As usual they definitely exceed expectations in terms of hook in their price point. Just as the MVP line gave great value the Hyped continues that trend with a unique shape. The Hyped Pearl was a ball I hoped to drill a bit weaker and throw closer to the friction. I opted for a bigger pin buffer and weaker pin placement. The cover however still seemed to be a bit too dynamic off the friction. I felt like because of this i definitely had to play the hold rather than the hook as getting the ball right too soon caused it to really jump in spite of the layout I used. The Hyped Pearl is an excellent ball for bowlers who are looking for their first reactive ball and is very good on broken down house patterns where you need a ball to not be too aggressive overall but still give you some shape down-lane when you're fight a lot of carry-down.

Roto Grip Hyped Pearl Coverstock: 1500 grit Polished VTC™ Pearl Reactive Weight Block: Hyped™ Core (Symmetrical) This review will be a comparison/review for both the Roto Grip Hyped Hybrid and Roto Grip Hyped Pearl. First off, like I have said over and over again, it is hard to beat Roto Grip when it comes to this price point and value. The overall performance at the $119.99 price is hard to beat. Roto Grip Hyped Pearl This one landed in my bag instantly. A pearl stronger than my Hustles, less than my 900 Global Zen. Gets down lane easy enough but still gives me a controllable reaction. I still love my Hustles but this ball has taken a lot of the lane time that use to go to my RAP. If you like your Zen, this is a great step down. If you like your Hyroad Pearl (or similar) but need something a little smoother on the backend, check out the Hyped Pearl! Roto Grip Hyped Hybrid Step up from from my old Roto Grip Hustle HSB, one of my favorite light oil Hybrids ever. Strong enough to use on a medium oil house shot but easily adjusted to be useful on lighter patterns. I took the polish off mine and put it at 2000 grit to get a bigger gap between it and the Hyped Pearl. Even with the polish, the Hybrid was controllable and smooth.

The Hyped Pearl features a new Hyped Core and the VTC pearl reactive coverstock. This ball is the strongest ball I can remember in the HP2 line. This ball was designed to be a step up from the Hustle line and Roto Grip succeeded. This ball is an absolute steal at its price point when it comes to performance. The Hyped Pearl comes finished at 1500 grit factory polish and at 15 pounds it has a RG of 2.52 and a differential of .036. This ball is certainly a great option for drier house shots and later in the block at tournaments. This ball is a little sensitive to oil for me as I left me at box finish but when it sees the dry, this ball shows its strength. It has a very strong move at the breakpoint, not a skid/flip motion but not an arc either. Whatever you want to call the motion, the ball just keeps going through the pins. Just as it is a step up from the Hustle line, it is a good 5 to 7 boards weaker than a similarly drilled Rubicon UC2. But again, this ball is all performance at a very affordable price point.

The new low end ball in the RG HP2 line is the Hyped Pearl. I drilled mine 5 x 4 x 2.5 pin up. I was pleasantly surprised on the strength. With the pearl cover is was clean, but read midlane and was way stronger off the friction that I was expecting. The Hyped I figured it would be used for later blocks or 3rd game of league, but its just a little too much ball. I can actually use the the Hyped Pearl for more medium lane conditions. I have the Hyped Pearl above the 900 Global Burners and the RG Hustles. But below the IQ's or Idol Helios. I have heard from a lot of staffers they are putting some surface on the Hyped Pearl to help blend out the overall reaction. Great Addition to the RG Line! Roto Grip Hyped Pearl Layout: 50 x 4 3/4" x 40 The Hyped Pearl is your prototypical light-to-medium oil shiny ball...and I love it! Our house has been on the drier side recently, and this ball is perfect for it. It skids through the fronts easy and has a hard-arc backend reaction (not quite a flip) and is at home when the lanes dry out. It has just enough mid lane traction to make it predictable, but not too much to make it too strong for drier lanes. The Hyped Pearl has two easy comparisons – the Hyped Hybrid and the Storm Phaze 4. It is a similar shape overall to the Phaze 4, but is about 3 to 4 boards weaker. The Hyped Hybrid hooks 1 to 2 boards more overall than the Hyped Pearl, and is a good bit smoother overall as well.

This new hyped pearl is one of the best Hp2 balls to date. This line reminds me of the nomads from back in the day. If you're looking for a ball close to that nomad pearl this is the ball for you. If this ball goes a little too long for you, just hit it with an abralon pad. This is a perfect go to ball when the lane is breaking down and those bigger core and surface balls are too early. Don't sleep on this hyped pearl, get to your local pro shop and get this new piece, and you wont be disappointed.

The Hyped Pearl is an amazing late block or low volume, angular option. I usually like to use balls like pin down hyroad pearls, iq emeralds, or hustle camo's. All of those are fairly slow down lane. The Hyped pearl is the perfect angular option when these are in play! I kind of get Uproar vibes from the Hyped Pearl! The Hyped Hybrid for me is basically the same reaction but a little sooner and a little less angular. I would recommend the Hybrid version for lower ball speed players or for the higher rev players. I have not yet changed surfaces on the balls, so the reactions are right out of the box. Welcome the Roto Grip Hyped line! I've been looking forward to this one and believe me it didn't disappoint! In comparison to the Hyped Hybrid, the pearl is a step down with more push in the front and good recovery in the back. I wouldn't say that it is hockey stick motion off the back, but just below strong-motion off the back for more controlled motion when the Hyped Hybrid runs out of room on the left side forcing your angle to be too deep. I always hit my surface with a light 3000 so my pearls can read the midlane a bit sooner and did the same. I can see this in play on medium-light to dry lanes, again not skid-flippy which can be hard to control, but an option to open up the lanes without sacrificing control with quality aggression thru the pins. There will be lots of Hype over the Hyped line, so go pre-order one or hit up a Matchmaker and test one out if possible. For an HP2, you're gonna get tremendous value and a pin destroyer! Roto Grip Hyped Pearl - 65 x 5 x 50 - 1500 grit polished Ball test conditions: Practiced on 44ft THS on SPL and 46ft THS on older HPL The HP2 line just got HYPED UP!!! After drilling the Hyped Hybrid with a shorter pin, and wanted to see how the PEARL version would be with a longer P2P with similar angles of what I had on the HP2 balls I had in the past. The first thing I noticed was the direction change from skid to hook was a little shorter then I thought it would be, the movement in the mid part of the pattern / lane panels were a lot like my Hustle Wine with a 5 inch P2P. Moved in to the roll stage later then the Hustle Wine with a stronger angle into the pins. The SPL panels and 44ft THS caused the ball to labor a little more on the back end of the shots, and did not quite "get there" without getting outside of the track area or going deep into 4th arrow with closing down the angles in getting straighter. That was the BEST read I had with the Hyped Pearl. Still could miss a little in or out and the ball still roll great, held it own even through the breakdown. On HPL with 46ft THS, the ball was money anywhere I played on fresh and first part of the transition. The Hyped Pearl will be in that league bag for that center. Going with the Hyped Pearl, 5 inch P2P RST X*1, the RST*2, and Zen Master for that league.

2 new releases from Roto Grip on the lower end side have me really excited. Introducing the all new Hyped Hybrid and Hyped Pearl. Both Hypes have the same Hyped Core inside but one has the VTC Pearl reactive coverstock and one has the VTC Hybrid reactive coverstock. These 2 new pieces are a step up from the Hustle line. The Hyped Hybrid and Hyped Pearl are a real bang for your buck when it comes to performance. These bowling balls defiantly don't lack performance! The Hyped Pearl is very clean through the front part of the lane, retains a lot of energy, and has a sharp but smoother reaction on the back end. The Hyped Hybrid likes to see the lane a lot more throughout all parts of the lane over the Pearl. The Hyped Hybrid is earlier and a lot smoother on the back end compared to the pearl. They Hyped Pearl is better for second transition when you need something clean but controllable and the Hyped Hybrid would be the ball before the pearl if a player needs a weaker option but also something that'll still see the mid lane and give the player ultimate control. Hey everyone, I'm back with another ball review, and this time it's for the Roto Grip Hyped Pearl and in 15 pounds this ball is wrapped in the VTC Pearl Reactive Coverstock and comes 1500-grit polished with an RG of 2.52 and a Diff of .036. Layout for this ball is 4 X 3 1/4 X 4 There are not many balls that can cover a variety of conditions, especially at an entry level price point. To give a comparison the Roto Grip Hyped Hybrid is cleaner through the front of the lane compared to the Hybrid. This two-ball release will be a nice transition when the "benchmark" balls are just too early. The Hybrid and Pearl will naturally be longer and stronger than something like a Hy-Road. Out here we have a couple of centers that are on the high friction lane surface, and this is when I see these balls shine...Some may even say I get Hyped! I drilled my HYPED PEARL at 4 x 30. I have a HYPED HYBRID at 4.5 x 30 so I wanted something to see if I could use this as a step down that still had a good shape to it. The HYPED PEARL is a great addition to the Roto Grip HP 2 line. Good push and really nice shape down lane. Compared to the HYPED HYBRID, the HYPED PEARL was a 4/2 move back to the right. It was a great compliment as it got thru the early burn the HYBRID started seeing. I balled up to a RST-X2 to see how where this one compared to both balls. They both played off the RST-X2 pretty well and both were good ball down choices. The HYPED HYBRID shape was continuous with length and the HYPED PEARL was more push and a later move down lane.

Being a high-speed/low-rev player, Pearl covers usually tend to fit my game best late at night or in broken-down conditions. The Hyped Pearl is no exception! This VTC Pearl Cover performed nicely as the first shift transitioned and excelled during the second shift of league night bowling. I liked how this cover read the wet/dry conditions. Further, I liked how it allowed me the opportunity to play deep inside without worrying if my rev rate would get me to the headpin. For once, I could actually relax late-night. I could trust this ball to maintain a sweeping and arching motion and strike, even when I was out of my comfort zone on those late-night conditions. In conclusion, the Hyped Pearl is an excellent choice for low-rev/high-speed players on a late-night THS. The Hyped Pearl brings a welcoming look and motion to your game at a low to moderate price. Further, it has a warming Blue/Charcoal Cover that gives you a smooth, professional look going down the lane. Finally, it will be the perfect companion to the Hyped Hybrid or when your SP3 performance balls like Rubicon UC2 are simply too much to handle. Roto Grip Hyped Pearl Ball Review by PJ Haggerty The latest addition to the Roto Grip HP2 line is the Hyped Pearl. With an RG of 2.53 and differential of .032, the Hyped Pearl is a perfect addition to the line, especially for medium oil conditions. The masterminds in Utah decided to beef up the HP2 line with the lowest RG core ever made to give the bowler a great compliment to the HP3 line. I'm truly impressed with the Hyped Pearl and it has earned a spot in my bag for league and tournaments. I've drilled one Hyped Pearl so far and think it rolls great. I drilled it as 4.5 x 4 x 60. I wanted this to be a ball to go to after my Idol Helios starts to get tired but before I need to use a Hustle. The Hyped Pearl fills that gap perfectly. With that said, I think this ball is best used on those medium-lighter volume patterns. I also scratched the surface with a 3000 pad just to smooth off the response time some and make it a touch smoother. Be on the look out for a great performing ball at an attractive price point that you can use on multiple patterns! Go drill one!

I have really been a fan of the new Hustles and now I am totally blown away by these Hypes. I have already sold a few just by people watching them go down the lane. The Hyped Pearl reads the mid lane correctly and has a nice pop at the breakpoint. The ball hits hard and drives strong through the pins. The Hyped Pearl fits above my Hustle Pearl and under my RST-X2 in hook and motion. I can see this ball being used on multiple conditions and killing a house shot. I have rolled the Hyped Pearl at various centers and have not been disappointed at all. In fact it over performs. This ball has worked for my higher rev bowlers as well as slower speed bowlers and those in between. I am really excited about what I am seeing from the Hyped line. Both are clean but the Hybrid picks up MUCH earlier and is much slower on the back. But it's good slower. I'm glad they didn't do a solid because a lot if times a solid HP2 ball gets into a roll too quick but is too weak to hook. The Hyped Hybrid has the perfect blend of strength and backend. The Hyped Pearl is the perfect compliment. It's got the same core but it feels like a much different ball. I have it 4-5 feet clean and much more on the back which is to be expected from a pearl. You can honestly drill both and use the Hybrid on the fresh and the Pearl to finish off the night.

The Hyped Pearl is one of two in a new line for the HP2 category, and features the VTC Pearl cover also found on the Hustle Wine, and the new Hyped core coming in at a 2.52 RG and .036 differential. The core numbers are a very unique combination, differentials are very seldom seen in the upper .030s, and the overall reaction is strong, but not quite heavy rolling. It's also not very quick revving, which gives it a very methodical continuous reaction that's virtually on top of the IQ Emerald. It has a firm but not sharp move on the backend and plays well from multiple angles. The Hyped Pearl should be a perfect choice either to start a league set out with or as a step down later in the set or block at a tournament, and is a little longer and sharper than the Hybrid.

60 x 4 1/2 x 45 on the layout Axis point is 4 7/16 over and 3/8 up. Revrate in the upper 300s, ball speed between 15 and 16 mph. I typically like to start at 15 on a typical house shot and migrate in from there. Initial reaction...Roto has been doing a great job with color combos. The color of this ball pops off the shelf and looks very nice going down the lane! On to the review: I drilled this with the intention of being able to throw it on higher friction surfaces or to be able to play some straighter angles but this ball definitely has a lot more bang for the buck than anticipated. First couple of shots after getting warmed up, I threw in the same spot as my normal starting point, not expecting it to make it back and adjusting accordingly. The ball floated through the fronts with ease and to my surprise, made it back to the pocket and struck with a thunderous messenger! This ball gave me a reaction shape that I've seen previously with the Hustle RAP but more pop down lane! I would say that it covered 3-4 more total boards with similar length to my RAP. I tried some different hand positions and I think this ball performs at it's best (for me) with an up-the-back hand position to gain a more consistent read of the breakpoint. It is naturally very clean through the front, so I did not need to help it be more snappy. I would say that my intended use for this ball was right on the money and will find a spot in the tournament bag for those higher friction centers! If you are looking for something to get you a little extra added length and not sacrifice too much in the hook department, this ball will certainly do the trick. Go out and drill one today!

The Hyped Pearl. This ball deserves all the Hype. Wow ... Do not sleep on this ball this ball features the new hyped core covered with the VTC coverstock . This might be the cleanest ball i have ever thrown. Reaction smooth and predictable which you don't find in a pearl. Pearls tend to jump off the spot down lane where the Hyped pearl is slow and smooth. This a great ball for drier lane conditions where you play the dry controlled

Think Hectic 2.0. You'll find that the Hyped Pearl is much slower than its co-release, the Hyped Hybrid. For me, the Hyped Pearl allows me to stand in the dirt, relax my hand and just watch the ball walk to the pocket. It doesn't jump off the spot like other low end pearl balls which is nice because they tend to leave creative designs down the lane. This ball will be great for higher rev players who want to play closer to the friction and lower rev players who need something for when the lanes transition game 3. I drilled mine pin down and it rolls so good. In fact, I take two balls to league, the Hyped Pearl and a spareball. That is how much confidence I have in the useability of this ball.

My Hyped Pearl is drilled pin under my Ring Finger with the Cg Kicked and with this layout on this ball it allows me to keep my angles in front of me smooth out the lane but still have good continuation down lane due to the Pearl coverstock! I have had success so far with this ball playing straighter on House Shots to get away from the cliff but also when the lanes are hooking and need a step up from the Hustle Line but smoother than the Electrify Solid this is that ball!
