Hustle S-A-Y

Core Got different? Why yes we do. This brand spanking new Hustle Core was created to be different in order to create a different reaction in the HP1™ line. This fresh new shape is the lowest RG value we have ever offered in the HP1 line which means an earlier more stable motion. Cover What makes this version of hybrid cover unique is that it provides more overall length than the others which translates to more stored energy for the breakpoint. But don't worry, it still will give you plenty of control down lane thanks to the formulation. Condition The Hustle’s were created with one thought in mind, provide the most versatility and reaction we have ever offered in the HP1 line. Designed to combat those lighter/drier oil conditions this new line of balls will undoubtedly help your game and put your competitors on notice!

Roto Grip Hustle (S/A/Y) Ball Review by PJ Haggerty The newest addition to the Roto Grip HP1 line is the Hustle (S/A/Y). To make you aware, the SAY stands for Silver, Aqua, and Yellow. These were released in early summer this year and pack a nice punch! The Hustle SAY is in the HP1 line but could easily fit in the HP2 line from a performance standpoint. I'd encourage anyone just starting to get competitive in bowling to drill either a Hustle SAY or Hustle PRO as an entry level ball, or someone who is looking for a ball for drier lanes that needs something when there's a lot of friction. I've drilled one Hustle SAY so far and it's drilled as follows: 4 x 3 x 60 with a hole on my axis. I've also tweaked the surface a bit to take some of the shine off the coverstock. I used a 3000 pad with water to still keep that clean motion through the front of the lane, but wanted a little bit of teeth in the cover to make sure it reads the middle of the lane. By nature, this ball is supposed to be clean and angular, and it forces me to use it when I need to keep my angles in front of me or for extremely dry lanes. If you are looking for a ball for dry lanes or something to play direct with, the Hustle SAY is a great choice! Go drill one and #OwnIt!

I drilled up this Hustle expecting something quite different than I actually got. This ball is stronger than I had anticipated. When it comes to burn, and trying to get a ball through the heads, I use my Joy Ride, which is amazing. I was hoping to drill the Hustle SAY as a stronger version of the Joy Ride. Even with a similar layout, the Hustle is significantly earlier and smoother than the Joy Ride. I have used it on THS and it rolls quite well. I believe that it will match up quite well on medium length sport patterns and may end up using some surface to counter my longer pin to PAP. For the price point, this is a great release, and if price is a consideration, this ball won't break the bank and will be quite satisfying.

The Roto Grip Hustle SAY is one of Roto Grips newest HP1 releases. This ball is covered with a 1500 grit polished hybrid coverstock called Psyched. The cover wraps around the Hustle Core. The Pysched Coverstock is made up of 2 parts pearl and 1 part solid which gives the ball a little longer length and cleaner through the fronts. I drilled mine with a 70x3x45 layout. I wanted to make this ball go longer with a medium reaction off the breakpoint. My intention with this ball was to make usable for heavy breakdown for tournaments and for fresh shorter patterns like Cheetah. I like how this ball is really clean through the fronts with a strong yet controllable backend reaction. Even with the weaker layout for me the ball still has a good amount of hook and it doesn’t lose its hitting power when you move inside on the lanes. I recommend this ball for anyone looking for a good solid beginner ball who wants to learn how to hook the ball. The balls overall strength allows a bowler to grow with the ball. I also recommend it as a great ball for drier lanes that are either short patterns or broken down tournament shots.

So far I've drilled a bunch of these for newer bowlers and a few guys looking for control on short patterns. Everyone had positive feed back on the ball reaction. It's a little more than you expect, which is always nice to see. If you can find the dry boards on the lane this ball will hook from them. It's a good addition to a tourney arsenal and a fun first reactive for newer players. #ownit Personally, I have only used it on fresh so far, I'm slightly speed dominant , so weaker shelled options are not the best for me. That said, I was very impressed by the amount of movement I got. I always keep my symm. equipment basic as far as layouts go. Pins above and below my bridge/ring finger, it works out to a 5 inch pin in my bridge and a 4 1/2 inch pin over/under my ring. My Hustle was above my ring, it retained energy and hit well.

The Hustle SAY features the Psyched coverstock (2 parts pearl, 1 part solid), and is the longer and stronger of the two Hustles. I feel like both of these balls are much better once you touch up the cover, as strong as the cores are for this line of ball, the box surface seems to make them a little inconsistent on the backend. I'd recommend 1000 abralon, then lightly reapplying the polish. These balls represent a brand new shape to the light oil ball category, they offer the hard arc, control, and continuation of heavier oil balls, but for lighter conditions. The vast majority of light oil balls have weak cores, which can make them too sharp at the breakpoint, or too sensitive to carrydown. The 2.53 rg and .030 diff of the Hustle core gives you a heavier roll, which translates to greater control both on the lane and at the pocket, resulting in a wider pocket and better pin carry.

I drilled this ball mainly for the Cheetah Pattern. I wanted this ball to get down lane and react smoothly on the back end. I played up the 3 board and ball rolled down lane smoothly. When she reached the back end the ball didn't take off aggressively, she rolled smoothly into the pocket with awesome carry. When the lanes began to break down a simple move of 3 and 1 was nice. the ball still rolled smoothly and the carry was still awesome. I was able to average around 202 on freshly oiled lane and about 218 to 223 when the lanes broke down. The sister ball to this would be the Hustle PRO. Great ball to change to when the become super aggressive.

Bowler: Keven Williams Hand: Left Speed: 18.5mph Rev Rate: 450rpm Oil Pattern: Typical House Shot The Roto Grip Hustle SAY is bringing a new weapon to Roto Grips HP1 Line. The Hustle is a step up from the previous HP1 ball the Locos and hooks like no other low end ball on the market. The Hustle SAY gets into a great mid lane roll and continuous through the pins. Sometimes the lower end balls never seem to want to read the pattern but the Hustles have no problem with that! The Hustle SAY is a great ball for its price range.

The Roto Grip Hustle Say is the new addition to the HP1 line. The Hustles are the replacements of the Loco's. They are definitely stronger in the midlane than the locos. Hustle Say gave me a lot more defined motion. As the loco's sometimes created the over/under reaction. The Hustle Say will fit great in my arsenal for the later blocks and or 3rd game in league. These Hustles are going to be great balls for the low price point. Storm/RG Pro Shop Staff Right Hander Rev Rate - 400 Tilt - 17 Speed -16-17 PAP - 3 up 1 1/2

The one of the newest additions to the RotoGrip HP1 Line is the Hustle (S/A/Y). This Hustle (S/A/Y) has the Psyched Coverstock which is 2 parts pearl and 1 part solid Hybrid shell. The new Hustle core provides enough power to hustle through the pins!!! The layout that I used was pin over the bridge and the cg was slightly kicked out with no hole needed. Dual angle numbers are approximated at 70 X 5.5 X 45. My coordinates are 5 5/8 over and ¾ up for my PAP, Ball speed is medium, Rev Rate around 300 and I am right handed. The Hustle is eye catching on the shelf and on the lane! I had low expectations for the Hustle (S/A/Y). However, the Hustle (S/A/Y) blew those expectations right out the window! The Hustle (S/A/Y) reacts hard off the spot down lane but clears the fronts with ease. I have not drilled a Hustle (P/R/O) yet so I compared the Hustle (S/A/Y) to the Wrecker and the Hectic. Right off the bat I noticed that the Hustle generates more length than both of the HP 2 line Balls. So I am able to stand farther right and keep the Hustle (S/A/Y) in front of me more, which is a huge bonus for me on the dreaded House Pattern. As the pattern carried down and I had to move left the Wrecker which is stronger became the ball to switch to. With that being said the Hustle (S/A/Y) just did not give me as much room as the Wrecker did. The Hustle recovered better than the Hectic but could not get through the oil if I missed left. This was about 30 minutes into a practice session just throwing shiny balls and no surface bowling balls… There was significate wet / dry but the Hustle navigated it with ease because the angles were straighter. I also used the Hustle (S/A/Y) on some drier and flatter sport’s patterns and the Hustle did not disappoint! Generous length with a strong but predictable backend motion. The Hustle (S/A/Y) will allow you to move left and follow the breakdown / carry down as long as you are able to get the Hustle (S/A/Y) to the dry area. The Hustle has hustled its way into my bag… The HP1 line has become stronger with the additions of the Hustles!!! BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK! Storm / RotoGrip Pro Shop Staff VISE Staff

Orientation: Right Handed Rev Rate: 375 RPM Speed: 16-17 MPH PAP: 4 5/8 straight across Location: Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO Pattern: High Volume THS Layout: 35, 4 ¾, 70 with p2 hole The Hustle SAY is a reinvention of the HP1 line! The cover is beefed up versus the Locos. And the core is much more high performance than expected. For the price point this ball rolls great! It’s plenty early and catches a mid lane roll you wouldn’t believe. Sometimes other HP1 balls from Roto Grip just kept going for me. It seemed like they never hooked before they got to the end of the pattern. This isn’t the case with the Hustle. It picks up and it hooks. For the price, you’re not going to beat the Hustle SAY.

Roto Grip Hustle S/A/Y ball review: Layout: 50x4x70 Coverstock: Hybrid – 1 parts solid and 2 part pearl Core: the new HUSTLE core Finish: 1500 grit with polish Low to Mid flare potential Lane details: HPL with Flex machine 44ft Kegel pattern with Fire and Ice oil Results: Comparing to the Loco Pearl that was released last year, the Hustle goes a little shorter down the lane before any reaction occurs, but the entry is less angular then how the Loco Pearl entered the pocket for me. Unlike the Loco Pearl, if I did square up and went up the boards a little straighter, I got less over/under when playing the track area on the left side of the lanes, which is nice considering that are lanes surface is quite “gritty” and tends to read earlier the SPL and newer HPL. Great THS ball for the money if you need a little less length and hook then the Hy-wire, this would be a great ball to “ball down” to.
