Hammer Black Widow Solid Bowling Ball

(203 reviews) Write a Review
The Hammer Black Widow has been designed to give the bowler more length and more angle at the breakpoint than any Hammer ball to date. The Black Widow features the Gas Mask core with added flip block and Hammer's new Violent Reactive coverstock to produce excellent length, strong backend and enhanced drilling versatility for a variety of bowling styles. The Engine: The Black Widow features the asymmetric Gas Mask core design with added flip block providing a High Mass Bias rating of .014. By desigining the core shape to be a High Mass Bias ball, the Black Widow will produce strong hook motion with aggressive backend. The Tiires: Hammer's Violent Reactive coverstock will give the bowler more length and stronger move on the backend. Combining the Gas Mask core shape with added flip block and the Violent Reactive coverstock produces a strong and aggressive movement at the breakpoint. Featuring the High Mass Bias Gas Mask core with flip block and Violent Reactive coverstock, the Black Widow goes long and attacks violently on the backend. There's no lane condition out there that's safe. 16# 15# 14# 13# 12# RG DIFF RG DIFF RG DIFF RG DIFF RG DIFF 2.51 .049 2.50 .060 2.49 .057 2.53 .055 2.60 .039 Mass Bias Rating High

The Black Widow bowling ball from hammer is a really good ball. Excellent carry on many different house shot and pro shots. It was hard for me tell what pattern it actually works the best on. I really didn't have an extremely good series and went and decided to post this, I just used it for a great while and decided that I knew enough to post a review. To everybody who didn't like this ball, its because you do not know how to bowl or you don't like it because everyone has one. I used Ebonite Powerhouse cleaner to keep it in shape and it has held up nicely. Although it takes oil in very easily, if you clean it, it won't die out as fast as say, a Brunswick. over all, the Black Widow is a great ball.

I am pretty much new to bowling.(Been bowling 3 months) I have a Big Time ball that i avrage 180 with. Since this ball i am averaging 160.It just doesent seem to hit that hard.My shot is pretty consistant but there just doesent seem to be a very big margin for error with this ball. And when i miss my mark I am leaving splits and wierd combo's. But when i do hit the pocket just right it is pretty impressive. I will give this ball more time and hopefully eithier i will adjust to the ball or it will adjust to me!!!! I give it seven pins ,Because i am not sure if my problem is user error or a bad ball....

this ball is by far my favorite of all of my balls. at first i did not like it because it is very hard to control on completely toasted lanes but after using it on some fresh oiled lanes, this ball showed me that no matter where i throw it, it will find the pocket. i could miss outside by 10 boards and it will find a way to get back into the pocket, i could miss inside by 10 boards and it will some how manage to hold itself at the pocket. Bottom line, this is an amazing ball and i cant wait to get my hands on the black widow pearl, harv and spare...

It worked great for a few games. It burnt out quick. I sanded it, polished it, resurfaced it and it still is horrible compared to my other non-Hammer equipment. The thing would make a good cannonball now. Remember you get what you pay for. Unless we're talking about Elite. I do not know about them. But the Storm, Roto, and LM/Legends products are by far superior to all of my Hammer equipment.. I'm glad I had the sense to switch brands. I could understand a little tuning here and there, but this thing is a wreck. I switched to LM/Legends and it was the best move I made. My score went up and the performance caused about 6 others to use their equipment.

This ball has a beautiful strong arcing motion towards the pocket, very controlled reaction, great carry. I stand about 27 and let it roll out to about 10-8 and it comes back strong every time. This is a great inside angle ball and i would recommend not using it on drier lane conditions since it reads the midlane very well. This ball will not give you that great skid snap reaction as other ball like the Storm Paradigm but then agian it wasn't designed to do that. You will get a nice consistand arcing motio. If you want great skid snap get the Black Widow Pearl!! Over all this is a great ball and i have no dislikes about yet.

great ball but u have to clean it every time and it gets so annoying and the dang thing dies after 100 - 150 games, other then that there r no dislikes the ball is great on almost every kind of lane condition it has a very hard reaction and thats a good thing so if your looking for a great long ball with a very nice back end this is it , iv shot a 299 with it with a 762 series the only problem is once u start leaveing tens either put it away or make a change very quick cause they will keep coming

its hard to give a just review. the ball doesnt react strong on the lanes i normally bowl at anymore, but it hooks super hard at other lanes. i know the lanes i bowl on are fast, but this ball does nothing and i see people with balls for dry lanes do better and we're all bowling on a fresh house pattern. I love this ball and really want it to do what its supposed it, but on the lanes i want it too. If i play a stroker line, and roll it down the 5 board (for a righty) it comes back ok, but when i play more inside the lane and push it out a bit more, it doesnt want to come back. sometimes it just doesnt even react at all. good luck to all that get it.

Anyone who doesnt like this ball must have drilled it wrong like (shiftforbrians). Any ball that wins ball of the year shouldnt be bashed for someone drilling it wrong or just not a good bowler. If you read shiftforbrians profile he has bowled 33 yrs and has a high series of 727. But anyways this ball is spectacular in every way it hits hard and takes to surface changes very well. I have 3 right now and they have 3 totally different motions on the lane. I cant wait for the pearl Im sure it will be just as good and I have heard from some people that seen testing on it that it might be better.<s

This ball was hyped so much and turned out to be garbage. I'm a medium rev, 2nd or 3rd arrow bowler and this thing was as tame as a kitten! It had a huge hooking arch, but no snap on the backend, and it was drilled for backend. I was so dissapointed with this thing, 119 bucks I could have bought 2 low end balls and dropped them on both of my feet and still enjoyed the game more than I did with this thing! Thank God I found a sucker to take it off my hands for free! I didn't have to pay him anything! Right now the Storm Shift gives me the reaction I've been looking for. The one the Black Widow was hyped to give!.......CRAP BALL! I've had 2 Hammers recently and they we're both bottom of the barrel crap! Toxic was the other waste! I gave them both away! Never again will I believe those lyin' overstated morons at Hammer/Ebonite. Update - OK folks, I seem to have spoke a little soon. I took the ball back(my buddy wasn't using it anyway) and polished the crap out of it...so much

One of the best all around balls I have ever owned. The best results I have had consistently, not many bad games or series when I use it. The biggest and most important factor for me is to make sure the ball is cleaned on a regular basis. Right out of the box, after it was drilled, no practice at all with it I started hitting big scores. My average jumped close to 10 pins from the time I got it til the end of the season. This ball allows me to play a variety of angles and lines, from down and in to swinging out to the 5 board

I use this ball highly polished. This gives it good length, and a very hard flip on the backend. The flip is sometimes too much for the usual fresh backends, so its not a ball I will pull out of my bag first. If the oil is heavier than normal, then this is the ball I will start with, though I probably wont be able to use it for all 3 games. I have tried dulling the ball somewhat, to tame out the backend reaction. This did create an earlier breakpoint, and allowed me to play a tighter inside line. While it does tame it down, it tends to lose its pin carry somewhat.

This ball is great, I use it all the time, especially when I am all alone. I suggest you buy this ball, and use it the way I use it. This is one of the greatest balls in the market. If you like to do what i do with the ball, you will not regret getting this ball that is for sure. It is one ugly ball, but you'll find out quickly why that isn't importat. It's just so great, I mean looking at the ball now turns me on, and makes me want to go bowling, if you know what i mean.
