Storm Freak'n Frantic Bowling Ball

(7 reviews) Write a Review

While the original Frantic’s hybrid coverstock created ample backend reaction, the Freak’n Frantic’s pearl mixture amped that characteristic to the next degree. During testing, in fact, the Freak’n Frantic earned its spot in the lineup as the technical team noticed its crisp break point and bold reaction to friction, no matter how far down the lane it began. With a 1500-grit polished finish, the new Freak’n Frantic can be optimized to any bowler style. Those with a lot of ball speed may need to take some of the polish off the surface while others may prefer the factory finish. While the coverstock is crucial to reaction, you have to consider the core as well. The Freak’n Frantic’s N.O.S. core provides the power and, when compared with the Turbine™ core, Storm increased its flare potential by more than 15% with its higher volume. Put it all together and the results are sure to be freak’n frantic...for the pins, at least! Storm - We are “The Bowler’s Company™.”

Freak’n Frantic PAP - 4 3/16 over 1/4 up Ball Speed 17-18 mph Rev Rate 300-350 Right Handed Layout 33 x 4.5 x 33 Surface Preparation: OOB What I was looking for: I really wanted to take advantage of the pearl and get the ball really clean through the heads and react far down the lane. What I got: I got exactly what I wanted out of this ball. It gets through the heads like a dream and gets really far down the lane, then it flies! It is a great ball for playing the track area on house shots and medium volume sport shots. When you need something to get down the lane this is a great ball to do so. This ball paired with my Lights Out or the original Frantic is a great combo. The Lights out and this hook about the same amount from my experience but the Lights Out hooks just a little sooner, due to the Hybrid vs the Pearl. I was looking for a ball to replace the Bandit, a ball that I just couldn’t seem to give up. This ball does just that and then some. I also like the subtle sour apple scent and the Incredible Hulk colors. Steven Fagan Storm Pro Shop Staff Lexington, KY

COVERSTOCK: R2S™ Pearl Reactive WEIGHT BLOCK: N.O.S.™ CoreLIGHT WEIGHT BLOCK: Modified Centripetal™ Core FACTORY FINISH: 1500-grit Polished BALL COLOR: Lime/Violet DUROMETER: 74-76 Rex D-scale FLARE POTENTIAL: 4” - 5” (Medium-High) FRAGRANCE: Freak’n Apple WEIGHTS: 10-16 lbs. SKU: TKF My layout: 65 x 4 1/2 "x 35 My PAP: 4 3/4" over 1 5/8 up If I had to choose between solid or pear bowling balls, my preference is definitely solid ones. I bowl tournaments just about every weekend in the Northeast, and I am finding a need to use pearl balls more and more. One of my favorites over the past year was the Storm Fringe, and the Freak’n Frantic is here to take it place. When the patterns are too short, or contain less volume, and when my solid ball {either the IQ Tour or Marvel S} starts to spend too much energy early, I know it is time to ball down and the Freak’n Frantic is a good choice to have in my bag. The need to ball down seems to be happening more often and faster lately. What is very nice about the Freak’n Frantic is I don’t have to work at all to get it through the heads, and the ball bounces at the end of the pattern, and makes a very nice strong move toward the pocket. The hard move the ball makes in the back end explodes the pins into the pit, or tosses them around the deck like lawn chairs sitting outside in a hurricane. This ball has been out for over 3 months now, and to be honest I haven’t seen many people using it in my travels. Please don’t let that fool you because I feel the Freak’n Frantic is a sleeper ball, and it is a great value especially for its price point. Give yourself more options by putting the Freak’n Frantic in your bag.

Freakin Frantic Ball speed 17mph, 400 RPMs, layout: 50 x 5 x 40 I decided to get the Freakin Frantic because I needed a ball that would get down the lane as easily as my pin above bridge crossroad but have more of a move off the spot. With this drilling the Freakin does exactly what I needed it to do, but I was also very surprised with how responsive this ball was to my hand position. I was also very surprised with how well this ball worked on slightly heavier volume and shorter length patterns just by adjusting my roll. I haven’t changed the surface from OOB yet and have used it for 12-15 tournament games. I would recommend this ball for anyone looking for a medium versatile ball that looks great and smells even better. Jordan Jung Storm Amateur Staff Vancouver, BC, Canada.

The proven R2S™ Pearl Reactive cover stock and N.O.S. Core get a new lease on life in the Freak’N Frantic. I drilled this ball 50 x 5 ½ x 60, this pin down drilling allows me to have a smooth break point that’s predictable on the back end, and this ball gives me a moderate read in the mid lane and keeps the pins low once it enters the pins. I kept the surface out of the box at first, but as the cover stock wore I refinished it at 3000 with light polish. I could then use this ball on a variety of patterns anywhere from Cheetah to Viper.

My Freak'n Frantic Layout: 65 degrees x 4 1/8" by 2 3/4" When I first read about the Freak'n Frantic I saw the same thing as most everyone else has mentioned. Technically it was the same ball as the Fringe (same core, same cover but different color/scent). This didn't excite me very much since I've had a love/hate relationship with my Fringe. I loved the reaction shape it gave me but with my higher ball speed I could easily throw it through the break when bowling on a little bit of oil. Once I had a chance to throw a Freak'n Frantic at a MatchMaker and I was immediately impressed and convinced that it was not quite the same ball as the Fringe but more of a pearlized version of the Frantic. The Frantic is a ball I still like very much, being a straighter player it's a piece that helps me open up the back part of the lane. It gave me length without completely giving away the midlane. I was excited to see a similarly drilled Freak'n Frantic gave me a little more length (3-4 boards less overall hook compared to the Frantic) without completely losing that midlane roll. I don't see quite as much continuation out of the Freak'n Frantic compared to the Frantic but that could have more to do with the slightly stronger layout of the Freak'n Frantic than the ball itself. Overall I am very impressed with the performance of this mid-level pearl and plan to have it my bag for quite some time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkBEwp-DIZg Conditions I have used the Freak'n Frantic on: 40' THS, 42' THS, 2013 USBC Nationals Doubles/Singles (39'), Turnpike (41') Where it fits in my bag: Ball down from IQ Tour/IQ Tour Pearl/Reign of Power, Ball up from Black/Cherry Tropical Breeze. When I use it: When I want to play the track or right of the track on a fresh house shot or when a solid stops making the corner.

The Freakn Frantic is very clean through the front and makes a strong move on the back end. I drilled my Freakn Frantic rico. Which is pin in the center 45 degrees from pap. It goes super long and very strong. To me out of box it was a little flippy for me even though it opened the lane up. I then hit it with reacta scuff by Storm and wow did it make a dif. Now it has a little more mid lane but still gets through the front, but now its shape is more rolly and still drives through the pins with amazing power. I would recommend this ball to anyone who need the ball to skid through the front and make the corner for you. When the lanes break down and you need to open it up it will Freakin do it. Storm Freak’n Frantic Ball Review After big a big fan of the Frantic, it was going to be hard to not be a bigger fan of the Freak’n Frantic. Within the first three weeks of throwing this puppy down the lane, I have had (3) 800 series and (3) 300’s. The one I drilled is 5 x 4 with a mid-size hole 2 inches under my pap. That drilling gives me a great read on how the lanes are playing and in which direction I should go in my arsenal. Because this core tends to roll heavier for me, I didn’t touch the surface out of the box. Recently, at a tournament in Orlando, the shape looked great but I needed it to read the mid-lane a hair sooner. I lightly scuffed the surface with 1000 pad and it suddenly rolled just like the original Frantic. If you had drilled a Frantic, liked the motion, but need something that’s two or three feet cleaner down lane with a quicker response time, I would definitely drill a Freak’n Frantic. I feel like this ball can be used on multiple lane conditions because of its stable core. It’s not as early as some of the stronger, asymmetrical balls and is not as weak as a Lights Out or Tropical Breeze. This is definitely a great addition to the “Hot” line and should be a great fit for many types of players.
