Well my MOTIV Faithfuls, it's difficult to believe the day would come when we would have to bid adios to the piece that put MOTIV on the map. I'm sure like I, many of you felt empty when it was announced that the infamous #RedBall would no longer be available to us. The 'Fear' soon began to develop as I wonder what would happen now... Don't worry my friends! The fear that you have will cease to exist... at least for you anyway... The phenomenon that was the Primal Rage was something that could not be left fade away. And with that belief in mind, this phenomenon has a new name, but a familiar feel that we have grown to need in our arsenal. That name is the Primal Fear. What MOTIV has done is taken the proven and game-changing dual-density core in the Impulse V2 core and given it a facial. We find the Fear wrapped in the new Voracity Pearl Reactive cover stock, which gives us even more power and continuation than what was seen in the Primal Rage. This cover is easily the most aggressive and angular pearl I have ever thrown. The Primal Fear is absolutely insane in my opinion. This piece just generates angle but yet has a very surprisingly clean roll as it clears the front and mid-lane before it transitions into its roll. I rarely have difficult finding an area on the lane I can use the Fear and still have it face up the right way to carry with the type of angle and continuation it can generate. Just in the month of December alone, I was able to throw two 300s, an 824 and an 855 and if I had to guesstimate, ten high-270 games. The Primal Fear allows me to open up any pattern with confidence because the word 'quit' just does not exist in its dictionary. The only time an even consider putting the Fear away is when I start experiencing some unexpected carry down on the left that causes the Fear to labor at the break-point and loose of its continuation. The Impulse V2 Core has to be one of, if not, my favorite core in any line of bowling balls I have ever thrown. With the Primal Fear being the replacement to the Primal Rage, I thought it would be fitting to test the two together. My anticipation of the Primal Fear was for it to be just as aggressive, but still highly controllable, off of the breakpoint. The Primal Fear does not disappoint. I found my Primal Fear to be slightly earlier and a little more rounded off the breakpoint, but with even more continuation. Adding a little bit more surface to the Primal Fear, I was able to open up the lanes more. Fans, including myself, of the Primal Rage and Primal Rage Remix will not be disappointed with the Primal Fear. It seems like the perfect fit/combination of the two. A little earlier than the Primal Rage but cleaner through front part of the lane than the Primal Rage Remix, and also slightly more controllable than the Primal Rage and faster on the backend than the Primal Rage Remix. As much as I love the Impulse V2 Core for my style, this in a way is a benchmark piece within itself. Not only does it look great going down the lane, but it gets the job done too.

The Primal Fear is the newest pearl release from Motiv. I wanted to wait to review this ball. In the past I have not had a whole lot of success with the Impulse V2 core. When I decided to drill this ball I went to drill this ball to the strengths of the ball. I used a 50 X 4.75 X 40 drill with this. Putting the pin above the middle finger and the cg just to the right of the grip line. My hope was to have a ball that skipped through the front portion of the lane, not over read the middle and then make the corner. For the first time with the Impulse V2 core I have found a ball that didn't over read the motion down lane. It is my belief this cover/core combination is the best of all the Primal balls yet. What I found with the Original Red ball was to much down lane motion. The Remix seemed to roll of the spot not enough. The Fear seems to fit perfectly between these two. Basically it feels like combination of these two balls. The Fear allows me to start a little further left than the Remix did, needs less angle to the pocket than the Red ball. When the Fear sees the dry down lane the ball doesn't jump off the dry as hard as the Red ball and is a stronger motion than the Remix was. This ball has gone straight to the Tourney bag for me, When Stronger balls seem to be reading to much "Havoc, Trident, GT" the Fear is a good fit to jump too. If you are needing a strong pearl ball with hard motion down lane. This is the ball that will allow you to start with shallow angles through the front and chase the angles in. Rev Rate:500 Axis Tilt: 25 Axis Rotation: 45 Ball Speed:17 PAP Measurements: 4 1/8 Description: Primal Fear (noun): The 6th installment of the Primal series that features the proven Impulse™ V2 core and the newly created Voracity Pearl Reactive coverstock. The VPR is the most aggressive and most angular pearl cover ever used in the Primal line to date and also creates the most angular shape in the entire Primal series. The Primal Fear is oob comes at 5000 LSP. Layout: 40 x 5 x 40 Ball Reaction: The Primal Rage excelled in terms of backend presence, and the Primal Rage Remix excelled in terms of hook up front, The Primal Fear excels in terms of overall angularity. The Fear doesn't start up as early as the Remix but more so behaves like the Rage in terms of how well it clears the heads, the Fear however is more angular down lane than the Rage overall. I'm rather fond of the angular ball motion of the Primal Fear because as angular as the Fear is it does not snap upon existing the pattern per say like the Paranoia which is also angular, it provides what I call an angular roll and provides great continuation through the pins. Comparisons Primal Rage: The Primal Fear to me clears the heads as well as the Primal Rage did, granted that the Rage picked up a shade later to me they were similar in this way. The muscle of the Primal Rage was what it could do down lane which was providing a strong backend presence, this is not to say that the Fear does not do the same because it does and from and angular standpoint. The Fear also provides you with more hook up front than the Rage as well. In terms of med-heavy oil I give the nod to the Fear, it provided me with better traction in the oil overall than the Primal Rage. In terms of carry down because the cover on the Fear is bigger than the Rage I didn't have any trouble getting through the slush in later blocks and I could open my angles up more, with the Rage I would tend to square up in the oil and play more direct. Primal Remix: The Fear and the Remix work very well alongside each other and can both respectively handle copious amount of oil ranging from med-heavy to heavy, what separates the two in my eyes is the ball reaction overall. The Remix is rather roll heavy upfront and when it exits the pattern, not as clean as the Fear but I attribute that to the bigger hybrid cover of the Remix. The Fear is roll heavy in its own right just from an angular standpoint, it does indeed corner better than the Remix in my eyes. Summary If you were fond of the Primal Rage but wasn't fond of how well it handled heavier patterns you will find the Primal Fear to your liking as the Primal Fear is stronger in the midlane and can handle more oil than the Primal Rage, you will enjoy the angular roll motion and continuation. To those that have the Paranoia the Primal Fear is a great compliment to it, in cases where I needed to create more shape on heavier patterns the Primal Fear was the ball of choice. To me there is something special about a bowling ball that does as advertised and the Primal Fear doesn't disappoint. Do yourself a favor and allow yourself to be consumed by Fear. Your game will thank you for it. K.C. White II Motiv Staff WhyBowl Staff Mongoose Tape Staff

This ball is the newest introduction into the Primal line of MOTIV bowling balls. The MOTIV Primal Fear features the new Voracity Pearl Reactive coverstock combined with the proven Impulse V2 core. This is the strongest cover ever used in the Primal line. It's clean through the front of the lane and has the backends you will be oh so happy to see down lane. And most important, it has the continuation that has come to be expected from MOTIV bowling balls. It will be a great fit in your bag on medium to heavy oil. My Primal Fear is laid out with the pin high above the ring finger (just right of the brigde) and the cg under the ring finger just slightly kicked right and has no extra hole. If you liked the original Primal Rage, you'll love the Fear. If you didn't have a Primal Rage (first of all, get one if you still can), and give the Fear a try, you won't be sorry. This ball is going to get A LOT of play for me on medium to heavy oil. Craig Auerbach MOTIV Staff Member Florida

Review: The Primal Fear is the newest addition to the Primal series. With all the success that the Primal Page and Remix has brought to MOTIV fans, the Primal Fear is the best angular ball built for medium to heavy oil patterns that has come from MOTIV. The Primal Fear is brings the proven Impulse V2 dual density which provides strong skid flip backend motion and we put the new Voracity Pearl Reactive cover stock that delivers some of the best continuous motion through the pins. Put all this together and the Primal Fear is the most aggressive and angular of all primal lines and it will make pins fear you. INNER CORE Impulse V2 COVER STOCK Voracity Pearl Reactive FINISH 5000 Grit LSP Comments: What can I say about the Primal Fear is other than it is what is advertised. I thought nothing would come close to how good the Primal Rage was until i put holes into the Fear and boy not only was it just as good, the Primal Fear might be better. The Remix I felt there was something missing mainly with transition and as I move in, the Remix would lose some energy, but not the Fear. The Primal Fear gives me that extra in the back and I feel I can play the whole lane and not worry about corner pins. And to top it off, the very first game in league I shot 300. Only the second time I have ever done that so I know this ball is a winner and it will be a winner for you. Medium to high rev players will love this piece on fresh in league and on higher volume. Lower rev players will love the Primal Fear because the bowl will go long and angular through the pins that they can stay in their comfort zone longer and continue to score well. I recommend the Primal Fear for all types pf bowlers MOTIV Staff Player, John Robertson www.motivbowling.com

Motiv Primal Fear Motiv Bowling has introduced the New Primal Fear. I drilled my Primal Fear just like i drill all my symmetrical balls (65 x 4 1/2 x 35). I love this layout because it gives me plenty of flare without sacrificing down-lane hook for my style. For this release i went with a pin up layout. I have used this layout on a lot of previous balls like the Motiv Primal Rage and Motiv Primal Remix. The Primal Fear is the 6th generation Primal. It introduces the new Voracity Pearl Reactive Coverstock , which raps around the same dual density Impulse V2 Symmetric Core as used on the Primal Rage Remix, Primal Rage and Primal Scream. The box finish is a 5000 grit LSP (Laser Scan Polished). The Primal Fear has RG of 2.55 with 0.050 differential. The Primal Fear is stronger in the midlane and can handle more oil than the Primal Rage. Also the Primal Fear has a very continuous motion through the pins. The Motiv Paranoia and the Primal Rage to had similar ball motion, where as i didn't use my Primal Rage as much. The Paranoia and Primal Fear is a great compliment to each other, when my Paranoia can't create enough shape the Primal Fear will be your go to ball to handle more oil. If your looking for something that is clean through the midlane and continues through the pins, the Primal Fear is the ball for you. Jonathan Sellers Motiv Staffer

The newest member of the highly successful Primal line is here with Motiv's Primal Fear. The Fear has the proven Impulse V2 core with the dynamic dual-density design providing a strong skid-flip reaction with this ball. The new coverstock "Voracity" is another reason this ball has so much reaction because it is the most aggressive and most angular pearl ever used in the Primal line. If you liked the Primal Rage you will appreciate the ability of the Fear to combat higher viscosity oils and volume patterns. This set up in the ball allows me to increase my angles when I need to throw it away from the head pin and know the Fear will recover to hit the pocket with great continuation. This ball is a great addition to your line up for medium/heavy oil patterns and house shots with big over/under conditions. Get your today! Steve Haas Motiv Staff Member

Layout: 75 x 4 ½ x 40 With the continued success of the Primal line it's no wonder why Motiv's latest release follows this path: the Primal Fear. By wrapping the proven dual-density Impulse V2 core (2.55RG, .050Diff) within the brand new Voracity Pearl Reactive shell a reaction that is true to the 'flippy' nature of the line has been born. I laid mine out with my more benchmark-type angles so that I could play as many lines as possible and this ball has yet to disappoint. My first night with it out-of-box I went wire-to-wire never feeling as though I was in danger of losing the ball motion or pin action; I started crossing at 11 and finished crossing at 20. Even though the shell is on the stronger side it still reacts as a true pearl with its ability to easily clear the heads to retain energy for the backend. Once friction is found I see a strong, but not unpredictable, motion made with impressive continuation through to the pit. I have yet to see this ball snap in an uncontrolled manner nor have I felt as though I was in a phone booth with where I could play on the lane. While I can play on a fresh house condition with it I also see it as a great compliment to my Trident. When the latter starts to hook too soon, starting to bleed energy getting back to the pocket, I can immediately pick up the Fear and continue on that line and beyond. For how strong it is I am impressed by its quick clean-then-hook motion. Overall I would say this ball is true to form for the medium-heavy lane conditions with the ability to play further into lighter volumes than other equipment with similar overall hook. If you need bite through heavier condition without sacrificing a strong backend motion, make the pins scared seeing that Primal Fear come out! DESCRIPTION INNER CORE - Impulse V2™ COVERSTOCK - Voracity Pearl Reactive FINISH - 5000 Grit Laser Scan Polish RG RATING - 2.55 (15 lbs) RG DIFFERENTIAL - 0.50 (15 lbs) FLARE POTENTIAL - 5"+ REACTION The Primal Fear is designed for medium heavy oil and is long and angular. The new Voracity pearl cover combined with the Impulse V2 core give this ball length and continuation through the pins. I have found that it reads the lane quite well and responds favorable to surface changes. VIDEO https://youtu.be/SGoTW09wLs0 COMPARISONS In my video I compared the Primal Fear to the Primal Rage, Primal Rage Remix, Paranoia, and Forza GT. As you'll be able to see in the video, the Primal Fear has a reaction all onto itself. It fits squarely between the Remix and the Rage. The Remix has more overall hook potential while the Rage isn't as strong off the spot. The Forza GT is earlier and smoother than the Fear with less hook potential. The Paranoia shares a similar shape with the Fear but is easily 4-5 boards weaker than the Primal Fear. As with all of our releases, synergy plays an important role. With our current releases, I have found a lot of success going from my Trident to the Primal Fear. They work extremely well with one another when dealing with transition. As the lane continues to break down, I can go from the Primal Fear to the Paranoia without missing a beat. SUMMARY The Primal Rage had a good run with Motiv, but the times are a changing and it was time for an upgrade. The Primal Fear is more than a worthy successor, it improves on everything that made the Rage great. The Voractiy cover on the Fear provides length with less over/under than the Rage. As stated earlier, the cover responds very well to surface changes. Adding polish will allow you to play steep inside angles while still being able to get out the corner pins. By taking the cover down to 2000 sanded, you can play more shallow angles up the lane without worry of overreacting. I firmly believe the Primal Fear is able to excel on a multitude of different conditions with minimal surface changes. It's more versatile than any angular ball I've previously thrown. The Primal Fear is a ball than can work on a wide variety of conditions where the Primal Rage could not. The Fear can handle more oil and rolls stronger in the midlane as well as much more continuous than the Rage. This ball was a piece that was missing from my arsenal as the Trident may become too early and the primal rage was too clean. Compared to the Trident, the Fear rolls very similar but is cleaner through the front of the lane and about 3 boards weaker overall down lane.
