Roto Grip Exotic Gem Coverstock: MicroTrax Pearl Reactive Core: Defiant LRG Factory Finish: Reacta Gloss Layout: 5 x 5 x 2 Exotic is the right name for Roto Grip's new shiny hook monster. When I first heard fast revving asymmetrical core with the earliest and most aggressive pearl coverstock currently offered, I found it hard to imagine many situations where it would be useful in the bowling centers I frequent. I waited and watched a few others punch it up and I saw a motion that was very unique and useful. So, I drilled mine with a pin up 5 x 5 x 2 layout and we have a ball that picks up in all the right parts of the lane. As this ball is gliding through the heads, I always have confidence that it is going to slow down at the right spot and make a left turn. I definitely think it may be the strongest shiny pearl asymmetrical ball I have ever thrown. I find it a bit like the 900 Global Altered Reality but the Altered is just a bit cleaner and maybe a bit more round and less aggressive on the backend than the Exotic. The Exotic will definitely help those that need a strong ball but struggle with the big dull balls retaining energy through the pins. The Exotic Gem features the same Defiant LRG core that made the Gem the strongest ball on the market. To move that power into the back part of the lanes they wrapped it with the Pearl Microtrax cover. The combination of Pearl Additive and Nano technology gives this ball a pretty big footprint in the back of the lane. I tested the Exotic Gem on a fresh house pattern. The league pattern in my home center has high volume and is 43 feet long. This makes it one of the heaviest patterns i've bowled on when fresh. The reason for the copious amount of oil applied here is a lane surface with a lot of early friction. As a result the lane break down most nights is for the front of the lane to open up pretty quickly while the back ends can remain tight much longer, particularly if you're sharing the lane with anyone who throws equipment which pushes the oil down-lane. My first few shots with the Exotic gem in practice were a bit surprising as I expected it to be jumpy on the fresh pattern. Most shiny balls are really over/under as our pattern is not only long and high volume but also very cliffed. The Exotic gem was suprisingly controlled down-lane. I was able to stick with it the entire first game. It is still not the ball I would normally choose in that spot simply because of the length of the pattern, I prefer balls which are earlier on the fresh. The exotic Gem is definitely strong enough to use there though, and in a house with less oil out to start i could see it being a great first ball out of the bag. I really liked what I saw when I moved left with the transition. The exotic gem looked great for me when opening the angle up. It has been much rounder down-lane than I anticipated which smooths the over/under out when throwing it left to right. It still has the teeth to read the spot but using the excessive friction outside the controlled down-lane shape prevents leaving those ugly pin combinations on small misses that I sometimes see with the balls with are very quick off the friction. This ball works pretty well for rev challenged bowlers to play closer to the friction. It makes an exceptional transition piece off of the original Gem for the same reason. In short there's something of value to every style of bowler in having this ball in their bag.

Ball Specs: Roto Grip Exotic Gem Micro Trax Pearl Reactive Asymmetric Defiant LRG Core Finish Reacta Gloss Polished Layout 4x4 with 1.5 Pin Buffer Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5" Over 1/2 up Rev Rate 300. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: This ball may be the strongest polished pearl I have ever rolled. When you see an Asymmetric core and low RG you think early read and roll. For me and the ones I have drilled so far we are getting more length and backend than expected and the core seems to be helping in the mid lane without being too soon. This ball hooks a lot but does not quit. I can move deeper than I like and still carry even with my lower rev rate. I just get my hand a little more on the side of the ball and it is on point. I do prefer to ball down to my Fate after a game or two just because I have my preferred lines I like to play but in practice it is fun to get out of my comfort zone and watch this baby hook and hit. The Exotic Gem drives through the pins as hard as anything I have seen. I have an Original Gem at 3000 then polished with Reacta Gloss which is a bit stronger than the Exotic but the Exotic definitely has more angle at the back of the lane. This ball never seems to skid too far and reads the breakpoint easily due to the strong core and cover. I am really enjoying rolling this ball and the colors look great going down the lane or sitting on the rack. Summary: The Exotic Gem hooks a bunch and has great back end motion. The Balls colors are very nice and look great as it rolls. If you need a strong pearl, this is your ball. Roto Grip Exotic Gem Coverstock: Micro Trax Pearl Reactive Finish: Reacta Gloss Core: Defiant LRG Core RG: 2.47 Differential: 0.053 Int Diff: 0.016 Layout: 5 x 4 x 4 - 2LS Layout Extras: 2 1/8 Finger Depth, "X" - 4 1/2 D and 1 Inch Left Tester: PAP 6 1/2 R, 1 1/4 D Review: The Exotic Gem features the Micro Trax Pearl Reactive coverstock which makes the Exotic Gem distinctive in the Roto Grip and SPI line of bowling balls. The original Gem is noted as the earliest rolling ball in the current line, now in a pearl version. The pearl additive takes the big core in the Gem and gives the bowler extra length through the front part of the lane in the Exotic Gem. Anything you desire in a ball to create hook, more hook, oh and can you say "hook!". This one is for you. You should expect a continuous, strong reaction throughout the lane. The best part is the Exotic Gem will not quit and provide continuous lane motion at the back end of the pattern, yet provide great control. The Exotic Gem achieves some length down lane so the ball design does not "hook at your feet" which would occur with older generation of bowling balls. The Exotic Gem will work best on long, medium and higher volume patterns. If your desire is to stay left before and as the the lanes transition this ball will not disappoint. If you want the biggest pearl on the market today in your bag, this is the one! Don't hesitate to try out the Roto Grip Exotic Gem today. Michael Slatky 900 Global Staff Member York, PA

Ball Specs: Roto Grip Exotic Gem Coverstock: Reacta Gloss MicroTrax™ Pearl Reactive Weight Block: Defiant™ LRG Core (Asymmetrical) Color: Citrine/Apatite/Amethyst Review: The Exotic Gem truly speaks to its name. It is incredibly clean down the lane with very strong and continuous backend motion. The Defiant core paired with the MicroTrax pearl cover makes this ball probably the strongest pearl on the market in our opinion. Our style: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). It has been a while since we have seen such a strong and powerful 1-2 punch with the Gem and Exotic Gem. Although they are both very strong, the pair is very versatile on fresh. The Exotic Gem provides a step down or if you are seeing a slightly shorter pattern in which the solid Gem is a bit too strong or too early. The Exotic Gem is the newest high end pearl asym ball from Roto Grip. While the cover is exceptionally clean, this ball is on the slower side when it comes to friction response. This provides a really nice balance of length and control. This ball was very useable on the fresh with a slightly slower speed, and as the lanes opened up it was able to come back from larger angles and still continue through the pins. This ball is going to be great for rev-dominant players who typically have a tough time throwing asym pearl balls, and for those who have more rotation or tilt that find other pearl balls to be too sharp.

The Gem, designed for heavy oil, see's its transition counterpart; the Exotic Gem. Similar to the original; the Exotic Gem is designed for those heavier oil conditions. When the stronger solids, such as the Gem, begin to fade, neglecting carry through the pins, the Exotic Gem will be a great option to go to. The Exotic Gem picks up pretty quick in the mid lane and provides plenty of continuation through the pins. The ball features its strongest cover paired with the earliest hooking RG asymmetric ball in the Roto Grip lineup, which will provide plenty of ball when confronting those heavier conditions of oil. The Exotic Gem will be a ball I will be taking with me to league and tournaments and will fill the gap either on the fresh or as a transition when I get out of the stronger solids that no longer angle.

I tested this ball on a 42 feet typical house pattern. I was able to stand anywhere from 20 to 32 boards and rolling the Exotic Gem between the 5 and 10 boards with great carry. The Exotic Gem is the closest ball to the Altered Reality. My ball layout is 50x5x40. This ball is awesome. This ball will be in my bag for league and tournaments. This is a great ball for all levels of bowlers. Order one from your local pro shop today! My ball review videos are posted on YouTube channel Stanley Waite. Roto Grip's newest HP4 line ball is the Exotic Gem. It features the Micro-Trax pearl cover which has the Defiant LRG core and the new Reacta Gloss polish. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and after throwing this ball I was quite impressed. The Exotic Gem is just clean through the front part of the lane but because of the Defiant LRG core it is without a doubt the earliest and strongest pearl on the market today. Compared to the Gem which I had also drilled this way, the Exotic is a few feet cleaner down lane and create more backend shape. I feel like lower rev rate will fall in love with this super strong pearl and ones with higher rev rates will also get more use out of the Exotic Gem due to the fact of the Micro-Trax pearl cover.

We tested with the factory Reacta Gloss finish. I am going to change it to a 4000 grit over a 500 grit like on the Infinite Physix. The Exotic had some Altered Reality vibes to it. The all new exotic gem is the newest asymmetrical pearl that roto grip has made, and let me tell you this ball has some pop down lane. The exotic gem has Defiant LRG Core wrapped micro trax pearl cover finished with reacta gloss. This ball is everything you would need out of a big asymmetrical pearl being able to read the lane and still have enough down lane to drive through the pins. If you're looking for a great looking ball that you can throw all over the lane and strike, the exotic gem is the ball for you. Get to your local pro shop and get one of these, and you wont be disappointed.

The Exotic Gem is the latest release in Roto Grip's HP4 line, and it's a pearl version of the Gem. It has the same incredibly strong Defiant LRG core boasting a 2.47 RG, a .053 diff, and a .016 intermediate diff in 15 pounds, and while pearl and hybrid versions of balls in the HP3 and HP4 lines usually get the medium strength and responsive eTrax coverstock, the Exotic gets exotic by featuring the MicroTrax Pearl cover which is the first time it's been used on a ball stateside. This makes the Exotic one of the strongest pearl balls on the market, if not THE strongest, and the combination of traction, shape, and torque results in a ball you have to throw to believe. I used a 4 ¾ x 3 ½ x 3 ½ layout on it, threw it both with the out of box Reacta Gloss surface and took it to 3000 by hand. I'm left handed, 17mph speed, and 375 revs, and what I experienced was simply a cleaner and sharper version of the original Gem. That core creates an unmistakable reaction on the lanes, which is heavy rolling, strong, continuous, and relentless. The Exotic is a perfect step down from the original Gem, or with a little surface could be the strongest ball in your bag.

Roto Grip Exotic Gem Review The Roto Grip Exotic Gem features the MicroTrax Pearl Reactive cover, Defiant LRG core, and comes with the new reacta gloss finish. The Exotic Gem is a pearl version of the Gem in the HP4 line. This ball is going to be a step down from the big solid balls, like the Gem, once they are too much ball the lane. The Exotic Gem reads the lane early but with the pearl cover stock allows the balls to get down the lane much further than the Gem with plenty of pop and continuation. The Exotic Gem is close to the Altered Reality but is earlier and a bit more continuous. It is a ball where you can stand left and throw right without worrying if it is going to be able to get back to the pocket. The Exotic Gem is a great addition to the Gem line. Tobias Myers #RotoGrip

Ball Review Exotic Gem RG: 2.47 Dif: .053 PSA: 0.016 Cover: MicroTrax Pearl Cover Reacta Gloss Finish PAP 5 3/8 over 1 5/16 UP, Medium/Ball Speed Rev Rate 255-300 Layout: 4 x 4 x 2 The New Exotic Gem is here. This is the newest asymmetrical pearl in the Roto Grip lineup. The Exotic Gem is strong in the mid lane and early. Due to the pearl cover it's not as early as the original Gem but earlier than the other asymmetrical in the SPI family. It has a strong down lane motion with strong continuation through the pins. The Exotic Gem reminds me a lot of the Altered Reality in its motion. The Gem is a bit more rollie and angular on the backend. This will be a ball you can play straighter with and move in if you need to and know the ball is going to finish strong. I went pin down on this ball I will drill one pin up and see the difference. The Exotic Gem will be a good choice for those looking for a strong asymmetrically pearl that can fit most play styles. Good Luck and Good Scoring!

Layout: 4.5 x 3 x 2 (30 x 4.5 x 30) Surface: Reacta Gloss The new Exotic Gem brings back the Defiant LRG core with the Microtrax Pearl Coverstock. This combination brings the fastest revving and most aggressive pearl cover to date which makes this ball not only clean but strong in the midlane and backend. Compared to the original Gem, the Exotic is a few feet longer down the lane and gives much more backend angle. The strong MicroTrax Pearl coverstock makes the two balls are great 1-2 punch for not only league but for many different tournament conditions. With my higher ball speed and love for the Gem, I can really see myself using this ball a lot especially in PBA regionals and Sport Pattern Tournaments. I was able to test the Exotic Gem on a 42ftm higher oil volume Sport Pattern. I found the original Gem to be great on the fresh as expected. It was early rolling and smooth throughout the whole lane. When the Gem got a little too slow down lane, I was able to bring out Exotic Gem and continue striking from the same zone on the lane. For me, the Exotic Gem was two boards stronger down lane hook and just as strong in the midlane. It allowed me to still control the pattern while getting that angle down lane to keep going through the pins. Compared to the RST X2, the Exotic Gem was much earlier and overall stronger. I can see having both balls in the bags due to the difference in overall length. On the typical house pattern, you definitely need long oil or higher volume for the Exotic Gem to be most effective. If you tend to use balls like the Gem or RST X3, than the Exotic Gem can definitely make your bag. Speed dominant or lower rev rates will also like this ball quite a bit. Lower volumes and shorter oil should aim more towards the RST X2 if considering an Asymmetrical Pearl for your bag. Adam Chase Storm Staff

The MicroTrax pearl is an earlier and rounder pearl coverstock and allows you get more length compared to the solid and also more pop on the back end. Storm Roto Grip Exotic Gem by Casey Murphy
Orientation: Right Handed Rev Rate: 400 RPM Speed: 16-17 MPH PAP: 4 ½ over and ½ up Location: Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO Pattern: High Volume THS VLS Layout: Layout 1: 5 x 4 x 2 ½ (pin above bridge) Layout 2: 4 ½ x 4 x 4 1/8 (pin below bridge) The Exotic Gem is a new pearl Gem from Roto Grip. It features MicroTrax Pearl, which is pretty strong for being a pearl. This makes the Exotic Gem clean enough to use on some lighter volume patterns or some transition but it still has plenty of teeth to get around the corner. I was a fan of my Gem with some lane shine, so I was ready for a pearl Gem that would be even a little cleaner and more responsive.
