This is probably my favorite ball in Roto Grip's line just behind the Mystic. One week after I got my first Saga drilled I shot 300 in my league and the next game I had the front 7. I ended up shooting 785 that night only because I lost my look in the 3rd game, but it's still a very reasonable set. Unlike the Horizon I've been able to successfully throw my Saga in tournament play and on some of the more difficult sport and PBA patterns. I liked this ball so much I got a second one drilled out about a year later with a different layout and I've been very successful with that Saga as well. I don't throw this ball quite as much as I used to since I've gotten the Mystic, but it is still one of the best balls in my arsenol that I would recommend for anyone looking to improve their game. -------------------- Mike Keily - Roto Grip Amateur Staff ROTO GRIP - King Of Them All!

My wife bought me this ball for my birthday. I used it a couple of times and didn't really like the reaction - a bit over/under. Consequently I used it only twice in the first 5 months I had it. One league night I decided to give my Odyssey a rest and take out the Saga. To temper the over/under I put it on the ball ball spinner with a worn out 2000 abralon pad. The net result was about like using a new 4000 abralon pad. Just dulling the factory shine a tad - took this ball from zero to hero. No more over/under - the ball reads the lanes very well. Until I got my new Cell - the Saga was the best ball I've ever thrown. Eventhough the Odyssey and Quest are excellent balls, mine don't read the lane quite as well as the Saga. If you have one and you're not getting the reaction that you like, even though it's factory polished don't be affraid to touch it up with an abralon pad. I worked great for me.

This ball is great. I was not really a fan of Roto Grip products before getting this ball. I think I may have to check out some of their other balls. I will definitely keep this ball. It is a great ball and as I said, the carry was unbelievable. I would reccomend this ball to anyone looking to increase carry percentage without sacrificing control. I alos acquired the Epic Battle from the same friend. It is drilled identical to the Saga and in factory condition. If it carries anything near as well. I think I have a formidable 1-2 punch. And considering the lighter weight, can bowl all day and never tire.

I took off the polish of it because I did not want it to get it to go too long and snappy. So I scotch bite it with the grey and got a sheen finish on it. I layed out the ball this way. (LEFTHANDED) P 0 0 cg 0 rg I drilled it this way so I get some length but not snappy , that is why took off the polish and gave it a sheen finish. I throw the ball 14-16 mph , depending on lane conditions. I am a tweener with med revs. I love the reaction of this ball. I can play anywhere between 2nd-4th arrow and out to 10-5 board depending how much hand and speed I want to put on the ball and recovers nicely down lane with power. Two things I like about this ball , how it recovers with not a voilent snappy backend, I think has to do with the finish and hybrid coverstock (pearl & solid), The other thing it doesn't hardly leave corners .I think I might get another Saga or the new Epic Odyssey.

this is my first Roto-Grip ball, I was looking to get a Battle but the saga was brand new so I decided to get it, i have it with label drill, 3 inch pin with the pin above the ring finger and cg rite below the bridge no weight hole, what can i say, on medium fresh shot this ball is the most awesome and smooth ball that has ever been in my hands, I love it, its simply amazing I play btw the second and third arrow depending on the oil, this balls rolls smooth and breaks hard, and when it does the pins don't stand a chance, with good lift it rolls quick and smashes, and it looks awesome as well scores don't make the bowler but this ball has deff made me become a better bowler, not because of how awesome it is, and I know this sounds crazy but it has made me respect our sport alot more about a month after i got it I shot my first 750, a 756 with 227 262 and 267 games, and my average has improved about 5 pins consistantly doesn't hook alot but with the maximus core, this ball is

The EPICtm adventure continues with the introduction of the SAGAtm. Defeating much of the known lane conditions at an early time, the Epic Sagatm is a personal Journey of Conquest and Victory. The Sagatm seeks its rightful rule as it fights to overthrow the competition and reign over all its enemies. The SAGAtm is our latest release in the storied EPIC line of High Performance Asymmetrical bowling balls, the synergy of asymmetry along with hybrid coverstock technology delivers the sharpest backend reaction of any High Performance bowling ball on the market today. The Maximus IItm core has proven to be one of the strongest, fastest spinning cores ever developed. Since its original inception in the Epictm and modified version in the Epic Battletm it has proven to be a winner by taking home a Megabucks Title in February 2006 along with several titles around the world. The final touch is the newly developed Ultimate Vision Hybridtm coverstock; the combination of 1 part solid and 2

this is one of rotogrips most visual looking bowling balls I have two of these sagas I have at 4 1/2 from PAP in a strong position and the other at 3 3/8 from PAP in the same position I use them on the regionals to burn up pretty quickly and then roll out thus far I get a better reaction when there is less backend and the heads are fried I scored crappy on our easier pattern #1 but almost made the cut on the RPI shot and thus avg. 200 on the U.S. open pattern on league shot this core is very strong as with the cover I recommend weaker layouts for this ball to conserve its' energy

Overall, this would be a great ball for all - around conditions. It is quite versatile although not perfect for the extremes it could handle them well. It is a very hard hitting ball much like most of the Roto line. It really shines on the medium patterns for me including some regional PBA patterns I've used it on. It will get through the fronts well until they are 'totally' burnt out and with a minor adjustment off a weak hit you can get a good strong pop again. The only time I was surprised was on the flooded middles on the house pattern. It just wasn't strong enough to cut through that kind of soup and still turn a corner.

It has taken me some time to review this ball because since this ball's release my game has gone through some serious changes. First off, I have mine drilled with the pin under the ring finger with the cg toward the track at about 4:30 from the pin. Have a weight hole on the NAP to bring it to 0 side weight. The first time using this ball I was able to cover the entire lane on fresh oil conditions without seeing any over reaction. Same the same midlane read as the Epic Battle just without the tendency to roll too early. Used the ball for the first time last night during a practice session. On a pretty burnt house shot I was able to fade it out to about five. Watched it read the midlane, change direction, and hold line to the pocket. I have sold a couple of them to customers who have had problems with their Battle rolling too early. After using the Saga for about a week they are loving life right now. They have told me that once the Battle starts rolling early, they go right to the Saga

The pin on this carry monster is 4" from the PAP and the MB is 5" from the PAP on the positive side of the thumb. So this put the pin fairly low in relation to the fingers and outside of the grip line. This ball is a truck when it has enough head oil to get down the lane. This ball really highlights the strength of the Maximus 2 core since the cover stock is fairly tame as compared to the Battle with the same core. When the ball hits the pins it makes a loud crack that I've only heard from Lane Master and Legends balls that is characteristic of their hard-hitting nature. It's a real treat to see and experience the pin -carry that this ball seems to have. Since the cover is a Pearl/Solid blend it will not have the length of a true pearlized ball. This, along with the strength of the core, gets the ball flaring to the PSA very fast once it gets to friction on the lane. If that friction is in the heads this ball will get lazy when getting to the pins. On an extreme inside angle

Ball specs – 15 lbs 4 oz, 3.4 oz top weight, 3.5 inch pin. The Epic Saga was drilled with a 4 3/4” pin to PAP length and the mass bias in the strong position. This put the pin above the ring finger about one inch and the mass bias 1 inch right of the thumb. A small balance hole on the VAL and below the PAP was needed to bring it back to specs. The cover was left in OOB condition. The Saga provided easy length, read the late mids good and showed a somewhat angular backend reaction with continuation through the pins. The Saga displayed great hit and great pin carry. It also showed good recovery on errant shots that missed wide. The Saga’s backend reaction became more angular with a hand position change that created a higher degree of axis rotation. In the Epic lineup, the Saga provides the most length, the strongest backend reaction and will handle less oil. However, the Saga is not a dry condition ball and is better suited to medium / medium heavy conditions. John

Anyone who liked the Epic and Epic Battle will love the Epic Saga. The hybrid coverstock combined with the Maximus core give this ball all around use on any type of lane condition and surface. Drill it strong for medium oil and weaker for med/light. I drilled mine with a 4 1/2" pin, MB strong. On PBA Sr regional patterns (40') and (36') this ball could be played anywhere on the lane and not lose hit. If you're looking to add a ball to your bag this is one versatile ball. If you are stepping up to a higher performace ball, the Saga is very controllable.

Just when I thought I couldn’t pry the Silver Streak SE out of my hand. Along comes the Saga. This will be the new benchmark ball and likely candidate for ball of the year. Great read and reaction with a lot of versatility. I drilled mine strong 3 ½ from PAP to control tough lanes conditions. Pins move well off the ball, great hitting power. With a weaker drilling and the pin further out this will be a monster on house conditions. The 2 parts pearl reactive to 1 part solid gives a great look on the lanes and incredible entry angle.<scr
