I picked up one of these critters from a local second hand store for $4.00 (!) and had it drilled like my Pink Hammer. I tried it on league night Friday and rolled a nice 246 with eight X's in a row! I play a "down and in" shot from the first arrow with a few boards of flare. This ball is a little bit straighter than my Pink Hammer. On slick lanes, this ball is useless for strike shots, as it is hard to flare. This ball has a 'old school' look to it, with its blue & silver colors.

I am reviewing this ball, even though it is outdated. I will try to describe how it was, and how it is for today's conditions. First, this is a 3 piece pearl urethane ball. As with most 3 piece pancake balls, drilling is not very important. Mine is over the lable. In it's day (the late 80's) this was a very good ball in direct competition with the pearl hammer. It was a ball that was good when your urethane was hooking too much and you needed to clear the heads, but still need more backend than plastic would allow. Great ball. Now, with the different oil types, it is very close to a plastic ball. I still use mine for corner pins and if they are Reaaaaalllly dry. It has become nothing more than a spare ball. Still it had its day and was a good ball.

this was my 1st urethane ball and i purchased it in 2002 from a local pro shop. was looking for a cheap urethane ball, and he had a couple of these disc. balls laying around new in book for $40 bucks.so i got it drilled and tried on diff. cond. and found that it worked for me on med to heavy cond.ball has a nice arcing hook very easy to control, has some room for error but not much, hardness on this ball is 78 but its how the surface of the ball graps the lane not like the old rubber or plastic when it was the hardness of the shell.grouch
