Picked up this ball used and had a stacked layout that I liked to use and moved the thumb slug a 1/4 inch shorter to fit my span. The ball rolls well and clean through even the driest heads. It hard to get it to rev early but it revs nicely down the lane to get a decent backend reaction. The problem with this ball is that you could have the front eight or nine and throw the exact same ball you had thrown the whole game -- and the ball just doesn't clear and you leave solid eight or nine pin. Frustrating! Overall not a horrible ball but use sparingly otherwise it will find the parking lot.

I have been very pleased with this ball, and was surprised at how nice looking it was when I got it...The pictures online are very deceiving, the actual ball almost looks like wood, it is much darker than pictured here, and is very elegant. I have bowled well with this ball, but havent seen more strikes like i thought i would...I am getting about 5 a game on average, but I have had 9 a couple of times. I have had this ball for a week and put 36 games on it with a 190 avg. The ball has however increased my average by 15 pins, simply because of the great pin action tipically leaving me with single pin spares.

This ball has no problem getting down the lane and scores very well on a fresh condition with medium to heavy oil. However, put this ball away if you start to get much carry down. It will react unpredictably in this situation and leave lots of corner pins. Also this ball doesn't hook quite as much as I had hoped. Don't be afraid to drill this ball with an aggressive layout. I initially had this ball drilled with the pin between the middle and ring fingers, and I could barely get this ball to flip over. I then had it re-drilled with a much more aggressive layout and the results were much better. However even with this aggressive layout my label drilled V2 Strong still out hooks it by 4-5 boards.

I am a fairly high average bowler but I don't really know that much about the equipment had how it works. I am left handed and I like to play 8 board to 5 board, I don't like to play inside. If you want to play staight up and in or a little flare this ball would be a good choice. All my balls (for the house shot) are drill to go long and this was a good choice to replace my Ebonite Sparkle (another good Ball). The ball seems to have a good life expectancy, I have used it over 100 games, I wash it regularly and continue to have success with it. On an average day it carries better than my X Factor, I alternate between these 2 balls depending on the conditions. I have discovered over the last few years that sometimes less can be more when it comes to average. A less reactive ball that provide more control rather than a ball that over reacts can be the ticket. Judge a ball by its carrying power rather how much it will hook. Both the Killer Instinct Pearl and The Predator Sparkle ar

Do not buy this ball it sucks. It had way to much over/under for my style. I had the ball for a week and then sold it to buy the V2 Clean. Now thats a good ball. I heard the ball is good for playing straight down the lane but for a cranker like me it sucks. I recommend the V2 Clean it is a great ball really smooth through the head and really exploads in the back end. It is the ball i was looking for in the Killer Instinct. The only half way desent thought on the pearl is that is got throguth the heads but in the back end it was a guessing game on whether it would hook or not and most of the time it was a disapointment.

Hooks about the same amount as my Monster ScreamR, but different. Better on wood lanes for me, slides more on synthetics seems like. Great ball for high rev players, because it spins up early and saves most of it's energy for late down the lane. This can be a problem if you're not ready for it, because it does hook a fair amount. I didn't think it did at first, but I dropped to a 14 pound for this one and I was getting so much speed, I was overpowering the lane on an oily synthetic house condition. When I started using it on drier wood lanes is when it really shined. It has a nice hooking motion and I've moved it into my A bag. Also had success with it for the loft shot when the heads were scorched. I just tossed it over the heads and got a great reaction down the lane. Some good games, but not perfect, yet.

When the lanes are clean, 99.9% of mistakes in my game are my fault. However, this ball just hates carrydown. Shot 709 at state tournament, averaged 210+ at Junior Amateur tour tournaments, so this ball is awesome for medium oil or heavy & short oil. Long oil, your prob going to need to pull out somethin little more aggressive. WIth regards to carry, ball seems to carry fine, of course occasional 7 pin, 8 or 9 pins on heavy shots, but that comes expected from any bowling ball. Ive seen 2 300s shot w/ this ball already, one from adult lefty and one from a right handed junior friend of mine, shot at a JAT tournament, so this ball will carry when it hits.

When I had the KIP drilled to arc (pin under ring finger, MB almost in my track) I never expected to get a "true arc" out of the ball. I thought it would still be fairly angular but surprisingly even with the pearl reactive cover it does not want to snap on fresh oil. This is an awesome control ball when the heads are fresh and a great down and in ball on longer or heavier oil. Compared to my other pearls (Power Groove, Slay'R), the KIP doesn't seem to want to push through the heads as easily which is a bit unusual for a pearl reactive, but I never intended to use it on anything less than fresh oil anyways so that is irrelevant. All I can say is use it on the condition it is intended for and you will be pleasantly surprised. Drill it anyway you like as I have seen numerous other people of varying styles throw the KIP with great success.

I'm 13 and i average 171. I owned many balls such as the buzzaw, killer instinct sanded, balls like that. This is the only ball i love. I play many shots and it always works out.I can shoot for any pin and still get it.Well except for some splits. As i said earlier i had the killer instinct sanded but it jus didn't give me wat i needed. I have standards but i totally disliked the killer instinct sanded. My first game after getting it drilled i shot 249,221,175 for a 645. Which is pretty good for me.

This ball is drilled with the pin 4 ½ “ from my PAP and the CG 4 ½ “ from my PAP with the bomb just to the right of my thumb, 90* drilling. On a house pattern, this ball is awesome. It does not overreact if you get it to the dry too soon, but it also get into its roll if you miss left into the oil. This is not the ball of choice if the pattern is long or the volume is extremely heavy in the front, that is more for the Killer Instinct, but on a typical house pattern, this is definitely the ball you want in your hand. Could be the second best ball ever made by Ebonite, behind the V2.

drilled this one 55 deg bomb, w 4.1/4 pin in ring fing. only has some top static. I like how this ball looks, rolls, moves at break point, & it's hit. Seems at this point, it is my strongest reactive ball. Time will tell, but for now it looks like it is very dependable through the heads with a consistant mid lane read... the break point might be a little more difficult to control, seems a little oil sensitive in that part of the lane. will up-date later after more useage. i have nothing more to say about this ball, this site needs more words to submit.

It's the newest, specialist ball out there, or so I'm told. I'm skeptical, but the fine Savage Flip makes me decide to take a looksee. Well, I really shouldn't of. Drilled 4x5. I am mid-forties, 17-18 MPH with 340-360 rpm an axis rotational angle of about 20 and tilt of about 15. 1. Length? On most conditions, it gets through the heads and midlanes fine. If the lanes get too broken down or dry, the cover causes the ball to seize up too early. 2. Move? Well, on a fresh condition or if you can find clean backends, very hard, very strong and impressive. A flip if the oil is longish. On clean or very dry backends, it turns the corner, no doubt. 3. Hook? Loads on clean backends. More and later than most of my other pearls (that's right, more and later). In fact, it's kind of ridiculous and requires a fair amount of speed to hold it on the right and some angle as well. But....with carrydown, it slides. Big time. A lot. Stops or doesn't move. Yeech. 4. Hit

this ball is good for the price, i payed 75 second hand. i thought that it would be only a another ball to my colletction, but with this ball, ive shot many mid 200's. the only bad thing bout this ball is that fact that it isnt forgiving if u miss up mark. this ball had made me learn to keep my ball speed up, if i get too slow it goes crazy at about 30 feet. it is very bad about hanging in the oil on synthetic lanes, but it has more flare than any of my other balls, which are the apex aggresion and the tpc warrior.

One of the better Ebonite balls on the shelf right now it looks like. The ball hit pretty hard, but its realy nothing special in that category. The part that won me over about the ball is its ability to carry almost everything in the pocket. Another great thing about this ball is that it 's incedibly smooth along with a very smooth back end. The ball is very versitle but I would not throw it on very dry lanes or on heavy oil.Great for bowlers with a lot of revs who want a hard hitting top shelf ball. Nice Job Ebonite!!!

This is truly one of Ebonite's best balls ever, it has a great angular movement into the pocket and has lots of movement on the backend. The ball does not even play like a pearlized ball at all, but like the Killer Instinct Sanded if it is thrown properly, the ball really does have a lot of carry and it can be played on just about any surface. I played on heavy oil today and it just finished with a monster backend and a gut wrenching hit. The ball is pretty shot touchy as well, it depends on the speed that you thow the ball, the ball like all pearlized balls, has to be played on a line, but this ball is very versatile for a pearlized ball. Get this ball and you won't be disappointed

I bought this ball about a month ago. Used it in our local synthetic house and shot 5 consecutive 700 series, after stuggling to shoot 700 most of the year. The ball revs quickly off the hand, has a predictable turn in the mid lane and makes a very strong move to the pocket. Initially this ball carried every single hit. I was having to shoot about 1 or 2 ten pins a night. After 50-75 games the ball is losing it's bite, but is still my first ball out of the bag. I have it drilled stacked leverage, as I do for most of my equipment. In a recent tournament the heads were burnt and the ball really didn't move cleanly at all. It wasted all of its move early and had nothing left at the pins. That isn't the ball's fault, but it just isn't the best ball for burnt heads, but what ball is?<s

Yesterday I decided that I needed a new ball to replace my fast dying Freak, so I headed down the the center and talked to our pro Mel Wood. Being lucky to have similar hand sizes he let me throw all of his tournament balls on fresh oil to see what I would prefer to compliment/replace my freak. I narrowed it down to the killer instinct pearl or a polished power deisel. The killer instict rolled very well and had a ton of backend. Shoots that were sent a bit too wide often made it back to the pocket. In the end I liked the power deisel just a tad better, but both both balls were great. I don't have extremely high revs, but when standing with my left foot on the furthest dot on the left I could take this ball inbetween the second and third arrow (on the right hand side) and nail the pocket throwing the ball with average speed on fresh oil. It slid down the lane nicely and made a hard, yet controllable move to the pocket on the backend.

I wanted to post a follow up to my previous review, now having played an a veriety of shots.. and to improve the score on this ball because it does not deserve such a low score... :-) I have played heavy oil, medium oil, light oil, strong back ends, weak back ends, very deep shots and not so very deep shots, and this ball suits them all! No matter where you start this ball, and what the condition down is, it doesn't want to move till the back end, and when it hits the back end it takes off! changing the rotation on the ball can tame the backend, but either way it charges at the pocket! The bottom line is - I can get a similar look on vertually any lane i play on with this ball! Ryan www.rpsbowling.com

I have this ball drilled up ~4in from PAP, 115 deg (MB is way *left* of the thumb), intention was for this ball to go long and snap at the end. In short, mission accomplished! On a normal house shot, the angle that I was generating with this ball was just amazing; it came back from angles that looked impossible. On heavy oil, it did tend to go straight (which is probably what happened to JuniorsProShop). Not all balls should be for heavy oil!! When there is some dry, this ball WILL come back. Of course, sharp back-ends like this can be hard to control, but when the lanes are broken in, this ball is a monster and give you lots of area to hit the pocket.

I was pleased to drill one of these up so soon after release... I was looking for somethin with length, but could be used on a decent amount of oil... I am a high rev player, high end of 400 RPM's (average around 450), with around average speed of 17.5ish MPH, and even on oil sometimes find the ball rolling up to early. I layed the ball out with a 4.5 inch pin, and 65 degree MB. I have played 12 games with this so far, and am loving it. First 4 were on a league pattern (that's not in the sence of an american "house shot"), not a whole lot of oil and an average back end. The ball slid really well, but had such a kick on the back end. I scored very well with it and was definitly impressed. Next 8 were in our National Ranking event... heavier oil that before, maybe 25-30 units, but not a hard shot... The ball worked even better! i had a lot of cary problems, but so did everyone so i wouldn;t put that down to the game. In only my 7th game with the ball I shot 298, and thenex

We drilled this one for one of our good bowlers and regular customer. Pin over the bridge, cg kicked out about 1/2 inch, and the bomb to the right of the thumb. THIS BALL STINKS. The ball was used on first shift of league, house shot. First ball, 60 feet, picked off the 6-10. Moved a little right...nothing. Moved a little more right, hit the hole, 8-10. Ok, lets leave it for second shift. Second shift comes, lanes get a little burnt, he picks it up in the third game. Still not making a great move but getting to the pocket. 5-7, and an 8-10. This ball hits like a sponge. Ball had very little reaction and no hitting power. Overall, cannot say anything good about this ball at this time. We will try it again tomorrow in another house on a different type of shot and if it is any better will post another review. We may even play with surface a little. If we dont post another review that means this ball did not meet our standards.
