The Dark Code features the new ReX pearl coverstock and extremely strong asymmetric RAD4 core. ReX is a blend or combination of the NeX pearl cover from the Axiom Pearl, and the legendary R2S pearl cover from balls like the Hyroad Pearl, IQ Emerald, and Astro PhysiX to name a few recent ones. Together they combine the strength and lane blending of NeX with the consistency and friction response of R2S. The RAD4 core which has been in dozens of Code line releases has a 2.50 RG, .058 differential and a .020 split or intermediate differential, making it one of the strongest cores out there. It creates a very familiar strong, rolly, and continuous motion which feels a lot like a stronger symmetric core with a lot more torque. ReX and the RAD4 core together in the Dark Code makes for the strongest shiny ball I've ever thrown outside of maybe the Parallax Effect. The Dark is slightly earlier and rounder, but also a bit smoother. The ball motion and shape reminds me naturally of balls like the Code Black and Astro PhysiX, but orders of magnitude stronger. You'll feel the difference less on regular league conditions, but on any kind of volume, the Dark is still going to dig hard while the Black and Astro begin to fade. I rate the Dark Code a 9 for hook, a 5 for length, and a 7 for backend strength.

Review Dark Code R2X Pearl Cover 1500 Polished RG: 2:50 Differential: 0.058 PSA: 0.020 Drilling: 55 x 3 ¼ x 45 What a surprise!! This is the first ball I have thrown in the Code series. I never know what to expect when I drill up a Asym ball, the Dark code really surprised me. It has the smooth ball motion that I really like very predictable, and man does it pick up down lane. This ball makes me look like I have a ton of rev rate which I don't. I believe this is what gives this ball some crazy carry when it hits the pins. For the past several months the Zen Pearl has been the first ball out of my bag. When the Zen goes a little to long and will not quit finish out comes the Dark Code. I can move in a little and know this ball will come around the corner. It is very predictable reads the mid-lane very well and its crazy off the spot. The Dark Code a strong smooth Asym pearl good continuation. It allows me to play straighter and move in when needed. Check our your local Storm VIP Pro shop Dark code will be a great addition to any arsenal.

If you're looking for that signature clean yet forward motion that we have come to expect from the code series balls, look no further. The Dark Code clears the front as well as the Astro Physix but has a quicker but more forward response time than the Astro. This ball will be good on the drier house conditions if you elect to keep the surface shiny, but don't be scared to take some surface to it. I feel like the Code series balls are core heavy reactions and when you knock the shine off of the Dark Code, you'll really see that core dominate and control the pocket. I have really enjoyed the versatility of this piece and I think you will too.

Storm Dark Code Hey everyone, I'm back with another ball review, and this time it's for the Storm Dark Code and In 15 pounds this ball is wrapped in the REX Pearl Reactive Coverstock and comes 1500-grit polished with an RG of 2.49, Diff of .056 and PSA of .022. What can you say about this ball that the name doesn't already say? It's a CODE BALL!!! As most bigger balls they get through the fronts very well and has a great reaction off the pattern. I have seen this ball work best from a longer medium pattern all the way to fresh lanes. The traction in this ball is much similar to that of the pervious code balls. It's a great ball to and can follow the moves at least two zones before I needed a ball that didn't boom off the spot. The latest addition to both the Code Series and the Premier line is the Dark Code. After drilling all of the prior Code balls (Code Black, Code Red, Code X), I was excited to see the Dark Code being released for us to throw. With an upgraded ReX pearl coverstock and an asymmetric engine, the Dark Code is a perfect addition to the line and is extremely versatile. After drilling one so far and loving it, I plan to drill another one because of how versatile is. I mapped the first one out as 5.75 x 4.5 x 60. This puts the pin above my middle finger and the mass bias just to the right of my thumb. After throwing it for a few shots, I took the shine off with a 3000 pad and it smoothed the response time down. I've had the most success using the Dark Code once a pattern breaks down and the pattern stretches. Also, I've put up big numbers when I've been able to stand left, throw right, and open my angles. I believe the Dark Code compliments the Proton Physix, RST X-1, and Zen extremely well. If you're looking for a ball that is clean, responsive down lane, and goes through the pins great, especially when a pattern starts to break down, the Dark Code should be the next ball you drill! #StormNation

The Dark Code features a brand new REX or (Reactor Extreme) Pearl reactive coverstock with the RAD4 Asymmetric Core. The Dark Code has a low RG of 2.50 a high differential of 0.058 and a low intermediate differential of 0.020. To bring this all together, the REX coverstock is a combination of the popular NEX coverstock with R2S. The NEX coverstock seen in the Axiom and Proton Physics and the R2S we have seen in the Astro Physics and IQ Emerald. The Dark Code is going to give you a very smooth roll very clean through the midlane and save all its energy for the backend. It will allow you to get left to right very easily. The layout chosen was a 75 x 3 ¾ by 80 which will give the ball a medium entry angle to smooth out the wet/dry on a house shot that's either seen right away on the fresh or in the transition games. I did a ball comparison to the 900 Global Zen, Storm Code Black and Strom Trend. First up is the 900 Global Zen, the Zen is the hottest ball on the market for Global right now and as you can see the Zen blends the midlane very well and reacts very strong off the spot for symmetric ball. The Zen is _____ stronger than the Dark Code. Next is the Code Black, the Code Black and Dark Code have the same numbers, same core but the Dark Code has a different coverstock additive. The addition of the REX with R2S really shines here because you see how the Dark Code is stronger by _____ boards then the Code Black. The big difference you will see is how much sooner the Dark Code reads the midlane verses the Code Black. The last ball in the comparison portion of the video is the Storm Trend. The Trend has the R2S coverstock as well with a symmetric core but the Trend rolls very similar to an asymmetric core on how it changes direction very quick with the Piston core with a corkscrew type motion. The Dark Code is at least 2 boards stronger than the Trend. In my bag, the Dark Code can be a first out the bag or at very close second to the RST X-1 when its starts to burn up and leave flat tens. A ball down to the Dark Code could be a Trend or a Hustle PBR.

Layout: 40 x 4 3/8 x 40 The Dark Code is a slightly more aggressive version of the great Code Black from a few years ago. The Code Black was a highly versatile asymmetric pearl that was a big hit, and the Dark Code follows perfectly in those footsteps. I find it to be slightly smoother than the reaction that I got from the Code Black, but that helps it to conquer heavier oil conditions. It has a good mix of strong midlane and backend that helps it fit perfectly between balls like the Proton Physix or Incite, and balls like the Trend or HyRoad. I am able to use it on fresh, especially when the cover has been lightly hit with a 2000 or 3000 pad, or keep it out of the box and use it on medium to medium-heavy conditions.

Storm didn't just revive the Code Black and re-brand it, they used experience to create the next generation of one of the most popular lines in recent history, The Dark Code. Storm took the ever dependable and highly successful R2S cover and scienced it up a bit by mixing in components of the NeX cover to get the R2X. I spent some time with Scott Bijolle in the shop at Gold Crown Lanes in St. Johnsbury Vermont. Sticking with Layout option 1 (of my 3), I went with a 4.25x1.5x4. Fully knowing this was going to flare big and flip hard on the dry. Afterall, that's basically what the Code Black did and I LOVED it. After a few shots just to find a line, I quickly found that this ball was a beefed-up version of the Black. On shots I thought might skid right through the break, the ball began shaping up in the mid-lane and instead of rolling out, it took a left turn an obliterated the pocket. I tried tightening up my angles and saw the same thing, like it was programed to know where the pocket was from any angle. If I opened it up and really threw it at the ditch, it found it's way to the pocket with very minimal deflection through the rack. I've always loved the RAD core, and who doesn't love the R2S? Storm took tried and true technology and improved it to revive the "Code" series in what may end up being the best one yet! Brian Sumner Storm Amateur Staff Gold Crown Lanes, St. Johnsbury, VT

The new storm dark code is a hook monster. It has the RAD4 core and the ReX Pearl Reactive coverstock. This ball is going to be great for players that love to get left because this ball just keeps going. The continuation of this ball is like none i've seen from a asymmetric bowling ball. If you loved the Rubicon UC2 you're going to love this ball. It allows you to get deeper with traction through the middle of the lane. Get to your local pro shop because this is a must have in the bag for an Asymmetric Pearl.

The blend of NEX and R2S covers puts this ball in a unique spot in the line. Wrapping it around the RAD 4 core teams up a monster core with an incredibly dynamic cover to create big hook and a very unique read of the lanes. NEX being the absolute top of the line in midlane read has created some of the most powerful balls on the market lately. R2S is the legend that keeps coming back because it seems to be a guaranteed winner no matter what core you use with it. The blend of these two covers has created motion that almost feels like an optical illusion. The Dark Code isn't early, but it sees the midlane. It's not snappy but you can't really call it overly smooth either. What it seems to do is give you midlane motion that never really seems to stop. The powerful RAD4 core gives it a big engine so you end up with a polished ball that is useful when there's oil on the lane, but doesn't slow way down. This allows you to keep the great continuation through the pins as you move left, without ever really losing the ability of the ball to see the mid-lane. My first experience with the Dark Code was in league. To combat the summer heat the house had juiced up the middle of the lane a bit. This made them super cliffed because of how much the outside hooked. No problem for the Dark Code, it blended them perfectly. I was honestly very surprised that I was able to throw it because I usually end up struggling to get stronger balls down-lane on the house shot. I also often struggle with the weaker balls being a bit unpredictable because there is so much dry to the right. Dark Code opened up more area than I think I've ever had on that shot. It allowed me to control the backend without sacrificing carry. I also had the opportunity to throw the Dark Code on a 44 foot challenge pattern. It was fantastic in the middle games where I would normally struggle in the transition. I was amazed at how much "get back" this ball had on the longer pattern. I felt like I easily had the most miss room right on our pair. This is a ball that is a must for tournament bowlers. When you need to overpower more oil and have confidence on how your ball is going through the pins, this is the ball for you.

Oh my gosh; I am in love! Storm introducing the news asymmetrical pearl to hit the market, the Dark Code. The Dark Code features the same core as featured in the Code line, only wrapped with a Nex Pearl coverstock. This ball is unreal to say the least. In my personal opinion, this ball is the perfect compliment to the Rubicon UC2. I absolutely not the UC2, but when the UC2 is too clean to throw on the fresh or first transition, the Dark Code does the job and it has a very similar shape. The Dark Code can handle oil very well, better than any asymertrical pearl I have thrown in quite sometime, and I have matched up so well with this core. You're not going to want to miss out on this amazing piece from Storm. Go to your local VIP Pro Shop and get yours today!

Rad4 core and the Rex coverstock not only sound like a great combination. They are a great combination. Lots of hook for a pearl with plenty of angle in the backend. Works great from me to start out and if they breakdown to muck my UC2 fits perfectly behind it.

As always, I would like to thank Storm for providing the equipment I use every time I step out onto the lanes and Logo Infusion for making sure I always look good no matter what! Today I will be bowling on a standard medium volume house shot. The Dark Code features the Rad 4 core found in all the previous code balls but is now wrapped in REX pearl. This direct quote from Storm explains the design intent behind the Dark Code. "Some bowling balls immediately sink their teeth into the lane in order to provide traction in oil. Others glide through the front part of the lane with ease, saving all their energy for an explosive backend reaction. But, what happens when you have a ball that's capable of offering both?" What this boils down to is a high differential and lower RG core that wants stability as soon as you release it wrapped in a higher friction pearl cover. The REX cover takes the best characteristics of R2S, known for its longevity and versatility as well as a quicker response time from steeper angles; and combines it with the insane traction NEX produces. I've found that the Dark Code is truly the best of both worlds. I am able to trap the ball with closed angles and still have it slow down enough to blend the friction and with a small hand position I can open up my angles and allow the ball to respond faster off the friction once the pattern is more developed. I was able to use the Dark Code for the first time on a 47' 3:1 sport pattern games 2-6 and it looked fantastic the whole time. Two days later in league I was able to throw it on our fresh house shot and started off with a spare then rattled off 14 in a row. When compared to the Parallax Effect, the Dark Code is a touch longer and more responsive down lane. Compared to the Axiom Pearl, the Dark Code is earlier and stronger overall. Storm's brand new Asymmetric Pearl is the Dark Code! This ball features a brand new Coverstock called ReX Pearl wrapped around the RAD4 Core which was previously seen in the Code line of balls from Storm! What you will see in this ball is a very clean Asymmetric motion for heavier lane conditions! My Dark Code that I have drilled is pin over my bridge with the Mass Bias right next to my thumb and this ball reminds me a lot of a stronger Hy-Road X! When I'm talking about a stronger motion is it's very clean through the front part of the lane but on the backend it can be smooth and can also be pretty quick down lane! The Dark Code is a little bit cleaner than the Parallax Effect or even a UFO Alert! This ball will add a different shape for the medium-heavier lane conditions that you can't get with any other ball! Drilling: Pin above bridge with mass bias kicked 2 inches right. Dual angle: 60 X 4 X 40 I've enjoyed all of the 'Code' bowling balls that Storm has came out with, and the Dark Code is going to be another one that I'm going to really enjoy throwing. The Dark Code features a new coverstock called the Rex and it also has the RAD4 core inside of it. The Dark Code is an asymmetrical bowling ball, and I will say I typically don't like throwing shiny or pearl asymmetrical bowling balls - they're too early for me and lose too much energy down lane. The Dark Code has to be one of the cleanest asymmetrical balls I've ever thrown - it stores so much energy for myself, and it tears off the breakpoint. It's not a ball I would use on fresh on a ton of oil, but it will be a great transition ball for me to go to when one of my dull balls become too early.

Dark Code features the RAD4 core wrapped in a brand new coverstock in ReX. This cover is a blend of R2S and NeX and man it does not disappoint! Over the past month I have had lots of success with this ball. I had 300 with Dark Code within the first week of throwing it. I also took it to a one ball tournament and put 3,000 on it and it still rolled amazing. This ball can definitely handle surface and shine and will roll great no matter what the lane condition is giving you. The new Storm Dark Code is going to be a staple in my bag for quite some time. I needed a ball that complemented the Rubicon UC2 and this ball does just that. When I compared these two balls in my ball review, the Dark Code was just as clean but even stronger on the back end. This means that you can get even further left with the Dark Code than previously with the Rubicon UC2, and still see the ball go through the pins the right way. On heavier oil patterns the Dark Code can be used as well with a little bit more surface. This ball will thrive on house shots so I'm excited to throw this during summer leagues! The ultra popular RAD4 core is back and this time it features a brand new cover formula ReX, which is NeX and R2S combined. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 1 and for comparison purposes, I compared it to the Roto Grip RST X-1, which I have also drilled the same way. After throwing the Dark Code, I was quite amazed on how strong this ball was and how much it continued to angle down lane. It is just a couple boards strong than the RST but the shapes of the ball are totally different. The RST is a lot more of a smoother angled shape into the pocket, where the Dark Code you can see the cover dig in and once it makes its motion it doesn't quit. I can see myself using this ball later in blocks on longer patterns where I still need a strong but angular motion.

The new Storm Dark Code brings back the Rad 4 Core from the original Code Series balls but with a new enhanced pearl coverstock the REX. The REX Coverstock is a combo of the NEX and R2S coverstocks to form a new reaction that gives you the strong midlane read of the NEX cover with the angular backend of the R2S cover. This coverstock and Core combination give quite a unique reaction in the Storm Lineup. Not only can this ball handle oil, but it still gives you the backend you expect from a Storm Pearl ball. For me, I would use this ball on heavier oil house patterns or on high volume sport patterns of various lengths. This ball is a good step down from the Proton Physix or Incite which will give longer length and more angle in the back end. If you have/had a Code Black, you will see a stronger midlane motion in the dark code while still giving that same angular backend motion. Compared to the Parallax Effect, the Dark Code will again give you an earlier read on the lane while providing a slightly more angular back end motion. Adam Chase Storm Staff

The Dark Code is an extremely strong, dynamic asymmetric pearl from Storm. With a 2.50 RG, .058 differential and .020 intermediate differential in 15 pounds, this ball wants to get going once it sees friction and do a lot of it. I went with a 45x5.5.25 layout on mine, which tamed down a little of the flare potential but still retained enough of it to keep a great shape down the lane. I found it very easy to just roll off of my hand and not have to force it to not hook early. If it sees early friction in the mids, for me, it did want to stand up and go left off of it. The good thing being, I did not get to a point where I was too far left, getting as far as 6th arrow and still striking on the used house condition I was on. I can see this being a fantastic choice for medium to high speed bowlers, as well as bowlers of all rev rates. The ball seemed to be most comfortable left of 15, for my style. I had to be extremely precise with my hand position playing close to the dry as it wanted to hook immediately. Another great piece from Storm!
