the super carbide bomb is lane#1's best ball for heavy oil. if you throw fast and with a lot of hand and crank then you are at a super advantage with this ball. it roars down the lane and decimates the rack with the power of a bomb. just thor one for yourself if you don't believe me. you'll get hooked and then you'll buy one or two or three... well you get the point it's a good ball . look at the videos at www.lane#1bowling.com and see for yourself. i shot 299 on the heaviest tournament pattern with this ball. i left a hard ringing ten pin.<scr

Overall, this is a fantastic ball! I recommend this to anyone who bowls on a shot that contains heavy oil. When this ball gets "jumpy," it's time to go to a less aggressive ball. When you learn how the ball moves and reacts, the high scores will come pouring in. The two "negatives" are that it is a little expensive (I paid $180), and Lane #1 discontinued this ball, so it's a bit of a hunt to track one down. If you find one, GET IT! Unlike a lot of reviews on this board, I waited a few weeks to post so I can give a true review. I hope this helps!

I received a Super Carbide Bomb recently as a gift, and I had it drilled agressive.. Being that I am a Hammerhead, I was skeptical of all the hype. Well after using it in the local city tournament on a heavy oil shot that had most everyone in the house coming in way light, I now know that the hype is for real. In the singles event, I started off with my Diesel Particle and was having to soften the shot to get it back to the pocket and ended up with a 192. Seeing that I had nothing to lose, I started out game two with the SCB and I was shocked at what it would do. Playing the exact same line, I was able to move in 1 board deeper and fire the SCB at my normal speed and it would just scream into the pocket, crushing pins in all directions for a 235 and a 234 to end the set with a 661 on a very difficult heavy oil shot. Needless to say, the SCB will always have a place in my arsenal now as a flooded heavy oil ball. TPK

really like the ball for what it was designed to do. Which is hook in oil. I expected that I could use it on most semi-oily conditions, well was I wrong. I drilled it up with the pin 3.5 out and below the fingers. Really powerful, Every condition my house center put down was just too weak. Finally able to use it on a very heavy oil sport shot. Which is very hard to find. Would not recommend this to a bowler who wants a ball that he/she can always use. So far been able to use it a wopping 6 times for the year that I've had it. Tournament players only!

When I first got this ball it really didn't do much. But I have changed my game a lot now so I thought about giving another go and sure enough this ball went out and came back harder than any other I have. once this ball made it's turn it is time for the real fun which happens to be the hit. This thing blows the pins off the deck. However this ball will slowly kill you because it hits so hard that if you are on the same pair a lot you start having DEAD PINS. Which kills your hit. If you are moving from pair to pair you will be in great shape.<s

This is a great heavy oil ball. When the lanes are flooded you can play this ball right up the 5 board and watch it make a left turn into the pocket. When the lanes start to break down you can swing this ball out and watch it make a left turn again and kill the pocket. On the right lane conditions this ball is very forgiving on high shots. This is the first Lane #1 ball I have tried and I will not hesitate to try anoter one. Dislikes: If you don't put this ball up when the lanes dry up you will leave so many splits you will think you are a Cheerleader.

4" Pin, 4.2oz Top Weight, I had this ball drilled "Label High Pin." Length: 8, Backend: 9...figured it wouldn't be as likely to roll out this way. I must say I love this ball with this drilling. I haven't had any issues with not getting enough length or having this ball roll out. The hit definitely hasn't been a problem. For the most part, I use this ball mainly in my Friday night league on the PBA shots and I've even used it in my other leagues at times. The length was always there as long as the oil was. If the shot breaks down at all, it was possible to just move left and play a little deeper and still find the pocket and carry well. The backend is incredible and the roll this ball has is very smooth and predictable. Just don't ever miss inside with this one and you're pretty much set. This ball allows me to open up the lane a hell of a lot more than I was able to before. While it may have been more on the expensive side, this ball was worth every penny. Lane 1 equipmen

If you own a small oil field, then this ball is for you. If not, take the 250 bucks and buy yourself something else. This ball out hooks anytthing I own. This ball definately needs a lot of oil, and something like your typical league shot isn't going to cut it. I actaully played this ball inside 4th arrow lofting the gutter, and still couldn't get to the pocket. There is no happy medium to this ball. Also, crankers need not purchase this ball, it's very hard to control in the backends. Maybe if I had it drilled a little less agressive it would have worked better, but this is just too much ball for any kind of house condition.

Need oil and correct drilling to get the desired results from this ball. This is a technical ball and requires a very technical driller. Only 2 other bowlers had a higher average than I did. Hats off to Lou at Cedar Creek in Marietta, Georgia. he drilled the ball very professionally without counter weight holes. I had ball drilled to get maximum flare and smooth arc. It explodes at the pins. I only left 2 ten pins all night. The ball really carries and handled the oil well. This is a technical ball and requires precise drilling to get the desired results that you are looking for. Make sure you choose a skillful and patient driller to get the most out of this ball. The flare is outstanding. I must say a a slow roller, I got about 6 inches on the flare in heavy flooded conditions.

I bought this ball for the occasional run in with the Oily lanes. The 1 time I found oil enough to pull this bad boy out of the bag, it was a monster. I have my drilled to Lane #1 Specs for Length 8 backend 9. It goes long, starts to roll, and when it gets to the drier back end, makes a move that reminds me of the Cherry bomb. When this ball hits the pocket, the pins dance and roll, even on light hits. Beware, heavy hits don't produce with this ball. It seems to be more speed sensitive than the Cherry bomb, but probably due to the flood on the lanes more than anything. IT DOES NOT hit like a marshmellow if used on the conditions it was ment for. Will hit like a piece of fluff if you attempt to show off the huge hook for the ladies on the drier lanes. Loses WAY to much energy early on the desert conditions.

I don't care what the hell this ball will do but for $250 dollars I might as well buy a custom ball. This thing talks it up and than blows on the lane. It burns up to quickly, has the hit of a marshmellow and lopes down the lane like a tricycle with a flat. This thing can only be used in heavy oil as it hooks even in that, but the worst part about this ball is it sucks up oil like a fat kid in a chocolate shop. It chips up after about 6 games and then it begins to suck. Unless you throw at over twenty miles per hour or have a very low rev rate, this ball is not for you.

This is the second Lane #1 ball that I have bought. I purchased this ball back in late January of this year. The lanes where I use this ball oil 40ft and buff down to 45ft with a lot of oil gutter to gutter. The lanes are synthetic with clean back ends. The ball is leverage drilled 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 from the axis with a weight hole to make it legal. After drilling, the balls ending weights are 3/8 oz of thumb weight and 7/8 oz side weight. Pretty agressive for this kind of a ball. I was concerned that this ball would jump to much on the dry back ends but that wasn't the case. It would bite the whole way through the oil with a good clean back end reaction to the pocket. I had been struggling on this pattern for the first half of the year with an average of only 201. Once I started to use this ball in late January, my average has jumped up to 207 at this house. At another house that has wood lanes with medium oil, I average 212 with a pearl carbide bomb but that is for a

Bowled my first 200+ game with this ball (230 in the first game of league play), on VERY oily synthetic lanes. With a nice, slow delivery off the first arrow, the Super Carbide Bomb hit that 1-3 pocket with almost boring predictability. And talk about hitting hard!!! After the Bomb picked up some oil (roughly 2 games), the breaking point became harder to predict. Probably wouldn't be a problem if I were a better bowler! If you like hook, this is the ball for you. The likes and dislikes say it all. I am a power bowler and this is the first bowling ball I have every owned which I can throw effortlessly (I'm a strong dude). I play an inside out shot, and this ball hit like a BOMB. Light shots especially carried well, which is good since I prefer to go in light. I threw the ball for three games on synthetic lanes, but I think I have found my ideal ball. I was using "THE MONEY" but it tracked out rather quickly. Before that, I used five D-73 Pearlized. I still love that ball, but it is no longer available. The SD-73 was great for me. It got my average close to 200 and it was the only ball I needed. Yes, I used it for the ten-pin with accuracy, and yes, I carried one ball to every house I went to. Now, it looks like I will have to carry a ten-pin ball, because there is no way in hell I can make the ten with the BOMB (maybe reverse hook, or lefty.) The SUPER CARBIDE BOMB. AWESOME

ANOTHER WINNER FROM LANE 1. THE LAST BALL THAT ROLLED THIS NICE FROM THEM WAS THE BLUE CARBIDE, UNFORTUNATELY THIS ONE LACKS THE VERSATILITY. IF YOU GET IT OUT TOO EARLY THIS BALL IS D.O.A. BUT KEEP IT IN THE OIL, STAND BACK AND WATCH IT STRIKE. THIS BALL REMINDS ME OF THE URETHANE REACTION. NICE AND EARLY ROLL AND JUST KEEPS ON TRUCKIN'. NO SKID/SNAP JUST ROLL/HIT. I LOVE IT BUT NOT A BALL FOR EVERYONE. IF YOU CAN'T GET DEEP AND WORK THE BALL SOME THEN THIS BALL IS NOT A GOOD CHOICE. WELL NOT DEEP REALLY, BUT IF YOUR SHOT IS UP TEN, UNLESS YOU BOWL ON AN ICE RINK, YOU WILL NEVER SEE THE TRUE POTENTIAL OF THIS BALL. STILL MINES A KEEPER.

As solely a heavy-oil ball, it's the best I've ever bowled with. While everyone else is trying to rev their sanded ball like crazy to have it hook on an oily lane, with this ball, just roll it, and it will work its own magic. If you want a big hook, amazing pin action, and a durable ball, then this is it. Since the hook angle is so large, the best thing to do is primarily play inside, but you can also get away with playing outside if you really crank up the speed. Another great thing about the ball is that you can miss your target (if you're a right-hander) to the right, but the ball will make up for it, as it will come back into the pocket for you.
