The Soul is very clean through the front and has a good backend motion, but isn’t too much in the back, or too jerky. As with each Brunswick release, the new balls keep going through the pins better and better. On Sport Patterns, this ball is also a very good benchmark ball. I find I’m able to have a look on any pattern with it, from playing the gutter on short, to playing inside on long. With its benchmark characteristics, I compared this to the original Melee. I found that the Soul was a couple feet cleaner in the front, didn’t read the mid as much as the Melee, but for what it didn’t read in the mid lane, it made up for in the backend. As the replacement name in the Affordable Price Point, I also compared it to the Blue Ringer and the Burgundy Ringer. I found the Soul to fit right in between these two balls. As clean as the Burgundy, and as much overall hook as the Blue (with more of the Soul’s hook being in the back part of the lane).
