Hammer Black Widow Solid Bowling Ball

(203 reviews) Write a Review
The Hammer Black Widow has been designed to give the bowler more length and more angle at the breakpoint than any Hammer ball to date. The Black Widow features the Gas Mask core with added flip block and Hammer's new Violent Reactive coverstock to produce excellent length, strong backend and enhanced drilling versatility for a variety of bowling styles. The Engine: The Black Widow features the asymmetric Gas Mask core design with added flip block providing a High Mass Bias rating of .014. By desigining the core shape to be a High Mass Bias ball, the Black Widow will produce strong hook motion with aggressive backend. The Tiires: Hammer's Violent Reactive coverstock will give the bowler more length and stronger move on the backend. Combining the Gas Mask core shape with added flip block and the Violent Reactive coverstock produces a strong and aggressive movement at the breakpoint. Featuring the High Mass Bias Gas Mask core with flip block and Violent Reactive coverstock, the Black Widow goes long and attacks violently on the backend. There's no lane condition out there that's safe. 16# 15# 14# 13# 12# RG DIFF RG DIFF RG DIFF RG DIFF RG DIFF 2.51 .049 2.50 .060 2.49 .057 2.53 .055 2.60 .039 Mass Bias Rating High

i'm not a pro bowler or a bowling ball expert. this ball moves a lot. the shinier the more it moves. if you watch how it snaps you can move how ever many boards to adjust. in very slick lanes it moves where other balls don't. this is from tournament experience. i watched other bowlers using this ball and that's what made me purchase it. i throw the ball at about medium speed and i don't try to hook the ball really. that's one of the brilliant aspects of the ball i love. it just hooks and i don't even try. i really feel it also depends on who drills your ball but, all in all i love this ball.<s

I have had this ball for well over a year. I just recently took a more whole hearted interest in bowling, and decided to try and bring back what was once a terrific ball. Story is that the BWS just flat stopped hooking hard. I had to take a ton of speed off the ball to get it to turn hard at the breakpoint. I purchased some good Powerhouse products, and abralon pads. I deep cleaned the ball ( i had always religiously wiped, cleaned and soaked it.), and sanded the ball down to 1000 abralon to remove some deeper scratches. Then I brought it up to 2000 abralon, with several coats of factory finish polish. The great overall hook, and deliberate breakpoint came back, and the ball was much longer than before. I'm still about 3-4 boards from where I am with my Black Widow Pearl, and have my heavy oil ball back in my bag again.

This is a good ball, not great, but definately not a bad ball. I think this is a good ball for someone to have in their arsenal if they are going a pure hammer line of balls in their bag, or if you want a more affordable ball that just cuts though the oil like a knife (provided you use your towel before every shot.) This ball got me way into bowling more than ever before, and for that I thank my Black Widow, but for me it was time to move on and move into something a little different, and that was my Ultra Zone. I'm only retiring this ball completely because I am going to an all Brunswick bag. If you are not one to go with all one Brand you may want to consider the Black Widow because once you learn it, it hit's like a Mack Truck. Just know you will have to put in the time to learn the ball. I leave all of my balls at their out of the box finish because I believe they were made that way for a reason. Once you change the cover, you change what the ball is intended to do, so make sure yo

The Black Widow was the first true aggressive ball I had brought, took a little while to understand the motion of the ball but once I figured out the motion and where to throw it. The Widow just seemed to find a line and hit like a freight train when it hit the pocket. If the ball came in light it would carry the 4 or 2 pins and if it when Brooklyn it would carry. If the ball came a little high flush I might leave a 4 pin or a stone 10 but other than that great ball shot 256 with on the U.S. Open Pattern

I would rate this ball an 8. When the lane conditions are fresh and more stable the Black Widow will react good. The ball can get very touchy and unforgiving. However, When you are playing in stable conditions this ball will definatly knock em dead and leave you with very good results. I would recommend this ball to people who know how to make good adjustments. On burnt up or dryer lanes the ball might not react very well for you. Once again I would rate the Hammer Black Widow an Eight out of Ten.ooo oooooo oo o ooooooo

Love the ball recommended for any bowler that wants to make their game better and is willing to adjust. It is a beast and will move. So be ready for the strongest greatest ball out here. I have thrown only 3 games with it since i got it and shot a 669 (214,197, 258) This ball is fabulous 10 out of 10. Personally I like the plain black look. It definity is different than anyother ball on the lane nowadays. THis ball is by far the best ball ive thrown. Out of the wrath high flush, ebonite prime time, wrath, total nv, big one, tornadoes, anything

I bought this one a year ago, and I do like it in the minimal use I've given it. I bowl two leagues, in two different centers, both early shift, and the lanes are your typical house patterns. I can score with this on the house shots, but it seems I really have to execute well. The forgiveness is not there if you're a tad slow on speed, the ball makes a major move, very angular on the backend. Not my first choice on house shots, tougher, flatter patterns, it's A-OK, like the USBCs or a PBA Regional.

i got the ball drilled about a year ago and it didnt move to much. at first i thought it ws me because i had just came off a power grove and i didnt hook to much. but when my hook started to develope, it still wouldnt move. i tried sanding it up but it still didnt work. when i moved from colorado to indiana i got i tchecked by another pro shop owner and he said it was i powerfull drill and he didnt know why it wasnt moving. so he plugged redrilled and resanded the ball to where he thought it should be. it moved maybe another 2 or 3 boards but still wast powerful like everyone say theres is. my ball may be a dud but i wont be buying another black widow solid.

If you can't hook a Black Widow, you need to take up golf because you wont slice or hook any shot. This ball is REALLY aggressive unless you don't mind feeling like you're throwing it into the next lane on a house shot. But If you bowl on a wet lane, this is the best ball ever for drying it up and settling into your benchmark ball and shot. I'm judging this ball from using my friend's, and even with a smaller span I couldn't keep this ball from turning Brooklyn almost every time. Makes my NVS look like a urethane ball.

I usually buy a new ball or two every year. I had heard so much about this Black Widow, BEST BACKEND REACTION EVER, HOOK MONSTER, YOU WON'T EVEN NEED ANOTHER BALL IN YOUR BAG...BLAH BLAH BLAH. The bottom line is, this ball does not live up to its hype. Does not go as long as advertised, and definitley does not hook as much as advertised. Skids endlessly in oil...the only shot that this ball is useful on is a broken down/burnt lane. I'm actually so disapointed that I'm probably never going to use Hammer equipment again. Don't believe the hype!

ok, i guess the easiest thing to say about the ball, is that its good for most lane conditions. not really for heavy oil. but if you are a slow to medium speed bowler then it can handle about any condition out there. another problem with the ball is if its just a little bit shallow in the pocket then you can expect a lot of wierd and difficult splits. umm, what else can i say to get a minimum of 100 words, it doesn't smell good like the paradigm but it hits better. if there are any questions or anything you need to know about this ball of anyother ball i've probably thrown it and i could tell you and compare and contrast for you.

Amazing ball, have thrown many big scores with it, recently posted 834. ball hit pins harder than any ball i have ever thrown. very versitile ball can play all over the alley, down and in, way deep, just an amazing overall ball. Havent extracted any oil from it but it still hits great, what would be the best way to get the oil out of it? might just buy another one and have a different layout put on it. i clean it with spray cleaner before every use but i see these review of balls just dying on them...this ball still has alot of life in it with over 150 games on it
