Storm Dark Code Coverstock: ReX Pearl Reactive Weight Block: RAD4 Core Finish: 1500-grit polished The Dark Code is one strong, smooth pearl. Storm pearls generally have a reputation for being skid/flip...but not this one. For my style it is comparable to the Parallax Effect in overall strength, just a bit earlier and smoother reaction. I can see it being a good ball down from my Reality/Proton Physix or maybe as a starting ball when I need pearl and rounded shape. Proven core, new strong pearl cover formulation adds a different pearl shape in the Storm line. The Dark Code will be helpful for most any bowler's game.

Strong pearl ball that is really smooth and continuous. For a big core and a big pearl cover, this ball is still very readable and sees the midlane well. If you were a fan of the Code Black, this is the new and improved version! #StormNation

With the combination of RAD4 Core and the new ReX Pearl coverstock, Storm has once again hit a winner! Let's take a look at how the Dark Code handled a THS. The new ReX Pearl cover was surprisingly aggressive on fresh oil. While looking up the ten board, the ReX Pearl cover read very well in the mid-lane and gave me a predictable look I could depend on. Coming off the pattern, I was impressed with how much this ball loves friction. It displayed a crisp turn off the pattern but was also smooth and continuous! As I moved inside, looking fifteen to eighteen, I liked how this cover allowed me to move the breakpoint. I didn't see the "jump" or erratic movements you tend to see as conditions break down. It's not often a box finish works for me, but the 1500-Polish surface on the ReX Pearl suits my game quite well in various THS patterns and various houses. I am a big fan of Asymmetric Cores, and the bigger, the better. And the RADCORE4 is just that - big and powerful! The RADCORE4 motion is well suited for a lower rev, high-speed player like me. It revs reasonably early for an asymmetric, yet it has an authoritative movement that gave me the strong impact I depend on. I like how RADCORE4 retains its energy to the pocket. And when it unleashed its fury, the carry potential was fun to watch! It always feels good when those pins simply seem to fall! My conclusion is that the Dark Code is an effective ball for your arsenal. The Dark Code will deliver for you night after night for speed dominant and lower rev rate players. In addition, the Dark Code will score for you on any THS pattern, especially when there is a large volume of oil! I highly recommend this ball for any player like me. Trust me – you will enjoy the Dark Code's benefits. So see your local Pro Shop operator today and enjoy the rewards of owning a Storm Dark Code. The Dark Code - I drilled this up with the intention of having a ball with similar motion and saved energy to my Rubicon UC2 but on a slightly heavier volume of oil. This was exactly what I got. If you remember my review on the uc2 I was floored by the way it drives through the pin deck. The Dark Code saves a ton of energy and feels like it never gets lazy on me. I can be comfortable with it on a fresh house shot while being able to throw it all three games in most sets. I love how clean it is in the front but still rolls late in the mids without giving up on the back. The UC2 will follow this piece so well in those linger sets and keep my eyes in a similar part of the lane. If you want that "everywhere" ball and like drive on the back end Id say get yourself a Dark Code ASAP! PS.. the Cherry smells incredible!

Compared to the code Black, it reads the mids a little more which smoothed the overall reaction out. This ball would have fit perfectly between the Code Red and the Code Black. The Pearl ReX cover is strong enough for a decent amount of oil and skids enough to use on medium-dry. It's also very receptive to surface changes and different layouts. Straighter players can go up the boards and stronger/high rev players can move inside and bump it. Ron D'Ambrosio Storm Amateur Staff #StormNation #SquadRG #900Global

Storm Dark Code Layout - 55 x 5 x 35 Really liking what I've seen out of this ball! One of if not the cleanest big core ball we have made in a while! My standard layout is optimal for the design intent of this ball, very clean through the front of the lane with lots of down lane continuation! I personally found this ball best used taking the factory shine off of it, it seemed to "match up" better with 2000. When the Proton Physix gets too early and lazy in the back its because it is burning up, that when its time to go to Dark Code! This is one is a must have!

Dark Code is all i expected and then some. It features the rad4 cover wrapped in the Rex pearl cover stock. This ball clears the fronts with ease reads the mids very aggressively and makes a smooth continuous motion down lane and through the pins. Love using this ball when i am trying to open up the lane and play bigger angles. This ball is a perfect and must have in your arsenal,

Storm Dark Code Bowlers Info: RH tweener, PAP 4-1/2 x 7/8 up, 365 RPM, 17* of Axis tilt, 60* of Axis Rotation Ball Layout: 40 x 5 x 50 Finish: Light 3000 Storm has brought back the successful RAD4 core that was used in the Code Black and combined that with the new ReX pearl coverstock. Now, I was really hoping that this was going to be a Code Black relaunch as that ball was something special. I drilled my Dark Code with my previous Code Black layout putting pin over bridge, CG kicked right and boom, the left turn signal came on and it made a HARD left! The hard read off the backend was a bit too much for my liking, very hockey stick motion and definitely bigger than the original Code Black. I hit it by hand with 3000 and that did the trick. This ball has done very well for me on houses that have Anvil/harder surfaces or longer oil sport conditions. So if your needing a bigger, strong pearl talk to your pro shop about the Dark Code and as always bowl up a Storm! Chris Martinez Storm Amateur Staff www.stormbowling.com

I'm a higher rev bowler, and the Dark Code has quickly become one of my favorites. It's been a staple in my bag since I drilled one. The RAD-4 core is incredibly strong, but provides a round and very continuous shape through the pins for me. The new cover is a blend of the NEX pearl seen on the axiom pearl, and the iconic R2S pearl seen on balls such as the hy-road pearl. This gives it plenty of friction response and strength, while still giving it a controlled reaction. I think players with more hand will love this ball from deeper angles, while players with less hand will benefit from the shape this core/cover combination provides throughout the lane. If you're looking for a pearl asymm that still picks up well in the middle of the lane, this is your ball! Evan Mitten Storm Staff #StormNation

Ball Specs Storm Dark Code 1500 ReX™ Pearl Reactive Weight Block: RAD4™ Core (Asymmetrical) Color: Obsidian Review: The Dark Code continues the tradition of strong performances from the Code series. The Dark Code offers a unique blend of NeX and R2S cover stocks. The combination offers a strong midlane with an angular backend motion. Even with this strong backend motion the ball is overall very predictable and can be enjoyed bowlers of all skill levels. I put this ball in my bag as a replacement for my Code Black and I have not been disappointed by that choice one bit. If you enjoy striking you should pick up one of these balls ASAP. Cracked the Code The Storm Dark Code is a ball that gives me everything I want and need on our house shot. I've been using it every league night on our 44ft House shot. Scores have been great 761, 730, 770 to start the season. This ball has the proven RAD4 core that has been around since the X-Factor series nearly 20 years ago. This pearl reactive REX combines r2S and NEX covers. It rolls a bit sooner than the old Code Black. I drilled mine 4.5x4x2. To me its on of those balls that reads the midlane well and transitions to the dry with control. Very nice clean motion off the spot. I can get away playing almost any line. Been most comfortable starting around 17 at the arrows and just bumping it out to the 5-10 area. I have a ton of area with it. It carries very well, I see a lot of those old late trip 4's. To compare, when it gets to be too much or I need something a touch less, I switch to my shined IQ Tour Nano Pearl. My PAP is 5-1/8 and 1/8 up. Usually around 15-16mph, I'd probably be classified between and tweener and cranker.

Ball Specs: Storm Dark Code 1500 ReX™ Pearl Reactive Weight Block: RAD4™ Core (Asymmetrical) Color: Obsidian Review: The dark code has been a hot seller in our shop. The name is great, the color is great, and the motion that the ReX cover and RAD4 core bring is even better. The cover is a blend of the NeX and R2s. What this means is that you will see a strong midlane and angular backend motion (that you would expect from a Storm pearl cover. Overall, this ball handles the lane in a very predictable way and is our current first out of bag on most patterns). The versatility is amazing and therefore can be used playing multiple parts of the lane with various speeds and rotation. The code series has never disappointed, and this is just more proof that this line is for real!! I am going to start off by comparing this to the Zen. Simply put, even though one is asymmetrical and one is symmetrical they have very similar looks for me. As smooth as it rolls it never seems to quite when entering the pocket. That is big for someone like me without a ton of revs or hand in the ball. I was quite shocked with just how smooth this ball was being it is asymmetrical and REX Pearl. I typically bowl on a THS for my leagues on what is considered pretty dry. The Dark Code blends the lane out perfectly making the transition periods less dramatic. I would also like to note that the smell of this ball is AMAZING. I only wish it would hold as strong as the OG HyRoad does!

Ok everyone, sorry if I'm a little late....BUT...Wow what a great ball! I like to throw a ball in different houses, different leagues, a couple tournaments. Now this is for me...I hit it with a 4000 pad after I threw it a few games. For me it was going a bit to long. I have some games on it after hitting it with the 4000 pad and I'm SO Happy with this ball. Its a great ball out of the bag. I normally start standing 25 and throwing 3rd arrow (15 board) Take it out to the 10 board. In reality I have a few boards to play with this ball. LOL...the 10 pin loves me though. But hey...it was a great shot. Adjust a little and your back on it. Its a great ball....and it smells AWESOME lol!!!

The Storm Dark Code features a very strong RAD4 asymmetrical core, which can flare a whole lot. The all-new ReX coverstock produces a very good front-to-back reaction. The performance you get out of the Dark Code is truly unmatched. This bowling ball has become my 'go to' when needing a cleaner asymmetrical ball. Since the Dark Code has so much flare potential, I drilled my first Dark Code with my favorite pin down layout to reduce some of that available flare: 55 x 5 x 75. I am really impressed with the versatility of the Dark Code. I have been able to use this ball on multiple lane surfaces and different oil patterns. I am surprised with smooth reaction I get with the Dark Code knowing how strong this core is. Since the cover on the Dark Code is on the cleaner side, it works great on older and more 'beat up' lane surfaces as well. In my opinion, the Dark Code is best when bowling on medium length oil patterns where the launch angles need to be a little bit more open. I have had much success with this ball in my recent tournaments where I needed to really open-up my launch angles. This ball is so strong that it really likes to go away from the pocket. I am looking forward to drilling another Dark Code very soon!

Storm Dark Code: Coverstock: ReX Pearl Reactive Weight Block: RAD4 Core Finish: 1500-grit polished Layout: 4.5 x 5 x 2 Testing on a 43ft THS with recent changes to the amount of reverse oil to help calm down the early hook that the center's lane panels have, I first found it quite challenging on the fresh to develop a good clean look, a little earlier hook then I was expecting, but once the pattern started to develop a little push of oil down lane, the overall performance of the ball became quite amazing. More control without losing any carrying power through the pins. Went to another center that has newer SPL with a longer length house pattern and found the Dark Code worked so much better on the fresh. The DARK CODE did not over hook on the pattern like similar balls I used in that same house. I tend to have over / under there when using benchmark balls like Idols and stronger ASYMS like The Nuclear Cells in this center and seemed to always be "between" balls. I found a great ball to use in this center at the start of this coming bowling season and it is the DARK CODE

Here we go! I am so excited for this release! I had huge success with the CodeX as well as the other code series balls. This core combined with the new REX cover is something special. The cover is is unlike any other pearl I've ever thrown. It's earlier and stronger but it still packs a punch generating angle down lane. Obviously if you wanted to add more teeth, you can hit the cover with an abralon pad. I like to drill my Code Balls a little on the weaker side so I used the same layout on my Dark Code as what I have on my CodeX and Code Red. The Dark Code features the tried-and-true RAD4 Core found in all the previous Code releases, but this new Code is wrapped in the new Rex Pearl Reactive Coverstock. The first time I threw this ball I could tell it was going to be something special. For me, this is one of those balls that the more you throw it away from the pocket into the dry, the more the ball continues to hook. The polished finish makes the Dark Code extremely clean through the front part of the lane but once it encounters friction it makes a very strong move to the pocket. On a typical house shot this ball is a head turner because of its strong motion at the breakpoint and the way it continues through the pins. The Dark Code sends messengers with the best of them. I did encounter a heavy volume, 44 foot pattern that I just could not get the Dark Code to hook enough. Again, because of the polished finish, the Dark Code just never read this particular pattern. I also would not recommend the Dark Code on the shorter patterns as it could be hard to control off the spot. Any typical house shot or medium pattern which has a good amount of friction to the right will allow the Dark Code to excel.

Dark Code: The Dark Code features the new ReX pearl cover and RAD4 asymmetric core. The RAD4 core is one of the strongest cores Storm offers with numbers of 2.50 RG, .058 diff and .020 intermediate diff. I drilled mine 4.5" x 5" with a 3" pin buffer. This gives me some length and a medium-strong shape on the back. My initial thoughts on the Dark code are that the cover picks up the lane sooner than I thought it would, which is a testament to how strong the ReX cover is. So, if you are rev dominant or have slower speed you may want to caution against too strong of a drilling. I really like the way the Dark Code rolls, I can still see some of the shape that I loved out of the Code Black (RIP) but with a noticeable upgrade. I can see this ball being a house shot killer when they're cliffed.

The new Storm Dark Code was the first in the code line of balls that i have had the opportunity to add to my arsenal. With lots of hype and success surrounding the code line i was excited to add the dark code to my arsenal. I drilled my Dark Code 5 x 3 x 1 1/2 which landed the pin above my ring finger and the Mass Bias Right next to my thumb hole. My First Reaction to the Storm Dark Code was quite interesting, this ball for me is quite clean through the fronts but does not go to far, it revs up in the mid lane and provides me a rolly continuous motion at the breakpoint. This ball fits in my arsenal between my Parallax Effect which for me is slightly stronger up front and more down lane compared to the dark code. and my 900 Global Zen Which is similar just a step down from my Dark Code. Also to note the fragrance was a home Run on this ball as the cherry delight smells absolutely delicious! Roto Grip Staffer, Ko's Proshop Staff Chase Roloson

I drilled the DARK CODE up 75 x 5 x 30. I have touched up the surface with 2000 abr lightly. i wanted to get a long and strong reaction with this one. The DARK CODE is the long/strong reaction that many are looking for. Compared to my UFO ALERT, the DARK CODE comes off the spot faster. The ALERT rolls thru it while the CODE jumps off the spot. Touching the surface with the 2000 pad made it more controllable. I also tried my RST-X2 in the same spot and the CODE is still stronger at the spot than the X2. The DARK CODE gives me the impression that if you are looking for something to get left and send it right, this is the ball.

The new ball in Storm Premier line is the Dare Code. I really liked the code series balls so was really looking forward to the Dark Code. The very popular Code Black was a great ball. Bowlers are trying to compare the Dark Code with Code Black. But the Code Black was very clean and angular. The Dark Code with the NEX cover really blends the shape very well. Dark Code is still fairly clean, good midlane and a rounded shape downlane. I drilled mine pin down with a 5 inch pin. I have only used the ball on a couple sport patterns and was very impressed. The Dark Code just seems to read the lane the right way. When Kyle Troup says that the Dark Code might replace the Phaze 2 as his go to ball sure says a lot! To me the Dark Code is one of those special balls that bowlers will be talking about for awhile! Brian Watson PAP - 4 up 3/4 Tilt - 17 degrees MPH - 16-17 RPM - 400

I LOVE CODE BALLS., especially the Code Black. My only gripe with the Code Black was that it was too clean sometimes. The Dark Code solves that problem with the new REX cover. The Dark Code reads the oil more than the Code Black and still backends plenty. It's what I wanted the Code X to be but wasn't, a touch earlier and smoother to use when there wasn't quite as much friction. I have a pin down and pin up version of the Dark Code and both are pretty sick. I shot 300 with my pin down Dark Code the 2nd week I had it and I love throwing my pin up Dark Code late in a block. It seems like it's too early to work later in a block, but it never quits hooking! TO SUM UP, if you loved the Code Black, get a Dark Code! Drill it like your favorite Code Black and you'll love it!

70 x 3 1/2 x 25 same layout as my beloved Code Black! Axis point is 4 7/16 over and 3/8 up. Revrate in the upper 300s, ball speed between 15 and 16 mph. I typically like to start at 15 on a typical house shot and migrate in from there. Initial reaction...the scent on this ball is magnificent! It will make your bag smell so good! Not only this but the black pearl color is just so easy on the eyes. Admittedly, I am a sucker for a dark colored bowling ball so I will probably have a couple of this one! On to the review: Much like the Code Black, I found this ball to be easily manipulated as far as how it reads the end of the pattern you are using it on. For the typical house shot, it actually reads the "cliff" that tends to happen beautifully! It floats through the front, transitions into the roll phase and then continues with a nice strong backend movement. With my ball roll, I tend to get that sticky 10 when the pattern starts to transition but I was able to use this ball all 3 games of a 5 man team league session with no problems! I cannot remember the last time I was able to do that with positive results. I found this ball to be slightly stronger overall than the Rubicon UC2, even with a weaker layout. Drill one of these up today. You will not regret it.

If you had a Code Black you will see a similar roll just more of it. My customers who have rolled both report the Dark Code is an upgrade on the original. The Dark Code provides a large amount of hook for a polished ball. I feel what helps this is the mixture of the R2S additive in the pearl cover. Some people are Leary to roll polished balls when the lanes are oily but the new polished balls I'm seeing from Storm are very strong. I have used this ball a lot at two houses toward the end of our summer leagues with great success. I would put it above my Axiom Pearl in total hook. It is as strong as my Parallax Effect but I prefer the shape the dark code gives me. If you are looking for a strong Pearl or a Code Black upgrade this should fit the bill! Summary: The Dark Code is an upgrade on the original Code Black. The Dark Code rolls well on a variety of patterns and hits hard. This ball has a lot of motion for a polished ball.
