Roto Grip Hyped Solid Bowling Ball

Following the footsteps of the versions before it, the HYPED SOLID is here to compliment the HP2 Line of balls. Its VTC™ (Versatile Traction Control) Solid coverstock will provide earlier traction on the lane than previous versions making it ideal for just a little more oil, or, making it the perfect ball when the friction down lane seems unmanageable and you need more overall control. This ball definitely takes VERSATILITY to the MAX! So if you weren’t already excited, now is the time you should get HYPED! HYPED CORE From the beginning, the end goal for the Hyped™ Core was to create a core design that would provide us more overall ball motion than the Hustle™ Core found in the HP1 Line, while also creating a viable step down option (less performance) than the motions found from our HP3 Line of balls. In the end, our R&D Team hit it out of the park with creating a core shape that provides medium flare and the ideal ball motion for the HP2 Line of balls moving forward.

The Hyped Solid is just about the most perfect definition of "benchmark" that I can think of for a league night, or even a tournament setting, excluding very short or very long oil. I drilled mine with a 5 x 80 layout and it is by far the smoothest ball front to back in my bag. It's almost difficult to get in trouble with this type of ball reaction. I'm able to keep my angles straight, not give the ball away from the pocket too early, and make nice and easy moves as the night progresses. I average 475rpm, 16mph and have about 15 degrees of tilt. I took the surface down to 2000 and it blends the wet/dry conditions I see about as well as can be asked for! Hyped Solid is absolutely a winner you shouldn't sleep on!

Roto Grip Hyped Solid Coverstock: VTC Solid Reactive Finish: 3000 Grit Abralon Core: Hyped Core RG: 2.52, Diff: 0.036 (15 lbs) VLS Layout: 4 x 5 1/4 x 2 1/2 Dual Angle Layout: 70 x 4 x 40 PAP: 5 3/16" right x 5/8" up Rev rate: 400 rpm Average speed: 16.5 mph Location: Prairie Lanes, Sun Prairie WI Pattern: Medium volume THS The Roto Grip Hyped Solid is the newest ball in the HP2 line and follows the Hyped Hybrid and Pearl that were released last year. This line of balls hits the sweet spot as they provide more overall motion than the Hustles in the HP1 line, but slightly less motion than balls in the HP3 line like the Idols or Rubicons. The Hyped Solid features the Hyped core which has a higher RG (2.52) and a bit lower diff (0.036) which helps the ball get down the lane before getting into a roll. It also has the VTC (Versatile Traction Control) solid reactive cover which gives the ball a calm, consistent, and continuous roll. The Hyped Solid gives me a benchmark type reaction, though it's certainly not as strong as something like an Idol. It's a great ball to start league night with as it doesn't jump too hard off the dry, but the cover is strong enough to read on shots that miss a little in. It's a very versatile ball and is a perfect complement to my Hyped Pearl which is a little longer and a couple of boards weaker. The Hyped Solid is a great addition to bag, especially for those medium to dry THS patterns or if you're looking for that smooth benchmark-ball type of reaction. You won't want to overlook this one. "I was so excited to see them make a hyped solid because of how much i threw the hyped pearl and hybrid. I think this new hyped solid is going to be a staple in my bag and will probably be my first ball out. If you're looking for the most bang for you money, look no further than the hyped solid. I drilled my Hyped Solid up with a pin under layout of 4.5 x 4 x 5. I have only gotten to throw it in practice as this was a late add to the 25 other bowling balls I own. I left it box and compared it to the other two HYPED balls and an IQ Tour. Compared to the IQ Tour, the Hyped Solid is a little more down lane motion but definitely not as early reading and smooth. It was a lot earlier than both Hyped Pearl and Hybrids. It did give me the impression that is could be a good ball shined up to control early friction but when you need something that is too much backend.

Hyped solid fills a spot needed in almost every bag. High RG Low Diff with a strong cover makes this a perfect fit to ball down to when the reaction starts to go away with the high end equipment.

Love the Hyped Pearl and was super excited for the release of the solid and it didn't let me down. Layout 4x4x3. Featuring the Hyped core with the VTC cover this ball is super smooth. Great predictable motion down lane for me . This ball is going to be great on a house shot where I want to ball down and use closed angles. This ball is also coming with me to tourneys. This is a very versatile piece and for a great price. I recommend picking up 2 of these

Roto Grip Hyped Solid Ball Review by PJ Haggerty As lane beds wear down around the country, I'm seeing more bowlers have success with equipment that have higher RG and lower differential numbers. We are seeing more friction everywhere we go and a ball that makes a ton of sense is the Hyped Solid by Roto Grip. If you remember the Hustle line from Roto Grip, the Hyped balls have been designed to be stronger than the Hustle balls, and it's true. These also fit perfectly underneath the high performance balls to provide a nice compliment to them. I've drilled one so far and really like it. Because the RG is a little higher, I drilled it with a pin distance of 4.5" and drilling angle of 75. The ball feels like it reads the lane another zone after my Reality and Gem, but continues to run over the 8-pin as it goes through the pins. Also, I've seen the most success on lane beds that have more wear and provide higher friction. I feel like the Hyped Solid needs friction to be able to go through the pins the right way. Also, this ball takes surface really well. To make it read a little sooner, I've hit it with 1000 pad just to get it to read a little earlier. Overall, I'm impressed with the Hyped Solid. If you need a ball to compliment your high performance equipment, especially as lanes continue to age and provide more friction, the Hyped Solid should be the next ball you drill!

The Hyped Solid is a ball you are going to see a lot of tournament player gushing over! The new Hyped Solid has the Hyped core and the VTC solid cover. This combination offers a strong, smooth and extremely controllable shape. Think of Storm's IQ Tour solid but with a little more teeth to pick up the lane sooner. My layout is 4x5x1. Which allows me keep my angle closed easier on short and medium oil patterns. I cannot say enough good things about the Hyped Solid. I am actually going to stash 1 or 2 of these away for the USBC Open Championships next year because I can see this type of ball motion giving me the absolute look on those types of conditions.

The Hyped solid is a great value for an entry level solid. The Hyped solid will be good ball for bowlers needing to ball down during league as the lanes transition as well as, bowlers who want to play straighter. Hyped reads the mid lane well and has a smooth motion with a nice angular backend motion and good continuation through the pins. The hyped solid is a great addition to the line and will be good for all styles of bowlers.

How do I put this...HOUSE SHOT KILLER! The Hyped Solid is SICK! The Hyped Solid utilizes the same core as its pearl and hybrid predecessors. This thing reads, but doesn't over read, manages transition well, and hits like a truck. What this ball does at its price point is un-matched. I was a big fan of the Hyped pearl (still am) but it's not a ball that I can start the night with. The Hyped Solid, however I can! I really like using this in my trios league which makes me play a little closer to the friction for most of the night. Missing either way is not an issue. The ball still reads in the shim and it doesn't bounce too hard off of the dry. Don't let this one sneak past you! Layout is my typical pin up layout: 4x5x2 Other balls getting a lot of play: Dark Code-4x6x2 Night Road-4.5x4.5x3.75 Idol Cosmos-4x5x2 Wolverine Dark Moss-4.25x5.25x2

It has an "overall" ball motion type of feel; it doesn't overly do anything which helps with control on both the front and back ends. I compared it to the Storm !Q Tour to see just how much more overall it is and it definitely fits above. It has the same versatility gene and can be a fit into your arsenal just for that reason. Roto Grip Hyped Solid: VTC solid cover stock with the proven Hyped core. The layout is 60 x 5 ½ x 50 and the surface was adjusted to 4000ab. Currently using it in on a 46ft THS with older HPL lane panels that has a BIG cliff on the back of the pattern and not really blended well front to back and side to side. Super dry outside of 12 and super heavy conditioner between 16 to 16 across the boards. What I found was a little mundane performance for me, the overall reaction was longer and smoother than even urethane, which on this pattern is a good thing when its fresh, but once the heads start going away, the Hyped Solid loses a ton of backend motion because of the carry down and it cannot roll through it. I also practiced on SPL lane surface with a longer, but well blended pattern and it looked awesome in the first 3 to 4 games, then it lost its "look" after that. An awesome piece to start your night out, but in most cases I actually "balled down" to the Hustle USA to have a better reaction in the backend. This ball is super smooth and for bowlers that like to play "up the boards" this ball will be great for them. Thanks to team at Roto Grip and Mike Sinek for all the help and guidance.

The all new Hyped Solid is going to be an absolute home run! This ball will be good especially for players that are rev dominant, or those who want a weaker solid ball that will allow you to stay closer to the friction. The Hyped Solid features the VTC™ (Versatile Traction Control) coverstock wrapped around the Hyped Core which has been a stable in the HP2 line in the last couple of years. The Hyped Solid is the third addition to the Hyped line and I have no doubt it will be the best one yet. Go out and get yours today!

Hey everyone, I'm back with another ball review, and this time it's for the Roto Grip Hyped Solid and in 15 pounds this ball is wrapped in the VTC solid reactive cover stock and comes 3000-grit polished with an RG of 2.52 and a Diff of .036. Layout for this ball is 5 X 4 X 1½ There are not many balls that can cover a variety of conditions, especially at an entry level price point. To give a comparison the Roto Grip Hyped Pearl picks up a touch through the front of the lane compared to the Pearl. This two-ball release will be a nice transition when the "benchmark" balls are just too early. The Hybrid and Pearl will naturally be longer and stronger than something like a Hy-Road. Out here we have a couple of centers that are on the high friction lane surface, and this is when I see these balls shine...Some may even say I get Hyped! Say hello to an IQ Tour on steroids! Roto Grip is brining you the brand new Hyped Solid. Another great addition to the Hyped line with the original Hyped Core wrapped with the VTC Solid Reactive coverstock. This ball has been striking a lot everywhere I go. Kris Prather just shot back to back 300's a couple days ago with it, so you know it has to be good! A lot of people have been saying this is a beefed up IQ Tour and I really do see that. Very smooth, very continuous and it handles oil way better than an IQ Tour. Sometimes, my IQ Tour can be too clean and too angular and that is when I would pull this ball out to smooth out that motion on flatter patterns and more clifted house shots. I'm excited to throw this ball more on more patterns and see what this truly does on a wide variety of patterns. Get it while its hot at your local Storm VIP Pro Shop.

If you enjoyed the Hyped series the Hyped Solid is a must have. This solid provides nice traction and a smooth reaction for most medium conditions. For this particular review I had Rob Kohler test the Hyped Solid v. Hyped Hybrid (4K Fast) on a 42' ft house pattern. Right from the beginning the Hyped Solid allowed Rob to keep his angles in front of him. He had no issue feeling comfortable with the ball and more importantly he had great control off the spot. Rob also commented the Solid was easy to read downlane and repeatability was easy to achieve. In comparison, the Hyped Hybrid made Rob have to get slightly more left and a bit outside of his comfort zone. At times he missed the spot downlane and the ball did not quite recover. I noted for Rob that having a ball like the Hyped Solid can be a great asset in the arsenal. A ball that allows you to keep angles in front of you and control at the breakpoint. I wanted to thank Rob for testing the the two Hyped balls out for me. For the Hyped Solid I do recommend some Storm Reacta Skuff every three to six games to maintain the oob surface of this ball. The Hyped Solid is a nice addition for any arsenal and you'll likely find a spot in the bag for most medium to dry THS patterns. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite balls in the bag. Rob also gave two thumbs up for the Hyped Solid from Roto Grip! Michael Slatky 900 Global Staff Member York, PA

I really like the Hyped Pearl and Hyped Hybrid so I felt like this would be a good progression in the line of Hyped Balls. I would call this ball a work horse with just enough of everything including control. The Hyped Solid has bailed me out at times when I just was not getting a good look on the lanes. I can get to the pocket with good carry with this ball when nothing else seems to shape well on a poorly transitioned pattern. The Hyped Solid is a bit cleaner and angular than my Hustle USA and for me but pretty close in total hook. The Hyped Solid is definitely weaker than my RST-X3 but I can ball down from the X3 to this ball easily. The Hyped Solid isn't flashy but will get the job done at a good price. The Hyped Solid is forgiving and is a ball I have learned to trust. This ball has been selling very well at our shop. Summary: The Hyped Solid is a work horse. The price on this ball makes it a great value. The Hyped Solid rolls very good on tough conditions. The thirrd installment to the Hyped series is the Hyped solid. I was excited to try this ball after having great success with the pearl. The Hyped solid with the vtc coverstock is a nice compliment to the pearl. Allowing this ball to reead a lot faster and give you great shape off the spot. If you're looking to add to your mid performance line up this is a great choice.

Built on the proven Hyped Core found in the Hybrid and Pearl versions, the new Hyped Solid provides a well-rounded and versatile dimension that delivers impressive results for the THS bowler. So, let's take a closer look at what makes the Hyped Solid the right choice for your arsenal. The Hyped Core is the heartbeat of the Hyped Solid. And it is a workhorse from your release at the foul line to its impact at sixty feet. I was impressed with how the Hyped Core gave me a smooth, well-rounded motion down the lane. And for a low RG core, I loved how the Hyped Core retains a significant amount of energy that explodes as it strikes the pins. Further, I liked how the Hyped Core keeps rolling. For its size and shape, the Hyped Core has a strong continuation providing great pin carry that rivals many bigger and stronger cores. Roto Grip has done a great job with the Hyped Core, and I would expect it to become their next core staple! The VTC (Versatile traction Control) Solid coverstock brings great versatility to any weekly bowler. Whether early on fresh oil or burned-up conditions, I found the VTC Solid to bring consistency all night. I like on fresh oil how the VTC Solid reacts smoothly in the mid-lane and has a consistent amount of traction without being over-sensitive when it finds friction. And this type of blended response made the VTC Solid a great cover as the night went on. I enjoyed opening my angles and watching the VTC Solid blend the wet/dry conditions smoothly while maintaining brisk movement off the pattern. So, if you are a low rev/ higher speed player like me, you will find the VTC Solid an excellent choice for any typical night of league bowling. In conclusion, the Hyped Solid delivers another success to Hyped Line! And with the winning combination of Hyped Core and VTC Solid coverstock, the Hyped Solid will provide excellent results for any weekly league bowler. And for those seasoned bowlers needing a ball to fit in between your big core/big cover and your small core/pearl covers, the Hyped Solid will be a great fit. The Hyped solid features the VTC solid cover, hyped core, and comes at 3000 grit factory finish. It has a RG of 2.52 and a Diff of 0.036 in 15lbs. This ball is designed for medium oil and at the price point, it will be a great value for anyone. The Hyped will be a good ball for most house shots and later in the tournament blocks. The shape is smooth and round which gives you plenty of control but still has some traction. For me, this ball gives me a similar shape to my Infinite Physix but just weaker and this is what caught my eye when I saw it. After throwing the Hyped, this is exactly what I was wanting for a ball down when my Infinite becomes too much and I am wanting the same shape on the lanes. It also allows me to move right and control the lanes without the ball going crazy. Whether you are high rev, high speed, low speed, or low revs this ball will be a great ball for anyone. The Hyped Solid is my favorite of the three new Roto Grip releases. I polished mine to give it a little more length. The thing I like about this ball is the smoothness down lane. There is no snap from this ball, just a very controllable roll. In my arsenal, the Hyped Solid is going to fit in right between the Wolverine Dark Moss and Hustle Camo. You will see me throwing it on house shots, lighter volumes of oil, and later in blocks at tournaments. I put my favorite pin up layout on this ball, which is 5 1/4 inches from my PAP. If you want an even weaker reaction for drier shots, you can go pin down. You can't find a better deal at the price point the Hyped Solid is at! Although the hook potential is similar to that of the Hy-Road line, the Hyped series balls are smoother off the end of the pattern. Again utilizing the Hyped core, the new Hyped Solid features the VTC solid cover. VTC Solid per the company, "was formulated with durability and consistent performance in mind specifically for the HP1 and HP2 lines. This formula delivers outstanding performance while providing control and versatility without being overly aggressive." To put it simply this ball was designed as a gap filler between the outstanding HP1 line of Hustles and the Powerful HP3 balls. I tested the Hyped Solid on our high volume 43 ft house pattern. While the design intent was to avoid the cover being overly aggressive, I definitely saw a strong midlane move with my Hyped Solid. I did opt for a very strong layout, but compared to the Dare Devil balls which made up the HP2 line in previous years, the Hyped Solid is a noticeable upgrade in cover strength. I see the Hyped being very useful to control tricky patterns. Those very flat patterns that seem to be ever more popular for bigger tournaments can catch a big swath of bowlers in between the more forgiving way to play the patterns. I would very much have liked to have this ball for nationals this year my medium rev rate made me feel like i had too much hand to get the ball up the lane, but not enough to get steep through the front to try and create hold. I think the hyped solid will work well as an upgrade from urethane. Similar ball reaction but more power to make up for lack of rev-rate. This ball is also a great option for a first ball for someone wanting to learn to hook the ball. It won't over-react downlane but gives plenty of hook to help someone develop their release.

Designed for medium conditions the Hyped Solid is a good step up off the HP1 or step down off the HP3 balls. This ball is, also, good for those conditions where there is a lot of friction down lane and the bowler is looking for overall control. The Hyped solid boasts a higher RG so it will not rev as fast as some of the higher performing balls which is suitable when either the fronts seem to go or there is a lot of hook down lane.
