Plastic slips. The Groove grips. And grip is exactly what you need to improve your game. When you’re ready to step up from plastic, get in the Groove. Ready to start hooking the ball? Move up from Plastic to Reactive coverstock technology. Compared to Plastic, Reactive coverstock technology increases traction and hooking action in the oil, and Reactive coverstocks can be sanded or shined to create large differences in hook potential. Reactive coverstocks also respond more aggressively to dry lane surfaces than Urethane coverstocks, increasing backend hooking action and hitting power. Coverstock: The Power Groove Purple/Teal Sanded features a dull version of Brunswick’s popular PowrKoil 17 Reactive coverstock. Dull coverstocks create more traction in the oil and increase hook potential. First used on the Sapphire Zone, PowrKoil 17 is the strongest Reactive coverstock ever used on a Groove class ball. I think Brunswick's idea on this ball is to have a solid reactive designed for lighter oiled lanes. This is the ball for bowlers who want an earlier roll for dry lanes. Before I tried it out, I honestly thought it just won't do any good for me. But I was wrong this had a smooth but late roll for predictability. I never thought this was a good idea due to the fact that sanded balls don't go well with lighter oil. But this works well due to the high RG. Although it can't go through dry heads, it will not go high on you. On lighter conditions, many bowling balls over hook or just lose all energy but this ball does not. This is a very good deal for beginner bowlers and people who have an older style of play and if you want a predictable roll with a later hook for oil, then the new Impulse Zone is a good choice. Besides the groove only costs $80 so why not try it out anyway?
