGE after league one night when the lanes were not extremely easy due to some carry down on the lane pattern. During league, the SGE gave me a reaction no one else was able to create, including me with my other equipment. The SGE is a strong, early rolling, ball, but with a defined hook motion at the breakpoint. With the SPEC Solid coverstock, I was a little surprised at the backend motion of the SGE due to my previous experiences with the SPEC coverstock on other bowling balls. The SGE (with factory finish) has more backend reaction than the Storm Crux Prime and Storm Pro Motion. I also threw my Roto Grip MVP during testing. I stood in the same place and targeted the same as well. My first shot with the MVP hit the right side of the 3-pin. This comparison illustrated and confirmed the strength of the SGE. If you know me, I am not one who says every ball is a must have. The SGE is very good and would definitely be a No. 1 in your tournament bag. Personally, I am adding it to my bag in the No. 1 ball slot. Last point, the original Virtual Gravity was not one of my favorites even though it sold record number of units for Storm during its run. I tried four different drill patterns on the Virtual Gravity but no success for me. The lack of success kept me away from the SGE in the beginning but I am very glad I decided to drill one. Don't let previous experience make you a doubter. Storm continues to thrive in combing old cores with new coverstocks and vice versa. Visit your local Storm VIP Pro Shop! #Stormnation

The third SPEC-cover ball to hit the market, the Gravity Evolve, might be my favorite of the bunch. This one combines Storm's newest cover tech with a throwback to one of their best balls ever, the the Shape-Lock HD core from the Virtual Gravity. The core comes in at a 2.48 RG, 0.052 differential, and 0.020 intermediate differential in 15# - all of that means that thie ball will not suffer from lack of motor. Combine that with the controlled reaction that SPEC brings to the table, and this one feels both a lot like the Crux Prime and ProMotion from a control perspective but with better downlane shape and punch through the pins. SPEC is a very interesting cover in that it's very strong but also provides a lot of throwability when the lanes aren't flooded - the Evolve captures this very well, as it will pick up on anything as long as it has some surface on it but will also have zero issue retaining energy if the lanes are a bit drier or lower-volume.

I was too young and inexperienced to throw a Virtual Gravity when it was first released, so naturally I was excited when Storm announced that they were bringing a modified version back! Gravity Evolve (GE) features the SPEC cover that we saw on the Crux Prime and the Pro-Motion. The strong Asym (Crux Prime) ball that we released earlier this year was too strong for the conditions that I bowl on. With this in mind, I drilled the GE weaker utilizing a taller pin position to get it to go further down the lane. I think this is the best asymmetrical ball that Storm has released since the Lock. The GE reads the front part of the lane and the mid-lane well but is not as strong as the Crux Prime. To me, the slightly weaker motion will benefit players. I threw my GE on a burnt house pattern with some carry down. On those conditions, the GE revel up in the front part of the lane and just laid in front of the head pin. This is a motion that I love. Strong asymmetrical bowling balls are supposed to rev up and control the pocket-- not jackknife downlane. The GE fits between our Pro-Motion/Physix's and the Crux Prime which will make it house pattern friendly and also friendly on medium to heavy oil conditions. Don't be scared to drill one of these! The Gravity Evolve will take the market by Storm ;)

The new ball in the Storm Premier Line is the Gravity Evolve. Evolve uses the successful Shape Lock HD core wrapped with the SPEC coverstock. (Also found on the Storm Promotion) I drilled mine mainly for tournament patterns, 4 x 5 x 1 and added Storm Step 2 compound pin up. Big Asyms usually don't match up with me, but the Evolve does. I get a really heavy roll and continuation through the pins. Very smooth response to the friction downlane. So thus very controllable but versatile. This is probably the strongest ball in the Storm current line. Stronger overall than the Original Physixs. The evolve will work for all styles, but would favor the higher ball speeds and stroker to tweener styles. Check out the videos below of the versatility of playing different arrows on the lane. Buttery smooth.. This ball needs and loves oil! The ever so popular Shape Lock HD Core makes its return wrapped in a SPEC coverstock. Made to last and built for oil this cover can bring you control and consistency. Match it with the powerful core inside and you have a deadly combination down lane. When I first drilled this ball I attempted to throw it on a burnt up house shot and it literally hooked at my feet. I later went to throw it on a sport pattern with heavy oil and this ball really shined. It will be the first ball out of my bag for heavy sport patterns. I really enjoy how smooth and consistent it is. When it goes through the pins you can hear it at the other end of the bowling alley.

Storm's new hook monster the Gravity Evolve is a mix between old and new for heavier lane conditions. The Evolve features the SPEC Solid Reactive Coverstock wrapped around the famous Shape Lock HD Core. My Gravity Evolve I drilled is about 4 1/2 inches away from my pap drilled above my bridge. This ball for me has a little more roll throughout the lane front to back than the Crux Prime which has the same Coverstock as the Evolve. The Gravity Evolve will be a great addition to an arsenal when the lanes are a little slick and need something to read early and dig through that oil! Storm's new addition to the famous Hy-Road line is the new All-Road! This All-Road features the NRG Hybrid Reactive Coverstock wrapped around the Inverted Fe2 Technology Core. My All-Road is laid out identical as my Hy-Road which is about 4 inches away from my pap with the pin over my ring finger. The one thing I love about this new piece is how well of a compliment this is to the original Hy-Road when it's a little to clean and to much off the spot this new All-Road will be a little earlier and smoother downlane. I fully anticipate a lot of people getting this ball with how well known the Hy-Road is! Go to your local Storm VIP pro shop and get yours today!

If your looking for a ball that pairs greatly with the Pro Motion then look no farther!!!!! When you just can't kick out those corner pins and need a ball with similar shape as the pro motion but need it alittle stronger then the Gravity evolve is it. This ball is strong off the spot and will demolish the pins. And when this ball is to strong to begin with the Pro motion has been my step down ball that will read a tad later and get me the strikes that I need.

I drilled my Gravity Evolve 45 x 4 1/2 x 35. I have hit the surface with 500/2000 abralon. I get a heavy rolling controllable reaction for most any pattern with oil up front. The SPEC cover does require touch up as it will lane shine quickly without touch up. I can use the Gravity Evolve to slow down when their is oil up front and and cleaner backends. Once the oil carries down, the Evolve starts to slow down to early for me and starts to ping tens. I did let it lane shine during a longer practice session and the cover pushed the ball further with that nice arcing backend. This gave me the impression the Evolve can be smoothed out to get more length and conserve more energy for the back ends.

Storm Gravity Evolve. Great new addition to the Storm line. Very strong overall ball. Ball sees the middle of the lane but does not over react. Smooth and continuous at the break point. Goes through the pins very well for a ball that starts its motion sooner on the lane than most other Storm balls. I am able to move left and not worry about losing carry. The surface of the ball will lane shine after 10 games or so, but I think it actually helps the ball reaction. I always use a Storm shammy to keep residual oil off the surface of the ball. This ball has SPEC cover, so the oil absorbs at a slower rate anyway, but using a shammy is a great idea to help maintain the cover stock. I have used this ball on a variety of lane conditions and this ball has been the first ball out almost every time. A very predictable ball for use on a variety of conditions. When you think of the Shape Lock HD core you might think of Storm's best selling asymmetrical ball of all time, Storm Virtual Gravity. Well now they have added the SPEC cover to one of the greatest cores of all time and this ball doesn't disappoint. I drilled mine 5 x 5.5 x 1 and even with the super high pin in this ball it still is very heavy rolling. This ball will be a staple in any bowlers bag for longer patterns or for lower rev players looking for that heavy rolling motion through the pins.

Ball Review: Bringing back one of the most famous cores of all time in the Storm lineup, the Shape-Lock HD core, matched with the new performance coverstock, SPEC, the Gravity Evolve will be a game changer for those heavier oil conditions. The layout we decided to go with is 50 x 3 7/8 x 75. The stronger layout was intended to combat the higher volume oil conditions. What I saw from the Gravity Evolve was a powerful, controllable, heavy yet early rolling asymmetrical bowling ball with significant continuation. I have used this a few times in different environments already and this ball will be a must have for the competitive bowler. What I really liked about the Gravity Evolve was the ability to chase it left for more than 2 games and the ball continuing and not being succumbed to the dreadful plaque. There are many times where the asymmetrical solids are real good to start; however, they begin to burn up towards the beginning to middle of a 2nd game and it's time to transition into something weaker to get the ball to go through the pins the right way. This core matched with the SPEC cover is legitimate and will have you staying with the stranger asym longer in league or tournament play.

Ball Specs: Storm Gravity Evolve 2000 SPEC™ Solid Reactive Weight Shape-Lock™ HD Core (Asymmetrical) Color Gunmetal/Fire/Crimson Review: WOW! That is the reaction after you throw your first shot with this ball. The motion and power this ball brings to the pocket is incredible. Wrapping the SPEC cover with the Shape-Lock™ HD Core brings much more movement than the Crux Prime. The ability to move left, swing the ball, and create this much room is remarkable. Lose focus and miss your mark to the right and this ball will find its way to the pocket no problem. Make sure to wipe your ball with a Storm Shammy after each shot to ensure a clean SPEC coverstock and this ball is an absolute MONSTER! Great for oily conditions and sport shots where you are trying to create some area. Great job Storm! The gravity evolve features the same core found in the original virtual gravity, but is now wrapped in SPEC technology. Anyone that knows me knows how much I love the SPEC cover. With the ultra slow absorption rate it has, I find that it is able to blend over under conditions extremely well. The cover itself is also extremely user friendly, as it doesn't require nearly as much maintenance as other high end covers with faster absorption rates. The gravity evolve has been a staple in my bag ever since I drilled it on fresh medium - longer and higher volume patterns. I have also let it lane shine and used it a ton on over-walled house conditions. When compared to the pro motion, the gravity evolve is a few feet earlier and has a much slower response rate when it encounters friction. This allows you to stay closer to the track area longer and keep your angles shallower through the front part of the lane. I had my new Storm Gravity Evolve drilled up with a 5 x 4 ½ x 2 pin buffer layout. Since the Sure Lock, I've had a hard time finding an aggressive solid surface on a high differential core that didn't fight against me. The Spec surface on the ProMotion really compliments my 400-425 rev rate. But getting a high-flare potential asymmetrical core to make it clean through the hook phase has been tough for me. Especially on typical house shots. The Gravity Evolve immediately looked different. I dedicated 4 solid games to this ball to see how it would react the more I had to move. Out of the box it did as any fresh new surface does; it was clean through the skid phase, strong through the hook phase, and continuous through the roll phase. The true test came as I began making large moves. By game 3 I was a zone or more deeper and the reaction was still true. In game 4 I decided to play with hand position and speed to see just how much I could get away with before really losing the read or carry. Like you would expect, a big asymmetrical core with that kind of surface can only go so far before you either need to ball down or dig really deep for more revolutions. None the less, I was very impress with how far I was able to go before I saw diminished results. Much further than I would expect out of any other aggressive surface and asymmetrical core. This ball would be nicely grouped with the Astro Physics, ProMotion, and an !Q Tour Emerald. Lower rev players will love how it digs into the fresh pattern giving a strong shape off the end of the pattern. High rev players will love being able to keep that ball in play deeper into the league night or tournament squad. #StormNation

Storm is bringing back one of the most iconic cores with one of the best coverstocks on the market with the new Gravity Evolve. The Gravity Evolve brings back the core originally featured in the Virtual Gravity, wrapped with the Spec coverstock. This ball is clean through the front part of the lane and very controllable and smooth throughout the lane. The one thing I can say about this ball, it is that it never does the wrong thing. The Gravity Evolve never does the wrong thing, at least from what I've personally experienced and noticed in other people's hand. The ball never over-hooks and always gives you a predictable and smooth reaction. Compared to the Crux Prime, the Gravity Evolve is cleaner and shaper downlane. Both bowling balls have incredible predictability and smoothness, but the Gravity Evolve retains more energy and has a sharper motion downlane. This ball is a must have in your bag! When you think of the ShapeLock HD core from the famed Virtual Gravity. The Gravity Evolve uses that same core and wraps it in the SPEC cover. I drilled mine 4.75 x 5.5 x 3.75. The Evolve gets into its hook phase nice and early and the SPEC cover helps it handle a good amount of oil. This ball will be in my bag for every medium and long patterns that I bowl on.

The newest "Gravity" ball in the Storm line. The new Gravity Evolve has the SPEC cover on it. I am a big fan of the SPEC covers, and this ball is awesome! Personally, it is the strongest ball I've rolled in a very long time. If you're looking for a solid coverstock that will fight the oil in the heads, but still have a good backend motion Read more about review stating Gravity Evolve, then this ball is for you. I have a standard pin above the bridge drilling on mine, and it's perfect for me. I highly reccomend this ball to anyone needing a stronger end ball.

Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-1/2 x 7/8 up, 365 RPM, 17* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation Ball Layout: 75 x 3 x 35 Finish: Wet Sanded 4000 Let me start by staying that my style of play really matched up well with the Gravity series, so needless to say I was super pumped for this release! I wanted to try something different on this ball given my experiences with the Shape-Lock HD Core. I went with a 75 x 3 x 35 layout which puts the pin just right of my ring finger and PSA in the thumb. What I was looking for was early, controllable roll with continuation to battle over under conditions. After throwing it with OOB finish, it was a too strong up front, way too strong! I took it up with a wet 4000 finish for some sheen, and BOOM! This ball now reads early midlane but doesn't burn up and has enough roll and continuation to carry out those corners! It's been great so far on sport pattern! I did throw another one at a Matchmaker event I worked with a pin in bridge layout and now I'm considering getting another as the strength of this ball really shines in that it doesn't over hook off the spot, but a very strong, continuous motion from the midlane to the pocket. In relation to the Crux Prime, the Gravity is earlier and bigger, a real nice compliment to the Crux Prime. So if you're looking for a bigger, controllable ball with a proven core, go check out the Gravity Evolve and keep bowling up a Storm! Chris Martinez Storm Amateur Staff www.stormbowling.com

Storm Gravity Evolve Cover: Spec Solid Core: Shape Lock HD First of all, let me state that I am a Storm Staffer and I try to highlight the positives in my reviews. With the Gravity Evolve, that part is going to be really easy. This ball is fantastic. I tend to struggle with strong solids. My rev/speed combo is more suited for light-medium oil equipment, with more pearls matching up. But that is not the case with the Gravity Evolve. This ball is extremely versatile. I have used it on Heavy conditions and medium house shots and the ball hasn't missed a beat. So far it has met or exceeded expectations everywhere I have used it. And as for some that are still not sold on the SPEC cover...DO NOT let that stop you from getting this ball. Spec is proving to be a strong, versatile cover and has been a perfect match for the Pro-Motion and Gravity Evolve...and the Crux Prime was pretty decent too!

Gravity Evolve - RG 2.48 - DIFF 0.052 - Welcome back Shape-Lock HD core but now partnered with the SPEC cover gives us one of the hottest balls on the market. This ball will be a multiple drill in my arsenal. The first one I drilled 4 x 3.5 x 1 which allows me to have any earlier and smoother motion to help myself go straighter up the lane and to have smoother balls for longer and heavier patterns. This ball gives you all the hook that you would need and now I know why everyone had been asking for them to bring back the original Virtual Gravity.
